free and open to the puBlIc In the Blink of an Eye: A retrospective by photographer Harold Baquet will consist of photographs representing the 30-year span of Baquet’s career as a new orleans photographer. this exhibit was inspired by Baquet’s recent publication, In the Blink of an Eye: Photographic Memories of a New Orleans No More, published in collaboration with his wife, cheron Brylski.

Baquet’s work has been featured in national publications such as Rolling Stone, in books such as The Last Hayride by John Maginnis, and in the collections of museums in new orleans, chicago, and Washington, d.c.

“Because we lost so much from hurricane katrina, a photograph can be all you have of a memory,” said Baquet. “and that’s the effectiveness of photography as a medium: the ability to snap you back to a moment when you are actually there, not just visually, but emotionally...In the blink of an eye, black and white, just light, line, and form is enough, and it allows you to explore what was.”
