2021 - A RECORD- BREAKING YEAR

History

Bugatti owes its distinctive character to a family of artists and engineers, and has always strived to offer the extraordinary, the unrivaled, and the best.

Ettore Bugatti (1881-1947) was the legendary founder of Bugatti and designer of the most successful race cars and luxurious vehicles. He was a pioneer of automotive engineering as well as the grand tradition of motor sports.

Fascinated by technology and mechanics behind cars from childhood, he exhibited his first car in Milan in 1901. After becoming Head of Technology and Head of Production for various companies as well and designing his first racing car, the Type 5, in 1909 Ettore founded the Molsheim Factory in Alsace.

His son Jean was also born in 1909 – Jean became the head of the company and designed many classic models, as well as heading up the racing team.

Bugatti continued to make racing cars that would position in various races including the French Grand Prix. And in World War I, car production halted so that they could manufacture airplanes for France and the US.

In 1925, the Type 35 came out and this was considered Bugatti’s

Golden Age. And in 1941, the Royale was produced. The most expensive car ever made, there were only seven produced.

In 1932, Bugatti manufactured the Type 53 which was a four-wheel drive. In addition, Jean became head of the factory. Tragedy followed in 1939 when Jean died in a test drive accident and then Ettore himself passed away in 1947. Production stopped in 1956 and in 1962, the Schlumpf Brothers bought all remaining Bugattis to start a collection.

After several owners in the late part of the twentieth century, in 2005 the new Bugatti HQ, known as L’Atelier, was completed in Molsheim, where Ettore founded the original factory in 1909.

“THE TEN LIMITED-EDITION VEHICLES ARE DISTINGUISHED BY THEIR PERFECT ELEGANCE AND SCULPTURAL BEAUTY, MAKING THE CENTODIECI A TRUE, TANGIBLE WORK OF ART.”

The Centodieci continues Bugatti’s successful 110-year course of exceptional design and performance, while revisiting some of the brand’s recent history. Italian for 110, the Centodieci is a reinvention of the 1991 model, the EB110 which at the time, was the fastest supercar in the world. The EB110, built by Romano Artioli in Italy, was an important step in the regeneration of the Bugatti brand in 1998 and for its return to Molsheim in France.

The ten limited-edition vehicles are distinguished by their perfect elegance and sculptural beauty, making the Centodieci a true, tangible work of art.
