MEMBERSHIP UPDATES Fall Is in Full Swing…and the Holidays Are Just Around the Corner! Where has the year gone?! It feels like we were just gearing up for summer, and now the leaves are changing, football season is in full swing, and the holidays are right around the corner! Fall is always such a beautiful time at Holston Hills. One might even say fall golf is our members’ favorite time of year to play! It’s been wonderful seeing our members and their families enjoying everything the club has to offer. On the membership side, September and October have kept me busy, too! Between tours, Preview Play Days, applications, phone calls, and countless emails, the days continue to fly by. During these past two months, we were excited to welcome 17 new families to the Holston Hills Country Club and McConnell Golf family. One of the most exciting parts of membership growth continues to be the number of families who find their way to HHCC through YOU! Member referrals are such an important part of introducing new families to our club, and they speak volumes about the pride you have in Holston Hills and the experiences you share here. Whether you’re inviting friends to join you for dinner, talking about your golf game, or sharing your favorite club memories, you help others see what makes HHCC so special. Thank you for continuing to be our great members!
MEMBERSHIP NOTES: Stay in the Know: Be sure to watch for emails —especially the HHCC Weekly Happenings on Tuesday afternoons— and check the event calendar on our website. We don’t want you and your family to miss out! November and December are shaping up to be just as busy, with holiday events, parades, parties, and plenty of opportunities to spend time with family and friends. Amid all the holiday hustle and bustle, we hope you’ll make time to get out and enjoy the club, too!
🧡
Wishing you and your families a wonderful holiday season, and as always, GO BIG ORANGE!
Dara Jenkins | Membership & Communications Director DJenkins@HolstonHills.com
On a personal note…Many of you know that we sold our house in just three days and had to pack up and move out within 21 days! Everything went into storage, and since the first week of August, we’ve been living up at Waterside Marina on Norris Lake. To say it’s been an adventure—and a test of Chris’s and my marriage— would be an understatement! The Good News: We closed on our new house on October 23 and spent October 30 and 31 moving in. After a few months of living out of storage, spending close to three hours driving every day, and calling the lake home, it feels GREAT to finally be settling into our new place!
Please help me welcome our newest Holston Hills Country Club members.

A NOTE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER Dear HHCC Members, There is something special about the transition from fall into the holiday season. The air turns crisp, sweaters find their way out of the closet, and our days begin to look a little different. At HHCC, we trade a busy calendar of golf tournaments, tee times, and afternoons on the patio for the warmth of holiday gatherings and a clubhouse filled with celebration. We are excited to welcome this next season—from our own club festivities to intimate holiday parties hosted by businesses and members. Big meals, familiar faces, and time around a table remind us how much of life happens in the simple moments we share. Transitions are part of life, and the changing seasons offer a chance to pause and appreciate where we are. November and December can fill up quickly with commitments, planning, and preparations. My hope is that, somewhere in the bustle, each of you finds time to reflect, enjoy your loved ones, and make room for the traditions and people who mean the most. Whether you are celebrating at home or spending time with your Holston family, I hope you make the most of this season. Linger over dinner, catch up with a friend, bring the family to the club, and let yourself enjoy the occasion. Thank you for the friendships, traditions, and everyday kindness you bring to Holston Hills. Our membership makes this club a place where people feel connected, and our team is grateful to help make those moments special. Wishing you and your families a wonderful holiday season filled with good food, laughter, and plenty of time together.

CHEF CORNER Dear Members,
Brunch Menu
Wishing you and your families a warm and happy holiday season. I’m really looking forward to the next couple of months with you. Fall has always been one of my favorite times to cook—the cooler weather, the richer flavors, and the chance to slow down a bit and enjoy meals together. We’re still adding to the Turn Shack menu. You’ll now find biscuit sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, and fruit and granola parfaits out there. They’re easy options if you want something quick before, during, or after your round. We’re also rolling out new food and beverage specials around the club, so keep an eye out for seasonal items that fit the weather.
SUNDAY BRUNCH MENU
Coming up, we have two events I’m especially glad we’re doing: Thanksgiving Brunch — a nice way to celebrate with family and friends without having to cook everything yourself. Santa’s Breakfast — always a fun morning for the kids (and a little break for the parents).
We serve Sunday Brunch every Sunday in our Donald Ross Dining Room! Join us for an à la carte brunch menu featuring a delicious combination of Holston Hills favorites and classic brunch dishes. Enjoy favorites like our Holston Egg Platter, Biscuits & Gravy, Mimosas, and more!
I also wanted to share a simple fall recipe you can make at home. This butternut squash bisque is smooth and comforting, and it makes about four generous servings.
Gather the family and make Sunday Brunch at Holston Hills part of your weekly tradition!
Thanks for the continued support as we keep making small improvements to the dining experience here. I hope to see you around the club this season—whether you’re grabbing something at the Turn Shack, trying one of the specials, or joining us for one of the holiday events. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a joyful holiday season.

