elcome to the first edition of Licensing Source Book in 2026 – we hope that you had a wonderful holiday period and that at least some of the New Year resolutions made it past the first week of January. Whether you are one for resolutions or not, the beginning of the year offers us a chance for some goal setting and putting strategies in place to help us achieve them. Speaking to a wide range of brand owners and licensees for this issue, many agreed that the first quarter always feels particularly motivating. Not only are we about to head into the key run of spring trade fairs, where we will undoubtedly see innovation galore in new products across a range of categories, but it’s a period of the year where anything seems possible – we start with a clean slate and have the chance to write the beginning of our story for the next 12 months. For the licensees we spoke to, this is coming through in making sure they have plans and strategies in place which set themselves up well for far beyond Q1. Whether this is investing in NPD, finalising product ranges, doing market research on trends outside of their own categories or seeking out new innovative collaborations, they have all come out of the starting gates of 2026 with a bang. As one licensee told us, Q1 is about discipline and
it’s a chance to build confidence early in the year… start strong and the rest tends to follow. 2026 has the makings of being a landmark year for content. Big movies are lighting up the box office once more and there are some major new product launches on the horizon. Speaking of landmarks, the Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards is marking its 10th anniversary this year, and you can be sure that we will be throwing one mighty celebration on Thursday 23 April at the Royal Lancaster Hotel. Entries are open, so make sure to get them in by Friday 27 February. The growth of the sector is underlined by our largest ever Licensing Museum & Heritage Book, which is published alongside this issue of LSB. We hope you enjoy the edition and the team will see you on the spring trade fair circuit. The licensing business is ready and raring to go for a new year – with a raft of new deals, high profile appointments, innovative collaborations and goal setting.
Products of Change takes sustainability from plan to practice As 2026 begins, we cross into the five-year descent to the United Nations 2030 goals and the deadline for sustainable commitments made by many organisations. Products of Change (POC) will be continuing to support businesses across the licensing, brand and retail space with those goals and enabling them to make the change needed, through network collaborations, focused working groups and industry leading events. For POC, 2025 was all about the business case and the ‘how to’ of sustainability, showcasing the benefit of sustainability in practical, economic terms – how it creates long-term resilience and business efficiencies. As we head into 2026 and the pace increases, the focus will lean towards action and innovation, to really enable the implementation of change. A hallmark project of this focus is the POC Partner Maturity Index, a tool developed by the industry, for the industry, to efficiently capture and showcase environmental maturity data from manufacturing partners for the brand owners within the industry. Licensed manufacturers complete a questionnaire once, and select the brands they work with, automatically populating the dashboards of the brand owners they collaborate with. This service is completely complimentary with no-upsell and has been funded by the brand owners that are part of POC. Once scoring is complete, participants will have the ability to compare their score to an industry benchmark report, allowing them to be compared against the broader industry average, as well as where they need to be to hit the 2030 goals. The first wave of results is expected in Q1 of 2026. To find out more, visit: productsofchange.com/maturity-index-2.

How was 2025 for your business? What were some of the key highlights? Rafa: “2025 was another record year, driven by our commitment to unlocking the full potential of our franchises. Building on the momentum of an extraordinary slate, we not only expanded our presence but also delivered high-impact products and experiences that resonated globally. We reignited fan passion with the live action How to Train Your Dragon, explored a new chapter with Jurassic World: Rebirth and introduced Gabby’s Dollhouse to theatrical audiences for the first time. “We also celebrated a landmark moment with Wicked: For Good. While it marked the conclusion of a chapter, it opened the door to new opportunities for franchise development, positioning us for sustained success in the years ahead.”

Sally: “2025 was a year that required resilience. The market has shifted quickly, retail behaviours have continued to evolve, and we had to make thoughtful adjustments throughout the year. But there was a lot to celebrate too. The arrival of Baby Evie into the Peppa Pig universe was one of the most powerful brand moments I’ve seen in my time at Hasbro. “Evie has struck a real emotional chord with families, and we’ve felt that energy right across our franchise, whether that’s in product performance, retail activation or social buzz. “What’s been most rewarding is how Evie has reminded us of the importance of storytelling. When you introduce a character that adds warmth, relevance and a new chapter for fans to engage with, the entire franchise lifts. It’s set us up with fantastic momentum heading into 2026.”

Sissel: “2025 was an exceptional year for us. We significantly improved our D2C offering, with the refurbishment and expansion of the Paddington flagship store delivering outstanding results with five consecutive months of record-breaking performance. The newly redesigned space offers a more immersive and entertaining Paddington experience, supported by a significantly strengthened product range with new exclusive collections available only at Paddington Station. Our Gen Z collaborations helped introduce Paddington to new audiences and brought contemporary relevance to the brand. We continued to build momentum in the gaming space, expanding Paddington’s presence in interactive entertainment with Crayola and on Roblox. Also, we’ve seen incredible success with the launch of Paddington The Musical, adding a new range of merchandise and the opening of a new musical-themed store on the Strand.” Maarten: “2025 was an exceptional year for WildBrain CPLG, marked by continued growth across all regions. Despite industry changes and headwinds, our team demonstrated remarkable resilience, turning challenges into opportunities for innovation and expansion. Among the standout moments, Strawberry Shortcake’s licensing programme flourished in the
Americas, while Teletubbies made significant strides through dynamic collaborations in Asia-Pacific. Peanuts 75th anniversary was a true highlight, celebrated with a series of unique products and immersive experiences for fans in EMEA and APAC. We also further strengthened our global portfolio by expanding our representation of Dr. Seuss Enterprises into AsiaPacific, extending our relationship with Miraculous outside of the Americas, and welcoming new partners the Van Gogh Museum for global representation and the World of Peter Rabbit for US and Canada.” Alison: “From a commercial standpoint, one defining highlight was the exceptional performance of Wallace & Gromit following its record-breaking ratings on BBC1 in Christmas 2024. The sustained halo effect across consumer products was unprecedented and clearly demonstrates the commercial value that major tent-pole content moments still create. This momentum carried on throughout the year and was reflected in our strong presence at The Licensing Awards, where we secured seven nominations across

multiple categories. Most recently we’ve been delighted to unveil the new M&S x Wallace & Gromit kids’ apparel range. The range brings fashion-led design to our much-loved characters and marks a significant step in our refreshed brand direction.” Charlotte: “2025 was an incredible year for our consumer products business. We expanded into new categories, strengthened existing ones and delivered standout retail activations across grocery and toy channels, driving visibility and engagement. We landed exciting partnerships, including PAW Patrol x Aquafresh and the PAW Patrol Afternoon Tea Bus with Brigit’s Bakery. “We also extended alliances with Pampers, Crayola and Rubies, while Spin Master’s thematic refreshes added fresh energy to the brand. On the content side, we kept momentum going with new series and thematic updates to keep audiences engaged. “SpongeBob stayed firmly in the cultural conversation with collaborations with Fugglers, deodorant brand, Wild, and most recently with TikTok sensation, Made by Mitchell. Emily in Paris returned with a new season on Netflix, alongside consumer product tie-ins, including some amazing partnerships with the likes of Boursin.” Below: Peppa Pig will remain a major focus for Hasbro, as it continues to build the world around Evie.
What properties will be key for your business in 2026? Rafa: “2026 will be an exciting year with two major releases: Illumination and Nintendo’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and the return of Illumination’s Minions to the big screen. We’ll be shining a spotlight on our U-Vault properties, including expanding Felix the Cat. Fast & Furious in 2026 will offer some new and exciting collaborations. Wicked remains a key focus, with exciting experiences and new product lines planned to keep fans fully immersed. And while it’s not a 2026 release, excitement is already building for Shrek 5 in 2027.” Sally: “Peppa Pig will remain a major focus as we continue to build the world around Evie. We’re taking a deliberate step into lifestyle and culture with Play-Doh with partnerships that reframe how consumers see the brand. My Little Pony is also poised for a big moment. The Year of the Horse gives us a natural cultural anchor, and we’re leaning into that with activations that celebrate heritage while keeping it fresh. We’ve also seen a very natural uptick in demand for Power Rangers across the region, and our merch business is growing organically off the back of fan passion and nostalgia.” Sissel: “Paddington will remain our core focus. As we look ahead to the brand’s 70th anniversary, 2026 is a crucial year for continuing to scale globally across consumer products, retail, experiential activations and digital. We will also further develop opportunities within fashion, beauty, gaming and new interactive categories. “We are also thrilled to be supporting Aardman on the release of Shaun the Sheep and the Beast of Mossy Bottom in France and Poland.” Maarten: “Strawberry Shortcake and Teletubbies will remain at the forefront, targeting key markets in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Peanuts, fresh off an incredible 75th year, enters 2026 with significant momentum. Paramount’s powerhouse portfolio remains integral to our licensing slate, while Hasbro and Spin Master’s franchises will also continue to captivate audiences. Notably, Fugglers is building significant retail traction and buzz worldwide. Our global representation of Playmobil and Supercell’s The World of Clash and Brawl Stars continues to inspire innovative licensing collaborations. Our long-standing partnerships with Amazon MGM Studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment and SEGA continue to be key drivers, with SEGA’s juggernaut franchise Sonic the Hedgehog turning 35 this year.” Alison: “We remain firmly focused on driving the growth of our two flagship brands, Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, building on a strong 2025 and maintaining momentum across key markets. To support this trajectory, we’re investing in digital content appealing to our global fanbase, alongside multiple new design packs shaped around seasonal moments, brand themes and trend-led product opportunities.” Charlotte: “SpongeBob will continue to be a major focus off the back of The SpongeBob Movie: The Search for SquarePants. PAW Patrol also has many big moments in the year ahead with PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie coming. Avatar: The Last Airbender remains a key focus for us. South Park also continues to grow as we gear up to its 30th anniversary in 2027 and we’re marking 60 years of Star Trek this year with special collaborations to celebrate the iconic franchise.” LICENSING SOURCE BOOK 2026

