TAKING THE PLUNGE! POOL BASICS WITH EFMP Laurel Bay: 1 June and 3 June Parris Island: 29 June and 8 July 0900-1000 Laurel Bay and Parris Island Pool Back to School Splash School Supply Giveaway w/Pool Party; Laurel Bay: 5 August 1800-2000 This one and a half hour sensory experience will introduce you and your child to our great facility, fabulous staff, and common swim lesson structures and activities. Your child will explore the wonderful world of aquatics (the pool) while increasing body awareness, perception, coordination, oral motor skills (blowing bubbles), safety awareness, social skills, and most importantly a pool visiting routine. The ultimate goal is to get you and your child comfortable enough to enroll in swim lessons. Private lessons are available free of charge, space is limited, registration required.

PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS

Parris Island Outdoor Pool Adult Event (free shirts while supplies last) 17 June: Start time 0700 1 mile run followed by 300 meter swim followed by 1 mile run

6 June - 12 August at Laurel Bay, Parris Island and Naval Hospital pools.

1 person, 4 consecutive lessons, 30 minutes each, $55 Private lessons will be offered by appointment only; prior payment and registration required. The scheduled lessons will be available for authorized patrons of all ages. Each private lesson will be limited to one person at a time, one on one instruction with a Water Safety Instructor. After you register you will be contacted to schedule your lessons.

Youth Event (18 and under) (free shirts while supplies last) 11 June: Start time 0930 1 mile run followed by a 250 meter swim ½ mile run followed by a 150 meter swim ¼ mile run followed by a 75 meter swim 200 yard run followed by a 25 meter swim

GROUP SWIM LESSONS

May use life jackets if necessary

Registration will begin 28 May for group lessons. There will be group classes for all youth ages focusing on water introduction to advanced swim strokes. Sessions will be for one week, four classes.

Classes on Parris Island and Laurel Bay will be TuesdayFriday. Naval Hospital classes will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

SUMMER SAFETY DAY

SWIM CAMP 1700-1930 | Ages 8-18 | Parris Island Pool A program that focuses on stroke refinement and physical fitness. Sessions will be physically demanding and strength building. Each day offers the participant with knowledge and tools to become a healthier, stronger young athlete. Participants will need bathing suits and running shoes daily. Participants must be able to swim 100 meters freestyle or breaststroke, followed by two minutes of treading water.

Participants may register for all weeks or each week separately. The first registered week will be $65 to include supplies. Each additional week will be $25.

GUARD START

ACTIVE DUTY STROKE REFINEMENT 7 June – 11 August , Tuesdays & Thursdays 1200-1300; Parris Island Outdoor Pool.

Free for all Active Duty Marines and Sailors (all skill levels are welcome).

11 June | 1100-1500 | Parris Island Pool Instructor led aquatics safety topics taught through fun interactive activities that promote safety in, on, and around all sources of water. Parent participation is strongly encouraged. This is a FREE event with your daily entry fees or seasonal pass to include free shirts while supplies last! There will be a team event to build and float a cardboard boat.

12-22 July (Tuesdays-Fridays) 0900-1100 | Laurel Bay Pool | Cost: $75 Guard Start is a program designed for children ages 10 through 14, who can complete the skills of American Red Cross: Learn to Swim Level 4. Guard Start teaches the participant the duties and responsibilities of a professional lifeguard. Successful course completion offers the participants a chance to improve their swimming skills in addition to earning the following American Red Cross certifications: CPR for the lay responder, Prevention of Blood Borne Pathogens, AED, First Aid, and Guard Start. Obtaining these certifications will prepare participants who turn 15 years old to enroll in the American Red Cross lifeguard course.

TEAM ENDURANCE DUATHLON 20 July 0700 at Parris Island Outdoor Pool.

Duration: 1 hour Teams of 4-6 participants compete to achieve the farthest distance over the duration of one hour. Participants simultaneously receive points for every ½ mile run and 50 meters swim completed. Only 2 swimmers are allowed in the pool at a time. Teammates are allowed to rotate in the pool event and from swim to run events as long as they do not exceed the two swimmers in the water at a time.

All teams must be pre-registered by July 18 for this event.

This event will be limited to a maximum of 30 teams.

Volunteers are needed for this event. All participants must be present by 0615 for body marking and pre-race meeting.

Run: 1/2 mile laps Swim: 50 meter laps Fruit and water provided.

Awards given following event.
