Dear Members,
As we head into the heart of the season, I wanted to share a few updates and improvements happening around the club all aimed at making your time here even more enjoyable
We’ve started work on expanding the pool bar and adding new cabanas to create more of a relaxed, resort-style feel. These are going to be great spots to unwind and spend time with family and friends this summer.
The pool bar will also double as our new turn window for the golf course, making it easier to grab something as you make the turn We’re also adding a new cart path so golfers coming off Hole #9 can access the pool area more conveniently
We’ll be rolling out an updated pool schedule as well, including dedicated morning lap swim hours Monday through Sunday. If you plan to participate in lap swimming, just be sure to complete your waiver ahead of time.
We’re also getting ready to refresh the Keenan and Sanford Rooms. The goal is to create a more comfortable, updated space for dining and gathering Planned improvements include:
A more functional and inviting bar layout
New flooring, chairs, tables, and barstools
Updated soft goods and fresh paint
New lighting
Additional TVs
Warm regards,
Jason Seehafer
McConnell Golf VP of Operations & Treyburn Country Club GM

Best regards, Matt McConnell Membership Director

Dear Treyburn Members,
The season is in full swing, and the golf course is in outstanding condition. The greens have recovered quickly following our March aerification, and Mark Snell and his team continue to do an exceptional job maintaining the course despite the recent severe drought in the Durham area.
We have begun moving topsoil to the areas surrounding the new paths on Hole 8 and the parking lot. Once the zoysia sod is installed, these areas will be fully completed. Additionally, the team has put two new pull-behind rough mowers into operation. As a result, the rough is now maintained at approximately 1½ inches, helping us prevent it from exceeding 2 inches during peak Bermuda growth this summer. We believe this will lead to an improved pace of play and a more enjoyable experience for all. Be sure to take a look the next time you see the team out on the course.
Please continue to do your part in maintaining course conditions by filling divots, repairing ball marks, raking bunkers after use, and properly disposing of cigarette butts These small efforts go a long way in enhancing the experience for everyone on the course
We also ask that all members adhere to the club’s dress code. Hats must be worn forward, men’s shirts must be tucked in, and all attire should comply with the guidelines outlined in our Rules & Regulations. These standards apply to the golf course, driving range, and clubhouse. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to a member of our professional staff.
The TLGA Ladies Member-Guest, held April 24th–25th, was a tremendous success with a full field of 80 participants. Teams competed in an Eclectic Two-Best Ball format over two rounds Congratulations to our winners, and thank you to all who participated
May and June are packed with exciting member events Highlights include the Ladies Member-Member, the Men’s Spring Two-Day Invitational, the Men’s and Super Senior Club Championships, and the Men’s Member-Member
Looking ahead, registration for the Men’s Member-Guest in October one of our most popular events will open for Community & Invitational Full Golf Members from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Monday, June 1st If fewer than 60 teams register during this window, remaining spots will be made available to Junior & Fazio Memberships through a separate registration period, with entry likely determined by lottery. Additional details will be shared soon.
Summer also means the return of our Junior Golf Camps. These four-day camps feature instruction, games, snacks, and pool time providing a fun and welcoming introduction to the game while helping juniors connect with fellow members. The next session runs June 9th–12th from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM, with an optional afternoon session extending to 3:00 PM. We hope to see many of our junior golfers there. Registration is available on the main calendar.
The Professional Golf Staff looks forward to hosting a full calendar of events in the coming months, with opportunities for players of all skill levels. We are here to make your experience at Treyburn as enjoyable and memorable as possible please don’t hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can do to enhance your time at the club.
Thank you for your continued support of the Treyburn Golf Operation.
Best Regards,
Ryan Vance Director of Golf

In March, Old North State Club played host to the second annual McConnell Golf Tournament of Champions with 15 clubs being represented. Congratulations to Raleigh Country Club as they defended their team title, shooting -12 under par. In the individual divisions, Ryan Tyndall (The Reserve Golf Club) won the Men's Club Championship, Caroline Ellington (Raleigh Country Club) won the Women's Club Championship, Hunter Grove (Raleigh Country Club) won the Senior/Super Senior Championship and Dalton Rich (Brook Valley Country Club) won the Professional Championship Thank you to the staff and membership at Old North State Club for their hospitality