INDUSTRY ROUNDTABLE
What are the key challenges facing your business and the licensing industry in general in 2026? Charlotte: “One of the biggest challenges is the sheer level of competition and the fragmented way consumers are engaging with content. Kids are burning through shows faster than ever, and trends come and go at lightning speed. That makes it tough for consumer products to keep pace. If we’re not reactive enough, we risk missing demand.” Maarten: “The licensing industry faces several significant challenges, including licensor consolidation - particularly in Hollywood - geopolitical uncertainty and the continued shift towards social media platforms. In this environment, speed is of the essence. Navigating these complexities requires agility, strategic foresight and a willingness to embrace change.” Sissel: “A consistent challenge remains balancing supply and demand, especially during peak periods, alongside wider global logistics pressures. Maintaining cultural relevance for heritage brands also requires continual innovation.” Sally: “Economic uncertainty continues to influence almost every decision in our space. Pricing sensitivity affects consumer behaviour, and that has a knock-on effect for what retailers buy and how wide they’re willing to range. It naturally leads to a more cautious market that prioritises proven brands with clear rateof-sale history. Another challenge is attention. Consumers have more content, more platforms and more noise than ever. Cutting through requires strong storytelling, genuine emotional connection and a clear point of difference.”
Below: The M&S x Wallace & Gromit kids’ apparel range launched in December 2025, showcasing the refreshed brand direction.
And what are the positives? Sissel: “The positives are strong: demand for authentic, values-led brands continues to grow, and the industry’s shift toward integrated 360° brand ecosystems creates more opportunities to connect audiences across retail, content, experiences and digital.” Alison: “One of the most encouraging developments across licensing has been the strong resonance consumer products are having with Gen Z audiences. This demographic continues to demonstrate both enthusiasm and spending power, often purchasing full product ranges from the brands they are most engaged with. Their interest has allowed us to take our brands in fresh and exciting creative directions, many of which we are actively expanding as we move into 2026.” Charlotte: “One of the most exciting trends is how licensing is driving footfall and creating real experiences in retail. Last year, we celebrated SpongeBob SquarePants’ 25th anniversary by bringing Bikini Bottom to life in Primark cafés across Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester - a standout example of how branded activations can transform everyday spaces. “Activations like these bring brands to life and give consumers a reason to visit, interact and share the experience. It’s really exciting to see this happen at retail.”
What trends should we be on the lookout for in 2026? Charlotte: “Eco-friendly licensing is gaining momentum as parents look for sustainable choices think recyclable packaging and circular product lines. Brands that embrace this are seeing growing demand at retail.” Rafa: “We’re seeing strong momentum in categories like food and beverage, where beloved characters are finding their way into everyday life, as well as a growing appetite for heritage and legacy IPs that are being reimagined for new generations. Collectables such as blind boxes, limited editions and personalised products are also proving very popular.” Maarten: “In 2026, it’s important to look beyond traditional IP

How do you see the retail landscape for licensed products in 2026? Do you see new opportunities opening up? Rafa: “We see tremendous growth potential in experiential strategies for 2026. Experiences - whether immersive retail, pop-ups, interactive activations, or our world-class theme parks - are powerful drivers of engagement. They deepen consumer connection with our franchises and allow fans to connect with our brands on a deeper level.” Alison: “With global retailers such as MINISO and Pop Mart continuing their rapid expansion beyond Asia and with personalisation, collectables and the kawaii aesthetic continuing to resonate strongly with Gen Z, we’re optimistic about replicating the traction we’ve achieved across Asia in the UK market too.”
How do you view AI - friend or foe to the licensing industry? Sally: “Very much a friend. Creativity will always be the human magic at the heart of our industry, and AI doesn’t replace that - it simply helps unlock it faster. We’ve spent the year upskilling our teams and building AI into our ways of working, and it’s already proving to be a real catalyst. It sharpens our insight, speeds up our processes and gives us more space to focus on the thinking, planning and storytelling that drive great franchises.” Sissel: “AI is a useful tool that needs to be applied strategically and responsibly. It can support efficiencies, insights and creative development, but it cannot replace the emotional storytelling and brand authenticity at the heart of licensing. Used well, it can be a friend that enhances rather than replaces human creativity.” Maarten: “AI is a reality that we need to embrace as a friend, not a foe. The key is to find ways to harness technology and its evolution to enhance our business, rather than focusing solely on cost reduction. AI offers potential for innovation, efficiency and new forms of creativity and engagement.”
origins and consider where consumers are spending their time and attention. The brands that tap into new platforms and communities will be best positioned to capture emerging opportunities.” Below: Teletubbies made significant strides for WildBrain thanks to dynamic collaborations in Asia-Pacific.
Can the global licensing industry enjoy a year of growth in 2026 in your view? Charlotte: “Absolutely, the outlook for 2026 is very positive. The content slate is packed with incredible IP, which creates huge opportunities for licensing. With so many strong franchises delivering fresh content, there’s every reason to expect growth across the industry next year.” Sally: “Yes, I believe it can. In uncertain climates, people continue to turn to entertainment, storytelling and trusted brands for comfort and connection. The slate for 2026 is incredibly strong and that creates real commercial opportunity.” Sissel: “Yes, absolutely. With strong consumer appetite for meaningful brands, continued growth in lifestyle categories and renewed investment in experiential and digital spaces, there is significant potential for the industry to achieve another year of growth.” Alison: “Absolutely. Success in 2026 will come down to having a clear, well-defined brand strategy and remaining disciplined in executing it.”
Finally, what’s your hot tip for 2026? Rafa: “Stay nimble and watch for the unexpected.” Sally: “Choose partners who share your belief in the brand. When a partner genuinely understands and loves the IP, everything becomes easier.” Sissel: “Consumers increasingly expect purpose behind products. Licensors who prioritise sustainability, inclusivity and emotional storytelling in partnerships will see the strongest results.” Maarten: “The most exciting opportunities aren’t always right in front of you - they often require a fresh perspective and a willingness to explore new avenues.” Alison: “Remain true to your brand as a licensor. Avoid being swayed by the strategies or successes of competitor IPs, as every property is unique.” Charlotte: “Don’t miss PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie! It’s going to be a major moment for families and fans alike.”

f there is one name from the world of retail which has firmly entered the consciousness of the licensing industry and consumers alike over the past few years, it’s MINISO. Founded in 2013, recent years have seen the brand – which has the philosophy that ‘Life is for Fun’ – build an interest-driven, content-led retail model, with a vision to become the world’s leading IP operation platform. As of June 2025, MINISO has entered 112 countries and regions, with more than 7,800 stores worldwide. A magic transformation The Oxford Street flagship is a vivid example of ‘store as billboard’ and how MINISO can turn a retail store into a cultural landmark. Using Harry Potter for what it describes as the “narrative foundation”, the brand reconstructed the store’s flow, merchandising and interaction to deliver an immersive experience. The façade and entrance were themed with house colour palettes and crest elements and inside it created a Platform 9¾ photo zone and a large-scale Hedwig display. Blind boxes, plush and figurines, drinkware, stationery, fragrance and accessories were arranged in zones themed as the four Hogwarts houses, guiding shoppers through a smooth progression from browsing to buying, with built in moments for capturing and sharing. A branded Harry Potter bus tour across the city extended the immersive feeling beyond the store to build broader citywide buzz and conversion.

L
icensing will continue to be a cornerstone of Toy Fair 2026, with character-driven ranges generating significant excitement throughout the show,” begins Rebecca DeemingMitchell, senior communications and events manager at the BTHA. “Following the recent successes of Minecraft, Lilo & Stitch, Peppa Pig’s new Evie launch, the anticipated releases of Wicked: For Good, plus several Disney launches, licensed products remain central to the wide variety of categories showcasing at Toy Fair. “With storytelling at the heart of play, licensed ranges are projected to expand across multiple categories, from plush and collectibles to learning toys, highlighting the essential role they play in driving consumer engagement and retail success.” Toy Fair – which takes place in the Grand, National and Upper West Halls of London Olympia from 2022 January – signals the kick off for the spring trade fair season for many in the licensing business. “Toy Fair acts as the first opportunity of the year for exhibitors to showcase their licensed ranges in front of buyers, retailers, inventors, media, influencers and the wider industry,” Rebecca continues. “For companies with licensed products, this early visibility helps build momentum for upcoming launches and builds connections within the industry.”
“
Rainbow Designs will be one of the companies taking to the show floor at Olympia. “Toy Fair is the first real opportunity to showcase our new lines and collections, and the event offers a great environment to meet with many of our major retail partners and licensors, connect with many of our independent retailers, and, of course, the opportunity to secure new business,” says sales and brand director, Zara Grindrod.
Product highlights and trends “Toy Fair 2026 will feature a line-up of licensed products from some of the industry’s leading names including Jazwares, Rainbow Designs, Funko, Tonies, The LEGO Group and more,” says the BTHA’s Rebecca. “Each will bring a fresh wave of creativity to the licensed space, unveiling new takes on muchloved characters inspired by major media moments and new releases. “There was a significant Asian influence across the licensed sector last year, with major hits like KPop Demon Hunters, Hello Kitty’s 60th anniversary and Pokémon remaining some of the biggest properties in the market.” Rebecca continues: “With Toy Story and a third Minions movie on the way, licensing is expected to thrive with immersive storytelling across multiple platforms and products that grow with children through play and learning. From collectable lines to audio storytelling and play-based experiences, licences continue to evolve - highlighting how families increasingly engage with their favourite characters in ever more meaningful ways.” LICENSING SOURCE BOOK 2026

“Rainbow is celebrating its 55th anniversary in 2026, and I believe the business has been exhibiting at Toy Fair since the 1980’s, so a good 40+ years. It’s a moment to reflect on our heritage, while looking forward to an exciting year ahead.” For Ashley Holman, director at ToyTopic, the show is “the ideal place to show off our new development and showcase our capabilities to existing partners, but also potential new ones. This will be our sixth year exhibiting and the ability to show and meet everyone in one place at one time is really beneficial.” ToyTopic will also be exhibiting for the first time this year at Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg. Taking place from 27-31 January, the show is marking its 75th anniversary. “We are eagerly awaiting the Spielwarenmesse; we want to make the 75th anniversary an unforgettable experience for everyone attending the fair,” says Christian Ulrich, executive board member at Spielwarenmesse eG. Licences are a “key driver” of innovation at the show and they can be found in almost all product groups, says Christian. “Demand for licensed themes is growing steadily, which is reflected in the ever-increasing variety and visibility at the trade fair. The range of exhibitors with licensing topics extends from international market leaders to specialised medium-sized companies and innovative newcomers. Anyone looking for specific brands or characters will find a convenient licence search in the online exhibitor directory.

