of KIMS Hospital, the largest independent hospital in Kent, KMC has outline accommodation opportunities including specialist residential and rehabilitation care, and Higher Education training facilities for healthcare professionals, with the ability to fast track through planning and construction and reduce business delays. Once fully developed, the site will create circa 3,500 jobs.

New developments

Cygnet Hospital is a new, 65-bed, £18 million facility located on a two acre plot on the Kent Medical Campus which provides services for patients suffering from a variety of mental health problems. The hospital’s services have been agreed in consultation with local and regional NHS bodies to meet the urgent demand for specialist mental health services within Kent and to ensure that local people can be treated close to home and as near as possible to their family and friends. The new state-of-the-art step down hospital will be home to facilities for therapeutic and recreational activities, training, and administration. The facility will deliver a vital new service to the people of Kent, as well as creating hundreds of new jobs and considerable investment to Maidstone. Cygnet Hospital further underlines Kent’s international reputation as a leader in the growing health, life sciences and education sectors.

Plans are also in place to develop an innovation centre for start-up businesses in the healthcare, medtech and lifescience sectors on the site, with a facility offering combined with extensive onsite business support.

To accommodate the developments at Kent Medical Campus, £11 million value improvements are being made to the off-site highway infrastructure.
