A MESSAGE FROM POLICE CHIEF

WAYNE A. JONES THE CHIEF'S CORNER As we begin 2026, I want to take a moment to recognize the professionalism, dedication, and commitment that define the Miami Beach Police Department. Every day, you serve a dynamic and diverse community with integrity and care. Whether in uniform or in a professional staff role, your work directly supports the safety, stability, and quality of life of our city. The high standards you uphold— often under demanding circumstances— reflect the strength and credibility of this organization. Over the past year, your collective efforts have continued to make a measurable impact. Through proactive policing, strong partnerships, and the effective use of technology and data, MBPD remains at the forefront of modern law enforcement. These results are not the product of any single unit or individual, but of a department that works together with purpose and discipline. As we move forward this year, we will continue to focus on operational excellence, accountability, and innovation —always with officer safety, community trust, and service at the center of our mission. I am confident that the foundation you have built will allow us to meet the challenges ahead and continue delivering the highest level of public safety to the City of Miami Beach.

Thank you for your professionalism, your teamwork, and your continued commitment to this department. Your work does not go unnoticed, and I am proud to serve alongside you.

#YOURMBPD NEWS Midnight Shift in Action While much of the city rests, the Miami Beach Police Department’s Midnight Officers are actively patrolling our streets, responding to calls for service, and keeping our community safe during the overnight hours. From high-visibility patrols to critical incident response, the midnight shift plays a vital role in maintaining safety when resources are stretched and situations can change quickly. Working overnight requires a unique level of focus, adaptability, and teamwork. Officers must remain alert, make sound decisions under pressure, and rely heavily on one another to navigate complex and often unpredictable situations. Whether responding to emergencies, conducting proactive policing, or assisting residents and visitors in need, the midnight shift continues to demonstrate professionalism and dedication. We recognize and appreciate the commitment of our Midnight Officers who work through the night to ensure Miami Beach remains safe around the clock. Their service, resilience, and teamwork reflect the very best of MBPD. The Gold Standard | 2

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

“I wanted to take a moment to recognize Sergeant Juan Balceiro for the help he gave me when my car was stolen last Thursday. COMMUNITY MATTERS

Traffic and Noise Enforcement Efforts To support public safety and preserve quality of life across Miami Beach, MBPD officers are actively enforcing traffic laws and noise ordinances, with a focus on speeding, loud mufflers, and excessive vehicle noise. These violations not only disrupt residents and businesses, but also create safety concerns for drivers, pedestrians, and first responders. Ongoing enforcement helps ensure our streets remain safe, orderly, and respectful for everyone who lives, works, and visits our city. Take a look at our recent reel on Instagram to see how officers are addressing this issue in real time and helping keep Miami Beach moving safely and quietly.
