With the education I receive from MCC, I plan on continuing my education at Stephen’s College to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree. I plan to use the Associate’s Degree in Architectural Design Technology to become a drafter. This is a major career shift from the arts & entertainment industry, in which some of us sometimes draft temporary things, to full-time drawing as a profession. I had started a Bachelor’s degree in Biology in my 20’s, and have always enjoyed reading about health, medicine, and wellness. I was working as an appliance installer and had an accident which prevented me from continuing. I decided it was time to return to school and pursue the medical field which has been so appealing to me.

I am on a fixed income and this scholarship will help me greatly in getting needed tools.

I hope to repair and refinish old trucks that would otherwise just be forgotten or junked.

It’s my hobby that I’d like to turn into my career, and now I will have the tools to do better work. I graduated from high school in the late 70’s, and never had the time or money to go to college. I have been waiting to take classes at MCC for 40 years, and now I can finally pursue my dream.

How has this scholarship helped you achieve your goals?

I am a military spouse, who was transferred to Nebraska for first orders. I enrolled into MCC right away to continue furthering my education and was accepted into the LPN program in the fall. I plan on returning next year with acceptance into the RN program.
