2016 Outstanding Historic Theatre

LHAT’s Awards Program inspires excellence by recognizing theatres and individuals for their significant accomplishments or distinguished service.

The Outstanding Historic Theatre Award recognizes a theatre that demonstrates excellence through its community impact, quality of programs and services, and quality of the restoration or rehabilitation of its historic structure. An award-winning theatre will have demonstrated excellence through significant achievement, the impact of its services and breadth of populations served, and the length of time and/or intensity of its activities.

Each year, one theatre and one individual are honored by LHAT at its annual conference. Former winners include the Fabulous Fox in Atlanta, New York City Center and Playhouse Square in Cleveland.

JAMES M. PORFIDO ATTORNEY AT LAW, LLC Dedication and Diligence James M. Porfido is a Certified Criminal Attorney who has devoted the last two decades of his career to criminal defense and representing those faced with serious criminal charges including, but not limited to, homicides, sexual assaults, drugrelated charges, domestic violence, burglary, juvenile crimes and driving offenses, such as driving while intoxicated.

A welcome from our President It is our delight to be able to bring the world’s greatest entertainers so close to home! This year is no exception. The 2016-2017 season is a mix of returning favorites and exciting new events. By the time this season concludes, over 200 events will have been held on our stage, from world renowned performers such as Tony Bennett and Kristin Chenoweth, to touring Broadway shows like Once and Annie, to New Jerseybased organizations including New Jersey Ballet and New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, to the hundreds of children who participate in our afterschool performing arts program.

I was thrilled to travel to Chicago recently to receive the League of Historic American Theatre’s 2016 Outstanding Historic Theatre award. It was an honor for me to accept this national award on behalf of our entire community. For nearly 80 years, MPAC has been instrumental in stimulating Morristown’s economy, building our downtown and nurturing creativity through the arts and entertainment. As a non-profit performing arts venue, we simply would not be here today without the extraordinary commitment from our community members. We sincerely appreciate your patronage.

Looking ahead, we are pleased to present even more community-based initiatives this year, which started over the summer with our free summer movie series and lunchtime concert series Music Beyond Borders, and continues with our pre-show local emerging artist performances on the plaza.

Our education and outreach efforts remain central to our mission. This past year, over 40,000 children were touched by MPAC events, many exposed to the arts for the first time; including students who participated in our “PAS on the Road” program in distressed school districts such as Paterson. We continue to partner with local school districts, daycare centers, hospitals and social service organizations to ensure the arts are accessible to all children and adults in our neighborhoods.

This year we begin an exciting journey with The Miracle Project, an expressive arts program for individuals with autism and other disabilities. This is one of the most anticipated initiatives we will launch this season as we continue to strive to make performing arts experiences welcoming to all individuals including those with special needs. Our Education Department will be working with The Miracle Project to undergo training to better serve these children and engage them in theatre arts.

We continue to make strides to improve parking options and customer service. Everyone at MPAC is dedicated to serving our community and creating a welcoming atmosphere at which you, your family and friends can come enjoy world class entertainment. We look forward to seeing you here often this season!

A welcome from our Board Chairman On behalf of the Board of Trustees at MPAC, I welcome you to the theatre! We hope that you will enjoy the many wonderful performances that will take our stage this season. We are thrilled to bring the finest performers in the world to Morristown.

I always enjoy show nights because you can see just how much of a buzz an event at MPAC creates. The sidewalks are full of people and the restaurants are teeming with guests – it brings an energy to town that only the anticipation of seeing a live act can deliver.

Over the years, we have continuously worked to improve our building – preserving its historical integrity while adding the amenities that today’s audiences require. We thank you for your continued support over the years to help make these improvements possible.

As a non-profit organization, ticket sales do not cover the complete costs of all of our programs. MPAC presents a number of education and outreach initiatives in the community, and our fundraising efforts help to cover the costs of these programs.

We are committed to making the arts available to people of all means, whether it is a concert in our building, an afternoon theatre class in a disadvantaged community or a free concert at the Morristown Green. If you are not a member, we hope you will consider supporting our mission and assisting us to make arts experiences available to all.

MPAC’s economic impact on the region is over $15 million, based on the Americans for the Arts Economic Prosperity calculator. With over 200 events on our stage annually, and numerous free programs and education programs that touch the lives of thousands of children, the return to the community is much more than what can just be calculated in dollars.

On Tuesday, February 28, 2017, MPAC held a reception for all students who participated in the contest. Over one hundred people, including the artists, their friends and familyies attended this special reception where the winners of the 2016-2017 MPAC Program Cover Art Contest were announced. Hannah Coward, Junior at Randolph High School, Hubert Deiparlne, Senior at Boonton High School, Miyu Liu, Junior at Randolph High School, and Jaylene Combs, Freshman at Boonton High School are the four winners who will have their pieces printed on the cover of MPAC’s program books to be seen by tens of thousands of the Theatre’s patrons.

Over 70 students from throughout Morris County participated in this year's cover art contest. All of the works were exhibited in the Art Upstairs Gallery over a two-week period in March.

Mayo Performing Arts Center Parking Options • The Verizon Lot on Maple Street is available for many shows exclusively for MPAC patrons.

• $10 parking is available for many shows at the Presbyterian Church (across the street from MPAC. ) • We are now offering the opportunity to reserve your parking in advance for many events. Look for an email on whether reserved parking is available for your show for the above lots.

Free Parking Option • FREE parking is available at Morristown Town Hall, approximately 1/3 mile from MPAC starting at 5:00 pm.

The Five Irish Tenors present a sensational program of the most famously beloved Irish songs, fusing Irish wit and boisterous charm with lyricism, dramatic flair and operatic style, in combinations of tenor solos, duets, trios, quartets, quintets and tutti.

This distinctive program includes: “Toora – Loora – Looral”; “My Wild Irish Rose”; “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling”; “As She Moved Through the Fair”; and the glorious “Danny Boy”.

This concert project is the first tour ever in North America of Ireland’s of this popular ensemble, and has been specifically recreated from the major cities in Ireland for the United States and Canada.

The Five Irish Tenors BIOGRAPHIES DAVID MARTIN Lyric Tenor David Martin is described as possessing “a beautiful Italian Bel Canto quality in his voice, with a fantastic vocal range, and performs with incredible stamina, agility, and flexibility.”

He studied and performed at the Dundalk Dramatic Society, the Leinster College of Music & Drama in Dublin and at Il Corso Di Canto E Perfezionamento Lirico with Tenor Ugo Benelli in Montalto, Italy.

David has performed the lead tenor roles in productions of The Lilly of Killarney, The Gypsy Baron, and Pink Champagne. Other performances include tenor roles in operas, such as La Fille du Regiment, La Boheme, Cavalleria Rusticana, I Pagliacci, Lucia Di Lammermoor, La Traviata, Tosca, and more.

He has performed in the U.K., in Europe, and in major theatres in Ireland, including the Cork Opera House and the National Concert Hall, performing in such shows as The Mario Lanza Story and The John McCormack Story.

David was a member of the Three Tenors Ireland for seven years performing in many venues in Ireland and the U.K. until 2013.

MORGAN CROWLEY Morgan Crowley has performed in opera, concert, theatre, musicals, TV, film, radio and recordings across five continents. Recipient of awards and distinctions including John McCormack and Luciano Pavarotti Awards, London Critics Choice Award, International Voice of Musical Theatre nomination, he has appeared on a Grammy-winning CD, two-Tony nominated shows, Oscar-winning screenplay, multiplatinum videos and five solo albums.

Following his debut at Covent Garden’s Royal Opera House aged only 20, he played roles in operas including Die Zauberflote, Orpheus, Street Scene, Dido & Aeneas, Tosca, La Belle Helene, Amahl & The Night Visitors, Albert Herring, Candide in addition to creating roles in Simon Callow’s acclaimed world premiere Oliver Trilogy at Covent Garden, Julie Feeney’s mini-opera Bird and Roger Doyle’s eagerly anticipated 2016 Death by Fire of Giordano Bruno. He is currently Associate Director of Opera in the Open and Guest Lecturer at DIT and RADA. His concert repertoire spans hundreds of composers, medieval to modern – notable engagements including Mozart Requiem, Faure Requiem, BBC’s Friday Night is Music Night, Vivaldi Gloria, Handel Messiah, Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Bernstein Chichester Psalms, Luigi Nono’s Prometeo, The Academy Awards, The Grammy Awards and National Entertainment Awards.

