Zur Herstellung von GLYCOLON® werden die beiden Materialbestandteile Polyglykolsäure und ε-Caprolacton in einem bestimmten Verhältnis copolimerisiert.

Der Abbau des polymeren Fadenmaterials im Gewebe erfolgt durch Wasseraufnahme in Umkehrung der

Synthese. Nach Implantation nimmt die Reißkraft von GLYCOLON® nach 7 Tagen auf 30% ab.
