“The history of missions is the history of answered prayer.” - Samuel Zwemer
God has invited us to join him on his grand and glorious mission to reach the world with the transforming message of Jesus Christ. We’ve been commissioned to “go and make disciples of all nations.” The first step in this great adventure is prayer.
Prayer enables us to send disciples to make disciples who make disciples. It fuels our relationship with God, is instrumental in calling and equipping workers, and is a uniquely powerful tool for drawing the unbelieving world to Christ.
As missionary William Carey once noted, “One of the first, and most important duties which are incumbent upon us, is fervent and united prayer.”
Jesus promised his disciples, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7). Following Jesus’ instruction, we can ask for missionaries to be raised up and for the hearts of the lost to be open to the gospel. We can seek God for wisdom, resources, and ways to demonstrate his great love to the unreached. We can knock on prison doors and expect those sitting in darkness to be set free.
Consider this booklet an opportunity for us to partner together with God, asking, seeking, and knocking, that the world may know Jesus.
Here are some ways in which you can support Multiply’s Network of Missional Teams in prayer:
1. Praying for workers who are boots-onthe-ground, ministering incarnationally across cultural, political, and religious boundaries.
2. Encouraging workers with focused prayer and personal notes to remind them that they are not alone but are part of a caring community of believers.
3. Sharing this booklet with your families, small groups, and churches.
4. Giving to enable workers to continue serving around the world.
“Prayer lays hold of God’s plan and becomes the link between his will and its accomplishment on earth.” - Elisabeth Elliot
Note on Restricted Communication: For our workers and partners that serve in sensitive areas, we use initials or aliases instead of their real names. They each face unique challenges based on various security and safety concerns, so our communication policies are tailored to their particular needs and requests. Also note that some of our key national partners are not included in this directory at all due to heightened concerns. Please pray for those who face challenges like these as they lay down their lives in love and obedience to serve God.