West End/Broadway/international theatre credits include Chicago, Ragtime, Riverdance, Sweeney Todd, Spring Awakening, Hairspray, Spelling Bee, Carousel, West Side Story, Cirque du Soleil, Scrooge and the title role in Phantom of the Opera.

Television and film credits include Eastenders, The Tudors, Far & Away, Bound, Letterman, Yule Be Wiggling, Quest For Camelot, Lovejoy.

CIARÁN KELLY Ciarán Kelly is a graduate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), Dublin. He made his opera debut at the RIAM in January 2007, singing ‘Don Curzio’ in a production of Le Nozze Di Figaro, and subsequently sang with the Downpatrick Opera Fringe Festival, Opera Theatre Company, and Lyric Opera.

Touring activities have included the “Celtic Woman” 2012 U.S. tour and various international tours with “Anúna.” In 2014 Ciarán founded the A Capella Irish group “Ardú,” who specialize in traditional Irish and popular song. Ciarán is a member of the renowned chamber choir ‘Resurgam’.

In 2010, Ciarán sang as a soloist in the historic performance of Handel’s Messiah, a joint performance between St. Patrick’s and Christ Church Cathedrals in Dublin. In 2012 he performed the lead role in Nicolini’s Le Due Gemelle in Piacenza, Italy with singers from Italy, Japan, Korea and Armenia. Ciarán performed the lead role in a specially commissioned short opera in Derry for the arrival of the Olympic Torch, Number Seven, composed by Seán Doherty.

Most recently, Ciarán undertook the narrator role in Monteverdi’s Il Combattimenti Di Tancredi e Clorinda and in 2013 completed a National Tour with Opera Theatre Company’s production of Carmen performing the role of Remendado. Future roles include Endymione in a joint performance of Rossi’s Orfeo with ‘Resurgam’ and ‘Atalante’ directed by award winning early music specialist Erin Headley.

ALAN LEECH A Graduate of University College Cork, Alan was appointed as tenor to the Irish National Chamber Choir in 2002. With them Alan has toured extensively both nationally and internationally and worked with some of the world’s leading choral conductors such as Paul Hillier, Celso Antunes, Stephen Layton and Stephen Cleobury.

Career highlights to date in this role include performing for U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House, David Lang’s ‘Little Match Girl Passion’, and Gerald Barry’s ‘Long Time’ and ‘Schott & Sons, Mainz’.

International touring has included Russia, Brazil, and China, the Lebanon, as well as several European tours.

As well as chamber music choirs, Alan has also performed with most of Ireland’s leading orchestras and choruses in oratorio and concert performances. Monteverdi’s Vespers, Mozart’s Mass in C, Haydn’s Nelson Mass & Heiligemess, Barber’s Songs of Kierkegaard, and Tippet’s A Child of our Time. He has also performed with Opera Cork, Opera South, Anna Livia Opera, and Opera Ireland, including many roles such as Acis in

The Five Irish Tenors Handel’s Acis & Galatea, Tamino in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Goro in Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, and El Remondado in Bizet’s Carmen.

He has worked as a vocal consultant for the Association of Irish Choirs on their annual Conductors Summer School. Since 2007 the AOIC have invited him to work as tenor coach with the Irish Youth Choir, and recently as a vocal coach with the exciting new Irish Youth Chamber Choir. In 2012 Alan was invited to join the teaching staff of the Ulster Youth Choir.

Combining singing, pedagogy and conducting skills has led to many invitations to work with a varying range of choirs and ensembles nationwide: the Mornington Singers (Dublin), Culwick Choral Society, Limerick Choral Union (Limerick), Anima Chamber Choir (Dublin), Tribal Chamber Choir (Galway), Cois Cladaigh (Galway), Aspiro (Carlow), Cork Chamber Choir, Pfizerphonics (Cork) and Tredagh Singers (in his native Drogheda).

GEORGE HUTTON Irish Tenor George Hutton, well known for his performances of rousing Irish traditional melodies, has toured Canada, Belgium and Holland with the renowned Choral ensemble Anúna, and is scheduled to tour with them on an upcoming tour of Japan.

In addition to the “Irish” vocal repertoire, George has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, London as part of the BBC Proms with the BBC Youth Chorus, and in Mozart’s Mass at the National Concert Hall, Dublin.

His variety of performances exemplifies an emerging style connecting classical and Irish traditional vocal music.

It is through Irish traditional vocal music that George shines, having absorbed the melodies of Luke Kelly, The Dubliner’s, and The Irish Tenors from which he finds inspiration. The raw emotion and passion he has for Irish traditional music can be found in pieces such as ‘Raglan Road’ and ‘The Auld Triangle.’

FEARGULL MURRAY (Pianist/Composer/Arranger) Born in Derry, Ireland, Feargal studied music at Edinburgh University followed by a Masters at Goldsmiths College London. His versatile piano skills range from classical through Irish to pop. He has played/recorded with many Irish artists such as Phil Coulter, Finbar Wright, Anthony Kearns, The Celtic Tenors, Celtic Woman, Camille O’Sullivan, Julie Feeney, Moya Brennan, Cathy Jordan, Liam O Flynn, Rebecca Storm, Peter Corry, Brian Kennedy, Eimear Quinn, Tommy Fleming and Donal Lunny. He has toured the world and played at Red Rocks, Radio City, Carnegie Hall, Greek Theatre, Royal Festival Hall, The Roundhouse, and The Royal Albert Hall. He was choir director for Celtic Woman’s ‘A Christmas Celebration: Live From Dublin’ and producer for several Camille O’Sullivan albums. Additionally he has co-written songs with Brendan Graham and Jimmy Mac Carthy (top 10 US Billboard Charts for The Celtic Tenors ‘Still By Your Side’), and has arranged for the Irish Film Orchestra.

He has composed and performed an award winning musical adaptation for the Royal Shakespeare Company - The Rape Of Lucrece with Camille O’Sullivan.

He has also composed and performed for London’s Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre alongside actor Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones/The Wire) - a reading of James Joyce’s The Dead, directed by Conor Mc Pherson.

He is currently co-writing with the iconic Australian songwriter Paul Kelly and Camille O’Sullivan creating a new show celebrating the Irish 1916 Centenary, supported by Culture Ireland.

DANNY FORDE (Pianist) Danny Forde is a composer, songwriter, music director and multi-instrumentalist from Dublin, Ireland. He studied piano and composition at Berklee College of Music on a Fulbright scholarship and holds a masters’ degree from Trinity College Dublin. He trained in piano at DIT Conservatory of Music, Dublin.

Danny is a passionate performer, and regularly performs his songs with his Irish-Scandinavian Trio, Karmacloud, and as a solo artist. Karmacloud have toured in Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland and the UK. He has also performed extensively across Ireland and abroad with various music groups including I Have A Tribe, Slow Skies, Ebo, Jazzberries, Loah, Discovery Gospel Choir, Kila, Judith Mok, and Giraffes.

His music has been aired and performed live on Irish TV and Radio.

Danny composes songs and music for the visual media, and is regularly commissioned for theatre and contemporary dance. Danny’s professional theatre work includes composition for Unspoken (Project Arts, Centre, Dublin), MONSTER/CLOCK (Smock Alley Theatre) and The Aeneid (Project Arts Centre) by Collapsing Horse Theatre, Near Death: A Grim Reaper Musical (Greene Theatre, Boston – winner Berklee College Musical Songwriting competition); Music direction for The Last 5 Years (Project Arts Centre)

by Trees Rd, Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins (Project Arts Centre) by Rough Magic SEEDS, How To Keep An Alien (Project Arts Centre – Best production Dublin Fringe Festival 2014) and The Rise And Fall Of The City Of Mahagonny (Olympia Theatre) by Rough Magic, Danny was a recent participant in the highly regarded Rough Magic SEEDS theatre development program.

