INSIGHT OF THE MONTH Since the rollout of Glean, McCarthy’s enterprise AI tool, partners have been discovering unique and resourceful ways to use Glean for everyday tasks. Learn how some of our Southwest Partners are maximizing this tool!

I hold bi-weekly Work Plan Standardization meetings via Teams with a core group of SMEs. During these meetings, we review work plan drafts together and collaborate on needed changes, including updates to wording, formatting, and visual content such as pictures. I try to make changes in real time during the meetings whenever possible. However, when multiple SMEs are providing feedback and discussing several changes at once, it can be challenging to capture every detail in real time. To help ensure that no feedback is missed, I use the Teams meeting recap transcript after each meeting. I download the transcript after each meeting and use Glean to identify Key Takeaways and Change Suggestions from the discussion.

INDUSTRY EVENTS

& PARTNERSHIPS WEST-MEC STUDENTS EXPLORE CAREERS AT CHANDLER PREFABRICATION CENTER West-MEC welding students recently visited our prefabrication facility in Chandler, AZ for an inside look at the people, processes and career opportunities that support our projects. The tour gave students an opportunity to learn more about the importance of prefabrication. The junior and senior students, who now use West-MEC’s recently completed facility, explored how work in a prefabrication shop compares with work in the field. The visit also highlighted the importance of welding, technical skills and hands-on learning across the AEC industry. More than a facility tour, the experience encouraged students to picture themselves building careers in construction. By connecting classroom learning with a real-world workplace, the visit showcased the technical, creative and rewarding paths available to them.

PROJECT EVENTS &

MILESTONE CELEBRATIONS CRAFT APPRECIATION WEEK AT ECHOLS GROVE SOLAR Craft Appreciation Week is about recognizing the people who make every project possible. At the Echols Grove Solar Project in Texas, we celebrated our craft workforce with an on-site coffee truck, sponsored by a vendor and coordinated with support from our 02S Electrical Partners. The gesture offered a meaningful moment to thank craft professionals for showing up every day, working safely, and taking pride in their craft. Small acts of appreciation like this reflect the culture we strive to build, one where craft professionals know their contributions are valued and their work continues to move projects forward.

INVESTING IN THE PEOPLE WHO

Build McCarthy CRAFT APPRECIATION WEEK RECAP Every project we build stands because of the people who show up and do the hard work. Craft Appreciation Week was a chance to pause and honor our Southwest craft professionals. Translating plans into reality, they carry their commitment to safety onto every job site and bring a level of skill and pride to their work that sets McCarthy apart. Recognizing our craft is a reflection of who we are as a company and the culture we have built together. To every craft professional across the company: thank you. Thank you for your craftsmanship, your dedication, and your commitment to going home safely every single day. The work you do moves us forward and has left a mark on the communities we build in.

& TEAM BUILDINGS SELF PERFORM MECHANICAL AND MEP-FOCUSED PARTNERS GATHERED FOR AN HVAC TRAINING SESSION Our partners recently had the opportunity to take a deep dive into HVAC airflow principles and design criteria, exploring the technical foundations that directly shape the quality of the systems they install every day. The training created a space for our team to sharpen their skills and grow their expertise. Sessions like these show that when our teams understand the "why" behind the work, the results speak for themselves on every project.

CARLA'S RETIREMENT PARTY After years with McCarthy, Carla Scherf recently retired from her role as an executive assistant supporting the Renewable Energy group. Much of an executive assistant's impact happens behind the scenes, but Carla's steady partnership was felt throughout the team. "Carla's partnership and impact have meant more to us than words can capture. Her calm, her care, and her dedication to this team and business unit made a lasting difference every single day. Wishing her every moment of happiness of this well-deserved retirement!" -Britnney Ryan We thank Carla for her years of service, she will be missed!

