Club history
Market Bosworth RFC was founded in 1965 by a group of local rugby enthusiasts who were passionate about the sport and wanted to create a team that could compete against other local sides.
The founding members faced many challenges in those early years, including a lack of facilities, funding, and equipment. However, they were determined to succeed and worked tirelessly to build a strong and competitive team as well as the small matter of a clubhouse!
As the club grew, it began to attract more players and supporters. In the 1980s, the club achieved a significant milestone when it won the Leicestershire Merit Table and was promoted to the County League. This marked a turning point for the club, as it began to establish itself as a force to be reckoned with in the local rugby community.
Over the years, Market Bosworth RFC has enjoyed many memorable moments on the pitch. The club has won various cups and tournaments, including the Leicestershire Cup, the Warwickshire Vase. The club has also produced several talented players, some of whom have gone on to play professional rugby and represent both country and the British & Irish Lions.

Off the pitch, Market Bosworth RFC is an active member of the local community. The club run a number of programs to encourage local people to get involved in rugby, including youth coaching clinics, school programs, and social events for members of all ages as well as supporting local clubs and societies including the art club, the Young Farmers and the local scout group. The club has also been involved in various charitable initiatives, raising money for local and national causes.
Market Bosworth RFC has continued to thrive. The club is now going through a fresh lease of life with a brand new executive committee headed up by former mini junior player Sam Harding. In such a short space of time we have seen the clubhouse under go a refit, new roof fitted and improvements to the driveway.
There is major growth on the pitch too with the pregression of the girls section (U12, U14, U16 & U18). Our senior women’s team, the Lionesses, has now entered into National Championship league 3 and look forward to a new and challenging season ahead.
With a rich history and a strong community focus, Market Bosworth RFC looks set to continue to be a key part of the local rugby community for many years to come.

Cheltenham Tigers RFC
Travelling up from Gloucestershire, the Cheltenham Tigers are delighted to be once again invited to the Market Bosworth Rugby Festival, this time as under 13s. When the invite came through from Tom, we knew the boys would be eager to return – this time without our ceremonial swords and Japanese head gear.
Market Bosworth were fantastic hosts last year and we look forward to another opportunity to take part in this well-run festival.
The standard of rugby last time was exceptional and our boys had to fight hard in every fixture. Having an opportunity to play such well-established and strong opponents is so valuable to the team and our coaches.
The Cheltenham Tigers under 13s are roaring to go, and are here to compete, utilising skill, teamwork, discipline, and determination.

Wolverhampton RFC
The Wolfpack were delighted with their finish in last year’s competition and are extremely grateful to be invited back this year.
Unfortunately our off season has been blighted by our club’s extreme financial difficulties which led to a large rise in membership fees and also a decline in player numbers.
Despite these challenges the core of the squad has remained together and if anything is even closer knit than before.
We have no expectations this time around. Just looking forward to playing against some fantastic sides and having a great days rugby.
The Wolfpack remains! It’s more than a family. It’s a way of life!