In 2013 he worked with film composer Lucas Vidal in Los Angeles, assisting on scores for a number of major motion pictures. He now writes freelance for Vidal’s Chroma Music commercial and trailer music house.

He was assistant music supervisor on Irish feature Stitches (2012), which played in cinemas in the UK & Ireland. He also worked as a freelance composer for Dublin-based Tailored Films Ltd. While studying for his Masters’ degree at TCD, Danny completed research and an accompanying composition for microtonal piano, string quartet and voices (performed in the Beckett Theatre, 2011) exploring the area of just intonation.

One Woman Sex and the City This loving tribute and send-up takes audiences through a laughter-infused version of all six seasons of the beloved show. TJ Dawe – (Director and co-creator of One Man Star Wars Trilogy, One Man Lord of the Rings and PostSecret: The Show) has comedic whirling dervish Kerry Ipema (PostSecret: The Show) bringing all our favorite characters to life as they brunch, banter, argue, support each other and swoon over men and Manolos. Whether playing the great standards of the piano trio repertoire or daring contemporary works, the three young women who make up this celebrated ensemble electrify the concert stage with their passionate performances. The unique history of the players of the Eroica Trio goes all of the way back to their childhoods. Their first connection was made when cellist Sara Sant’Ambrogio and pianist Erika Nickrenz were just 12 years old. Sara’s father, John Sant’Ambrogio, then principal cellist of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, was being recorded

by Erika’s mother, Grammy Award winning record producer Joanna Nickrenz. This working relationship led to Erika joining Sara at her family’s music camp in the Berkshire Mountains, Red Fox, where Erika

A few years later, Sara Parkins and Erika Nickrenz reunited at the Tanglewood Music Festival. That same year the Eroica Trio was formed at the Juilliard School. This intricate web of early connections helped forge a lifelong bond between the three women of the Eroica Trio. Their deeply personal, passionate music-making and uncanny ensemble and chemistry onstage have thrilled audiences worldwide.

The trio’s musical connection continued when, a few years later, Sara decided to strike out on her own and attend renowned music camp Meadowmount. There she met, played and became fast friends with violinist Sara Parkins. After playing together that summer, Sant’Ambrogio was invited to finish High School at The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and Parkins was accepted to attend Juilliard Pre-College where she met and started playing with Erika. Later, Parkins decided to join Sant’Ambrogio at Curtis where they happily renewed their personal and musical friendship. After a year as roommates and musical collaborators, Sant’Ambrogio was invited to attend Juilliard where she resumed playing with Erika.

The Eroica Trio renowned symphonies such as Chicago, St. Louis, San Francisco, Mostly Mozart Orchestra, Nashville, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Houston, New Jersey and Seattle. In addition, The Trio has performed the work abroad with Orquesta Sinfonica de Euskadi in Spain, Haydn Orchestra in Italy, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Budapest Symphony in Germany, and on multiple tours in the United States with the Cincinnati Symphony as well as with the Prague Chamber Orchestra, culminating in a Lincoln Center performance. The Eroica Trio’s recording of the Beethoven Triple with the Prague Chamber Orchestra was so successful it landed this piece on Billboard’s Top 20 for the first time in recording history. The Trio appeared on the German television program “Klassich!” performing the Beethoven Triple Concerto with the Munich Symphony, which was aired throughout Europe. This season, they toured North America with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Fabio Luisi, culminating in a performance on the “Great Performers at Lincoln Center” series in Avery Fisher Hall in New York City.

The Eroica Trio is on the vanguard of a new generation of artists who are changing the face of classical music. The first allfemale chamber ensemble to reach the top echelon of its field, the Eroica Trio broke an age-old gender barrier. As the Chicago Sun Times remarked, “Our image of the piano trio is largely formed by groups like the celebrated [original] Beaux Arts, three middle-aged gentlemen who apply their wisdom and artistry to their chosen repertory. That image is about to change.”

The Trio took its name from Beethoven’s passionate Third Symphony. Italian for “heroic,” eroica is a word that aptly reflects the ensemble’s approach to music. As critics have noted, “It’s been decades since this country has produced a chamber music organization with this much passion.” (The San Francisco Examiner) The Trio has established a unique identity by creating innovative programs that span 300 years of music. A typical Eroica Trio concert might include the Baroque symmetries of

Vivaldi, the passion of Brahms, and Mark O’Connor’s Bluegrass and rock-a-billy ode to Johnny Cash, “Poets and Prophets” which was written for them. The Eroica Trio is a strong champion of new composers; each season includes an American or world premiere of a new work. Recently, the Trio premiered a new Triple Concerto by the American wunderkind Jay Greenberg and the world premiere of a work by acclaimed American composer, Kevin Puts, commissioned by Music Accord. Whatever the repertoire, “the Eroica’s artistry is powerful enough that it could play the back of a cereal box and make it compelling.” (The Charleston Gazette) As the official representative for New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Eroica Trio opened the sold-out “Distinctive Debuts” series at Weill Recital Hall. This touring series, created to showcase rising stars of classical music, was internationally sponsored by a consortium of European halls and included performances at Konzerthaus in Vienna, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Philharmonie in Cologne, Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Symphony Hall at ICC in Birmingham, and Konserthus in Stockholm. The Eroica’s performances were received with rave reviews. “The Trio plays with technical flair, raw, driven energy and high spirits. The ensemble also has plenty of charm and stage presence. It was obvious that all three musicians were having as much fun as the [Carnegie Hall] audience.”

(The Wall Street Journal) Immediately following its acclaimed Carnegie Hall debut, the Eroica Trio was offered an exclusive five-record contract by EMI Classics Records, which was extended in 2002 to include three additional recordings.

The Trio’s self-titled debut CD, which features works by Ravel, Benjamin Godard, a commissioned arrangement of the Gershwin Preludes, and Paul Schoenfield’s Café Music, was awarded NPR Performance Today’s “Debut Recording of the Year” and featured in Time Out New York’s “Top Ten Recordings”.

The ensemble’s second disc, Dvorak/ Shostakovich/Rachmaninoff, concentrates on the works of those composers, as well as the Trio’s own arrangement of Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise, and was nominated for two Grammy® Awards.

The Eroica Trio The New York Times noted: “Eroica’s musicians have the muscle to be purely dramatic and emotional, but here they stand out for subtler reasons: all three players are soloists who have a lot to say, and every note, no matter how light, has some significance.” The Eroica Trio’s critically acclaimed third recording, Baroque spent the first nine months after its release in the top 20 on Billboard’s charts.

Baroque includes works by Bach, Vivaldi and the Eroica Trio’s own arrangement of Albinoni’s Adagio. The ensemble’s next album, Pasión features Argentinean, Brazilian and Spanish composers, including Piazzolla, Villa-Lobos and Turina. The Trio’s fifth album for EMI Classics Records, “Brahms Trios Nos. 1 & 2” was released to great critical acclaim “This is a hugely stirring recording, full of strength and soul. It’s very romantic very lush but well within bounds (that is, Brahmsian bounds). Over the past several weeks, I have found it hard to stop listening to this CD.” (The National Review). This disc features the composer’s lullaby arranged for piano trio by Sara Sant’Ambrogio. The Trio’s sixth recording for EMI, “Beethoven’s Triple Concerto Op. 56 and Piano Trio Op. 11” was recorded with the Prague Chamber Orchestra. The release came just prior to a four-week coast-to-coast tour of the United States with that celebrated ensemble. The Trio’s most recent album, An American Journey, was acclaimed by NPR “One of the Best CD’s of 2008”. It features new arrangements of music from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Bernstein’s West Side Story commissioned by the Eroica. Also on the CD is Mark O’Connor’s Poets and Prophets, written for Eroica and inspired by the music of Johnny Cash.

