This hardy African plant has been used for many thouands of years to treat a myriad ailments - from scratches and burns to sun protection and purgative medication. Evidence of these healing properties have been found in ancient Roman, Greek and Egyptian archives. Another indigenous plant to the Albertinia district is Thamnochortus insignis, commonly known as thatch.
