s I head off to The Gift Awards each year, I inevitably say to my husband, “tonight we’re going to make a lot of people in the gift industry very happy!”
Well, on Thursday May 14th, I’m very delighted to say that we did. But what I didn’t know was that I was going to be among the winners this year!
Not for one nano-second did I expect to win The Gift Awards’ prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award, sponsored by the British Allied Trades Federation (BATF); but when I eventually twigged during the citation, delivered by Max Publishing’s co-founder and managing director Jakki Brown, I couldn’t quite take it in. Clearly there had been a lot of subterfuge behind the scenes, because I didn’t have an inkling!
Suddenly, after 28 years, it was me up there on stage, not only being presented with this very special industry award but also being asked to make an impromptu speech to some 400 industry peers at close to midnight!
lifetime and my career. Did I have a tear in my eye? Of course I did!
So now I know what it feels like to win a Greats/Gift of the Year trophy – the Outstanding Achievement Award is a joint accolade - and I can honestly say that I was on cloud 9 for days. So, don’t hold back when we announce the 2027 Greats awards this Autumn. It could be you up there on stage next year! I didn’t in a billion years think it would ever be me!

Alongside the signing event, Stacey was
also invited to be one of the early guests on the bookshop’s new after-hours podcast series which is due to launch later this year.
"Even visiting the bookshop would have been special, but to actually hold an event there and film for their new podcast felt incredibly surreal and something I don't think I'll ever forget,” Stacey highlighted. Commented Candlelight’s head of sales, Kate Winch: “This is a huge step forward. It gives us a fantastic platform to showcase our collections in a more inspiring and engaging way.”

Triple Marathon Woman Runs 78 Miles
Raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation was a chief motivator behind Longacre Garden Centres’ gift buyer Hannah Hazell’s decision to run a staggering three marathons – Brighton, Manchester and London - on consecutive Sundays, with Hannah completing them all and running 78 miles.
Her goal was to raise £4,000 for the charity, but with strong support from the gift and card industry, she achieved a staggering £6,512.
“It was an incredible experience filled with lots of amazing memories to last a lifetime,” enthused Hannah, “from the crowds cheering and shouting encouragement down to the many individuals who offered help and hope along the way. Finishing the final one in London was the most amazing overwhelming experience.”

Improving The Customer Experience
John Lewis To Invest £50m In Store Refurbishments
John Lewis is investing £50m this year across five stores as part of a programme to transform and elevate all 36 stores across its estate into retail destinations.
Customers in Glasgow, Cambridge, Leicester, Reading and Liverpool will benefit from this latest phase of investment, with Glasgow receiving more than £20m in a full redevelopment, the largest single-store investment made by the brand in recent years.
The refurbishments will bring new brands, elevated products and experiences with an environment that meets customers’ needs.
This investment is the latest acceleration of John Lewis’ wider £800m brand transformation, with every John Lewis store benefitting from investment designed to improve the customer experience and respond
to changing customer expectations, specifically, the growing demand for inspiration, expertise and cross-channel experience.
Peter Ruis, managing director of John Lewis, commented: “Whether customers shop with us online, in our shops or across both, they expect the same trusted advice, service and experience. These investments are about more than just a fresh look. They are about creating places where customers love to spend their time.”
Change in Ownership For Carte Blanche Group
Carte Blanche Group - best known for its Me To You and Hotchpotch London brands, alongside All Creatures plush - has confirmed a change in ownership following the long-term strategic intention of the existing majority shareholders, Steve Haines and Duncan Spence, to exit the business.
Incoming shareholder, Tom Morris, the founder and owner of Home Bargains, has acquired Steve and Duncan’s interests in the company as an investment only and will not assume any operational role or be involved in the day-to-day running of the business. His acquisition in Carte Blanche Group is a private investment and Carte Blanche remains a separate trading entity.
The company’s leadership team - ceo Alister Marchant, and financial director Rob Edgerton - will retain their shareholdings and remain in their positions, continuing to oversee all strategic, commercial and operational activity. Their ongoing involvement ensures stability, continuity and a consistent approach to serving customers and partners.
“This ownership transition reflects the desires of the exiting shareholders, Steve and Duncan,” confirms Alister Marchant. “It was very important that we found the right investor and, with Tom, we have a shared vision that we will work to make reality which secures the business, our people and our brands strongly for the future.”
He continues: “We have engaged with many customers and suppliers from across all channels in the business and are pleased to confirm their strong support for both the change in ownership and our continued direction.”

