A WELCOME FROM OUR PRESIDENT Welcome back to MPAC! We are so happy to see you here again. I hope that you and your family are well and healthy.

What makes our performing arts center so special is that it brings us together as a community to share the collective excitement of live theatre. We are thrilled to be able to be that community gathering place again.

The COVID pandemic has truly tested the resolve of our theatre. Despite countless obstacles, we forged ahead and developed new and creative ways to serve our audiences, from drive-in concerts to virtual programming to online Performing Arts School classes to limited-capacity shows, and now, the return of full capacity events.

MPAC has practiced stringent health guidelines since first reopening in October 2020 and we will continue to do everything within our ability to make our venue safe for our patrons, performers, volunteers and staff.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in following these guidelines as we reopen safely.

Since 1937 this extraordinary theatre has celebrated good times and risen above dark periods, but only with the help of an incredible community. As a nonprofit theatre, we are profoundly grateful for the generosity of our patrons and supporters. Your contributions have been vital to our survival.

I am confident that the brighter days are returning, and great new memories will be made in the upcoming season.

A WELCOME FROM OUR BOARD CHAIRMAN Thank you for returning to MPAC. We know for many of you it’s been a while, and we’ve missed you.

I’ve been pleased and impressed by how much MPAC has been able to deliver through the course of the pandemic, keeping the arts alive and engaging our patrons when their spirits have needed uplifting the most. I’m grateful to our dedicated members who have stood with us, giving because they believe our mission is more vital than ever.

MPAC is thankful for the support of all of the individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies that have helped to sustain us through the pandemic.

Whether it was a large gift or a few dollars added to a ticket purchase, every contributed dollar is appreciated. It means so much to us to know how much you value MPAC. While our situation has certainly improved since the onset of the pandemic in early 2020, COVID remains unpredictable and we continue to face an uncertain future. It will take two to three years for MPAC to fully recover from the pandemic, and that’s provided there are no more downturns. We hope that you will support MPAC as we move ahead with our programs, bring in star-studded concerts, expand our educational offerings and develop diverse community-based arts programs. Pandemic or not, MPAC will be the leader in our arts community now and into the future.

An Evening with Harry Connick, Jr. Harry Connick, Jr.’s career has exemplified excellence across multiple platforms in the entertainment world over the past three decades. He has received Grammy and Emmy awards as well as Tony nominations for his live and recorded musical performances, his achievements in film and television and his appearances on Broadway as both an actor and a composer. Connick continues to establish himself as a best-selling musician, singer, composer, and a legendary live performer with millions of recordings sold around the world.

The foundation of Connick’s art is the music of his native New Orleans, where he began performing as a pianist and vocalist at the age of five. Highlights of his music career include several multiplatinum recordings such as “When Harry Met Sally,” “Blue Light, Red Light (Someone’s There)”, “When My Heart Finds Christmas,” “Come By Me, and “Only You.” His debut album on legendary Verve Records, his new label home, titled True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter was released in 2019 and which coincided with performances on Broadway in a show he wrote and directed: Harry Connick, Jr.- A Celebration of Cole Porter honoring the musical achievements of one of America’s most respected songwriters, Cole Porter. In 2020 as the country entered the pandemic lockdown, he retreated to his home studio and emerged with an album of songs of faith and inspiration. Alone with My Faith, released during the spring of 2021 displays the sheer breadth of Connick’s talents as he wrote new songs, arranged all songs, played every instrument, and sang every voice.

In June of 2020 he hosted the CBS Special United We Sing: A GRAMMY® Tribute to the Unsung Heroes, honoring essential workers in the pandemic. In 2016, he launched Harry, a national daytime television show, which earned 11 Daytime Emmy nominations, including nominations for best host, and a Critics’ Choice nomination for best talk show. He next stepped into the shoes of Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks in Annie Live!, which aired on NBC December 2, 2021.

On Broadway, Connick received Tony nominations as both a lead actor in The Pajama Game and as a composer/lyricist for Thou Shalt Not. Despite his busy career, Connick has always found the time to be charitable and has done some of his most important work in his efforts to help New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

He, along with friend Branford Marsalis, conceived of “Musicians’ Village,” and its centerpiece the Ellis Marsalis Center.

Musicians’ Village provides homes for Katrina-displaced musicians while the Center uses music as its focal point of a holistic strategy to deliver a broad range of services to underserved children, youth and musicians from neighborhoods battling poverty and social injustice.

Connick’s honors, including a star on the celebrated Hollywood Walk of Fame, induction into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame, Honorary Doctorates from Tulane and Loyola Universities and the Jefferson Award for Public Service, have not led Harry Connick, Jr. to slow his creative pace; they only confirm his determination Connick has appeared in 20 feature films to apply his talents in ways that prove with actors such as Sandra Bullock, Hilary inspirational to other artists and publicly Swank, Renée Zellweger, Sigourney spirited citizens.