Congratulations to Musgrove Mill Golf Club members Walt Todd Jr , Grainger Howle, Robert Lutomski along with golf professional Theo Davis on capturing the 42nd Trescott Championship! Finishing at 1-over (214), the team claimed the title in a sudden-death playoff on the first extra hole at Solina Golf Club
The Trescott Championship, named after the former long-time SCGA Secretary George C. Trescott, is a unique Club Championship where three amateur members from a club combine their aggregate score from each hole to compete for the Trescott Cup. During the course of play, a Pro-Am is also conducted with the three amateurs and their Club Professional using the best two gross balls per hole

McConnell Golf once again placed all of its North Carolina private clubs among the state’s Top 100 courses, highlighted by four clubs earning Top 25 rankings in the North Carolina Golf Panel’s 30th annual statewide rankings, published in the April issue of Business North Carolina magazine
Leading the portfolio is Greensboro’s Sedgefield Country Club, home of the PGA TOUR’s Wyndham Championship, ranked No 7 in North Carolina Old North State Club in New London followed at No 11, while Raleigh Country Club climbed to No 15 Durham’s Treyburn Country Club made one of the year’s biggest moves, jumping four spots into the Top 25 at No 25 In total, 11 McConnell Golf courses earned Top 100 recognition statewide, marking a strong year of upward momentum across the company’s North Carolina portfolio
Several Triangle-area clubs posted notable improvements. The Country Club at Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh made a significant leap, rising to No. 75 from No. 94 last year. Treyburn’s move into the Top 25 further strengthened the region’s standing among the state’s premier courses. Eastern North Carolina also saw major gains, as Wilson Country Club surged into the Top 100 at No. 84 after being unranked last year one of the largest upward moves in this year’s rankings
Other McConnell Golf properties earning Top 100 honors include:
Country Club of Asheville, ranked No 52, up two spots year-over-year
The Cardinal by Pete Dye in Greensboro, ranked No 54, continuing its steady upward trend
Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, improving to No 57
Providence Country Club in Charlotte, ranked No. 85.
Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, rounding out the list at No. 100.
McConnell Golf remains the only individual golf course owner in the world to steward four Donald Ross-designed courses, including Sedgefield Country Club and Raleigh Country Club, both of which continue to rank among North Carolina’s elite layouts The 2026 North Carolina Golf Panel rankings, based on playability, design, conditioning and experience, highlight another strong year driven by continued investment in courses, facilities and member experience

Hello to all of the newsletter readers For those of you who may not know me, I recently took over the Facilities Maintenance Director position here at Treyburn Country Club For those I have met, I’d like to extend my thanks for the warm welcome and smiles
I look forward to doing a lot of good here at Treyburn as we transition into the summer season I am especially looking forward to opening the pool, warmer days, and plenty of sunshine Also, since it has been so dry this year, I am looking forward to pollen season coming to an end
Speaking of pollen, it is not only bad for your breathing, but it is also bad for your air conditioner’s breathing Just like people, machines need to breathe as well This is a great time to make sure all of your air filters have been changed in your home
Not changing your filters is one of the most common causes of AC unit problems in the summer It can restrict airflow and cause your unit to run harder and hotter, eventually leading to compressor failure or a frozen system Pulling a fresh filter and changing it regularly can help reduce equipment failures, improve comfort in your home, and lead to a much happier summer season for all

We’ve launched our brand-new À La Carte menu! We’re excited to introduce fresh new additions alongside member favorites, all now available for lunch and dinner at Treyburn. From lighter seasonal selections to satisfying classics, there’s something new to try on your next visit. Join us and see what’s new at the table.

“I love Pistachio as much as I love cookies. The pistachio is the well-traveled, smart & cool nut that sits in the back of the class, quiet and barely noticed He doesn't require too much attention like the fancy Almond He doesn't have the thick Southern accent like the pecan, nor is he hard to crack and most desirable by squirrels like the walnut.” - Mike Moore

“As a chef and a father, I refused to let my kid have a limited palate As long as she tried at least three bites of any food I put in front of her to give her palate time to adjust, I would believe her if she did or didn’t like something. This for the most part has worked out well, and she eats all kinds of foods now. ” - Sean O’Neill