In addition to its demanding concert and recording schedule, the Eroica Trio is committed to music education, giving

concerts, master classes and special children’s shows at schools and colleges throughout the country. The trio feels so strongly about the benefits of music that they have performed at homeless shelters, senior centers and prisons to bring the music to people who might not normally have the chance to hear live performances. Each summer, the Trio performs at music festivals throughout the world, including the Hollywood Bowl, Aspen, Mostly Mozart, Ravinia, and Spoleto, Italy.

The Eroica Trio has appeared on numerous television programs, including ABC’s The View, CNN’s Showbiz Today, CBS and ABC News, the CBS Morning Show and Saturday Morning, A&E’s Breakfast with the Arts, The Isaac Mizrahi Show, Pure Oxygen, Bloomberg TV and Fox’s The Crier Report. In addition, the ladies will be featured in the international broadcast of The Artists’ Way At Work, an in-depth exploration of artistic creativity.

Eroica!, a special documentary about the Trio and its commissioning of a new triple concerto by Kevin Kaska, premiered on the PBS series Independent Lens and has had multiple airings worldwide.

The group has been featured in such magazines as Elle, Glamour, Vanity Fair, Detour, Marie Claire, Gotham, Entrée, Bon Appétit, Time Out New York, Gramophone, Piano, Vivace, Auditorium, and Chamber Music. In addition, the ladies have graced the covers of magazines as diverse as Fanfare, Cigar, Strings, Tall, and Strad. Grand Marnier® created a new cocktail dubbed “The Eroica” which was unveiled for the release of the Pasión recording. Chateau Sainte Michelle, a vineyard in Seattle, also named one of their vintage Rieslings in honor of the Trio.

The ANN WILSON OF HEART cross-country solo tour kicked off this month in Seattle.

Musicians on board for the ANN WILSON OF HEART tour include Craig Bartock on guitar (Heart member for a dozen years, who also performed in the Ann Wilson Thing for two years) from San Francisco; Andy Stoller on bass (the Ann Wilson Thing member for two years) from Seattle; Denny Fongheiser on drums and percussion (Heart member in the 1990’s for two years) from Los Angeles. The name for the upcoming tour, explains Ann, “is to give people a point of recognition; to help people understand who I am and where I came from.”

“The stage is a magical place where I can be beautifully in and out of control, where I can build a fire and then jump into it,” says the esteemed and pioneering Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legend who’s known for her force-of-nature vocals. “The stage is where I have always lived; where I’ve expressed my deepest emotions and supreme joys.” Ann continues: “I suppose I am addicted to it. I’ve never been much good at talking, but I can

Kim Russo: “The Happy Medium” Kim Russo, also known as “Kim The Happy Medium,” has been able to see the world of spirit since the young age of nine. Growing up, Kim often saw random spirits in her bedroom and sometimes felt their presence walking home with her from school. Not knowing what they wanted, they scared her then. Now she is comforted by their presence, speaking to them more than she speaks to the living on some days.

Kim is as comfortable with her mediumship as anyone with any special talent could be. She explains her ability to understand the voice of spirit as nothing more than being fluent in their language. As Kim often describes, “they do not move their lips when they speak to me; as they relay their messages to me mind to mind or by certain gestures they allow me to see.”

Sometimes referring to herself as a translator for the spirit world, Kim also calls herself the psychic journalist, as she prides herself on the accuracy in understanding their language and is most careful to “interview” the spirit coming through during a reading.

Kim is no stranger to reading parents who have lost children. She is the mother of three boys and has compassion as both a mother and a medium. It is Kim’s usual practice to give many identifying details, including names and descriptions of the energy with whom she is communicating. Whatever the loss, be it a child, a sibling or a parent, many of her clients have reported having life changing experiences after having a session with Kim. Kim says “It’s my pleasure and blessing to be the voice for the spirit world. This work that I do brings an amazing peace and closure to many people.” To be read by Kim, or attend one of her seminars, is truly to be in the presence of something rare and astounding and peacefully wondrous.

Kim has been put through a battery of tests and has become a Certified Medium by The Forever Family Foundation and The Windbridge Institute for Applied Research in Human Potential. This foundation is dedicated and committed to proving the existence of life after death by integrating mediumship along with scientific studies. Kim has appeared on A & E’s hit show, Paranormal State and their hit TV show Psychic Kids. She has also appeared on The Biography Channel’s Celebrity Ghost Stories featuring the Country Legend Music Star, Loretta Lynn. Jordan Smith Jordan Smith showed the world his musical gift in 2015 when he became the “Best-selling artist in the history of The Voice” and the winner of Season 9. Now, he shares his message through the songs on his forthcoming 2016 debut album for Republic Records/LightWorkers Records— Something Beautiful.

“It’s extremely important for me to let everyone know it’s OK to be different,” he affirms. “I feel like it’s taken a long time for me to love different parts of myself. The world is hurting and searching, because we think there are flawed parts of who we are. It’s important to accept yourself and have confidence, and then you can love others.”

Jordan’s honesty made history. Not only did he cement himself as The Voice’s biggest seller, moving 1.5 million singles in 6 months, but he launched 8 songs to the Top 10 of iTunes— the first artist from any season to hit the iTunes Top 10 every single week of the Live Rounds.

He also became “one of two The Voice artists to notch three #1s during the show’s season.”

Meanwhile, he’s “the first act to own both the #1 and #2 titles concurrently on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs Chart.” The singer and performer has certainly come a long way from his native Harlan, Kentucky.

In a “close knit town where everyone knows everyone,” Jordan found himself surrounded by music at home. He constantly sang with his family, whether harmonizing in the car with his mom or singing in the church choir. At the same time, he fell in love with the likes of gospel singer Shirley Caesar, pop songstress Sara Bareilles, the legendary Whitney Houston, and more. This diversity would inform his own sound and style.

In high school, Jordan’s music teacher noticed his talent and encouraged him with one-on-one training and a place to practice.

After graduation, he attended college, pursuing a major in Music Business. In 2014, he decided to audition for The Voice following years of fandom.

“I’ve been a fan since season one,” he goes on.

“So when auditions came near my school, I had to try out. We signed up the day before and drove all night to Nashville. I actually got a call back, but when I did the private audition, I never heard anything. I was a bit disappointed, but inside I thought I was meant to be a part of it. It just wasn’t the right time.”

The right time serendipitously came a year later when a talent scout reached out. Jordan made it to the show, joined Adam Levine’s team, and eventually emerged as the 2015 victor.

Following the season’s conclusion, he headed right to the studio with legendary Grammy Award®-winning producer David Foster [Céline Dion, Michael Bublé, Josh Groban], Academy Award®-nominee and songwriter extraordinaire Stephan Moccio [The Weeknd, Céline Dion], and Grammy Award®-winning artist and writer Kirk Franklin [Gladys Knight, John Tesh] in order to begin work on Something Beautiful.

“This is a dream come true,” he smiles. “These guys are all geniuses, and feeding off their wisdom is so special.”

Also a part of that “dream team” are legendary Emmy Award-winning producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey. The record will be the first release on their new label LightWorkers Records. Inspired by Jordan’s talent and energy, they’ve stood in his corner since the moment he emerged on The Voice. Now, Something Beautiful highlights his immense vocal prowess.

Jordan’s robust delivery breathes a new kind of soul into timeless classics such as “Over The Rainbow” and “Amazing Grace” as well as Maroon 5’s “Love Somebody,” Florence + the Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over,” and “Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful.” It’s the original material where both the vision and voice shine the most.

The first single is the Moccio-produced original “Stand In The Light.” Violin, piano, and guitar etch together a warm sonic backdrop as Jordan’s voice takes flight on the uplifting refrain, “This is who I am inside. This is who I am I’m not gonna hide.”

On another Moccio collaboration, “I Got To Be Me,” he sings, “How can you love someone when you can’t love yourself?” Jordan admits, “That’s big for me. It’s how I feel. Once you open up your heart, you can love others.”

