Revitalizing The Community Urban Connector Reestablishing Citizen Engagement Police Station Ritualistic Learning Pavilion Selected projects from 2015- 2022 01 02 03

This thesis explores a journey towards the sacred and its correlation with the experience of performing rituals. This journey can be broken down into parts and subparts as an architectural strategy and in a theoretical sense as well. It involves three phases; separation from profane, transitioning, and being integrated into the Thissacred.project aims to design a journey that allows students to shed the daily vigor of the academically-challenging university environment. The site chosen offers the opportunity to create a learning pavilion: a secular sacred space for students by extracting a design language from the trees on-site.

Comprising of a population of around 92,000 people, the Basti consists of a diverse community. Piercing through it is the inaccessible strip of land which also acts as a divider between the two residential zones. On this strip runs the Manzoor Colony Nala. According to the survey conducted, this linear strip of land holds the potential opportunity to act as a meeting flux for the community. Although the geographical placement of the area depicts it as a connector, the current conditions of the open space indicate it as a health hazard. Indicative of the dense residential fabric, most of the community lacks an open space for any recreation or social purpose. As a result, all social events, ceremonies, or gatherings are conducted in the streets. In the proposed BOA, along the Nala, there is a linear arrangement of informal settlements that takes advantage of the inaccessible open space. This housing is sub-standard in comparison to the other residential areas within Azam Basti and must be redeveloped. This study aims to document a holistic account of the existing conditions on the ground and to understand and analyze the complex issues, leading to a comprehensive proposal to resolve the problems of Azam Basti. for revitalizing the community through inclusive and interconnected open spaces

03 Reestablishing Citizen Engagement Police Station Re-establishing The Relationship Between The State And Its Citizens In An Urban Fabric Through The Lens Of Citizen Engagement

In contrast to the traditional image of the police station as a hermetic institutional building, this project explores the idea of citizen engagement by creating opportunities for the police officers and citizens to interact, share information and responsibilities for community policing.