SHANNON'S 30TH YEAR WORK ANNIVERSARY The contracts team recently celebrated partner Shannon Nelson’s 30-year work anniversary and recognized this incredible milestone with a special team celebration. VANTAGE WISCONSIN TURNER McCARTHY JV ATTENDED REGIONAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT WITH PARTNERS Teamwork extends beyond the job site. TMJV partners from Turner and McCarthy came together to field two softball teams for the annual Turner Regional Softball Tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio. 51ST AVENUE FORCE MAINS & GRAVITY SEWER

CITY OF PHOENIX | PHOENIX, AZ

As the region’s first direct-to-client civil project, the 51st Avenue Force Mains & Gravity Sewer project installed roughly 14,000 LF of new sewer conveyance in Phoenix to allow for future residential and commercial growth in Northern Phoenix. This was accomplished through connecting two existing 24-inch sanitary sewer force mains at Lift Station 77 and constructing two new HDPE 24inch force mains along the 51st Avenue alignment, through existing 48-inch steel casings beneath Arizona’s Loop 303 highway. When there were items that came up in the field, the team met, came up with corrective measures, and the issues were addressed promptly.” - David Markert, Wilson Engineers

Our experience on our Northeast Campus project with the team from McCarthy was a seamless operation. Facing multiple challenges from constructing on an occupied campus to being in the immediate flight path of the busiest municipal airport in the U.S. creates its own set of obstacles. From the perspective of campus operations, the team did an outstanding job insulating our staff and students from activities on the job site. This occurs when the construction team has a great relationship with the campus team. Clear and frequent communication was paramount. Safety was an obvious priority as well. The organization and cleanliness of the job site fosters a safe environment and promotes safe practices. Something we, as a career and technical education district, appreciate as our students are exposed to the activity and observe things being done properly and professionally. Kudos to a job well done Team McCarthy! -Matt Heath | Executive Director Facilities & Construction Department

SPOTLIGHT 02S CONCRETE PREFAB TEAM COMPLETES LARGEST GATES COLUMN FORM EVER The 02S SW Prefab Concrete team recently completed a record-setting milestone: a 27-foot-tall custom column, the largest column form ever built using the Gates column clamp system and the largest Gates has ever seen. The numbers behind the build tell part of the story. Each clamp weighed approximately 300 pounds, and the complete formwork system came in at nearly 12,000 pounds. Despite early concerns about managing loads of that scale, the craft team safely rigged and assembled every section, delivering a quality product to the jobsite team on time and without incident.

VANTAGE AZ1 TORCH AWARD To be the winner of the AZ1 Torch Award means being recognized by the people who stand beside you every single day and experience firsthand what you bring to this team. The award was built on the premise that nobody understands what Smart and Healthy partnership looks like better than the people living it, and so the decision belongs entirely to them. This quarter, they chose Assistant Project Safety Manager, Marisa Flores. The team has spoken, and it is our honor to recognize Marisa as the Q2 winner of the AZ1 Torch Award. Congratulations, Marisa!

WHAT THE TEAM SAYS ABOUT MARISA "Marisa is a truly humble servant leader, creating an environment where people feel supported, informed, and empowered to do their very best work. She consistently puts the needs of the team ahead of her own, and every person on this jobsite feels her impact. Marisa takes the time to genuinely know the craft, investing in the well-being of every trade partner as if it were her own. She leads with integrity, communicates openly and effectively, and follows through every single time. Trade partners and teammates alike have come to trust her because of who she is and how she shows up for the people around her every single day. On this jobsite, Marisa Flores is beloved."

ABOUT THE SUPERVISORY TRAINING PROGRAM

The Supervisory Training Program is a nationally recognized six course certificate program developed by the Associated General Contractors of America. For more than 130,000 construction supervisors and managers nationwide, this program has been the professional development standard for building strong, effective leaders. The program focuses on the core skills every supervisor needs to manage people, time, equipment, and materials successfully. It is designed for anyone currently in or aspiring to a supervisory role on a construction jobsite. What makes this program stand out is how it is delivered. Each course is highly interactive and activity based, using real jobsite scenarios, group discussions, case histories, and hands on exercises. Participants learn from one another and apply lessons directly to day to day operations. At our company, the experience is further strengthened by instructors who are also McCarthy partners. Superintendents, managers, directors, legal, quality, safety, and field leaders bring real world perspective into the classroom. These shared experiences ensure the content is practical, relevant, and immediately useful in the field. With continued growth across the company, two programs are planned for this year. Support and participation from partners at all levels will help ensure the success of this next phase. Redefining School Construction: Integration that Reaches Beyond the Project Fence As the Arizona K12 market faces declining enrollment, school district leaders are placing a greater emphasis on updating, modernizing, and expanded existing infrastructure, rather than building entirely new schools. Katie Smith and Natalie Carroll break down ways project teams can embrace active campus construction and better integrate the needs and curiosities of the students, parents, teachers, and surrounding community.