“The medium is music, but the message is the most important thing to me,” Jordan leaves off. “I want this record to inspire people. Some of these songs are about love, some are about strength, and some are about personal experiences.

Music is a very powerful tool. I’m thankful and blessed to use it in order to spread hope with Something Beautiful.”

Russian National Ballet Theatre: Swan Lake A Columbia Artists Production Direct from Moscow, Russia

RUSSIAN NATIONAL BALLET THEATRE Company of 50 Artistic Director: Elena Radchenko The Russian National Ballet Theatre was founded in Moscow during the transitional period of Perestroika in the late 1980s, when many of the great dancers and choreographers of the Soviet Union’s ballet institutions were exercising their new-found creative freedom by starting new, vibrant companies dedicated not only to the timeless tradition of classical Russian Ballet but to invigorate this tradition as the Russians began to accept new developments in the dance from around the world.

The company, then titled the Soviet National Ballet, was founded by and incorporated graduates from the great Russian choreographic schools of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Perm.

The principal dancers of the company came from the upper ranks of the great ballet companies and academies of Russia, and the companies of Riga, Kiev and even Warsaw. Today, the Russian National Ballet Theatre is its own institution, with over 50 dancers of singular instruction and vast experience, many of whom have been with the company since its inception. In addition to their extensive tour history, beginning in January 2017 the company will embark upon a 4-month coast-to-coast tour of the United States.

In 1994, the legendary Bolshoi principal dancer Elena Radchenko was selected by Presidential decree to assume the first permanent artistic directorship of the company. Ms. Radchenko is the founder of the Russian National Ballet Theatre, and she has focused the Company on upholding the grand national tradition of the major Russian ballet works and developing new talents throughout Russia, with a repertory of virtually all of the great full works of Petipa: Don Quixote, La Bayadere, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Raymonda, Paquita, Coppelia and La Sylphide, as well as productions of, among others, The Nutcracker, Sylvia, and La Fille Mal Gardee.

Russian National Ballet Theatre: Swan Lake PROGRAM NOTES ACT I : The Garden of Prince Siegfried’s Castle Prince Siegfried has come of age and entered upon a new world of affairs of war and the burdens of manhood. It is the day for leaving behind the whims and caprice of youth. A happy day for the Prince, though touched by anxiety. The kindly jester and tutor who have been the Prince’s loving companions since his childhood are the first to congratulate him. He greets his companions and joyfully accepts the congratulations of all the residents of the Castle.

The Prince’s subjects come from far and wide to take part in the festivities. They confer upon him the sword and scepter of authority and swear allegiance to their new ruler. His mother, the Queen Mother of the Realm, presents him with an arbalest as a gift and reminds him that the time has come to choose a bride and that he must make the fateful decision at tomorrow’s ball. He is eager to contemplate this life change in silence. The festivities continue, but the Prince is overcome by a desire to be alone, far from his guests. As he begins to search the contents of his heart he notices a flight of white swans heading toward the nearby lake. He is inspired and follows them there, disappearing into the night.

ACT II : A Lakeside The voyage to the lake takes the Prince into the depths of the forest. He approaches the Swans quietly and as he nears he sees something quite out of the ordinary. The Swans have stepped ashore and assumed human form! Siegfried lowers the crossbow, astonished with their striking beauty. He gathers his courage and reveals himself. Odette, the swan’s Queen tells him of their terrible curse. They are all at the mercy of the wicked sorcerer Rotbart and only by finding true love can the evil spell be lifted. Siegfried, overcome with love at first sight, swears to her an everlasting love. As the sun beings to dawn, Odette warns him that if he breaks his oath, nothing will be able to help them. The Prince is completely overcome by the incomparable and exquisite delicacy of Odette, and swears that he will return and free her from the evil spell. As the sunlight touches them, the women transform back into Swans, cloaked in silence.

--Intermission-ACT III : The Great Hall of Prince Siegfried’s Castle The castle resounds to the clamor of festivities. Renowned Princesses from Hungary, Russia, Spain, Italy and Poland are presented to the Prince. He must choose one of them as his bride, in order to strengthen his authority and consolidate his power. However, in none of these royal heiresses does he find a maiden comparable to Odette, to whom he has given his heart. He rejects them all.

With an overwhelming blare of trumpets, a couple of new guests are announced. The evil sorcerer, Rotbart, enters in the guise of a noble knight, and following close behind is his daughter, Odylle, who looks remarkably like Odette. The similarity is so close, in fact, that Siegfried believes, if only for a split second, that it is Odette standing there before him. Odylle seizes the brief moment of illusion as an opportunity and will not allow him to find his senses. She becomes a bewitching temptress, luring him, hypnotizing him, and tricking him into confessing his undying love to her! In this hypnotic stupor, he proclaims that Odylle is to be his bride. Rotbard has triumphed!

Siegfried has broken his oath to Odette, betraying her by professing love to another, thereby dooming Odette and the others to an eternity under Rotbart’s evil power. Suddenly a vision of the Swan Lake appears before Siegfried’s eyes, snapping him back into reality. He realizes the terrible mistake he has made. In despair he leaves the palace and hurries to Odette at the Lake.

ACT IV : The Lakeside Night falls again on the Lake. The swan maidens are anxious, for if the Prince does not fulfill his vow to set them free, they will be doomed to everlasting captivity. The sorcerer raises a raging storm to conceal the Swan Lake behind a screen of dark clouds, But the Prince rushes headlong through the storm to Odette. The sorcerer attempts to conceal her from him, but no power can stop the young man whose heart is so full of love.

The Prince overcomes all obstacles, and the spell cast by the evil sorcerer is dashed forever on the rock of true love.

In 2013, Colin Mochrie was named Canadian Comedy Person of the Year at the Canadian Comedy Awards. After nine years as a regular on the British improvisation series Whose Line is it Anyway?, he became a regular on the American version hosted by Drew Carey, which ran for six years on ABC and three years on ABC Family. In 2011, the entire cast was reunited in Vegas for Drew Carey’s Improv‐ aganza, a new series which aired for one season on GSN. A new hit version of Whose Line is it Anyway?, featuring Colin, Wayne, Ryan, and new host Aisha Tyler, is currently airing on the CW Network. Launched in July of 2013 with 12 episodes, it has subsequently been renewed for a second season with an order of 24 more shows to air in 2014.

Colin appears regularly in film and television and was notably a cast member of CBC’s classic news spoof This Hour Has 22 Minutes for two seasons. With his wife, Debra McGrath, he produced, wrote and starred in the CBC show Getting Along Famously.

A native of Scotland but life‐long resident of Canada, Colin has remarkably toured worldwide for the past ten years, with Whose

Line castmate Brad Sherwood, performing a live improv show. An Evening with Colin and Brad, has the distinction of being one of the longest running comedy tours in history. Their first live, taped special, Colin and Brad: Two Man Group, will air soon on the CW Network.

In 2012, ABC aired eight episodes of Trust Us With Your Life, produced by the makers of Whose Line and costarring Colin, Wayne Brady, and many of his former Whose Line cast members (but without Ryan Stiles). Fred Willard was host.

Colin has garnered awards including a Writers Guild of Canada award (writing, 22 Minutes), three Canadian Comedy Awards (writing – 22 Minutes, “Pretty Funny Male” – Whose Line and Canadian Comedy Person of the Year 2013) as well as a Gemini Award (Best Ensemble, 22 Minutes). In 2010, Colin received the ACTRA Toronto Award of Excellence. Perhaps his greatest award to date was for Best Hollywood Appearance at the 2010 B‐Movie Awards (Jane White is Sick and Twisted).

His first book of fiction, Not Quite the Classics, in which he uses the first and last lines of familiar classics as a launching and landing point and re‐ imagines everything in between, was released

by Viking, a publishing arm of Penguin Canada, in October 2013. The ebook version is currently available in the US at www.diversionbooks.com or www.amazon.com.

