#Self_Introduction

Michael Chen\ As a student studying in industrial design, I am always looking for ways to solve problems in my life, and the more I look at things, the more I realize my own shortcomings, and the more I realize that design is in fact all aspects, which means it is important to examine a product and service with different perspectives.

For me, this semester is very much like a re-examination of the "design" thing. Since the product design class was dropped in my sophomore year, I admit that I am still figuring out a lot of design methods and concepts. Polestar P’espresso With economic development, increase in disposable income of people, changing tastes and preferences, and greater acceptance of western lifestyle are expected to drive the revenue growth of the global espresso market.

Moreover, the growing popularity of espresso around the world and increasing number of restaurants and cafes, especially in emerging countries, are expected to offer growth prospects for the global espresso market in the coming years. Increasing involvement of manufacturers in strategic marketing and promotional efforts is expected to boost the growth of the market.

In summary, many different trends have occurred in the coffee market in recent years, they include sustainability and diversity, ready-to-drink and customization, and the main reason for this choice of coffee machine is the inclusion of the exploration of the balance between manual handling and automation within the new format, while also trying to introduce the Polestar style into the lifestyle.

Upon are the words that Polestar uses to sum up its brand. When looking through brands of automotives, I saw that how a design-oriented brand could be liked. When looking most of the car brand trying to explore the diversity of curves, a simple, sharp but sophiscarted design come into my eyes, and it is Polestar. After doing more research about Polestar, more and more stories popped out, which is the reason I selected the brand as topic.

Sleek Gradient Face

"Minimalism" After completing the brand research, I turned my attention to Polestar's cars, and for a more complete and coherent styling of the whole. During the process, I explored all aspects of the brand's visual relevance, from the display space, the exterior and interior of the car, and the whole to the details.

In the process, we can understand how a brand can gradually present the whole brand story visually from the stacking of various elements, and we can find that the minimalist style is not just reducing design actions, but from various observations and experiments, boldly but without losing control of various details to shape the final design presentation, which is quite respectable.

Design Process\ "From Outer to Inner " During the design process, I first explored many different shapes when looking for the shape, and also referred to how many similar products were presented in the past, and gradually shaped the style and structure during the process.

The function is based on the semi-automatic coffee machine, and the hard and simple Scandinavian style is incorporated into it, trying to create a high quality but not ostentatious espresso machine.

Universal Design\

Public seating is one of the infrastructures of a city's public space and an important part of the urban environment design, its quality also affects the image of urban public space. With the development and migration of the times, the design of public seating has also received extensive attention and some new trends have emerged in its design. At present, there is a lack of attention and design of public social space and public environment furniture "recreational" facilities. Therefore, this time, we have added the topic of "local aging" to explore the new form of public seating.

Universal Design is the design and composition of an environment so that it can be accessed, understood and used to the greatest extent possible by all people regardless of their age, size, ability or disability. An environment (or any building, product, or service in that environment) should be designed to meet the needs of all people who wish to use it. This is not a special requirement, for the benefit of only a minority of the population. It is a fundamental condition of good design. If an environment is accessible, usable, convenient and a pleasure to use, everyone benefits. By considering the diverse needs and abilities of all throughout the design process, universal design creates products, services and environments that meet peoples' needs. Simply put, universal design is good design.

1. Equitable Use The design is useful and marketable to people with diverse abilities.

2. Flexibility in Use The design accommodates a wide range of individual preferences and abilities.

3. Simple and Intuitive Use Use of the design is easy to understand, regardless of the user's experience, knowledge, language skills, or current concentration level.

4. Perceptible Information The design communicates necessary information effectively to the user, regardless of ambient conditions or the user's sensory abilities.

5. Tolerance for Error The design minimizes hazards and the adverse consequences of accidental or unintended actions.

6. Low Physical Effort The design can be used efficiently and comfortably and with a minimum of fatigue.

7. Size and Space for Approach and Use Appropriate size and space is provided for approach, reach, manipulation, and use regardless of user's body size, posture, or mobility.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of the Interior, the percentage of senior citizens over 65 years old has been increasing year by year since 104, and the aging index has increased to 128.7 with the decline of the young population aged 0~14 years old. The aging-related issues are a social phenomenon that we cannot ignore.

In recent years, there are many social and design issues that focus on the "food, clothing, housing, transportation, and entertainment" of the elderly, "universal design" that focuses on the needs of the majority of the population, and "orange design" that provides services for social care, all of which discuss the inconvenience of modern life for the elderly, how to improve their lives with design, and enhance the quality of life of the elderly.

However, most of the design theories and related researches focus on the basic living behaviors of senior citizens, such as "food, clothing, housing, and transportation", with the main focus on the mechanism of good housing environment, barrier-free space design, mobile vehicle design, and health care technology and services for senior citizens - but the system and facilities for the inner emotion, pleasure satisfaction, emotional relationship between communities, and self-identity of "parenting" are less studied in depth. This makes it easy for seniors to be limited to the satisfaction of the basic living environment, but there is a lack of attention and design of public social space and public environment furniture for "recreational" facilities.

Some seniors lack social activities and live alone in their homes.

#Project_02 Universal Design

"Aging in place"

Because seniors tend to be unfamiliar with new municipal environments and familiar with old ones, "aging in place" is considered by some scholars to be the ideal way to successfully enable seniors to develop physically and mentally. Therefore, the creation of cohesive communities and the establishment of public areas and cluster facilities for senior citizens are relatively important to enhance the connection between senior citizens and the community. However, most of the current research and design focuses on how to maintain a basic home life for seniors - less on the design of facilities for social activities and public areas for seniors, and therefore, the outdoor social environment is often not friendly to seniors.

Developed countries in the West attach great importance to the construction of public art in cities because it directly affects the image of a city or even a country. In some European cities, the governments of real estate development projects require developers to allocate a certain percentage of funds for the construction of public art.

II. the Trend of Ecology Ecological design in the design process to consider environmental factors, so that the design product life cycle to reduce the impact on the environment, the final formation of a sustainable production and consumption system.

On the other hand, ecological design can reduce the pollution of the environment, saving non-renewable resources. Ecological design at the beginning of the design to consider the product design, production, use of the various stages of the impact on the environment, so as to reduce the adverse effects at the source, more environmentally friendly. Nowadays, the concept of ecological design has been deeply rooted in people's hearts, the use of the concept of ecological design of public seating design will become an inevitable trend.

The Relationship between Form and Behavior

A. Bar type seat Advantages: Bar is suitable for lonely people who are not sociable, or for conversations between two people.

Disadvantages: Not suitable for a group or a group of talkers, standing usually obstructs traffic.

B. Single square seat

Advantages The unisex constellation is mainly for two to four unsociable people, and is back-to-back, so as to exclude others from interfering.

Disadvantages Due to the form and size, it is not suitable for two or more people to talk.

C. Single concave seat Advantage The single concave seat is suitable for two or four people to talk, during the process of conversation, for the talker standing, because of the nature of the concave angle, so it will not block the traffic.
