March definitely kept us on our toes this year with a storm that rolled through in full force and weather that seemed to cycle through all four seasons in a single week. A big thank you goes to our entire team for their quick recovery efforts, and a special shoutout to Craig and his crew for doing an outstanding job getting the course back in shape and ready for the season

Summer is right around the corner, and we’re thrilled to announce the official opening of pool season this May! Whether you're here to swim laps, soak up the sun, or just unwind poolside, we’re looking forward to another wonderful season. We’re excited to continue our partnership with Aquatech and hope to add lifeguards in the near future to enhance supervision We appreciate your patience and support as we work toward securing this level of coverage As in previous seasons, pool attendants will be on-site to help provide a smooth, safe experience for everyone Please do your part to ensure the best season possible by adhering to all club policies and safety procedures
We are excited to feature a lineup of fun events, including Burgers & Shakes Night, Fresh Catch of the Week, and our lively Friday Night Live evenings, along with standout celebrations like the Summer Slam Pool Party and beloved traditions such as our Memorial Day festivities. And while there's plenty for the adults to enjoy, we're making sure the younger members have just as much fun. Gracie Lindfors, our dedicated Activities Director, has been hard at work planning a diverse and exciting lineup of summer camps for children of all ages. From the splashy adventures of Wet N Wild Camp to the creativity and energy of SuperKids Camp, plus a range of tennis and golf camps led by Coach Jake and our Director of Golf, Thomas, there’s something for every young club member to enjoy.

We’re proud to share that our first Operation 36 Junior Academy session was a tremendous success! In just eight weeks, our students collectively improved by over 95 strokes an incredible testament to their hard work and dedication It’s truly inspiring to see how quickly our young golfers are developing their skills and building confidence on the course Riding that momentum, we’re now eagerly looking forward to our Summer Junior Camps and are already laying the foundation for an exciting fall session.

It seems like it has been quite a while since we have sent the last newsletter out when in fact, it hasn’t been all that long at all. The crew and I have been extremely busy with the storm cleanup from the “15-minute” storm. It was amazing to see how much damage we had incurred in just a few minutes of high winds! It took us two days to get just the back side in a playable state. The front side remained closed through the weekend and that Monday so that we could get some trees that were folded over like matchsticks on holes 2 and 8 cleaned up. It was a matter of safety for the golfers, and the front side was opened the following Tuesday. In the end we had 30 trees that had to be taken down and 30 more that had to be limbed. They hauled off 31 truckloads of debris, logs, and stumps.
The most notable tree that was lost was the live oak at the putting green. The wind blew two major limbs off it That being said, it would never have lived, much less looked right, so it was removed That tree will be replaced in December with a large 9-inch caliper live oak Unfortunately, it was too late to transplant a tree
that big and ensure its survival, so that is why we are waiting until December for a more optimum time.
I'd like to thank all of you who took the time to email, call, or comment on how quickly my staff was able to get the course turned around and back open for play. It surely has been an interesting and busy month between the damage and then aerification right behind it. They have been working extremely hard, and I have been sure to pass along all of your kind words.
Looking forward, we will be working on mulching and pine-strawing areas around the course as well as around the clubhouse. We will also be getting back in the swing of mowing on a routine basis. The first cuts on the tees and fairways have already happened! Green grass is right around the corner!

Summer is upon us, and we have some great programs for the family this season Pickleball is on the rise with great attendance at our try pickleball clinics and we are excited to continue that momentum into the summer The addition of Friday’s lunchtime pickleball clinic has been well received and we will continue to offer it throughout the summer. We will have more open play pickleball opportunities, adding more dates for dinks & drinks pickleball socials during the summer as well
Memorial Weekend Junior Tennis Classic is an L7 Jr Tennis Tournament that we will be holding on the tennis courts weekend of May 24. Sign up is through the USTA website and separate emails will go out to the membership. Our 2nd Pickleball Tournament at the club will be May 30 – June 1, the Wilson CC Pickleball Smash Tournament We hope you will join us for a weekend of actionpacked fun on the pickleball courts All levels welcome, we will have both junior & adult divisions as well as a singles draw
Finally, camp registration is open for the summer, reserve your spot as they are filling up fast. Tennis & Pickleball camps are Monday to Thursday with a mixture of Tennis & Pickleball working on the basics of the game while also playing fun games-based activities to improve all your racquet sport skills

We ask that you register your child at least one week before each camp Campers are welcome to bring a member-sponsored guest, if space permits A 20% sibling discount is available for members only with two or more children attending the full week of camp; this discount does not apply to day rates or guests. Our activity camps will include a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, swimming, crafts, lunch, snacks, and much more Our sports camps will focus on specific activities We provide lunch and two snacks daily Please inform us of any allergies, dietary restrictions, or lunch items your child does not eat upon registration, so we can prepare an alternate meal The menu for each week of camp remains the same and will be available in the registration form for your review. A registration form will be sent closer to the start of camp and must be completed online or printed and returned before the first day If we do not receive a registration form for your child by the first day of camp, they will not be able to attend for safety reasons. CANCELLATION POLICY
If you cancel within 24 hours of the event, you will still be charged 50% of the price. Spectacular Hawk that Loves our Golf Course

Many Wilson Country Club golfers have probably seen this small hawk, perhaps swooping down over the fairway on hole #5 or perched in a pine tree somewhere else on the course. Its light gray head is prominent, and when the hawk turns and dives, the white patches on its upper wings are displayed. The Mississippi Kite, which feeds on large insects, is now a common bird in eastern North Carolina But this was not always the case A bird of the deep South, it began to show up in North Carolina only in the 1970s and became a common bird here only in the 2000s Its light wing loading allows it to swoop and soar in spectacular fashion. It can catch and eat a dragonfly while in flight, but its favorite summer food is cicadas. It generally arrives here in late April, and by September, it is gone south again to Central America Look for it on the course this summer