Colin Mochrie & Brad Sherwood BRAD SHERWOOD Brad Sherwood is a regular cast member on ABC’s Whose Line Is It Anyway? and was a regular on the British version on Comedy Central as well. Brad can also be seen as a guest performer on the brand new improv tv show on ABC called, “Trust Us With Your Life,” from the producers of Whose Line which features improvisations of life events of guest celebs each week.

His credits include The Drew Carey Show, The Green Screen Show, The Smartest Guy In Town, Jury Duty, VH-1’s I Love The 70s, 80s, & 90s, and over 100 sketch appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Brad’s other past credits include a season on LA Law, To Tell The Truth, The Newz, guest hosting Talk Soup, hosting The New Dating Game, and announcing on the game show The Price is Right opposite Drew Carey.

Brad is currently touring the world with Colin Mochrie in the very successful and critically acclaimed, two-man improv show appropriately titled An Evening with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood.

Olivia Newton-John Olivia Newton-John’s appeal seems to be timeless. With a career spanning more than five decades she is still a vibrant, creative individual adored by fans around the globe. Born in Cambridge, England in 1948, the youngest child of Professor Brin Newton-John and Irene, daughter of Nobel Prize winning physicist, Max Born, Olivia moved to Melbourne, Australia with her family when she was five. Her first big break was winning a talent contest on the popular TV show, “Sing, Sing, Sing,” which earned Olivia a trip to London. By the age of fifteen she had formed an all-girl group called Sol Four and, in 1963, Olivia was appearing on local daytime TV shows and weekly pop music programs in Australia. When she eventually took her prizewinning trip to London, she teamed up with her friend from Melbourne, Pat Carroll (now Farrar), to create a double act, “Pat & Olivia,” and the duo toured army bases and clubs throughout the UK and Europe. Olivia cut her first single for Decca Records in 1966, a version of Jackie DeShannon’s “Till You Say You’ll Be Mine,” and in 1971, she recorded a cover of Bob Dylan’s “If Not For You,” co-produced by Bruce Welch and fellow Aussie and friend, John Farrar, whom she continues to collaborate with today.

Olivia’s U.S. album debut, “Let Me Be There,” produced her first top ten single of the same name, with Olivia being honored by the Academy Of Country Music as Most Promising Female Vocalist and a Grammy Award as Best Country Vocalist. This proved to be only the beginning of a very exciting career. With more than 100 million albums sold, Olivia’s successes include four Grammy Awards, numerous Country Music, American Music and Peoples Choice Awards, ten #1 hits including “Physical,” which topped the charts for ten consecutive weeks, and over 15 top 10 singles. In September 2008, Billboard Magazine listed “Physical” at #6 on their Top 100 Songs Of All Time list and in 2010 listed it as “The Sexiest Song of All Time”.

In 1978, her co-starring role with John Travolta in “Grease” catapulted Olivia into superstardom.

This film’s best-selling soundtrack featured the duets “You’re The One That I Want” and “Summer Nights,” with Travolta, as well as her mega-hit, “Hopelessly Devoted To You.” To date “Grease” remains the most successful movie musical in history. Her other feature film credits include “Funny Things Happen Down Under,” “Toomorrow,” “Xanadu,” “Two Of A Kind,” “It’s My

Party,” “Sordid Lives,” “Score: A Hockey Musical,” and “A Few Best Men.” Throughout her career, the much-loved star, who danced with Gene Kelly in “Xanadu,” hosted the popular internationally syndicated “Wild Life” television show, was bestowed an O.B.E. (Order Of The British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth in 1979, has held many humanitarian causes close to her heart, particularly since the birth of her daughter Chloe in 1986. Olivia was named the first Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Environment Programme and in 1991, served as the national spokesperson for the Children’s Health Environmental Coalition (CHEC), which was founded after the tragic death of Chloe’s best friend from a rare childhood cancer. Her devotion and shared commitment to CHEC’s (now Healthy Child, Healthy World) mission and goals enabled the organization to receive worldwide attention and support. Her charmed life has not been without its share of upset. In the 90’s, Olivia successfully overcame her own battle with breast cancer, which inspired her self-penned and produced album, “Gaia,” her most personal album reflecting upon her experiences with cancer.

She used these experiences to gain greater selfawareness and became a positive inspiration to millions of people battling cancer. As a breast cancer “thriver”, Olivia has become increasingly well known and respected for talking openly about her battle with breast cancer and for promoting public awareness of the importance of early detection. Her personal triumph over cancer led her to announce her partnership with Austin Health and the creation of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre (ONJCWC) on the Austin Campus in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. In April 2008, Olivia led a team of fellow cancer survivors, celebrities and Olympians on a trek along the Great Wall of China and raised more than $2 million to find a new way to treat cancer and build the ONJCWC. The strategic colocation of research laboratories and research-training within a clinical environment enables clinicians and researchers to work together to integrate clinical medicine with basic and translational cancer research for the ultimate benefit of cancer patients.

Continuing her efforts to create breast health and cancer awareness, Olivia launched the Liv Aid ®, a breast self-examination aid that assists women to exercise breast selfexams correctly (www.Liv.com). Olivia credits her own breast selfexam as the first step to her eventual diagnosis of breast cancer. Now, 22 years later (and cancer free) she has become a passionate advocate in creating awareness for early detection and, encouraging women to take a more active role in their breast health.

Olivia continues to give back to the community generously and has been acknowledged many times by charitable and environmental organizations for her ongoing efforts, among them: the American Red Cross, the Environmental Media Association, the Women’s Guild of Cedar’s Sinai Medical Center, and the Rainforest Alliance and Concept Cure.

In 1992 she created National Tree Day, which is responsible for planting more than 10 million trees in Australia. Most recently she co-founded One Tree, One Child, an international school initiative with the goal of having every child under the age of ten plant at least one tree.

In the new millennium, her international recognition has continued to grow. She was invited by the Vatican on behalf of Pope John Paul II to perform at the “Jubilee Celebration for the Sick and Healthcare Workers” and, she was thrilled to perform at the Opening Ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympics to an estimated global viewing audience of four billion people.

Adding to this Olympic experience is what Olivia feels is one of her most memorable moments the honor of carrying the Olympic Torch during the Olympic Torch Relay.

In 1983, as an entrepreneur with a desire to bring “everything Australian” to the world, she opened her first store, Koala Blue, with her friend and former singing partner, Pat Farrar.

Her passion for Australia was proven once again when Olivia and Pat launched their distinctly Australian wines under the iconic homegrown

Koala Blue brand, to proudly bring the “taste of Australia” to the rest of the world in 2002.

That year Olivia was also inducted into the prestigious Australian Music Hall Of Fame at the 16th Annual Aria Awards. Then, in 2006 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by friend John Travolta at the G’Day L.A. Gala.

In February 2005, along with her business partners Gregg Cave, Warwick Evans and Ruth Kalnin, Olivia opened the Gaia Retreat & Spa in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia, as an ideal place to renew, refresh and restore. The retreat has received numerous awards since it has opened including: the Conde Nast Traveller 2008 Readers’ Spa Award Winner for the “Favourite Overseas Hotel Spa: Australasia & South Pacific.”

In January 2010, TripAdvisor named Gaia #3 of the “Top 10 Celebrity-Owned Hotels in the World,” putting Olivia in the company of fellow hotel owners, Robert Redford, Bono and Robert DeNiro among others. In 2011 Gaia also received the “Best Health Retreat” Award at the Gourmet Traveller Travel Awards, as well as TripAdvisor’s “Traveller’s Choice Award for Best Relaxation/ Spa Hotels in South Pacific,” and placed #3 in the World for “Best Relaxation/Spa Hotels.” And, for two consecutive years (2013 and 2014) the World Travel Awards honored Gaia as “Australia’s Leading Spa Resort” and “Australia’s Leading Boutique Hotel.” In 2014, Gaia also became a member of Virtuoso, the travel industry’s leading luxury network spanning over 26 countries and 9,000 travel advisors. 2014 also saw the launch of Gaia’s elite and acclaimed skin care line, “Retreatment.”

