Back in Nova Scotia, Effie MacLellan learned a generations-old, family farmhouse recipe for biscuits (known as oatcakes) that she carried to her new home in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Effie’s daughter Joan, along with her longtime friend Irene, launched Effie’s Homemade to share the oatcake tradition with an eager public.
