A WELCOME FROM OUR PRESIDENT Welcome back to MPAC! We are so happy to see you here again. I hope that you and your family are well and healthy.

What makes our performing arts center so special is that it brings us together as a community to share the collective excitement of live theatre. We are thrilled to be able to be that community gathering place again.

The COVID pandemic has truly tested the resolve of our theatre. Despite countless obstacles, we forged ahead and developed new and creative ways to serve our audiences, from drive-in concerts to virtual programming to online Performing Arts School classes to limited-capacity shows, and now, the return of full capacity events.

MPAC has practiced stringent health guidelines since first reopening in October 2020 and we will continue to do everything within our ability to make our venue safe for our patrons, performers, volunteers and staff.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in following these guidelines as we reopen safely.

Since 1937 this extraordinary theatre has celebrated good times and risen above dark periods, but only with the help of an incredible community. As a nonprofit theatre, we are profoundly grateful for the generosity of our patrons and supporters. Your contributions have been vital to our survival.

I am confident that the brighter days are returning, and great new memories will be made in the upcoming season.

A WELCOME FROM OUR BOARD CHAIRMAN Thank you for returning to MPAC. We know for many of you it’s been a while, and we’ve missed you.

I’ve been pleased and impressed by how much MPAC has been able to deliver through the course of the pandemic, keeping the arts alive and engaging our patrons when their spirits have needed uplifting the most. I’m grateful to our dedicated members who have stood with us, giving because they believe our mission is more vital than ever.

MPAC is thankful for the support of all of the individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies that have helped to sustain us through the pandemic.

Whether it was a large gift or a few dollars added to a ticket purchase, every contributed dollar is appreciated. It means so much to us to know how much you value MPAC. While our sitation has certainly improved since the onset of the pandemic in early 2020, COVID remains unpredictable and we continue to face an uncertain future. It will take two to three years for MPAC to fully recover from the pandemic, and that’s provided there are no more downturns. We hope that you will support MPAC as we move ahead with our programs, bring in star-studded concerts, expand our educational offerings and develop diverse community-based arts programs. Pandemic or not, MPAC will be the leader in our arts community now and into the future.

RAIN: A Tribute to The Beatles In celebration of the anniversary of Abbey Road, RAIN brings the greatest hits of this epic recording to life, in addition to all your early Beatles favorites. This mind-blowing performance takes you back in time with the legendary foursome delivering a note-for-note theatrical event that is “the next best thing to seeing the Beatles” (Associated Press).

Feb. 9, 1964. A Sunday night that would change the course of popular music, popular culture – and history, forever! Millions of Americans tuned into The Ed Sullivan Show to watch a group of four mop-topped Englishmen in dark suits who called themselves The Beatles. What they witnessed was a new and exciting brand of melodic, guitar-and-harmonies-driven rock ‘n’ roll that was as infectious as it was original and unique. Little did the members of RAIN know that they would themselves come together in a band, forging a career that would keep them together longer than The Beatles! All this while raising the bar for professionalism and preserving the legacy of the immortal band’s recorded music on stage to wildly enthusiastic audiences. Spanning the generations, their audiences include the vast majority of older fans who never got to see The Beatles perform live, and fans who were not yet born when The Beatles hit America.

RAIN’s intention was not just to cover Beatle songs, but to take it to a new level. To do songs that The Beatles had never performed live, and do them note-for-note, just like the records. At this time, ‘tribute bands’ were non-existent.

For more than two decades, RAIN has distinguished itself by focusing on details, always being faithful to The Beatles with the ultimate goal of delivering a perfect note-for-note performance. All the music is performed live, with no pre-recorded tapes or sequences. They approach The Beatles music with the same respect a classical musician treats classical music. They worked hard for many years, studying each song, each note, movement and nuance…both vocally and musically. Today, they have a repertoire of over 200 Beatle songs. The members of RAIN are extraordinarily talented musicians in their own right and this becomes more evident with each show they do. RAIN audiences experience their own personal journey back to a time when Peace and Love was everyone’s mantra.

It’s difficult to believe it has been more than four decades since The Beatles first came to America and that two of our beloved idols left us too soon. Equally hard to believe is the fact that this band whose music touched so many millions of people around the world was only experienced live in concert by very few. Their The story of RAIN actually begins in the mid final concert tour was in 1966, long before the 1970s when keyboardist Mark Lewis joined release of many of their classic albums such forces with four other local musicians who as Sgt. Pepper, The White Album and Abbey together formed the band that was originally Road. This left a tremendous void in the music called “Reign” and played throughout the Los world and concert halls which now has been Angeles/Orange County, CA area.
