Developing Ideas

The Concept of Perspectives

At the beginning of our discussion, we began with three main ideas that could represent our generation. After further elaboration and brainstorming, we settled on perspectives as our curating theme.

“To transcend multiple dimensions to explore new horizons, and learn new things to experience new emotions.”

CTRL+

Online Exhibition of Integrated Creative Life Design CTRL+ was the exhibition for the third year of my bachelor's degree programme. Originally, this work was supposed to take place on campus. Due to Covid-19, the university demanded that the majority of courses alter to online formats. We decided to transform the physical exhibition into a virtual one because of the risk of infection and decreasing number of activities on our campus. After evaluating current online display platforms, we determined that Gather Town was the best fit for us. We ultimately opted to host the exhibition online using Gather Town and Teams.

• DURATION: May - June 2022 • CURATORS: MU-EN LIN, SHAN-MEI CHENG, WEI-YUN LIAO, JEI ZHOU, WEI-HSUAN TASI • MY POSITION: Vice Coordinator & Online Exhibition Designer

Gather Town

Before Presentation Day, students needed to complete their online display and bring models to DA204. To decrease the danger of infection, each group visited the place at separate times. Students must attend the meeting through Gather Town on Presentation Day. Professors could see the online exhibition and digital work of each group from a projector, and were also able to examine physical pieces and provide immediate feedback via microphones.

The Concept of CTRL+ As designers, we are constantly exploring, absorbing, and viewing the beauty of the world. We transform everything through design, creating new combinations, and replenishing creativity. Just like the CTRL key on the keyboard combined with different keys can produce different results. Therefore, different combinations in design can create unique flashes. Designers have the same adaptability as the letters 'CTRL' and '+'. To bring design and people closer together, we construct design using appealing and simple metaphors.

Display areas Sixteen groups were organized into three major themes: acculturation, rebirth, and sustainability. The three exhibition areas had a distinct visual design. One of the primary advantages of using Gather Town is the immersive experience of RPG games. We created NPC chat stories and questions based on themes and exhibits.

To make the exhibition area more consistent, I applied key visual design and icons into the lobby and main hall designs. Furthermore, because CTRL+ is based on the concept of keyboards, I made the lobby resemble a control center, with separate access to different sections.