CHEF’S RECIPE
PASTABILITIES THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12 | 5:00 PM (start) $17.95++ per person
BUTTERNUT SQUASH BISQUE It’s straightforward and tastes like fall. Pair it with a crusty roll or a simple green salad, and you have an easy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients: 1 medium butternut squash (about 2½–3 lbs), peeled, seeded, and cubed ½ cup heavy cream (or half-and-half) 1 medium yellow onion, diced 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or ½ tsp 2 cloves garlic, minced dried) 2 Tbsp olive oil or unsalted butter Salt and black pepper, to taste 4 cups vegetable or chicken stock Optional garnish: toasted pumpkin seeds, a drizzle of cream, or a little crispy sage
Dine in with us and let us create your pasta for you! A Chef will attend the Live Action Pasta Station, which will feature Marinara Sauce, Parmesan Cream Sauce, Nut-Free Basil Pesto, two types of noodles, and a variety of toppings. *Reservations encouraged & Dine-in Only
Birthday Night
Method: Heat the oil or butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until soft, about 5–6 minutes. Stir in the garlic and thyme and cook for 1 minute more. Add the cubed squash and stock. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat and cook until the squash is very tender, about 20–25 minutes. Remove from the heat and blend until smooth. An immersion blender is easiest; if you use a regular blender, work in batches and be careful with the hot liquid. Return the soup to the pot, stir in the cream, and season with salt and pepper. Warm it gently for a few minutes and adjust the seasoning if needed. Ladle into bowls and finish with your choice of garnish

As we wrap up another fantastic season, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for making this year so memorable. It has been an incredible year of competition, camaraderie, and outstanding golf. The course has been as busy as ever, which is a true testament to the momentum we are building together as we continue our mission to make Holston Hills the best club in Knoxville. Looking ahead, we have an exceptionally special milestone on the horizon. Next year marks our Centennial year, celebrating 100 years of rich history, tradition, and excellence at Holston Hills. We are already hard at work preparing for a monumental year of events and celebrations that will honor our storied past while continuing to elevate our facility for the future. An extraordinary golf experience relies on a passionate and dedicated team, and I want to extend special recognition to those who made this year so successful: Thank you to Ryan Blair and his entire agronomy team for their endless hard work and dedication. Their commitment to maintaining exceptional playing conditions day in and day out kept our course in prime shape throughout the entire season. A huge thank you to Josh Delorme for his massive efforts in running our tournament season and events. His attention to detail and seamless execution ensured our competitions and member events ran smoothly and delivered memorable experiences for everyone involved. Thank you as well to Dylan Moncus for keeping the merchandise new and fresh. We are sad to see him go, but wish him well at his next club near Auburn, AL. Thank you all once again for your trust, enthusiasm, and support. We are extraordinarily excited for what lies ahead during our Centennial year.

HHCC Tournament Golf Recap What a 2026 season it's been! Our members (and their guests) brought their A-game, great sportsmanship, and plenty of energy to every event. The Donald Ross Invitational Member-Guest was definitely a highlight of the season, featuring three days of great golf, competition, and fun! The excitement continued with our Club Championships! The Men’s Championship Flight came down to the final hole, where a birdie putt could have sent our top two players into a playoff. The putt just missed to the left, crowning a new Men’s Club Champion, Kory Webb! On the Women’s side, Melissa Walsh won her 13th consecutive Club Championship! It was an exciting finish to a fantastic weekend of golf.
Congratulations again to all our flight winners and champions—and a big thank-you to everyone who played, volunteered, and supported our tournaments this year. The titles and trophies are great, but it’s the camaraderie and sense of community that make Holston Hills so special. We’re already looking ahead to next year and can’t wait to see you back on the first tee for another memorable season! Josh Delorme, PGA | Assistant Golf Professional Jdelorme@HolstonHills.com

TURF TALK A Year in Review – Golf Course & Grounds This past year, we kicked off the golf season by hosting our sixth Visit Knoxville Open. The weather leading up to the tournament was beautiful, and we were ready for what looked to be a great week of golf. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans, and we were plagued by rain throughout each day of the official tournament rounds. Our PGA Agronomist commented that he had never been to a tournament where the entire course could still be mowed each morning, yet players were allowed to play preferred lies in the fairways. This once again demonstrated just how well our course drains and how fortunate we were to have recently completed our bunker renovation. Had we received that much rain during earlier tournament years, we likely would have been forced to suspend play. Despite the challenging weather, Doc Redman finished the week as our Visit Knoxville Open Champion and went on to earn his PGA TOUR card later in the season. As we moved into the summer months, we once again saw an increase in rounds played, resulting in a very busy golf course. With labor shortages becoming the new normal, we have continued to adapt the way we schedule our daily course maintenance. Our focus has shifted toward utilizing more part-time staff members who work early mornings rather than relying solely on full-time staff members who are here throughout the day. The 4:30 AM start times have become the standard for my team during the summer months as we work to accomplish as much as possible before the day's play begins. I am incredibly proud of what my staff accomplished this year and how everyone embraced these adjustments to our normal daily routines. Out on the course, we were able to achieve several of our turf management goals, including increased topdressing on the putting surfaces, adjustments to our pre-emergent program, and a reduction in moss on the greens, just to name a few. Overall, we had a great year, and I am proud of what our team accomplished. I look forward to another busy and successful season ahead! COURTSIDE
Greetings from the Courts! It’s been a great couple of months on the courts at Holston Hills! Team Pickles took home the win at our Paddles vs. Pickles event, and congratulations to Corbin Waddell and Allie King on winning our Mixed Doubles Championship! Looking ahead, we’re excited to introduce two new weekly offerings: High School Tennis Clinic and Friday Night Lights Tennis! Be sure to check the club’s schedule for details and join us on the courts. A big thank-you to everyone for helping keep our courts clean, clear of stray tennis balls, and ready for play. We also appreciate everyone staying on top of court reservations. If you have any questions or need assistance registering for an event or reserving a court, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to help! Thanks for being part of our growing tennis and pickleball community. Here’s to great rallies, friendly competition, and plenty of fun on the courts. See you out there!
