Celebrating our students

Analise Williams earned a Distinction grade in her T Level Health qualification. She is heading to Teesside University to study for a degree in Paramedic Practice.

“My favourite part of the T Levels course has definitely been the practical learning, especially the hands-on work in the second year, and of course the placement. I’m a practical person, which is why I chose T Levels, because I wanted to learn on the job.”

Aaron Burton secured A*’s in mathematics and further mathematics and an A in his physics A Levels and progressed to Durham University to study for a degree in mathematics.

“The support I’ve had from my tutors here at the College has been great, they’ve given me the guidance I needed to succeed in my A Levels and built my confidence when I was struggling. I’m so pleased with my results and can’t wait to get to Durham University and eventually launch a career in statistics.”

Logan Riley earned himself a Merit on his Design Surveying and Planning for Construction T Level course. He is now starting his apprenticeship at Rainham Industrial Services as a Quantity Surveyor and is looking at doing part time study at Northumbria University to further his qualifications.

If anyone is considering applying for a T Level at Middlesbrough College, I’d just say go for it. There’s nothing else like it that gives you the theory as well as that experience in the workplace.”

Taking A Level students higher

A Levels are academic courses and Universities, and employers love them!

A Levels are a good option if you are academic, and you want to progress to University. They allow you to keep your options open and study a range of degree programmes or progress straight into employment.

If you choose to study A Levels with us, you’ll pick 3 A Level subjects which will make up your study programme.

We also offer a range of A Level equivalent applied courses through our Mix it Up programme. These are vocationally orientated qualifications and are generally assessed through a mix of coursework and external examinations. These courses are ideal if you enjoy learning in a practical and work-related way. If you choose to study our Mix it Up programme, you’ll pick either 2 A Levels and 1 A Level applied equivalent, or 1 A Level and 2 A Level applied equivalent qualifications.

Brook progressed to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to study for a degree in Production Arts and Stage Management. Guildhall School of Music and Drama is famous for their notable alumni, which include Daniel Craig, Ewan McGregor and Lily James!

Middlesbrough College was a fantastic place to study. We had so many opportunities to work on shows and gain hands-on industry experience. I was always learning something new and learning about different areas of the sector. I had the opportunity to gain work experience at Darlington Hippodrome on a production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. It’s great that the College helped me to gain meaningful work experience and it’s been a brilliant addition to my CV.

I was able to progress on to a Level 2 IT & Digital course at the College which I’ve been doing really

well in. I’ve also made new friends at the College who have similar life experiences to me too. It’s been great to meet other students from across the globe and we all speak English together to improve our skills. The ESOL course was like one big family, we all supported each and other and I’m still close with lots of my classmates. The College is a comfortable, friendly and safe environment and I’m happy that I’ve been able to come and study here.”