“The LicenseLounge in the NCC West foyer is the central industry meeting place for anyone interested in licensing. Here, visitors can expect excellent networking opportunities and informative presentations on current trends and market figures in the LicenseTalks. Another highlight is the LicensePreview, where selected industry representatives gain exclusive insights into new licensing topics.” Spielwarenmesse is also continuing its partnership with Licensing International, working with the trade body to further develop the LicenseLounge and LicenseTalks. “Through this close cooperation, we are strengthening Spielwarenmesse as a central platform for the international licensing business and jointly setting new trends for the industry,” adds Christian. Both Rebecca and Christian are clear on their aims. “Every year, Toy Fair serves as a platform for the industry to grow, develop and most importantly, to connect,” says Rebecca. “Providing networking opportunities for all of our buyers, licensors, retailers, inventors, media attendees and more, we aim to foster three full days of invaluable collaboration.” Christian concludes: “Especially for this anniversary, we want to bring the unique atmosphere of the Spielwarenmesse to life and bring the global industry together in Nuremberg - with many unforgettable moments and valuable contacts for the future.” LICENSING SOURCE BOOK 2026

pring Fair 2026 represents a “major stepchange” for the show, explains Jackson Szabo, portfolio director. “There’s a real sense of purpose and pride across the team,” he tells LSB. “We’re deep into build planning for our new feature spaces, final exhibitor confirmations are coming in daily, pre-registrations are looking good and the appetite from the industry has been overwhelmingly positive. The team is excited, motivated and genuinely thrilled to showcase what we’ve been working on.” A key part of this will be a significantly expanded Licensing Lab for 2026 – bigger in terms of both footprint and ambition. Jackson continues: “Licensing is now central to product development across gifting, toys, home and fashion. The company will be launching its new homeware collaboration with Parisi, the lifestyle brand from husband and wife duo, Kelly Brook and Jeremy Parisi (with both of them being at the show on Sunday 1 February), as well as debuting a fresh multi brand, global product partnership with Sanderson and Morris & Co. Introduced last year, Jackson says that feedback for The Licensing Lab was “overwhelmingly positive”. He adds: “Exhibitors told us that Spring Fair connected them with buyers they wouldn’t normally meet. Buyers loved discovering licensed ranges in a retail-led environment. The appetite from both sides to build on the success was undeniable, which is why we’re investing in making The Licensing Lab a flagship feature, as well as highlighting designers and artists.” Jackson recommends that visitors research and plan ahead to maximise their time at the show (which runs from 1-4 February at the NEC). “Utilise resources such as the Little Black Book and the array of great features at www.springfair.com such as the Exhibitor List,” he says. “Licensed ranges will be highlighted across the whole show, including Gift, Beauty, Kids, Toys & Play and Fashion through spotlight displays, guided trails and exhibitor showcases, ensuring buyers can discover brands relevant to their sector.” LICENSING SOURCE BOOK 2026

Well over 650 companies are expected to fill the showfloor at the Jacob K Javits Center in New York from 14-17 February when Toy Fair once again takes over the city. ur team is energised and deeply focused. The run-up to Toy Fair always brings a special kind of energy - it feels a bit like our own FA Cup,” says Kimberly Carcone, executive vice president of global market events at The Toy Association, when LSB asks how the team behind New York Toy Fair is feeling as the countdown to the 2026 show continues. “Across product discovery, trend insight and education, the show continues to evolve in ways that reflect what businesses need most right now to succeed in a fast-changing landscape.” Toy Fair returns to the Jacob K. Javits Center from 14-17 February, with over 650 exhibiting companies representing every major category of toys, games and youth entertainment. This figure includes a good number of newcomers, as Kimberly explains: “We’re seeing a healthy mix of first-time exhibitors, from start-ups making their Toy Fair debut to international companies looking to expand into the US market. This presence will be centred around the show’s Launch Pad zone.” Interest from the retail community is also growing. “More than 1,300 global buying organisations have already opted in, with registration spanning 59 countries and including 19 of the top 25 toy retailers - a clear signal of how important Toy Fair remains as a global meeting point,” says Kimberly. The toy and licensing communities have always worked “hand in hand”, Kimberly continues, with licensed toys accounting for 37% of all US toy sales in 2025 (according to Circana).
“
“Licensed toys bring beloved characters and storytelling to life in ways that resonate across categories and demographics,” she says. “Toy Fair offers licensors and licensees an ideal environment to get a read on emerging properties, debut new programmes, strengthen partnerships and better understand how franchises are performing across categories.” Kimberly says that The Toy Association maintains an “ongoing, collaborative relationship” with Licensing International: “Our teams regularly exchange insights on trends and industry issues to ensure we serve the needs of licensors, licensees and brand owners attending the show and throughout the year.” Throughout the show, there will be in-booth activations, branded experiences throughout the event and dedicated educational programming that highlight the collaboration between the toy and licensing industries. “To date, we have two Toy Fair University sessions planned: Your Guide to Partnering with Key Players in the Toy Industry, plus New Licensees and What to Expect. Product showcases will also help show and debut many licensed products,” Kimberly adds. The Toy Foundation’s 2026 Toy of the Year Awards will also take place on Friday 13 February at Pier 60 in New York City, unveiling winners across 16 categories including licensed product. It’s set to be a packed show, and Kimberly and the team have clear aims: “To ensure every attendee leaves with new insight, stronger relationships and a clearer sense of where the market is heading.” LICENSING SOURCE BOOK 2026

flair The Bologna Children’s Book Fair remains a key international hub for children’s publishing and content, with a key part of this being focused on the licensing sector thanks to the Bologna Licensing Trade Fair. LSB finds out what’s being planned for this year’s event including the International Kids Licensing Days and the awards.
T
his year will once again see Bologna Licensing Trade Fair take up its unique position within global children’s content event, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. Taking place from 13-16 April, last year saw some 800 brands represented, with 60 international speakers for the seminar programme and 320+ matches between companies and designers for the licensing portfolio reviews. It’s a popular fair, and for good reason – the organisers say that its dedication to children’s, teens and young adult brands helps to distinguish it from broader licensing expos, while its positioning within the vibrant hub of the book fair gives it access to a wide range of visitors. To give you an idea of the potential here, BCBF 2025 attracted 33,000+ visitors to BolognaFiere, while there were over 1,500 exhibitors and 95+ countries represented. Having debuted last year, the matchmaking service is back – in 2025, the platform enabled companies and professionals to hold more than 1,700 meetings. Big news, meanwhile, is the introduction of a dedicated Toy Zone. In addition to the exhibition space, the Licensing Business Lounge also offers a space where licensors, agencies and service providers can book a table to hold meetings.
Inset: A dedicated Toy Zone will be joining the show floor this year. Below: In 2025, over 60 international speakers were part of the seminar programme.
For all those working in licensing and for those operating within the children’s content business in general, the BLTF/Kids organises the International Kids Licensing Days (IKLD) every year, three days of in-depth discussions with the main international key players, on the most relevant topics related to content for children and young adults, from licensing to publishing, from audiovisual to gaming and more. The conference programme is organised in cooperation with Licensing Magazine. In 2025, over 60 industry executives from around the globe shared their know-how, best practices, perspectives and strategies with attendees. Meanwhile, the Bologna Licensing Awards will return for the ninth year. Last year saw the introduction of a new Licensed Gaming category, which the organisers will look to further build on in 2026. For those who haven’t attended the show before, the Fair’s Cristina Angelucci offers this advice: “Explore the wide variety of exhibitors attending and the content showcased, and attend the intensive conference programme, in particular the International Kids Licensing & Media Days, where indepth interaction across the gaming, licensing, audiovisual, publishing, and toy industries is explored. Also, use the matchmaking platform to schedule meetings with the exhibitors attending.” Asked what her ultimate aim is for this year’s show, Cristina concludes: “To optimise the licensing companies' business not only within their own industry, but also by exploring all opportunities and interactions for their products and brands with the publishing, media, gaming and toy industries.” LICENSING SOURCE BOOK 2026

LICENSEE FEEDBACK
As we enter 2026, LSB asks a selection of licensees how they are looking to make the most of the first quarter of the new year from the upcoming trade shows to new product launches and beyond - and what would be their one wish for the year?
First up
Eda Gumush, commercial manager, Somerbond “As we head into 2026, Q1 is all about sharpening our licensing strategy - from making the most of key trade shows to driving momentum behind our new product launches. We’re also seeing emerging and trend-led IPs reshape how customers buy, and that’s directly influencing the types of licences we pursue and how quickly we respond to new opportunities. My one wish for the year is to build partnerships that are not only creatively exciting but truly future-focused, keeping us ahead of where the market is moving.” Above: Eda Gumush. Below: Ashley Holman.
Ashley Holman, md, ToyTopic “2026 is set to be the biggest and best yet for ToyTopic. The year starts with us exhibiting at Toy Fair, London and for the first time at Nuremberg toy fair which shows our plan for 2026 to grow further in Europe as a priority. We are also launching more new lines from our ever growing portfolio of brands, as well as two new product categories which will be unveiled at the shows, which is very exciting. One wish for the year is a sensible UK budget to prevail and then trading across UK and Europe to stabilise and find some consistency.”

