This class begins with stretching followed by mindfulness for 20 minutes. Stretching is vital as it lengthens and elongates muscles improving flexibility and elasticity. Stretching has many benefits including improving posture, decreasing back pain, and preventing injury. Our mindfulness portion will give us the opportunity to drop down into stillness with an emphasis on breath and presence. Mindful awareness adds insight to our overall existence. The practice increases vitality, encourages health and wellness, decreases stress, promotes inner peace and calm, and has even been proven to reduce blood pressure and boost immune function. June Discussion: The Feather Thief by Kirk Wallace Johnson
On a cool June evening in 2009, after performing a concert at London's Royal Academy of Music, twenty-year-old American flautist Edwin Rist boarded a train for a suburban outpost of the British Museum of Natural History. Home to one of the largest ornithological collections in the world, the Tring museum was full of rare bird specimens whose gorgeous feathers were worth staggering amounts of money to the men who shared Edwin's obsession: the Victorian art of salmon fly-tying. Once inside the museum, the champion fly-tier grabbed hundreds of bird skins--some collected 150 years earlier by a contemporary of Darwin's, Alfred Russel Wallace, who'd risked everything to gather them--and escaped into the darkness.

By Don Hedges
It was 1963 when I said my vows to thee, It was in a glass church that over-looked the sea, And Dave was there, too, as bearer of the ring That I put on her finger to make her my wife, Which she said she will wear for the rest of her life.
I met Dave a very very long time ago. I lived at his house and we built a canoe; We painted it white, and it sparkled
Like a star on a cold winters night.
The canoe has significance as you will see, We finished the canoe in the shop where we worked; There he met Janet, one of life’s little perks. We paddled on rivers and paddled on lakes, And we had a sail to help us along,
But we paddled a lot because
Back then we were quite strong.
In the canoe I met my wife and she could paddle real well, And did not mind getting dumped in a cold ocean swell.
As they say, good things don’t last:
The church of glass, the canoe, and Dave too, Are all gone but the memories will last.
I don’t often think of the hereafter,
But I believe he is in a place where his memory is intact
And his old tractor starts like the crack of a bat. He is sitting on the porch telling stories to friends who have gone before, And I think that some of them might possibly be true.
