Thank you to everyone who joined us on October 25th for the opening reception of "Back to the Roots"! We welcomed 206 guests and featured remarks from Time4Art Founder Homeira Goldstein, Councilmember Joe Franklin, Artist Marisa Caichiolo, and a special performance by Luchi Estevez.
The exhibition explores themes of heritage, migration, and memory, intertwining stories from Caichiolo’s European and South American ancestry. The artwork reflects on themes of identity and belonging, inviting viewers to connect with their own personal histories and shared human experiences across generations and borders.
“Back to the Roots” is now on view at the Manhattan Beach Art Center until December 29th, 2024.

What makes a human being? What makes you, YOU? Marisa Caichiolo explores themes of identity and heritage, especially in relation to our environment and Mother Nature.
In our Education Space, we implore you to create a representative collage or a pin-back button to express what makes you who you are. You can add your collage to the collaborative installation or take it home with you. Stop by to make a few custom pins to proudly display on your clothes or bags!
Gallery Tours Gallery Tours
Do you want to learn about our current exhibition through the guidance of our amazing, knowledgeable Gallery Attendants? The Manhattan Beach Art Center is proud to start hosting guided gallery tours of our current exhibition on Wednesday nights and Thursday afternoons. Tours will begin on Wednesday, November 13th at 7pm and will run until Thursday, December 19th at 1pm.
Each tour will lead you through the gallery, providing context or background information about the artist, her work, or the installation of the piece. After the tour, there will be ample time for you to create your own pieces in the Education Space with the guidance of a Gallery Attendant.

Holiday Succulent Wreath Workshop
Manhattan Beach Art Center
Decorate your home with a unique and handmade wreath filled with dramatic succulents. Because of their resistance to drought, succulents are the perfect living plant for your holiday wreath. Students will assemble a wreath with succulents, grape vines, and other decorative elements while learning to care for and propagate succulents. All materials and plants will be included.

Silver Metal Clay: Earrings with 5mm Stone
Workshop with Chris Brooks
In this workshop, beginning and returning students will learn at least two ways to set a 5mm stone in a pair of earrings. This small class offers plenty of individual attention in an intimate setting. Fee includes all materials and the use of all tools.
Please bring your own lunch, and glasses for detailed work if you need them. Firing will be done offsite and you will pick up your pieces at the Art Center. The class is located at the Manhattan Beach Art Center.

Manhattan Heights Community Center Banquet Hall
Join us at our Annual Crafts Morning or Night to make crafts and ornaments with the whole family! Enjoy breakfast or dinner, special treats, hot cocoa and coffee, as well.