Dan Grant, licensing director, Danilo “2026 will be an exciting year for licensing, with some really big movie launches throughout the year. I’m really looking forward to the Peaky Blinders movie in Q1, followed by a pipeline of family favourites through the summer including Super Mario Bros 2, Toy Story 5, Minions 3 and the PAW Patrol movie. The return of movies from Star Wars with the Mandalorian & Grogu, and Marvel with Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man will provide a big lift to these classic movie franchises. The new series of The Traitors launches on our TVs in Q1 and should be another big success for the show that has become a real favourite for so many people now. From a personal perspective, I am really looking forward to the FIFA World Cup in the summer and will be hoping that the England men’s team can finally bring home a winner’s trophy. If Spurs can win something, then surely England can too!”

Lisa Shand, md, Blueprint Collections “Blueprint's spring campaign is always an exciting one, with new product licensed launches and redesigns of our established collections. It is always great to see fresh new products on the shelves after the Christmas period. My wish for 2026 would be world peace and global Above: Lisa Shand. financial stability.”
Mel Beer, head of licensing (global), Solent Group “We will be working hard to bring NPD to market for later in the year. We’re expanding our product offering on Cath Kidston to include new categories and will be signing/announcing new franchises for Q3/Q4 26 bag launches. I’m also looking forward to catching up with industry colleagues at London Toy Fair and Spring Fair, as I continue to search for more new additions to our ever-increasing portfolio. My one wish for the year would be for the Chancellor to ease the cost of living pressures so that consumers have more disposable income to spend on our beautifully designed and crafted products.” Right: Mel Beer.
Jonathan Tillery, chief executive, William Lamb “As we step into 2026, the first quarter is really about setting ourselves up well. We’ll use the trade shows to reconnect with customers, share the new products we’re genuinely proud of like our partnership with Mr. Men Little Miss, and make sure our offer reflects what shoppers want - not what we wish they wanted. Q1 is also about discipline: cleaner stock, better planning and giving our teams the clarity they need to hit the ground running. It’s a chance to build confidence early in the year for our people, our partners and our customers. If we start strong, the rest tends to follow. Inset: Jonathan My one wish for the year? That Tillery. we stay united, happy and healthy, and keep pulling in the same direction. When a business has that kind of shared purpose, it shows - in the culture, in the work and in the results.”
Sandra Vanstan, head of licensing, William Lamb “Spring Fair is a great way to kick start the year, where we will be showcasing new licences (like our Mr. Men Little Miss collection), plus new product formats. My wish for the year is for even more opportunities for our fabulous team to keep expanding the creative possibilities with our licensing partners, and to surprise consumers with new concepts for the characters they love.” Above: Sandra Vanstan.
Above: Mr. Men Little Miss is a new addition to the William Lamb portfolio.
Ben Grant, cofounder, Rubber Road “We are kicking off 2026 by taking ‘TUBBZ on Tour’ as we reveal what’s in store for 2026 at Nuremberg, New York Toy Fair and LA Spring Previews for starters. 2025 saw us sell over five million TUBBZ; we’re bracing ourselves for a storming New Year and are already on track to double these sales for 2026. Q1 sees us celebrating new licence partners and characters including a huge rock god, legends from a massive, nostalgic TV show and duck tributes to a much anticipated animated movie coming later in the year. The piece-de-resistance, and what we are most excited for, is a whole new TUBBZ category coming in the summer. It’s been two years in the making and we know it’s a winner - my one wish for the year is for retailers, kidults and kids to agree.” Above: Ben Grant. Fran Hales, head of portfolio and marketing, Rubies “As we step into 2026, we are excited to make the most of the first quarter by energising our presence at key industry events, especially Toy Fair. Our one wish would be for dress up to be recognised as a key toy with significant play value and see further expansion across the toy aisles.”
Christine Roberts, head of licensing, Misirli “Q1 feels especially motivating with important licence anniversaries kicking off and continuing throughout the year. It has given us a great foundation for storytelling and has given us fresh product development which the team have loved utilising. We are introducing several new launches from recently signed properties, including our Cat in the Hat PJ with Sainsbury’s, which is perfectly timed to align with World Book Day and build excitement in the lead up to the film releasing in November. My one wish for 2026 is continued partnership and creativity across the industry, the kind of collaboration that truly elevates brands and product to create key moments in-store.” Inset: Christine Roberts.
Allana Holmes, commercial director, Hunter Price International “Following months of exclusive previews, we take our product playhouse on the road to bring our own brands and licensed partnerships to life on the trade show stage. We have a big brand approach to 2026 whether our own brands or global licence partners, our propositions go beyond the product itself to show potential retail partners how we can create and collaborate together to activate and excite. This year we have some really ambitious goals. We’ve advanced so much as a business, laid some great foundations last year and now we’re coming for some major new categories and the goal is growth across our existing and emerging territories.” Right: Allana Holmes.
Andy Downie, commercial director, Dreamtex “As we step into 2026 at Dreamtex, we’re focused on making the most of the first quarter by building on the momentum of a very busy Q4. The energy from seasonal launches to major blockbuster movie tie-ins has set us up for a steady and well-prepared start, and we’re ready to tackle the New Year with confidence. Q1 will be all about aligning our strategies with what promises to be a landmark year for content. With the World Cup, a new Minions movie and Toy Story 5 on the horizon, just to name a few, we see real opportunities to time our launches, build fresh narratives and drive engagement across our licences and product ranges. Our one wish for 2026 is that it becomes a year defined by exciting collaborations because when the industry works together, everyone grows faster.” Left: Andy Downie.

Allie Wilson, divisional sales director, Blues Group “Blues Group is starting 2026 on a positive note, with momentum building across our entire business. From baby, toddler daywear and nightwear through to ladies nightwear and dress up, every category has clear opportunities for growth as we move into Q1. Dress up remains a standout focus for us for early 2026 - especially as we gear up for Spring Fair - but what’s exciting is how well our wider apparel offering is aligning with retailer needs. We’re seeing a real appetite for newness across the board: fresher prints, sharper storytelling and more franchise-led product that ties seamlessly across age ranges and categories. With several major film launches and franchise moments landing in 2026, we’re expecting these to be key trade drivers - not just for dress up, but also for coordinated daywear and nightwear ranges that let retailers build connected stories in-store and online. This synergy across categories is where we see the biggest opportunity. My wish for 2026 is that retailers continue to back innovation and trust in the strength of fully joined-up design thinking. We know when we align creativity with consumer insight and franchise momentum, we can deliver cohesive, compelling product ranges across every part of the business.”
Jasmine North, licensing coordinator, TDP Textiles “For Q1 2026 we are excited for the launch of new products including changing robes and summer accessories in our ‘Swim & Beach’ ranges. We’re seeing an increase in destination buying, where buyers are wanting Above: Jasmine North. products that complement each other and where consumers are increasing their basket spend – which works well online in particular. Our one wish for 2026 would be that we can build on the back of successful movie releases, just like the Wicked phenomenon that we have seen in 2024 and 2025. We have many exciting movies to look forward to in 2026 from Disney, Marvel, Warner Bros., Paramount, Universal and Mattel.”
Rob Broadhurst, md, Brand Alliance “The first quarter of the year is always busy as we are finalising product ranges for launch in AW. Depending on the product type, there's often a scramble to get things confirmed pre-Chinese New Year - but this year we will be heading into it off the back of a crazy Q4 2025 as we launched KPop Demon Hunters in select retail channels. The sellthrough has been phenomenal so has helped increase the ranges for the phase two launch, which starts in January - so hopefully this continues through 2026. It's also toy fair season and, even on the softlines side, we find these really useful events for market research, trend and licensee/retail meetings so we try and make the most of those opportunities.”
Molly Perkins, brand and licensing manager, Wild “After an incredible 2025, we are carrying that growth and energy straight into the New Year. We have an exciting pipeline of licensing collaborations, fresh scents, new cases, NPD and a major product innovation that’s going to level up the Wild world all created to make sustainable personal care feel accessible, effective and something you’re genuinely excited to have in your bathroom. If we could have one Wild wish for the year, it would be to see even more people make the switch to refillable personal care and ditch single-use plastic in their daily routines. Every small swap adds up, and we’re proud to be one of the brands leading the way in driving that change.” Right: Molly Perkins.
Mark Searle, md, DK+ “We're kicking off 2026 with a bang. We have a major movie tie-in to announce and will be revealing exclusive content for our upcoming new LEGO Fiction range, too. We will be meeting with many of our licensing partners in London, New York and California for creative planning, not only for the year's big books, but new ideas for 2027 and beyond too - book publishing takes time and means we need to think ahead. DK will be attending Toy Fairs in New York, Nuremberg and other trade fairs internationally where we get inspiration for new brands, as well as insights on what kids are excited about. Each year in February we take over the British Film Institute to run our own showcase event, DK Presents, where we will announce our biggest books and newest licensing partnerships.” Right: Mark Searle.