Olivia’s 2007 holiday recording, “Christmas Wish” features both new and classic holiday favorites and duets with such Grammy winners as Barry Manilow, Michael McDonald, David Foster and Jon Secada, to name a few, and was called one of the “Best Holiday CDs of 2007”

by USA Today. That year she also premiered her first concert special for Public Television – “Olivia Newton-John: Live From Sydney!” filmed at the historic Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony. A two-hour DVD release of this stunning performance, featuring additional concert footage and Olivia’s personal tour of some of her favorite spots in Sydney, was released by Capitol / EMI in January 2008 and subsequently became a favorite concert special on PBS. In 2008, Olivia began cohosting

Olivia Newton-John and co-producing the PBS series, “Healing Quest” and, she reprised her film role of Bitsy Mae Harling from “Sordid Lives” in the LOGO series to rave reviews.

In 2008, Olivia married “Amazon John” Easterling and, together they are spreading the word about the importance of preserving the Rainforest and, the health values found in the botanicals of the Amazon. They currently serve as spokespersons for the renowned wellness company TriVita and are working closely with the ACEER Organization (Amazon Center for Environmental Education and Research) to help the indigenous people of the Amazon gain ownership and title to their land. In September 2009, they also joined forces with Prince Charles’ The Prince’s Rainforest Project to further stress the global importance of preserving the Rainforest.

In 2010, Olivia also appeared as herself in two episodes of the hit series, “Glee,” adding another Top 100 hit to her credits with a new version of “Physical” sung with Jane Lynch. In October 2010 Olivia starred in the breast cancer docudrama “1 A Minute” and, the Canadian film “Score: A Hockey Musical.” Her 2012 film, “A Few Best Men,” garnered her some of the best reviews of her film career. The soundtrack to the film features dance remixes of classic hits such as “Sugar Sugar” and “Daydream Believer” recorded by Olivia and remixed by some of the hottest club remixers in the world. In addition the CD reunites Olivia with her longtime producer and songwriter, John Farrar, on the single, “Weightless.”

Also in 2010, Olivia was honored with the prestigious Medal of the Order of Australia from Governor General Quentin Bryce. In addition to starring in films and on television and writing books and music, Olivia continues to spend time in the recording studio. Her healing CD, “Grace and Gratitude: Renewed” (2010), debuted at #2 on the Billboard Magazine New Age chart. In addition, Billboard celebrated Olivia’s new music by saying, “Newton-John is soulfully committed to every word she sings, and fans will be taken by the plush arrangements, melodic warmth, and of course, the artist’s regal vocals.”

Olivia released her second book, LivWise: Easy Recipes For A Healthy, Happy Life (Murdoch Books) in Australia in 2011. (Her first book, A Pig Tale, an environmentallythemed story written for children, was released in 1993.) In LivWise, Olivia explains her belief in the importance of eating a healthy diet in order to maintain wellness and balance and, Olivia’s proceeds from the sale of the book benefit the ONJCWC. In addition in 2012, she reunited with John Travolta to release “This Christmas,” a holiday CD collection that was also a fundraiser for both the ONJCWC and The Jett Travolta Foundation.

In 2012, Olivia was bestowed the honor of being named one of Australia’s “National Living Treasures” by the National Trust of Australia. This was followed by another honor in 2013 when Olivia was bestowed her owns stamp as part of the “Australia Post Legends” stamp series.

In April 2014, Olivia began her residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas with “Summer Nights,” a musical journey through her career in movies and music. To coincide with the show, she released “Hotel Sessions” an EP collection of songs recorded in hotel rooms in Melbourne over a ten-year period with her nephew Brett Goldsmith. The CD is dedicated to her late sister Rona Newton-John, who was always supportive of Olivia and Brett working together. Due to the popularity of the Las Vegas show, Olivia’s residency has been extended through January 2016 and, a 2-CD set, “Summer Nights – Live in Las Vegas” was released earlier this year.

In April of 2015 Olivia toured arenas in Australia with fellow Aussie icon, John Farnhm, with the aptly titled show, “Two Strong Hearts.”

A CD of highlights form this sold-out tour will be available in June 2015. The Australia tour was followed by a sold-out tour of Japan prior to her return to Las Vegas to resume her residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas.

GTLO has amassed a strong national touring history, having performed at major club and PAC venues across the country. GTLO’s approach to their performance of this hallowed catalog is not unlike a classical performance. “Led Zeppelin are sort of the classical composers of the rock era,” says lead vocalist Paul Sinclair. “I believe 100 years from now they will be looked at as the Bach or Beethoven of our time. As cliché as it sounds, their music is timeless.”

Joey Alexander Born in the city of Denpasar on the island of Bali in Indonesia in June of 2003, Joey Alexander encountered a keyboard at the age of six and immediately began picking out the melody of Thelonious Monk’s “Well, You Needn’t” by ear. His father, an amatuer musician with a huge passion for jazz, was astonished. He soon discovered his boy not only could pick up virtually any jazz composition by ear, he also had an impeccable sense of swing, and a gift for improvising that was near par to the records that he was learning from, and truly uncanny for a boy of his slight years. As there was no jazz education available in Denpasar, Joey’s first jazz training’ came from sitting in on an informal jam sessions with local and visiting professionals in Bali. “He did study classical music,” explains his father “but what he really loved was swing.”

Joey’s musical intuition further flourished and eventually, his parents moved to Jakarta so he would have a chance to expand his horizons by studying and playing with professionals.

By 2011, Joey had been featured at the Jakarta International Jazz Festival, and was included in a UNESCO jazz event organized

by Herbie Hancock, who gave the budding musician an enthusiastic thumbs up. In 2013, he entered and won the Master Jam Fest improvisation contest of Jazz in Odessa Festival in Ukraine, triumphing over 43 adult jazz professionals from 17 countries. By this time it was clear to his parents that Joey was destined for a career in jazz.

In 2014 Wynton Marsalis ‘discovered’ Joey performing in Jakarta, and flew him in to New York City to participate in his all-star Jazz At Lincoln Center Gala, MC’d by Billy Crystal.

Joey wowed the jazz stars and audience alike with his soulful and sophisticated arrangement of Round Midnight. He got a huge ovation and was later written up in Downbeat as ‘a genius,.’ Joey also performed for President Clinton and other luminaries at the Arthur Ashe Foundation Gala.

It was Grammy Award winning producer Jason Olaine who took Joey under his wing, introduced him to Motema Music and jazz patron Daniel Pincus and spearheaded the collaboration to apply for an O1 Visa (for individuals of Extraordinary Ability) for Joey.

As further proof of the validity of Joey’s quest, the visa was granted in record time… and just in time to make it possible for Joey to play at The Apollo theater in honor of Herbie Hancock at the star-studded Jazz Foundation of America Gala in October of 2014 where he got yet another enthusiastic ovation, more press accolades and a priceless show of support from Hancock who was stunned

by Joey’s musical sophistication. Just two days later, buoyed by this momentous set of events, Joey and Olaine entered the studio with jazz veterans Larry Grenadier and Ulysses Owens to record the first session for his debut album. Although he’d never been in a recording studio before, Joey was unintimidated. Take after take he delivered fresh performances that flowed with ease and joy.

As Engineer Katherine Miller explained, it was a typical jazz recording session - some great takes a few punch ins, but none of them by the pianist. Label head Jana Herzen stood by in awe.

The excellence of My Favorite Things next led to Joey being signed by Wynton Marsalis’ long time manager Ed Arrendell and to the prestigious IMN Agency. Another vote of confidence in Joey’s artistry has come from impresario George Wein who has selected Joey’s trio for presentation the 2015 edition of the prestigious Newport Jazz Festival.

Joey now resides in New York City where he plans to go to school and continue honing his chops in the jazz capital of the world.

He cites his major influences as Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Lee Morgan, Miles Davis and Wynton Marsalis.

Neil Sedaka Singer. Songwriter. Composer. Pianist. Author.

