CLUB EVENTS McConnell Ryder Cup Back to Back Champions The Reserve Ryder Cup team looks for the hat trick as we host this year’s McConnell Golf Ryder Cup. The Ryder Cup teams are made up of one professional and seven members from all McConnell golf properties. The event consists of three different formats over three days, ending with a champion being crowned (that would be the Reserve team the last two years).

We have hosted the last eleven years and hope to continue the tradition. Our team is lead by the legend, Donald Clement, and last year’s team will be returning. The Reserve looks to retain the trophy for the third year in a row, and assert our dominance over the other MCG properties.

The event is set to kick off on November 16th-18th.

Turkey Hill Invitational A new champion was crowned this year! The battle for the Turkey Hill came down to Jay Buckley and Greg Hebard versus Orrell Saulsbury and Chip Saulsbury. The stage was set for a par 3 set up from the right side of 18 fairway to a tucked right pin. Jay decided to take on the flag and hit a beautiful draw to about six feet where his partner sank the putt to seal the deal.

CLUB NEWS New scorecards on the horizon The new scorecards are in the process of being made and we would like to share what changes you will see. The first change is the addition of the hybrid tees, Tournament (mix of Reserve Tee & Back Tee) and the Back/Middle Tee (mix of Back Tee & Middle Tee). You will see each set has their own color and will have an arrow pointing to which tee should be played for that hole. The slope and rating for these tees will be located on the right side of the scorecard. The Short tees will now be displayed hole by hole. Our handicap holes will now be displayed at the bottom of the scorecard. The Championship Tee and Reserve Tee will have a separate shot allocation than the rest of the tees listed below.

Against the Odds One of the founding members here at The Reserve Golf Club, Mike Marino, was able to achieve two of the toughest feats in golf, only weeks apart. On September 13th, he made a hole in one on #7 here at the Reserve. The hole was playing 110 yards and all he needed was a wedge. On October 4th, he shot his age of 75 for the first time. The odds of making a hole in one are roughly 12,500 to 1 and shooting your age we’re sure is higher. The only thing Mike didn’t do is win the billion dollar power ball, but none the less we think his lessons with Head Golf Professional Justin Morris are paying off greater.

Our tailgate on the turf brought out everyone’s inner spirit.

From Bull dog fans to panther fanatics, everyone showed out for their team. The weather was fantastic and the golf was even better. We had 36 players competing this year and our winners had the right play calls all day and pulled out the 4th quarter win.

On behalf of McConnell golf and the RWGL, we appreciate all of the guests that played this year. We look forward to next year!