The stage is set for a bold new act for LW Entertainment (LWE), formerly The Really Useful Group. Known for innovative, ground-breaking theatre all over the world, the company is broadening its strategy, extending Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musicals into entertainment franchises that reach far beyond the final curtain call. LSB finds out more.
L
W Entertainment waited for the perfect moment to step into its new identity, says chief commercial officer Libby Grant: “We wanted to use our rebrand to articulate the scale of our ambition, paying tribute to the incredible work that came before us.” With over $16bn generated in box office sales, 300 million tickets and 40 million albums sold, and performances staged in 148 countries in over 50 languages, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals are some of the most commercially successful entertainment brands in the world. In 2025 alone, over 4.5 million people across 28 countries saw a Lloyd Webber musical, with the global box office reaching over £400 million and music streamed over 300 million times. LWE’s rebrand signifies a new era of expansion with an ambition to deepen engagement with existing devotees and engage a whole new generation of fans. immersive and themed entertainment, a revitalised music distribution strategy and a new approach in book publishing, film and television, as well as an ambitious global consumer products programme. “Music and live performance remain at the heart of everything we do and we will continue to innovate and evolve what we do on stage. What we are doing is actively extending that storytelling,” Libby states. “This is a strategic move to drive success for generations to come across multiple touchpoints.” Working in partnership with the likes of Michael Harrison, Jamie Lloyd, Cameron Mackintosh and other world-leading producers, promoters and partners, the company’s theatrical slate keeps its brands firmly in the cultural spotlight. Recently, the multi-award-winning Sunset Boulevard in London and on Broadway, the Olivierwinning revival of Starlight Express in London and a new Evita have all been huge hits. Jesus Christ Superstar played a sell-out run at the Hollywood Bowl and a new Superstar in London was the fastest selling pre-sale in London Palladium history. Looking ahead, a new Cats production is coming to the UK capital next summer, followed by a major UK tour. Alongside ‘traditional’ stage productions sit reimagined versions designed to reach new audiences. For example,

Cats: The Jellicle Ball will bring ballroom culture to Broadway in 2026. “These new versions complement the originals, which are still very successful and integral to our global strategy,” says Libby. The largest of LWE’s titles, Phantom of the Opera, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026. To date, Phantom has played to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities, grossing c.$6 billion worldwide (adjusted for inflation) – putting it on a par with major movie and TV franchises. In 2026, Phantom will be live in more than 40 cities, including tours across North America and Asia and first of their kind Spanish-language tours in Spain and Latin America. Broadening the franchise, Masquerade, an entirely new immersive Phantom experience, is live in New York, while recent collaborations range from limited edition art prints by Studio MinaLima to a streetwear partnership with Palace Skateboards. Stepping into experiences beyond theatre, a hugely popular Phantom Afternoon Tea is live at Sofitel London St James, with plans for global expansion. Furthermore, a new worldwide publishing programme with Penguin Random House will launch in 2026, beginning with Our Strange Duet, a Young Adult reimagining by bestselling author Erin A. Craig focusing on the female lead, Christine Daaé; a coffee table book and three Little Golden Books will follow. LW Entertainment is also working with Qubic Pictures to explore Phantom of the Opera anime. To extend its franchises into products, LW Entertainment has hired Kerry Fox-Long, formerly of Warner Bros. Discovery,
as global head of consumer products. Since her arrival, Merchantwise has been appointed to spearhead a global multi-IP licensing programme across the UK, Europe, China and Australia. Event Merchandising is engaged in managing owned and operated e-commerce store channels, and LWE is exploring physical retail stores. “With Phantom’s 40th celebrations as the cornerstone, we’re partnering with Merchantwise to activate an exciting roadmap of consumer products to take our franchises from stage to shelf, including global retail partnerships in fashion, lifestyle and collectable categories,” says Kerry. “The breadth of the portfolio, with strong appeal across ages (for example, over 500k children watched or participated in an ALW musical at school in 2025), means we offer a multi-generational retail opportunity.” A refreshed music distribution strategy is also driving engagement. The company has seen yearon-year streaming growth of 30%, fuelled by new recordings from artists such as Rachel Zegler and Adam Lambert, influencer mashups and a focus on vinyl. The recent appointment of The Other Songs and The Orchard to manage and distribute Andrew Lloyd Webber’s catalogue will see the company step into a new era musically. “None of this is about short-term, quick wins,” Libby concludes. “We’re building a long-term cross-category strategy that ensures Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals resonate for generations to come. This is an exciting moment for us and our partners as we unlock huge opportunities across a portfolio of truly global, iconic titles with multi-generational appeal.”

renaissance While no stranger to licensing as a licensee, the greeting card, wrap and partyware company UK Greetings made a stand on its status as a licensor at last year’s BLE, with retailers and licensees clamouring to learn more about the relaunch of Bubblegum as a licensing brand as well as expansion plans for its Boofle brand’s pawprint. LSB travels back in time and then into the future with Ben Whittington, UKG’s creative director of licensing, character and humour to talk all things Bubblegum.
O
asis isn’t the only brand who believes the time is right for a relaunch!” joked UKG’s Ben Whittington, standing in front of an impressive display of various incarnations of Bubblegum branded merchandise on a prominently positioned stand at BLE last October. Ben can definitely lay claim to ‘been there, done that, got the t-shirt’ on the Bubblegum front, having ‘done’ work experience at UKG’s design studio when the brand was making its debut as a greeting card phenomenon back in 1996.
58
LICENSING SOURCE BOOK 2026
Now though, Ben is set to add some new t-shirts to his wardrobe, thanks to the suite of style guides that have been developed for the brand, appealing to different demographics that have already caught the attention of retailers and licensees. The first time round, in the late 90s/early noughties, Bubblegum was a greeting card gamechanger for UKG and its retail stockists, with Clintons (the leading specialist chain at the time) reporting stampedes of youngsters in its stores, all keen to get their hands on the Groovy Chick, Cool Dude, Hunny Bunny and Footie Mad products. The winning combination of quirky characters with outsized heads, statement slogans and block colour backgrounds broke new ground, igniting a following which saw the brand notch up sales of £350 million, and that was in 30 years ago money. Ben has fond memories of Bubblegum the first time around, but he is even more excited by the potential of the relaunch as an all-encompassing

lifestyle brand. And while greeting cards will feature in the plan, this time round it is the licensing programme that is taking the lead, with the mission of seeing Bubblegum’s renaissance on all manner of consumer products, from fashion to homewares, stationery to comestibles. “Bubblegum was sunset in the early 2010s, giving it time to rest. Little over a year ago we started exploring what it would look like if we were to relaunch the brand,” reveals Ben, who wasted no time in getting in touch with Phil Renshaw, cocreator of the brand to bring him on board for the relaunch. While recognising the power of a nostalgic pull for Bubblegum, the UKG licensing team wanted to ensure that the brand would resonate with a whole new breed of consumers, instigating a series of consumer focus groups to gauge reactions to the brand as well as the different design treatments. As Ben sums up: “Licensed merchandise is all about selfexpression,” so the UKG team set about creating different looks that would ‘speak’ to different demographics. The resultant six style guides span different looks and accompanying

messaging to appeal to distinct groups, ranging from those who experienced the brand first time round who may have moved on from seeing themselves as Groovy Chick, but still may see themselves as a Top Hun, those into anything ‘vintage’, through to the more Gothic-inclined, as well as Gen Z, with all aesthetics enhanced by sprinklings of popular culture tenets. “The Kooky Spooks look, for example has been crafted to appeal to the growing group who have a fascination for the gothic, magical and mystical while Be Kind is all about positive messaging of friendship bracelets and bubble tea that mirrors Taylor Swift’s following,” says Ben. While still early days, gauging by the positive response received at BLE it will not be long before we see Bubblegum being re-inflated in retailers’ stores on all manner of products before too long.
Right: UKG has published a Boofle children’s book. Below: Some products which demonstrate how well suited the Boofle brand is for the nursery and preschool sector.
Puppy love While the Bubblegum brand has been resting from the limelight for 15 years, UKG’s Boofle brand, which was also showcased at BLE, not only enjoys success in the card racks, it already has a licensing programme, which is now set for further expansion. Now being nurtured by UKG’s new licensing business unit, which is also managing the licensing for Bubblegum, fresh new looks and ideas will translate the loveable pup onto more clothing, footwear, toys, publishing as well as other product areas.

Backed by over 130 years of heritage, William Lamb has earned its place as the licensed footwear and bag supplier of choice for some of the UK’s largest retailers. Now, with new leadership bringing renewed purpose and a clear vision for what comes next, the Yorkshirebased business is stepping confidently into its next chapter.

ounded in 1887 as a manufacturer of clogs for miners, William Lamb has evolved into one of the UK’s leading specialists in licensed footwear and accessories. Today, the family-owned business combines deep heritage with modern commercial agility – something that becomes instantly clear the moment you step inside its Wakefield headquarters. Behind the Victorian façade lies a 50,000 sq ft operation humming with creativity and expertise. The building – used continuously by the company since the 19th century – is a maze of studios, offices and showrooms, as well as home to a vast warehouse. There is even a small museum, showcasing product innovation from across its long history, from early workwear to today’s characterled kids’ collections. What’s also surprising is that many of the people working there are from generations of the same families. “Over 65% of our team have been with us more than 15 years,” points out head of licensing Sandra Vanstan. “Family, people, authenticity and

You can feel it in the building and in the relationships we have with our customers and licensors.” For decades, William Lamb has kept a low public profile. “We haven’t felt the need to put our heads above the parapet and say hi,” says Sandra. “We have a simple business formula: we make great product, make it properly and on time, and if anything goes amiss, we put it right.” Because of that, the company enjoys solid relationships with some of the biggest names in retail including Next, Tu, F&F, Barbour, Clarks and MiniBoden, and has a trophy cabinet full of design and licensing awards that it has accrued over the past 20 years. However, the appointment in June 2025 of new ceo Jonathan Tillery, who has brought with him substantial retail experience from George at Asda, Primark, TK Maxx and more, has injected fresh momentum into the business, prompting the team to step forward and celebrate what has long made the company successful.