These are just a few of the titles that can be used to describe Neil Sedaka. His impressive fifty year career ranges from being one of the first teen pop sensations of the 50’s, a relevant songwriter for himself and other artists in the 60’s, a superstar in the 70’s, remaining a constant force in writing and performing presently. This is all thanks to the countless songs he has written, performed, and produced that continue to inspire artists and audiences around the world.

Neil Sedaka was born on March 13, 1939.

Neil’s interest in music began at the young age of eight, when he would listen to The Make-Believe Ballroom. But, it was not Rock and Roll, but Classical music that would shape Neil into the musician he is today.

By the time he was nine years old, he had already begun his intensive classical piano training at the prestigious Julliard School of Music. At 16, Arthur Rubinstein voted Neil as one of the best New York High School pianists. Though Neil considered pursuing a Doctorate in music, Neil’s next choice became his chosen vocation.

Eager to gain acceptance from his peers at Abraham Lincoln High School, Neil began performing Rock N Roll outside of his classical training. At this time, he would form the DooWop group The Tokens, in which they would record two singles that would go on to be regional hits. But, it was his introduction to his young neighbor Howard Greenfield, by Greenfield’s mother, that began one of the most prolific songwriting partnerships of the last half-century that sold forty million records between 1959-1963.

Sedaka and Greenfield became one of the original creators of the “Brill Building” sound in the late fifties and early sixties when they were the first to sign with Don Kirshner and Al Nevins at Aldon Music. Aldon Music would go on to sign Neil Diamond, Carole King, and Paul Simon among many others, and they became the center of the pop world.

Sedaka catapulted into stardom after Connie Francis recorded his “Stupid Cupid.” She then sang the theme song Neil and Howard had written for the 1960 MGM spring break classic, Where the Boys Are, which would be her biggest hit. Rhythm and blues stars Clyde

McPhatter and LaVern Baker also scored hits with his songs. As a result of these hits, Sedaka was able to sign a contract with RCA as a writer and performer of his own material. Sedaka soon recorded chart toppers “The Diary,” “Oh! Carol,” “ Stairway to Heaven,” “Calendar Girl,” “Little Devil,” “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen,” “Next Door To An Angel,” and “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do,” songs that have become a part of peoples’ lives and can instantly take listeners back to special moments. His music became distinguished for a unique recording style involving multi-tracking his own voice.

In 1964, the direction of American music changed drastically when The Beatles launched The British Invasion. It became very hard for most male solo artists to continue to pursue their career in music. Due to his many talents as a songwriter, Neil was able to prevail, writing hit songs for such artists including Frank Sinatra (The Hungry Years), Elvis Presley (Solitaire), Tom Jones (“Puppet Man”), The Monkees (When Love Comes Knocking At Your Door), and The Fifth Dimension (Workin’ on a Groovy Thing).

Neil’s journey continued in the UK with the release of his album “Emergence” in 1972. This was the first step of redefining himself as a solo artist. It was Elton John who decided to sign Neil to his up and coming record label Rocket Records and begin to re-introduce Neil to American audiences. The two albums he recorded for the Rocket label, Sedaka’s Back in 1974 and The Hungry Years in 1975, both became top selling albums around the world. His comeback was further heralded by two of his songs co-written with Phil Cody, “Bad Blood” and the quintessential “Laughter in the Rain,” both reaching the #1 position on the music charts. In Rolling Stone Magazine, Sedaka was hailed as “the new phenomenon.”

The song “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” was re-released as a ballad in 1975, and made music history when it reached #1 on the charts, becoming the first song recorded in two different versions by the same artist to reach the Number One. During this time, Sedaka also helped to launch the career of the Captain and Tennille with their version of his “Love Will Keep Us Together,” which won a Grammy Award for Record of the Year for this worldwide, number one hit.

Neil Sedaka The accolades showered on Neil Sedaka have been numerous. Among the honors he has received, Sedaka has been inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, has had a street named after him in his hometown of Brooklyn, and was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

With a career spanning six decades, a rare feat in the entertainment world, Sedaka never ceases to amaze. He shows no signs of slowing down. Neil has appeared on FOX’s hit Television show American Idol, as a guest judge – in which Clay Aiken would perform Neil’s Solitaire, which saw an inevitable release, reaching #4 on the Hot 100 Singles chart, and was one of the Top Selling Singles of 2004.

On June 10 2004, he received the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Popular Music / Songwriters Hall of Fame at the organization’s 35th annual induction and awards ceremony in New York. Named for the former President of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, this award is given to individuals in recognition of their outstanding achievements in furthering the successes of songwriters.

In 2006, Neil concluded a 10 city tour of the United Kingdom, where he filmed a Live Concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall for PBS (which was released as Neil Sedaka: The Show Goes On – Live at the Royal Albert Hall). During this historical evening, Neil was presented with The Guinness Award for his song “(Is This the Way to) Amarillo”, as the best selling single of the 21st century in the UK, a song that was originally performed by Tony Christie over thirty-five years ago.

On April 24, 2007, Neil released “The Definitive Collection”, a career-spanning retrospective released in honor of his 50th Anniversary in show business. “The Definitive Collection” debuted at #22 on the Billboard Chart, marking the first time Neil has appeared on the chart since 1980.

On October 26, 2007, Neil was honored with a tribute at Avery Fisher Hall at New York’s Lincoln Center. “Neil Sedaka: 50 Years of Hits”, a benefit for The Elton John AIDS Foundation, showcased Neil’s songs, with performances

by Connie Francis, Dion, Paul Shaffer, Natalie Cole, Clay Aiken, Renee Olstead, and Captain and Tennille. The evening was hosted by

Cousin Brucie Morrow and David Foster. Sir Elton John and Barry Manilow sent video tributes in their absence.

Sedaka has been married for fifty years to his wife, Leba, and they have two children: daughter Dara is a recording artist and vocalist for television and radio commercials, and son Marc is a successful screenwriter in Los Angeles. Neil has three grandchildren, twin granddaughters Amanda and Charlotte, and a grandson, Michael.

Inspired by his grandchildren, Neil released “Waking Up is Hard to Do”, a collection of Neil Sedaka Hits that have been reinvented as children’s songs. “Waking Up is Hard to Do” was a family collaboration, in which Neil’s son Marc adapted four of his father’s classic songs, and Neil’s five-year-old granddaughters made their recording debut as his backup vocalists.

Since the release of the CD, Imagine Publishing has begun releasing a series of books based on these songs. In September 2010 saw the release of “Waking Up Is Hard to Do”. Its follow up, “Dinosaur Pet”, featuring Marc’s new lyric to “Calendar Girl”, was released in May 2012 and peaked at #3 on The New York Times Bestseller List.

In May 2010, Neil was awarded The Special International Award from The Ivors, honoring excellence in songwriting. On October 8th, Neil was the Variety Club’s recipient of The Silver Heart Award, for his outstanding service to the music industry and his charitable work.

Neil has returned to his classical roots, composing his first symphonic piece “Joie De Vivre”, and his first piano concerto “Manhattan Intermezzo”. In October 2010, Neil recorded these two pieces with the Philharmonia Orchestra of London at the famed Air Studios in London.

In addition to his extensive worldwide tour schedule, Neil has just released “The Real Neil”, a CD of brand new Sedaka material, including a few Sedaka classics. “The most challenging task for a songwriter is to write a simple tune but still bring an emotional feeling to it”, says Neil. “ After 60 years of writing, I am very proud of these new songs.

This is my first acoustic album. Piano and voice, the pure form of the song, just the way I write them. The songs are very personal and come from my soul. It’s the culmination of all

“Laughter in the Rain”, the critically acclaimed musical that chronicles Neil’s rise, fall, and rise again, just concluded its tour through the United Kingdom. Produced by Bill Kenwright and Laurie Mansfield, “Laughter in the Rain” garnered exceptional reviews

for Philip Norman’s book and Wayne Smith’s star-making performance as Neil. Neil is very hopeful it will be launched in 2014 on The West End. All of these ventures will no doubt add to his legend – that of a consummate musician, an extraordinary vocalist, and an ageless songwriting talent.
