Brisbane community clubs to benefit from $2.3 million in grants

Brisbane, January 29 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

Community clubs and organisations across Brisbane are set to receive a major boost, with more than $2.3 million in funding allocated under the latest round of the Lord Mayor’s Better Suburbs Grants. The grants will fund upgraded playgrounds, new sports field lighting, and improved clubhouse amenities, ensuring Brisbane’s suburban spaces remain vibrant and accessible for residents.

A total of 24 successful clubs have each secured up to $200,000 under the Community Facility grant category to expand their operations and enhance community spaces. Among the key projects funded in this round are a new playground for Holland Park Kindergarten, new baseball netting for Baseball Queensland in Hendra, and improved wheelchair access at the Chermside Bowls Club.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner emphasized the importance of investing in local clubs, stating, “Our fantastic community clubs are part of the reason why we are Australia’s lifestyle capital, and we want to see them thrive now and into the future.”

He highlighted that the Better Suburbs Grants program ensures these organisations receive the support they need to continue fostering community engagement.

“So many of these organisations rely on volunteers to keep them going, and we want to support the work they do to make living in Brisbane even better,” he added.

Over the past 12 months, more than 74 community organisations have benefited from the Community Facility and Community Support categories, contributing to a total of 372 groups receiving almost $10 million in funding since the program’s inception.

In addition to the grants, local businesses, community groups, and not-for-profits can explore further funding opportunities through the Funding Finder tool, which provides access to over 2000 grants worth $59 billion via GrantGuru’s national database. Applications for the next round of the Lord Mayor’s Better Suburbs Grants will open in March 2025. For more information, visit brisbane.qld.gov.au and search for ‘Better Suburbs Grants’.