“Retail cycles have accelerated, compliance expectations have risen and demand for instant, impactful licensed product has never been higher. That’s exciting, because that’s what we do,” Jonathan explains. “The biggest shift is supporting the growth of our online customers. That means investing in more licences, more options and flexible call-off solutions.” The strategy is paying off. “We’ve had real success expanding our accessories range,” Jonathan continues. “Where e-commerce partners might once have taken only backpacks, they’re now taking fashion bags, water bottles and trialling footwear. Many now take our licensed wellies, slippers and back-to-school shoes.” Design remains one of William Lamb’s strongest differentiators. The company’s in-house designers “live and breathe trends”, working closely with buyers to build ranges that feel both commercially sharp and brand-authentic. Designers are grouped by customer and product type to ensure a deep understanding of each retailer’s shopper, while a team of technical specialists provides support on more complex constructions. It is this combination of creativity and rigour that has cemented the company as a go-to licensee for global names such as Disney, Mattel and Hasbro. When it comes to selecting licences, a measured approach is central to the company’s success; there’s no scatter-gun brand slapping here. Instead, the company focuses on highperforming IP, such as Bluey and Stitch, providing ‘good, better, best’ options for different price points. silhouettes bring characters to life in ways that feel fresh, accessible and true to brand DNA. Concentrating on popular characters doesn’t mean the company is risk-averse. “We exist to serve our customers,” Jonathan notes. “If someone asks for something different, such as a K-pop licence, we’ll find a way to do it. But we’ll do it in a way that is distinctive and has longevity.” A major part of William Lamb’s value for retail partners is its ability to provide an end-to-end service, covering everything from creative development and sampling to production and delivery. On-the-ground teams in India, China and Vietnam ensure consistency and ethical oversight, and the business works only with factories that meet stringent international standards. As for the future, Sandra promises “new licences and new products are always just around the corner.” The team also sees potential in the fastgrowing kidult segment, where nostalgialed licences are increasingly resonating with adult consumers. But whatever opportunities lie ahead, the company is perfectly placed to capitalise on them. “As a family-owned company without shareholders, and in good financial health, we’re able to be agile and try new things,” states Jonathan. “At a time when retailers are having to cut overheads, I’m happy to invest in people. We have strong financial acumen, incredibly creative designers, experienced teams – plus, we’re passionate about what we do. All that makes us the perfect one-stop shop within our shoe and bag specialisms.” LICENSING SOURCE BOOK 2026

W
hen Moshi Monsters first launched in 2008, the London-based digital entertainment company Mind Candy tapped into something special. The game quickly exploded into a global phenomenon: by 2011, half of all children aged 6–12 in the UK and Australia were playing, and one in three in the United States. Worldwide, more than 100 million players adopted monsters, solved puzzles and collected the adorable Moshlings. The brand dominated toy aisles too, becoming the most licensed kids’ property in the UK with 90 million figurines and 170 million trading cards sold. Now, as the brand approaches its 20th anniversary, Mind Candy is preparing a relaunch designed with scale, vision and a clear

understanding of today’s media landscape. The new Moshi Monsters will be a gaming experience merging the nostalgia and emotional pull of the original with new features and new ways to play for modern kids. Mind Candy has revealed it will be launching Moshi Monsters on mobile for the first time, with players able to seamlessly play on the go on phone or tablet, and at home on PC, with progress saved across devices. elements of the original, the game will also include new playable characters, new missions, minigames, Moshlings and locations to explore. To support the relaunch, Mind Candy has appointed Reg&Partners as the brand’s European licensing agent. The agency is already building momentum behind the scenes. Managing partner Chris Wilson sees enormous potential ahead: “Moshi Monsters is a global IP with a ready-made character universe. It’s instantly recognisable with an existing fanbase in the millions across the UK, Europe and the US. We are delighted to work with Mind Candy during the relaunch and there are some hugely exciting plans ahead.” According to Reg&Partners’ partnerships consultant Eloise Bradley, industry interest is strong: “The great thing is that everyone we speak to already knows the brand. They can remember the hype around Moshi Monsters the first time. That is why this is such an exciting relaunch. We’re speaking to two distinct audiences at once. On one side, we have our original fanbase - now aged 18 to 30 - who grew up with Moshi as part of their childhood social life. They’re Millennials and Gen Z, digital natives scattered across the UK, Europe, the US and Australia, and they’re driving the huge nostalgia wave we’re seeing on TikTok, Instagram and Reddit. They also have more disposable income than they did as kids, and they’re actively seeking out merch, collectables and nostalgia-driven drops.” Eloise continues: “Then we have today’s 612 year olds - the next generation of fans who are incredibly mobile-first, consuming content on YouTube, TV and mobile games, and heavily influenced by their peers. Their purchasing power may be indirect, but parents and relatives are ready to buy into the toys, game passes, merch and collectables that connect with what their kids love. Together, these two audiences give Moshi a truly rare opportunity: nostalgia meeting discovery, all at the same time.” The diverse audience appeal creates wide licensing potential: from toys, games and publishing for young fans to fashion, collectables and nostalgia-driven merchandise for adults. The Moshi characters lend themselves naturally to

collectables, rarity culture and drops; perfect for today’s retail landscape. With influencer partnerships, paid media, trade PR, social cross-promotion and physical activations planned for 2027, the brand is gearing up for a large-scale, co-ordinated comeback. Chris sums up by saying: “It really is going to be a busy 2026 as we gear up for the relaunch in 2027. This is going to be a really big opportunity and we’d love to hear from anyone who wants to be involved.”
The return of an icon Ross Macleod, chief commercial officer at Mind Candy, says: “We’re delighted to be relaunching the Moshi Monsters franchise. This sees us bring the beloved virtual world back to PC and onto mobile for the first time. As online safe spaces for kids become increasingly scarce, we see Moshi Monsters as the antidote for the brain-rot generation, offering a truly safe, fun and exciting alternative which kids, parents and our 100 million plus legacy fans will love. “Moshi Monsters has always been more than a game. It’s a BAFTA-award winning world of beloved characters which remain universally known and iconic today. With a gold album, film, number one magazine and more than $1 billion in retail sales, the richness of its IP is proven to naturally extend. As with the original, our approach will be 360, encompassing game, animation, music and merchandise. We're excited to talk to partners who want to be a part of the coolest thing to come out of the UK over the next 10 years.” LICENSING SOURCE BOOK 2026

Mattel’s Hot Wheels has a passionate global fan base that spans kids, families and a rapidly growing adult community. Under Mattel’s evolving consumer products strategy, the brand is accelerating far beyond the toy aisle and into culture, fashion and lifestyle. LSB finds out more.
H
ot Wheels has been at the forefront of vehicle play for 55 years, with the iconic cars and orange track a feature of childhoods across the globe. “Few brands can claim over five decades of cultural impact while still feeling as relevant today as Hot Wheels does,” says Mara Verze, head of consumer products UK & Ireland at Mattel. “Hot Wheels stands out because it’s a global icon with real emotional resonance.” Mattel’s focus for Hot Wheels - as with all of its portfolio - is on expanding beyond the toy aisle. “We’re very deliberately positioning Hot Wheels as a cultural and lifestyle brand, one that resonates across generations and passions, from fashion collaborations with the likes of the Sidemen, Maje, Zara, and H&M to collectables Right: The iconic orange Hot designed by companies such Wheels track has been entertaining as Gucci,” says Mara. kids for over five decades. This ambition has already translated into a diverse slate of partnerships. Over the past year, Mattel has successfully extended Hot Wheels into fashion and retail environments with collaborations with

PUMA, Marks & Spencer, Panini and Tonies as standout examples. “What’s really stood out is how these partners have embraced the visual heritage and iconic vehicles of Hot Wheels as genuine creative inspiration, hiding easter eggs throughout the designs,” says Mara. “Whether it’s through bold graphics, colour palettes or storytelling rooted in automotive culture, that depth of collaboration resonates strongly with UK consumers and reinforces Hot Wheels as a brand with real cultural relevance across generations.” Balancing that heritage with a modern outlook is a key consideration when selecting licensing partners. With more than 55 years of history behind it, Hot Wheels draws strength from nostalgia. “Balancing nostalgia and innovation sits at the heart of how we approach our brands at Mattel,” says Mara.

