Aberdeen International Airport Terminal

Aberdeen International Airport (AIA) is of major strategic importance to the city. For over eight decades, AIA has played a pivotal role in the social and economic development of the North East of Scotland. In 2012, Aberdeen Airport published its draft masterplan outlining its 30-year vision for the future. It set out plans for significant investment in the physical capacity of the airport, including further enhancements to the terminal building, additional aircraft parking stands and taxiways, and space to further expand the runway so that it can extend the airport’s international reach. Initial developments undertaken included the 124m extension to the main runway, a new covered international walkway, a £5million parking deck and a resurfacing project.

The next major project currently underway, is the multi-million pound terminal transformation project which will see a new purpose-built security search area, a major expansion of the departure lounge, new passenger lounges, new international arrivals facilities and new retail and catering facilities within the main departures lounge.

Plans to create Scotland’s first Airport City, with Aberdeen Airport at its heart, are taking shape with a number of major commercial developments close to completion at ABZ and D2 adjacent to the airport that will transform the local economy and deliver enhanced facilities for local residents, businesses and visitors.
