In Term 1 the Mazenod House Athletics Carnival was held at the Knox Athletics Track. There was plenty of anticipation leading up to the day in regards to whether Gerard would break the record of six Athletics Championships in a row, who would take out the title of the Fastest Nodder in the Mazenod Gift and which records would be broken on the day.

The day was filled with plenty of colour, House spirit and enthusiasm amongst the participants. There were many outstanding performances of the day and all students should be congratulated on their attitude and participation on the day.

Competition was fierce and it was tight between all Houses for the majority of the day. In the end it was close, but Anthony claimed its first ever House Athletics Championship, putting to an end Gerard’s recent dominance and dreams of a seventh consecutive title. MacKillop also finished second for the second year in a row. Overall results were as follows: 1st – Anthony 2485 points 2nd - MacKillop 2433 3rd – Grandin 2284.5 4th – Albini 2222.5 5th – Gerard 2195.5 6th - Charlebois 2055 7th - Chisholm 1718 8th - Cebula 1632 There were many outstanding individual performances on the day and congratulations to the following Year level Champions: · Year 7 Joedan Davis · Year 8 Chris Boey · Year 9 Glen Nguyen · Year 10 Aidan Catania · Year 11 Nathanial Louey · Year 12 Joshua Boyle

Congratulations to Joedan Davis who also broke the Year 7 High Jump record clearing a height of 1.56 metres.

The third instalment of the Mazenod Gift, which included each of the Year Level winners of the 100 metre event, was the closest race in history with Year 9 student Lucas Valenzuela taking home the honours. The Mazenod Sports department would like to thank both students and staff for their efforts on the day, which led to the running of a successful Carnival.