“As a company that is proudly 80 years young, longevity comes from continually evolving while staying grounded in what made you iconic in the first place.” For Hot Wheels, that means respecting the legacy of “the iconic cars, the orange track, the history of racing and performance” while encouraging partners to reinterpret those elements in fresh and unexpected ways. “Innovation might come through new materials, new categories, new technologies or new cultural spaces,” Mara adds, emphasising that heritage should act as a creative foundation rather than a constraint. Looking ahead to 2026, the focus remains firmly on strategic, design-led partnerships that push Hot Wheels into new territories. While specifics are under wraps, Mara hints at what’s to come: “Fans can expect to see more collaborations that sit at the intersection of fashion, collectables, automotive culture and entertainment.” Premium experiences will also play a larger role, designed to deepen engagement with core fans while attracting new audiences. In terms of growth, Mara picks out the adult fan segment as a key area. “Our adult fans continue to show huge appetite for Inset: Maje taps into the premium products, growing adult fan space collectables and lifestyle with its 2025 collection. collaborations.”
From a category perspective, Mattel is focused on expanding further into fashion, home, outdoor and publishing. Live experiences such as the Hot Wheels Stunt Show and Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live are important too, playing a key role in building brand engagement with UK audiences beyond retail. Geographically, the UK remains a strategically important and highly influential territory for Hot Wheels. “It’s a market where trends are shaped, partnerships can scale internationally, and fans are deeply engaged across generations,” comments Mara. “That makes the UK an ideal platform for launching locally relevant collaborations and activations that can then travel more widely across EMEA and beyond,” she adds. What excites Mara most about Hot Wheels is the huge amounts of creative potential. “We’re seeing partners increasingly view Hot Wheels as a platform for storytelling, design and cultural expression,” she notes. “The future is about collaboration that feels bold, unexpected and authentic – partnerships that surprise fans while staying true to what makes Hot Wheels iconic. That combination of heritage, innovation and global passion makes this an incredibly exciting time for the brand and for everyone working with it.” Below: Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow-N-Fire tour continues into 2026.
New year, new truck Following the success of Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow-N-Fire tour in 2025, the tour continues in 2026 with a new truck: Rhinomite - the dynamite Rhino themed truck. “We are incredibly proud to continue expanding the award-winning Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live with Family Entertainment Live,” says Julie Freeland, VP of global location based entertainment at Mattel. “The debut of Rhinomite brings even more excitement to the lineup which we can’t wait for fans to see. The Glow-N-Fire tour is an unforgettable experience full of action and energy that only Hot Wheels Monster Trucks can deliver.”

DIFFERENCE The founder of Ateliers Verts, an online retailer of luxury eco-conscious products, Andrew Levy also manages several sustainability-focused licensing projects for leading brands including Bang on the Door and Dready/Sista. Here, he tells LSB why eco-conscious licensing is more than a positioning statement – it’s a non-negotiable business principle.
E
stablished in 2019, Ateliers Verts has built its name on championing environmental awareness. “Every product sold on the platform is associated with a charity or good cause,” founder Andrew Levy explains. “We also donate at least 1% of our turnover to good causes for people and the planet.” It’s little wonder, then, that Andrew applies the same principles to his wider business dealings in the licensing space. “We choose to work only with licensors whose values genuinely align with ours,” he states. “That’s why partnerships with creators like Bang on the Door [Groovy Chick] and Dready Original [Dready & Sista] feel so natural. They care deeply about the climate crisis and environmental emergencies, just as we do. When that alignment is real, it becomes much easier to build responsible product ranges that consumers can trust.” The company’s licensing programme is intentionally curated, with every licensee required to meet defined eco-conscious criteria. “Our licensees work incredibly hard to source ecoconscious materials and packaging,” says Andrew. “But retailers also have sustainability demands, and sometimes that means elements of a product’s eco ambition get diluted. It’s not always the retailer’s fault – they’re responding to their own customers, and eco-consciousness isn’t always the top priority for shoppers. Price and design still lead. But if customers can see that genuine consideration has been made, they’re generally happier with their purchase.” This is exactly why Ateliers Verts keeps the pressure on internally. “The onus is on us as a
licensor and agency to insist that the brands are only licensed under strict eco criteria,” Andrew notes. “Sometimes revenue has to take second place, but we’ve been fortunate. Our apparel lines usually sell out quickly. When you pair strong brands with high-quality sustainable materials, the model can absolutely deliver financially.” For every purchase of its eco-conscious products, Ateliers Verts donates 1% of its turnover to 1% For The Planet, helping fund environmental projects worldwide. “Financially giving back is imperative,” Andrew emphasises. “Sustainability can’t just be something we talk about, it has to be something we actively support.” Consumers will soon see more of these principles in action. New Dready collector football-inspired t-shirts are launching at ClubFC, and fresh Groovy Chick apparel will arrive in Primark – both created with recycled materials and ecoconscious distribution and packaging. “We’re proving that sustainability and strong licensing can succeed together,” Andrew says. “But you have to stick to your principles.” www.ateliersverts.com andrew@ateliersverts.com

Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity’s (GOSH Charity) Neverland brand is unlocking new storytelling, live experiences and fundraising avenues to support groundbreaking research, child-centred facilities, cutting-edge medical equipment and vital support services for seriously ill children. LSB finds out more.
S
ince opening in 1852, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) has relied on charitable support to transform the lives of seriously ill children from across the UK. In 1929, author and playwright, JM Barrie gifted the rights of Peter Pan to GOSH. That wonderful gift has helped the Charity to fund nearly a century of care, treatment and research at the hospital. “Over the decades, we’ve raised a significant amount of money through royalties from Peter Pan,” comments Jenny Martin, senior partnerships development manager at GOSH Charity. “For every play performed and every book sold in the UK, GOSH Charity receives a royalty.” While the charity is bound never to reveal the sums raised, Jenny emphasises that every penny helps to fund GOSH Charity’s four pillars: groundbreaking research, cutting-edge medical equipment, child-centred facilities and support for families during the toughest moments of their lives.

In 2023, GOSH Charity launched an ambitious campaign to raise £300 million to help build a world-leading Children’s Cancer Centre. The centre aims to bring together pioneering research, cutting-edge treatments and holistic, child-centred care under one roof. This major appeal came on top of the charity’s ongoing need to fund the hospital’s most urgent needs. “It was around this time we realised there was a lot of untapped potential in the gift of Peter Pan that Barrie had given us,” says Jenny. Out of that realisation, Neverland was born: a new brand inspired by Barrie’s story and spirit. “We see it as a natural extension of his vision,” Jenny says. “If I could sum up Neverland in one sentence, it would be: a place where you will always be welcome, where your adventures are only limited by your imagination, and where being brave and kind will take you where you want to go.”

JM Barrie’s legacy
With such a beloved legacy attached, balancing commercial opportunity with cultural and emotional significance was essential. Jenny stresses that careful stewardship is at the heart of every decision. “With Neverland we have full control, so we choose partners who uphold the brand’s values,” she explains. “Adventure, imagination and childhood are the core themes. Anything we do must stay true to the original story and values.” One of the most exciting recent brand activations has been Neverland at Kenwood, an immersive outdoor light trail at London’s Kenwood House run over winter 2025. The idea grew from an indoor trail at Blenheim Palace in 2024, created with Culture Creative Limited. The success of that first partnership sparked new ambitions. “The Peter Pan story just lends itself beautifully to this kind of experience,” Jenny says. “We’ve been able to delve into the story and pull out some lovely emotive pieces.” Kenwood is just the beginning. The team plans to take the trail to more sites both in the UK and internationally and hopes to develop additional live events. “As a brand, it feels very natural for Neverland to embrace location-based experiences,” Jenny adds. Neverland’s expansion isn’t limited to the physical world. A new video game, developed by Second Star Games - the studio behind LEGO Star Wars - is currently in development to launch in 2027. “Second Star approached us and showed us what they could do, and we were blown away,” Jenny says. Inspired by Barrie’s original text, the game will introduce young players and families to the wonder of Neverland, featuring all the iconic characters, from the Darling children and the Lost Boys to Tiger Lily and
James Matthew (JM) Barrie, born in 1860 in the small Scottish town of Kirriemuir, grew up with a love of storytelling. Barrie wrote widely for both stage and page, but his most celebrated creation was a mischievous boy called Peter Pan. In 1902 Peter Pan made his debut in a chapter of The Little White Bird. From this brief appearance, the story blossomed into a play which premiered at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London on 27 December 1904. In 1911, Barrie expanded the play into the novel Peter & Wendy, bringing the full adventures of Neverland to children everywhere. But perhaps Barrie’s most extraordinary act came in 1929, when he gifted all rights to Peter Pan - both the play and the novel - to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). His intention was simple. The proceeds from every performance and every book sold would support the hospital’s care for seriously ill children. In 1988, this generosity was honoured with an amendment to the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act, granting GOSH the right to receive Peter Pan royalties in perpetuity in the UK. Thanks to Barrie’s remarkable gift, the magic of Neverland continues to change children’s lives nearly a century later.
Tinkerbell. Peter Pan will face his greatest trial yet against Captain Hook and the Jolly Roger crew. Publishing remains a natural extension for Neverland. GOSH Charity is working with partners to bring new books to market across 2026 and 2027, targeting readers aged eight to 12 while also appealing to older audiences. Beyond publishing, gaming and live experiences, Jenny believes gifting and infantwear offer substantial opportunity. A style guide is available which features core and infant palettes as well as product inspiration. The long-term ambition is clear: “We want to build a wholly-owned sustainable IP with long-term fundraising impact,” Jenny says. “New content, consumer products and live experiences will help Neverland grow so it can continue supporting the extraordinary legacy JM Barrie entrusted to us, and help raise vital funds to give seriously ill children the best chance, and best childhood possible.” LICENSING SOURCE BOOK 2026

