Dear Mayfield Senior School Community,
I wish I could thank each and every one of you in person for your generous support. Because of you Mayfield Senior School is thriving—fully enrolled with students who bring their energy, diversity, creativity, kindness, and curiosity to school every day.
I also wish I could take each and every one of you with me into our classrooms so that you could see for yourselves the incredible educational experience that your generosity supports—and it’s all about our teachers.
Because of you, we are able to attract and retain the best educators—absolutely dedicated to our Catholic, Holy Child educational mission, inspired by Cornelia Connelly’s vision of schools filled with focused activity, joyful challenge, and enthusiastic engagement.
Because of you, we can support these wonderful educators through enriching professional development. For example, faculty members receive ongoing one-on-one coaching in educational technology that enhances and expands the classroom experience. On any given day, I might see our students manipulating geometric figures using the latest software, creating videos in Theology class or working collaboratively on a shared Google Doc in English.
Because of you, we were able to support our teachers over the summer in creating crossdepartmental projects, opening up a new world for our students. Working together, the entire ninthgrade humanities team focused on creating a holistic writing and research program for our freshmen. Another group, which included an alumna and past parent, took a deep dive into restructuring service learning at Mayfield.
Because of you, we could also support our faculty further by providing the kind of flexible classroom environment that facilitates great Holy Child teaching. Our new desks on wheels and moveable, interactive screens give teachers the freedom and space to practice the pedagogical techniques that develop the 21st-century skills that are essential for our students—preparing them for professions that we can’t even imagine.
And, most importantly, because of you, at the end of four years our teachers are able to send forth strong young women of faith and intellect to be the leaders that our world needs so desperately.
So thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do to make our excellent Mayfield Senior School education possible—a transformational blessing beyond measure.
With Love and Gratitude,
Kate Morin
