LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Graduate,
When we hear the word “commencement” this time of year, we often think of the end of a journey. And it is true that with graduation, today also marks the end of an academic process for you and for many, the conclusion of your formal academic education. And yet we call it commencement because it is also a form of beginning
The next stage of your life is full of possibilities. The degree you have earned is more than just an accolade or credential, it is also a calling to lead and to serve. Our university has long embraced its role in training future leaders who go on to serve society in countless ways. For your own contribution to this legacy, the skills, knowledge, creativity, and curiosity you developed as a Longhorn will serve you well.
Today we celebrate both your individual successes and our collective accomplishments. You have been part of artistic and creative works, technological breakthroughs, and acts of kindness and compassion that have helped others on and off campus. The Class of 2022 embraced its opportunities and faced its challenges – and our faculty, staff, and alumni applaud you for your dedication and resilience. It is truly an honor to come together in this moment and recognize your extraordinary achievements.
As you leave the Forty Acres and take your place as leaders and change agents, you do so with our full confidence. I am excited to see what you achieve, where your degree takes you, who you serve, and how you will change the world.
Congratulations and Hook ‘em!
Jay Hartzell, President
The
University of Texas at Austin
LETTER FROM THE DEAN

You graduate at a pivotal moment in McCombs’ history — our centennial — and you are poised to launch into a new century of innovation, connection, and impact. As business leaders across the globe look to Austin, Texas for inspiration, they’re also looking to you to tell the world what’s next. I know that you’re up to the task. Your experiences, challenges, and success at UT have prepared you for this. You will innovate with purpose. You will make connections that never existed before. And you will lead with thought and empathy.

STUDENT SPEAKER
LAUREN BRITT
Lauren Britt is a senior studying Finance at the University of Texas at Austin. She grew up in Pearland, Texas, and quickly found a passion for knowledge, ingenuity, and personal relationships through her academics and playing volleyball. During her time at the University of Texas, Lauren strived to create a connection with her peers and her school through her involvement: she served as the Vice President of the San Jacinto Residence Hall Association, the Internal Affairs Officer of the Texas Women in Business Association, and was a Peer-Led Undergraduate Study (PLUS) Group, Facilitator. The role she covets most is being the Assistant Program Coordinator for Texas McCombs Wealth Management Center in which she developed student outreach and marketing efforts, hosted both student and industry professional events, and helped grow the Center’s talented team.