Investing In Young People
In a joint letter co-ordinated by the British Retail Consortium (BRC), industry leaders have warned that rising employment costs, increased regulation, and ongoing economic pressures are making it increasingly difficult for businesses to hire young people. The letter highlighted the urgent need for government intervention to prevent a deepening youth unemployment crisis and to safeguard vital entry-level job opportunities across the retail sector, with The Giftware Association (now the Home & Gift Association) joining more than 80 of the UK’s leading retail ceos in urging the Prime Minister to take immediate action.
“Our members are facing increasing pressure from rising costs and regulatory burdens, making it harder to recruit at entry level,” says the Association’s managing director Gemma Sault. “If we are to secure the future of our industry and the next generation of talent, we must ensure businesses are supported to hire, train and invest in young people.”

The London Home Fragrance Show Debuts
A Seminar Theatre Will Run Across Both Days
The UK’s first dedicated home fragrance trade event, The London Home Fragrance Show, organised by the Honegger Group, will be making its debut at Islington’s Business Design Centre on July 9 and July 10, the first event in the UK created exclusively for the home fragrance sector.
The show will offer buyers access to new product launches, premium international exhibitors as well as a comprehensive overview of the market to include packaging, private label solutions and fragranced focused services.
“Sourcing is becoming more selective, more intentional and more commercially demanding,” comments Rob Sherwood, joint ceo of Honegger. “Retailers and buyers in the home fragrance sector are under more pressure than ever to find products that sell and stand out. The London Home Fragrance Show exists for exactly this shift, giving buyers the chance to meet makers, understand products and source with confidence.”
Exhibitors, both established names and emerging creators, include: Stoneglow,
Ashleigh & Burwood, Millefiori Milano, Enesco, Maison Parfum, Voluspa and The Fragrance Foundation.
A free seminar theatre will run throughout the two days of the show, offering expert led sessions on market trends, sustainability, packaging innovation, and digital retail challenges. Topics include What’s Next for the Home Fragrance Industry?; Sustainability vs. Luxury; The Rise of British Home Fragrance; Sustainable Materials & Packaging and How to Sell Scent Online.
Among the speakers is PG&H’s editor, Sue Marks, who will be speaking about home fragrance trends for Autumn/Winter 2026.
Designed as a dedicated platform for the entire supply chain, the event will bring together brands, retailers, distributors, manufacturers, and suppliers.

Autumn Fair Reveals Speaker Line-Up
Autumn Fair (6-9 September, NEC), has unveiled details of its 2026 content programme, as well as the launch of a new Counter Talks Stage, a dedicated platform designed to tackle the issues, trends and commercial realities shaping independent retail.
The content offering has been built in response to the findings of the recently launched Voices of Retail 2026 report by Spring & Autumn Fair and Faire, which surveyed 650 independent retailers and more than 2,000 UK consumers to uncover what is driving growth on Britain’s high streets.
Speakers announced include: John Abbate, economic growth lead for high streets, Westminster City Council and online visual merchandising tutor, SDEA; Alison Battisby, founder, Avocado Social; Andrew Goodacre, ceo of the British Independent Retailers Association (BIRA), and superintendent Lisa Maslen, National Business Crime Centre, City of London Police; Steve Manners, UK managing director, Licensing International and Elyse McAvoy, industry & trends expert at Faire.
The programme will also feature sessions exploring the latest retail and consumer trends, AI, live shopping, retail data and brand storytelling, with contributions from industry leaders and Google-led workshops focused on helping retailers make better use of some of the most important digital tools now freely available to businesses of all sizes.
Autumn Fair’s popular Pitch Live competition will be returning to the show with a new morning timeslot, spotlighting emerging brands across Home & Gift; Fashion, Accessories & Jewellery and Kids, Toy, Play & Clothing.

Community Is A Key Retail Growth Driver
Spring & Autumn Fair, in partnership with Faire, has revealed new insights which highlight that community-building is emerging as one of the most powerful and underused growth drivers for independent retailers.
The findings, taken from the recently launched Voices of Retail 2026 report, show that 46% of consumers actively choose retailers that create a sense of community, while 89% of retailers who collaborate with other businesses report positive commercial impact, including increased footfall, stronger brand awareness and new customer acquisition. However, despite the proven benefits, just 23% of retailers are actively collaborating today.
“What’s really interesting in the data is that community-building doesn’t need to mean large budgets or complicated campaigns,” explains Charlotte Broadbent, UK general manager at Faire. “The retailers seeing success are often doing very simple things consistently well. It might be remembering customers by name, hosting a small monthly event, collaborating with another local business, or creating experiences that bring people together. Those moments create emotional connection, and emotional connection drives loyalty, advocacy and repeat visits.”
Content At Glee
Alongside Autumn Fair, co-located show Glee (September 8-10, NEC), will be launching an expanded content programme for 2026 focused on the future of garden retail, hospitality and operational growth.
Glee’s content offering will include the return of Centre Stage, featuring keynote sessions and industry discussions exploring topics including garden retail performance, operational productivity, sustainability, talent challenges and the role of data in modern retail.

