FITNESS

Gracie!
Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, Gracie Lindfors brings a lifelong passion for health and wellness to Wilson Country Club. Her fitness journey began at a young age through beauty pageants, where she first discovered her love for running and movement. Early in her life, Lindfors was drawn to pilates and yoga, but it was during her freshman year of college that she found a new passion strength training Since then, fitness has evolved into more than just a routine for her; it has become a way of life She credits her commitment to training with building her confidence, supporting her mental health through the release of endorphins, and strengthening relationships by working out with friends and family At Wilson Country Club, Lindfors is eager to bring fresh energy and expertise to the gym with her recently obtained personal training certification. She plans to introduce static and dynamic stretching classes with a focus on injury prevention especially beneficial for golfers “Pre–tee time stretching can make a real difference and elevate your game,” she notes. Members are encouraged to stop by the gym and meet Lindfors, whose enthusiasm and dedication promise to be a great asset to the club community

Dear Members,
It’s hard to believe that summer is already here and we’re halfway through the golf season. While the year may have started off a bit slow, it has certainly heated up over the past few months!
I want to take a moment to congratulate all of our major championship winners so far Priscilla Brewer, Kelly Brewer, Lisa Matthews, and Kelly Smith led the way in this year’s Ladies’ Member-Guest Joey Lamm and Hewitt Poland claimed top honors as our Men’s Member-Member Overall Champions Most recently, Matt Ellis and Mark Whitley took home the title at the Two-Ball Invitational. Congratulations to all of you on some great golf!
The next couple of months promise even more excitement. Be sure not to miss our annual Firecracker Tournament on the Fourth of July, Couples Golf returns with another fun-filled evening on the course, and our Junior Club
Championship will showcase our rising juniors The Wilson Cup is just around the corner and make sure you qualify for our Team!
As we move through the warmest stretch of the season, we kindly ask all players to help us keep the course in top condition Please continue to keep golf carts on the paths around tees and greens, repair any ball marks you see even if they’re not your own and fill in your divots. These small efforts make a big impact, especially under the stress of summer heat.
For those with junior golfers in the family, registration for our Operation36 Fall Academy will open on August 1st This program continues to be a fantastic pathway for young players to learn the game in a fun, structured environment
Thank you all for your continued support and enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing you at the club as we enjoy another exciting stretch of the golf season together.

The golf course has really taken off the past few weeks after the cooler spring we had this year. The rough lagged behind and had a struggle greening up and filling in. With a little rain, some fertilizer, and some warmer days, it has taken right off. I am being a bit more aggressive with the pre-emergent and postemergent weed control around the greens, trying to combat the goosegrass this year. We are spraying the collars every 45 days to try to keep it at bay. We have already been around the course spraying postemergent for nutsedge, buttonweed, and any other broadleaves that may be lingering as well. It’s been a busy past few months
To this point the tees have been aerified as well as the driving range tee and some of the clubhouse grounds My anticipation is that by the time this newsletter goes out, the fairways will also be done Our goal is to complete all major maintenance so that July and August require only routine upkeep
The tree work that we did this winter on 7 seems to be really making an impact on both the greening up of the Bermuda as well as the overall health of it. Most of this was concentrated on the first 100 yards or so of the fairway. I can definitely tell a significant impact was made on the rough on that side, as the trees are taking the water away from the grass as well as it getting more sunlight. The intent will be to thin out the trees in the second part of the woods on the left this coming winter if things go well.
I hope to see you all on the course soon!
Regards,
Craig Clemmer
Wilson Country Club Superintendent
