T

his year’s Hansen Festival is stacking up to be one of the best yet. The annual summer blowout will take place Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6 from 2 to 10 p.m. on both days. Just like all MCCS festivals, Hansen’s will have plenty of food, game booths, prize giveaways and amusement rides but the main attraction is the FREE live entertainment. On September 5 (6 p.m.) and 6 (8 p.m.), see “America’s most patriotic rock band,” Madison Rising. Led by U.S. Navy and Marine Corps veteran, Dave Bray, Madison Rising is on a mission to honor the American spirit through rock & roll. Their latest album, “American Hero - R.E.D.” is dedicated to the men and women of the Armed Forces and first responders for their sacrifices and dedication. On September 5 at 8 p.m., see platinum-selling rock band Shinedown. With a streak of nine

number one hits on the rock charts between 2005 and 2012 and their latest single, “Cut the Cord,” off their upcoming album Threat to Survival rocketing straight to number one, Shinedown is arguably one of the most successful rock bands of the past decade. Hansen Festival is open to all DoD ID card holders and Japanese locals. FREE shuttle buses will provide transportation to and from designated parking lots on Camp Hansen (see page 9 for bus schedule). Please leave your pets at home. Do not bring any outside alcohol, bottles or coolers. If you choose to drink, please do so responsibly. There will be daiko and taxi services available. You don’t want to miss out on this event. CCS has the perfect event for children who love the spotlight. On September 3, Tengan Castle on Camp Courtney will host Tengan’s Kids Got Talent from 5 to 9 p.m. Get ready for an evening of star power and delicious buffet food. Children of all ages can perform a talent of their choice and everyone goes home a winner. Come out and support talented young performers at this fun, family-oriented talent show. In addition to the show, enter to win a FREE overnight stay for two at Moon Ocean Ginowan Hotel & Residence and toys from Mattel. The buffet is priced at $7.95 for adults, $3.95 for children ages 5 to 11 and children under the age of 5 eat for FREE. To participate, performers must sign up at Tengan Castle by September 1.
