This class begins with stretching followed by mindfulness for 20 minutes. Stretching is vital as it lengthens and elongates muscles improving flexibility and elasticity. Stretching has many benefits including improving posture, decreasing back pain, and preventing injury. Our mindfulness portion will give us the opportunity to drop down into stillness with an emphasis on breath and presence. Mindful awareness adds insight to our overall existence. The practice increases vitality, encourages health and wellness, decreases stress, promotes inner peace and calm, and has even been proven to reduce blood pressure and boost immune function. This combination of stretching and mindfulness practice will leave you feeling relaxed, calm, and serene. Instructor: Timilie Losq.

March Discussion: The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams
Sara Misha Adams’s The Reading List (2021) is a heartwarming novel about a list of recommended novels, left mysteriously in a library book, that comes to circulate among the patrons of a small branch library in the West London suburb of Wembley. The novel celebrates the old-school joys of reading: the act of getting involved emotionally with stories about made-up people doing made-up things. Marginalized in a world of a-literates— those who know how to read but, too entranced by the fetching lure of gadgets, opt not to—books can still create communities of sympathetic souls. The Reading List, Adams’s first novel, became an improbable international bestseller, helped not only by generous critical reviews but also by buzz on social media, where readers hailed Adams’s ability to capture the simple magic of reading.

Located in South East Asia, the Republic of Indonesia, is the largest island country in the world, with over 17,000 islands and a population of over 225 million. Straddling the equator, the islands enjoy a tropical climate and the climate is split into dry and rainy seasons.
Formerly colonized by the British, Portuguese, Japanese and Dutch, Indonesia declared independence in 1945, and Bahasa Indonesia was declared the national language. A form of Malay language mixed with words from Arabic, Dutch, and Portuguese. Nowadays, Indonesia is famous for its diverse and multicultural islands, from deeply religious in the north; to the country’s center of government in Java; to the tropical paradise of Bali; and all the way down to the province of Papua on the border with independent Papua New Guinea. The 4th most populous country in the world and the 15th largest according to land mass. There is surely something for every traveler wanting to explore this vast and diverse nation.
Come join us! Watch the presentation, explore its history, people, and soak up this unique landscape. As an added treat Peter Landecker & Sue Cutler (JCC regulars/ world travelers) will be sharing photos of their latest trip and scuba diving adventures.