T
he brand licensing industry is continuously evolving. Changes in ownership, business models and technology, alongside recent developments across global media and entertainment businesses, have highlighted how quickly priorities, structures and roles can change. Much of the industry conversation quite rightly focuses on commercial impact and strategic shifts.
Less often discussed is how people are navigating these changes personally. While change can bring opportunity, for some it can feel disorientating, particularly for those working independently, open to work or navigating transitions without the day-to-day support of peers. These moments often prompt reflection and important questions about direction, identity and role.
Meet the creators BOOST was co-created by Helen Lynch and Katie Rollings, both experienced commercial leaders with long-standing careers in retail and brand licensing. BOOST sits alongside their existing roles and businesses, not instead of them, and has been established directly from what they have seen and experienced across the industry. Helen brings more than two decades of senior commercial experience from the retail side, having worked across multiple UK retailers in buying and licensing leadership roles. She now supports brand owners, IP rights holders and licensees through her retail and brand licensing consultancy. Alongside this, Helen is a certified life and executive coach. Katie, meanwhile, brings over 20 years’ experience building and managing global children’s IP across senior roles at companies including Hasbro, eOne, HIT Entertainment, BBC and Acamar Films. She is currently consolidating her extensive leadership experience by training with Barefoot Coaching to be a personal and business coach. BOOST exists as a collective with a shared purpose to motivate, encourage and empower individuals to take control, explore new ideas, reframe challenge into opportunity and continue to thrive in their lives. PERSONAL WELLBEING
The power of connection Connection plays a powerful role in wellbeing, particularly during periods of uncertainty. Research from organisations including the Global Wellness Institute, McKinsey and Deloitte highlights the importance of social connection in supporting resilience, motivation and mental health, while also creating the conditions for greater energy, creativity and adaptability during change. BOOST is designed as a participatory space where people encourage each other, share ideas and explore possibilities together. It supports a growth mindset, helping individuals reframe challenges, stay curious and avoid becoming constrained by immediate obstacles. This shared sense of purpose and momentum sits at the centre of what BOOST offers. Below: BOOST focuses specifically BOOST combines encouragement with evidence-based insight. Regular content, shared on personal wellbeing, accessibility resources and research-led perspectives provide reassurance and clarity, while coaching and inclusion. expertise supports reflection, confidence and decision-making when people are considering new directions. Alongside digital engagement, BOOST offers free community Zoom catch ups, informal connection points and optional in-person events. Paid workshops and coaching are available for those who want deeper support. The pace of change across many aspects of our lives continues to accelerate, shaped by technology, automation and evolving ways of working. While this brings uncertainty, it is often where growth happens, creating opportunities to embrace new perspectives and explore different ways forward. BOOST encourages an active and intentional approach, helping people see themselves as agents of change rather than passive recipients of it. Motivation often comes from connection, and navigating change feels more manageable when it is shared. The licensing industry already benefits from a strong sense of community, with initiatives such as The Light Fund, Young Professionals Network and Products of Change playing an important role. BOOST complements this landscape by focusing specifically on personal wellbeing, accessibility and inclusion. It invites consideration of what more can be done to support those who may feel at the edges, whether due to cost, circumstance or confidence, and to enable staying engaged more easily.
This is where personal wellbeing and connection take on a different role, not simply as a response to difficulty, but as a way of engaging with change more positively and intentionally. In a relationship-led industry, staying connected matters. When those connections shift, even temporarily, people can feel unsure about where they fit, while still wanting to remain involved and engaged. Previous articles, backed by research findings, have explored the rapid growth of the global wellness economy and the opportunity this presents for brand licensing. Wellness is increasingly embedded in consumer behaviour, from everyday habits to lifestyle products and experiences, and is recognised as an area for innovation and growth. Alongside this sits a quieter, but equally important, conversation about personal wellbeing. As the industry continues to adapt, resilience, confidence and a sense of belonging are becoming more relevant for the people working behind the brands. This is less about fixing problems, and
more about creating space to reflect, reconnect and move forward with intention. Launched at Brand Licensing Europe in 2025, BOOST is, at its heart, a community-led connection hub, shaped by the people within it and the realities they are navigating. A LinkedIn community focused on personal wellbeing across intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions, BOOST brings people together through shared experiences and interests, while also spotlighting wellbeing brands, products and services that support everyday thriving. It is open to anyone, at any stage of their career, and is particularly relevant for those working independently, open to work, or seeking renewed connection and perspective. BOOST encourages forward momentum by helping individuals reflect on their strengths, recognise what has worked well in the past, and stay open to new directions. It offers a people-first, welcoming space that supports wellbeing, creativity and confidence, without pressure or expectation. LICENSING SOURCE BOOK 2026

LSB rounds up some of the latest activity. Fanatics speeds in with Max Verstappen deal
West Ham teams with OddBalls West Ham United and OddBalls have reached a licensing agreement which will see them collaborate on a wide range of men’s and women’s Clubbranded underwear. OddBalls will launch a full range of boxers, briefs and bralettes. All products launched will feature unique West Ham United branded designs which tie in with OddBalls’ colourful and unique products. Formed in 2014, OddBalls’ underwear products were designed to shake up the underwear market. During that time OddBalls has raised over £1 million for a wide range of charities, and each pair has a testicular cancer ‘Check Yourself Guide’ printed on the back of the pack. 10% of net sales from all West Ham United x OddBalls products sold will be donated to DT38, the charity which honours the life and legacy of Dylan Tombides, the West Ham United and Australian international footballer, who tragically passed away in 2014 at the age of 20 after a three-year battle with testicular cancer. In Dylan’s memory, the DT38 Foundation was established by his mother, Tracy, and the Tombides family.
Fanatics and four-time F1 world champion Max Verstappen have revealed an exclusive multi-year global partnership focused on ecommerce, licensed sports merchandise and trading cards – the latter including autographs, inscriptions and race-worn relics. Fans in the Netherlands and around the world will be able to collect exclusive Verstappen trading cards and also shop for merchandise at a new global online Verstappen store, launching in early 2026. Verstappen will become the first active athlete to partner with Fanatics Commerce to open a global online store and will provide fans worldwide with faster access to Verstappen products and real-time, ondemand items tied to milestone performances and major race moments. Fanatics will launch a new global ecommerce destination at Verstappen.com with rights to design, manufacture and distribute a wide range of officially licensed Verstappen merchandise, including apparel, headwear, accessories and special product drops.
Formula E extends partnership with Hackett Sport Formula E has renewed its partnership with Hackett Sport for Season 12, meaning that the fashion brand will continue as the official apparel provider for the championship. The brand will supply uniforms for Formula E staff, while also providing its own brand activations throughout the season. Season 11 saw Formula E's global fanbase significantly expanded, reaching 422 million. The championship now boasts one of the most dedicated fanbases in motorsport, with 58% of fans categorised as ‘highly engaged’. “As Formula E expands its calendar to new, iconic destinations, it creates an unparalleled global business platform where the Hackett Sport brand can connect directly with our growing fanbase,” said Jeff Dodds, ceo at Formula E.

The European licensed sports merchandise and accessories company is definitely riding high currently. Clicking into place BRXLZ is FOCO’s own brand construction property which Paul simply describes as “phenomenal”. Predominantly sold through FOCO’s online platform – although there are also partnerships in place with Amazon and independent buying group, Toymaster - in 2025 the company achieved significant turnover in sales on BRXLZ. The concept began with mini stadiums, before moving into balls, larger stadiums, footballs, select club logos and shirts and, the latest addition, transport. “Moving into transport was the biggest significant thing we did in the last 18 months,” says Paul. One of the reasons behind the introduction of transport to the range – which includes club coaches as well as London taxis – was that new environmental regulations for a lot of the clubs mean that players now travel to away games in electric coaches, which have gathered something of a following from the fans. All of the Premier League clubs are represented across the BRXLZ range and each time a new stadium is built, this is added to the collection, although Paul points out that some of the original stadiums remain just as popular. “We sell as many Upton Parks as we do London Stadiums for West Ham due to the nostalgia value,” he says.

An initiative has begun with BRXLZ and Carrefour – after an initial trial in its Belgium stores, a promotion has recently launched across France for the national team as well as PSG and Olympique de Marseille. In Germany, the company works with clubs including Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Leverkusen and Hertha Berlin; in Spain, FOCO is the licensee for Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. It has also recently started working with Athletic Bilbao. “Our big headline categories are driving that new business and helping us to build the relationship with the clubs,” says Paul. There is still further growth to come from the UK market, too, with Paul saying there is a definite appetite from the grocers to activate more in the sports category. A partnership will begin this autumn/winter with a major retailer across Premier League teams, as well as many European football teams across the footwear and luggage categories for example. Paul concludes: “The key thing for us strategically is to build that European piece and build those retail partnerships. There are lots of avenues for further growth.” LICENSING SOURCE BOOK 2026

Industry Travel Experts
Exposé Travel – Your one-stop shop for all Licensing and related exhibitions worldwide. EXPOSÉ TRAVEL specialises in travel to licensing and related shows worldwide. We have been offering some very special rates for flights and hotels to the many exhibitions that take place in different parts of the world and work with small boutique licensing agencies and retailers right up to the biggest companies on the show floor. We are also the exclusive travel partner to the Max Group of Companies, owners of The Licensing Awards and Licensing Source Book, and LicensingSource.net. Dear Friends and Clients, First and foremost, may I wish all nominees in The Licensing Awards 2025 my congratulations and good luck for tonight! As the licensing sector’s specialist travel agent, you may have used my services, you may not have yet. I have been serving your fine industry for many decades now and am proud to look after so many of you whether it’s for your Licensing Expo travel, BLE, or other trips for shows and general travel. Why do people use me? Firstly, I know the shows. I’ve been to them, I know if a hotel really is a ‘5 minutes walk’ or not and which ones suit which type of traveller. I know that you don’t want to go to Las Vegas via Lithuania or Melbourne via Mexico.
Secondly, I am an independent, specialist travel consultant. I answer the phone… that means no messing around with call centres when changes happen. And we all know after the last few years that changes to travel are now commonplace. And that is why now, more than ever, I encourage you to use my services as a licensing industry specialist. You will speak to me, Paul, and I will be your personal point of contact at all times. Again, my best wishes for a superb evening and please do consider me your personal travel agent for the trips ahead. I deal with one-man companies right up to 100 person bookings for the biggest licensors. And if I can keep Ian, Jakki and Rob happy with their demanding requirements, I’m sure I can help you!
