01- A WARM WELCOME TO THE ISLAND OF CONTRASTS

Outside the weather is raging, the sky swirling in dark grey and blue The contrast is great with the green mountains towering above, their peaks dusted with a layer of fresh snow. At the edge of the sea, the fishermen’s cabins cling to their villages - just as they have done for centuries, with their boats safely moored before the storm. Perhaps it is not so surprising that when faced with bad weather, the Lofoten folk are known to ‘stand him off’ Here, you do not walk with your head bent against the northerly wind. If you look up, you feel the elements whipping at your face.

The sea can also be eerily calm. When the sun shines around the clock, the distinction between night and day is blurred. In those moments, everyday life almost ceases to exist In the face of awe-inspiring nature, you come face to face with yourself It can be overwhelming

During such times it’s good to find a sheltered harbour. At May's you will find warmth and laughter, as well as a reprieve from the enormous surroundings that loom outside. A moment of peace to rest and digest, to let the impressions of the day take root and live on in memory long after you leave the islands. At May's, you have a home in Lofoten, no matter where you come from.

May's is your temporary home in Reine. A home with a more modern look than what Lofoten traditionally offers

Our wish for your stay is that May's, with its warm atmosphere gives you peace and the opportunity to digest the impressions of our powerful surroundings.

With us, you experience balanced material choices and design furniture in beautiful combination with local arts and crafts, in addition to a small selection of products from local manufacturers

Little is left to the coincidences at May's

We hope you will treat May's as your home, with care and caution

T

As in a home, you arrange most things yourself at May's. However, know that we are available to answer your questions about sights, activities and restaurants, as well as practical questions about your stay with us.

If you need help, we are usually close by

You reach us through Booking.com's messaging service every day between 09 00 and 21 00

Should something extraordinary occur, we are also available by phone

Enjoy your stay!

- DEAR GUESTS

Lofoten has many stories about its inhabitants. Stories about families who have lived on the islands out here in the open ocean for generations. The sea has provided livelihood, food and wealth, and forms part of the common history that we want to share with our guests

One of these stories belongs to the Sæthre family in Reine Fishing and tourism have together formed the basis for May and Jørn, with their children Marlene and Christer, to be able to do as generations before - to live and work in Lofoten Jørn has always had the sea and the boat as his place of work. At home in Reine, May has created the family business, Circle K Reine Together with the children, they have created the accommodation May's.

LOFOTODDEN NATIONALPARK

Lofotodden National Park is characterized by a unique landscape with high and narrow mountain ranges surrounded by open sea areas, a rare natural phenomenon in a global context

You can visit the different parts of the National Park

Despite nutrient-poor soil and a harsh climate, Lofotodden harbors a diverse and exciting natural environment Lime-rich rockfall deposits, dune fields and cultural landscapes provide pockets of rich diversity among the mountain vegetation and moorland which otherwise dominate the national park.

You are nature’s guest when you visit the national park The Right to Roam allows us to travel freely Nevertheless, you are obligated to show consideration so that animals and plants are not harmed or disturbed. Leave nature the way you want to find it.
