It’s good to be back in the Golden Isles of Georgia. It was difficult to leave the Ryder Cup with the Europeans. But I can’t be more proud of our team. They conducted themselves with class all week and inspired fans. They showed fans what golf is all about and how to act.

I expect we’ll see a similar level of competition, sportsmanship and love for the game at this week’s McGladrey Classic. It doesn’t seem like it was three years ago that The McGladrey Classic made its inaugural debut on the PGA TOUR. Our event became an instant Seaside Tradition, known for its field strength, intimate environment, relaxed atmosphere and great fun.

To hear players, caddies, officials, sponsors, volunteers and spectators express the great time they had and tell us they couldn’t wait to come back is a real testament to the work of our tournament staff.

Tournament proceeds have enabled us to give almost a half million dollars to charity. This year, it’s our goal to raise another half million for charities that benefit children and their families.

2012 marks the third year of this exciting PGA TOUR Fall Series event. We are delighted to return to Sea Island to continue the tradition – and even more pleased that you are here with us.

The first two tournaments were huge successes by any measure, with tens-of-thousands of golf enthusiasts joining us here on the island, and millions tuning in via The Golf Channel. Spectator Info Mobile Device Policy

Mobile phones are allowed at The McGladrey Classic. The following conditions must be met: • All electronic devices must be set to SILENT at all times.

• Calls only permitted in designated Cell Phone Zones.

• No photographs are permitted during Official Competition Rounds Thursday – Sunday.

• No video recording is permitted Monday – Sunday.

• Texting is permitted but limited to areas away from competition.

Failure to adhere to the Mobile Device Policy may result in the confiscation of your mobile device or removal from the tournament.

Autographs

During official competitive rounds (Thursday – Sunday), a player will not sign autographs after the start of his round until it is complete. A player has the option of signing or not signing autographs after his round is complete.

Have a Plan

There are basically two ways to watch a golf tournament. Parade style – where you pick a spot and watch the field pass by – or cross-country style – where you follow a particular player or group around the course.

Daily Pairings Sheet & Map

A Pairings Sheet is included in the center of this Guide. Find out when the players tee off and the order of the groups. The Pairings Sheet includes a course map. Check the scoreboards to find out who the leaders are and where they are on the course. One way to tell the players from a distance is to look for their caddies, who wear vests that have color-coded pockets and trim (green, blue or gray). Colors are indicated on the Pairings Sheet. Check the Weather

Check the weather forecast before you visit The McGladrey Classic and dress appropriately. Expect mild mornings and warm, sunny afternoons, so dressing in layers is the best idea.

Inclement Weather Policy for Spectators Observe the leaderboards throughout the golf course for “weather warning” signs that will appear prior to inclement weather moving into the area. When this sign appears, spectators are advised to take precautions PRIOR to play being suspended. If the siren sounds, seek shelter immediately.

A difficult tee shot on this sharp dog-leg right can setup a short iron second shot for the longer hitters or a mid-to-long iron for those playing it safe. The green is protected by a greenside bunker on the right as well as marsh running the right side and behind the green.

A good tee shot, depending on the wind, can leave a player the opportunity to reach this green in two shots. A difficult tee shot as bunkers flank both the right and left sides. Longer hitters can carry the left bunker leaving a short iron in for the second shot. The green tilts from back to front and is protected by bunkers right and left as well as marsh long.

Playing to the center of the green, regardless of pin position, will be the aim of all players. A large bunker protects the right side of the green making it attractive as players must negotiate the marsh short and left.

This signature hole plays once again at the mercy of the wind. Players have to negotiate the marsh running the entire left side of the hole while paying attention to three large fairway bunkers protecting the right side. An uphill shot to a green protected by a large front bunker makes birdie on this hole a bonus.

This long par four is set up by the drive. Players must play far enough left to avoid the large oak trees that can inhibit the second shot on this hole, while avoiding the marsh to the left. Set upon the Atlantic, wind is always a factor here and while there are no bunkers guarding the green, marsh runs the entire left side making the swales right of the green a common place to play third shots.

For those unable to carry the bunker, they must play right on the tee shot and lay up for a short third shot. The raised green is very well protected with bunkers left and right and back pin positions can provide a very difficult two putt.

This program aligns with the “giving back� mission of the Davis Love Foundation and the PGA TOUR. Birdies Fore Love Birdies Fore Love gives non-profit organizations an opportunity to raise funds for their charity through a no-cost program with 100% of funds raised going back to their organization. Birdies Fore Love participants make a pledge for every birdie made at The McGladrey Classic during official tournament rounds.
