On July 15 , the Country Club at Wakefield Plantation will celebrate its 25 anniversary Three staff members have been here for each and every one of these twentyfive years. Ironically enough, they all are members of our golf course maintenance team Congratulations to Todd Lawrence, Golf Course Superintendent, Mechanic, Andy Watt and Equipment Operator 4, Roy Tapia Pretty awesome accomplishment! Well done and thank you!

FUN FACTS:

Fun Fitness Fact #1: You Sweat More in the Heat But

That’s a Good Thing! Sweating is your body’s natural air conditioner During summer workouts, you may notice you’re drenched faster that’s your body working efficiently to keep you cool and regulate temperature It might feel uncomfortable, but it’s actually a sign that your body is doing its job!

Fun Fitness Fact #2: Golf Burns More Calories Than You

Think! Walking 18 holes while carrying your clubs can burn over 1,000 calories that’s more than a spin class! Even if you take a cart, the combination of swinging, walking to greens, and staying active in the sun still adds up to a great low-impact workout.

Hydration Tip: Whether you're hitting the gym, taking a fitness class, or walking the course, make sure to stay hydrated! Drink water before, during, and after physical activity especially in the summer heat to keep your energy up and recovery on track.

GOLF TIPS FROM THE GOLF PROFESSIONAL STAFF

Countless number of times we are asked ” How do I shift my weight in a golf swing?” The answer is simple The golf swing is a TURN – SHIFT – TURN.

Backswing (rotation/turn)

If you stand up straight with your arms straight out from your side and turn in either direction, you will you’re your weight (pressure shift) in that direction That’s a backswing/weight shift! Pure and simple rotation Your hips didn’t slide/sway you head didn’t drop of lift, and nothing much else happened No wasted motion

Downswing (shift)

Most think the downswing is simply turning again This is NOT the way the golf swing works!!! When you rotate back to center, your weight will re-center with weight evenly distributed on both feet. In golf, we need momentum towards
