inser Festival is back. The much anticipated fall festival will take place Saturday and Sunday, October 24 and 25 from 2 to 10 p.m. Kinser Fest will have food, game booths, prize giveaways and amusement rides but, as always, the main attraction is FREE live entertainment. This year, platinum-selling and Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton is performing. Kinser Fesival’s entertainment lineup also features jazz band Subfive and variety group Zyncxation on both days. On Saturday, see street performer Tamanchu and eisa group Ninu-fa Daiko and Ti-da Daiko. R&B group New Soulution and dance troupe T-DA are slated for the stage on Sunday, alongside eisa group Chinjinsyu Waka-Tida.

Headliner Vanessa Carlton will take to the stage at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Carlton is known best for writing “A Thousand Miles,” one of the defining pop songs of the 2000s, which earned her a platinum certification and a Grammy nod. Kinser Festival is open to all DoD ID card holders and Japanese. Please leave your pets at home. Do not bring any outside alcohol, bottles or coolers. If you choose to drink, please do so responsibly. There will be daiko and taxi services available. You don’t want to miss out on this event. he Heroes and Healthy Families workshop series is designed to equip you with knowledge to help your family address the wounds of war that cannot be seen. Each workshop features speakers from across the U.S. who will share their personal stories and provide encouragement and support. The workshops are open to all members of active-duty families. These workshops will take place at camps across the island between November 3 and 5. In addition, both married and unmarried couples can attend a separate marriage retreat at Camp Foster Ocean Breeze on November 7 and 8 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration for the retreat is open now.
