Over the years, the Metrobank Foundation unfailingly honored the sacrifices and achievements of dedicated public servants. Recognizing the multiplicity of caliber service and professionalism of Filipinos in their rendition of duties, it instituted the recognition of personalities whose performances in their respective professional careers and deeds go beyond the calls of duty. Putting premium on impacts of transformative endeavors, the Foundation thus promotes stories of selflessness, integrity and courage which are testaments of how humble lives can be catalysts for positive change in our society. As we recognize this year’s awardees, the AFP extends its equal acknowledgement and promotion of service excellence to further magnify the ripples of influence and inspiration.

I lead the PNP in rendering our salute to these remarkable individuals who embody the ideals of true public servants and law enforcers. Through their hard work, sacrifice and deep love of country, they have brought honor and distinction to their respective organizations and, above all, to public service.

n behalf of the men and women of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, let me extend my warmest congratulations to the deserving awardees of the 2019 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos.

Program Implementing Partners

Exemplifying desirable character, preserving harmony and upholding unity, this year’s awardees for educators, protectors, peacekeepers and nation-builders have increased roles in molding younger generations of Filipinos with heavier expectations anchored on professionalism to offer the brand of public service that our nation deserves. May this award on our teachers, soldiers and police officers prompt the scores of professionals to sustain our united pursuit for hope, inspiration, and influence to impact our colleagues, communities and eventually, our country.

oldiering is one of the three important professions critical in nation building that the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. has chosen, in their search for the Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos, the others being the teachers and the police officers. The Rotary Club of Makati Metro, together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, is the partner organization of the Metrobank Foundation Inc. in the search for The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers, the soldier component of Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos. Vocational service is one of the avenues of service, and the Rotary Club of Makati Metro expresses its support to our soldiers thru this civilian award. This year’s Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos (OF) Award has again brought about a bumper crop of nominees, all with exemplary contribution to the profession and to the society. With the higher standards set by the OF Award, and higher reward and recognition, the selection has become even tougher for the Board of Assessors who have assiduously gone thru the documents of the nominees, and the Final Board of Judges who spent hours extracting from the nominees the exemplary contribution beyond what is captured on record. To the distinguished members of both the Board of Assessors and Final Board of Judges, we express our deepest thanks. I would like to congratulate this year’s winners, all of whom deserve to be emulated by all sectors of our society as role models. Congratulations and tons of thanks to the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. for another year of successful search, and in elevating further the search for the Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos, truly beyond excellence.

n behalf of Rotary Club of Makati Metro, I thank our partner organizations the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for their overwhelming support to recognize the men and women in the profession of arms. We likewise acknowledge the members of the Board of Judges and Assessors for sharing their valuable time in this year’s deliberation of the most deserving winners. The selection of the three members of the Armed Forces as Outstanding Filipinos for 2019 is testament to the significant contribution of the uniformed men and women in our national life. This is the least that Rotary Club of Makati Metro can do to appreciate their sacrifices and professionalism. On its 25th year, the recognition of outstanding soldiers was started in 1994 by the Rotary Club of Makati Metro, in partnership with the Armed Forces, as one of the club’s Peace Projects. Special mention goes to the late General Angelo T. Reyes, who as Colonel and then commander of the Civil Relations Service of AFP, pushed the concept of civilian sector recognition for outstanding members of the military. The project has since undergone huge and positive changes through Metrobank Foundation’s participation beginning 1998. The many yearly iterations of best practices introduced by Metrobank Foundation into the selection process has allowed the project to identify only the most outstanding among the candidates. The program has since blossomed into a nationally recognized award and has also earned the attention of several international awarding bodies including Rotary International.

t gives me great pleasure to congratulate our 2019 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos — teachers, soldiers, and police officers. These three professions are essential in nation building. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Ty Family and the hardworking team of Metrobank Foundation, Inc., headed by its tireless president, Aniceto Sobrepeña, for sacrificing their time and treasure to ensure the success of this nationwide search. The success of this prestigious search can be credited to those who have the courage to heed the call of duty, face adversity head on, and inspire others to do good. Year in and year out, the Metrobank Foundation, together with the Rotary Club of New Manila East — partner for the Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos Award for Police Officers, have produced quality awardees who are worth emulating. Their stories of success in their own community will forever be felt by their beneficiaries. As Rotarians, we are proud to be part of this search, and we look up to our winners as our inspiration to serve the less fortunate in our respective community and help our nation move forward.

Again to all the soldiers, police officers and teachers, especially those in the remote areas, Rotary Club of Makati Metro expresses its deepest gratitude for your selfless service. Mabuhay!

Mateo M. Mayuga Chairman 2019 The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers Rotary Club of Makati Metro

The Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos-Award for Police Officers honor the best of the best among the gallant men and women of our country’s police force. These are the police officers whose career achievements are worthy of emulation and have given the Philippine National Police leadership a lot to be proud of. The police officer-awardees have proven that indeed, the community is a valuable partner in a police officer’s accomplishment of his sworn duty to serve and protect. The community is an indispensable tool and partner as the police officer goes about doing his task of not only preventing crimes but of solving them as well. Again, congratulations to the awardees and may your tribe increase. Maraming salamat at mabuhay kayong lahat!

Again, thank you and congratulations to our awardees, the Metrobank Foundation, PS Bank and to all our program partners.