At The Source
If one thing stands out about the past year, it’s the change in how gift indies are sourcing new products. While trade shows remain the prime source of finding the new best sellers, attended by 90% of survey responders, internet platforms, such as Faire, are gaining ground. The figure jumped to 62% in the recent Barometer (up 22% on the previous year), with sourcing from internet platforms moving up a significant five places in the Retail Barometer chart this year.
Adding to this, some 43% of those surveyed said that they had placed 20%-50% of their orders with suppliers online in the last year, with 62% confirming that, moving forward, they see their online ordering increasing further.
Staying with sourcing, sustainability too, remains important, with indies looking to source product from gift suppliers who set out their stall with clear statements. Across the board, respondents confirmed that, overall, the number of suppliers they order from will increase in 2026 (43%), with over half (57%) stating that that the number of suppliers they order from will remain about the same.
Expanding on the greeting card front is continuing apace for many gift retailers (70%). On the product front, greeting cards were among the top three categories highlighted as having a positive effect on sales over the past 12 months, with greeting cards once
Average Spend
Despite the ongoing cost of living crisis, 77% of respondents confirmed that the average spend had increased slightly or remained the same in the last year compared to the previous 12 months, with 5% reporting that their AVT increased significantly. However, almost a fifth of those who took part in the survey, (18%), said that it had declined.
again scoring highly as a product sector that gift retailers are looking to further expand this year (39%). However, interestingly, it was expansion into men’s gifts that topped the product chart, with some 44% of those surveyed looking to grow this product area this year.
On the downside, the biggest threat to gift indies was, overwhelmingly deemed as supermarkets, which are continuing to grow their gift and home offer. They were cited by almost all gift indies taking the survey as a major bugbear, closely followed by the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and labour costs.
Looking broadly across their business over the last year, over two thirds of respondents (68%) said that 2025 was better or the same as the year previous, compared to 88% last year.
On a positive front, almost a fifth, (18%), anticipate significant growth this year
their business remaining on a par with 2024 levels.
How did your business fare over the last year? PG&H looks back over seven years of Retail Barometer data. Some 68% of respondents said that their business had either improved or remained on a par in the last year compared to the previous year.
‘‘ I love how trade fairs are getting more educational. It’s great to hear inspirational stories and learn new skills as well as looking for new products. This side should be better promoted as not everyone appreciates that it’s such a valuable addition.
On The Upside
Which main factors had a positive effect on your business in the last year?
Unsurprisingly, over two thirds of those surveyed, (67%), highlighted new gift ranges and product diversification as having had the most positive effect in driving sales for their business in the last year, moving up two places on the previous year’s findings. In second place was the local competition closing down (50%), with greeting card expansion, and increased promotional activity, (up two places), tying in third place for a third of respondents (33%). For a quarter of those surveyed (25%), holding in-store events, especially at Christmas, along with online website activity, increased social media activity and an upsurge in new customers, helped to drive footfall.
Newcomers to the chart this year were the local competition closing down; greeting card expansion and holding in-store events. (Last yearÊs figures are shown in brackets)
1 New gift ranges and product diversification (3rd)
What main factors had a detrimental effect on your business in the last year?
All respondents concurred that the expansion of gift and home products in supermarkets affected sales last year. Added to that, over half (54%) cited increased labour costs and the cost-of-living crisis, with 50% of those surveyed highlighting increased energy costs, competition from the multiples, the expansion of gift and home products in garden centres, empty shops in the vicinity and charity shops selling gifts. A lower consumer spend too, impacted on sales for 43% of respondents while a third of those surveyed felt their sales were detrimentally affected by competitive websites.

Spring Seasons
How did Spring seasons trading fare this year compared to 2025?
While the timing of the Barometer did not include Father’s Day, the trio of Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Easter gave gift retailers three strong opportunities to refresh their displays, introduce new products and drive in-store and online promotions, with over half of respondents, (55%), confirming that trading across all occasions was better or the same as the previous year, although 45% revealed that it was worse.
With shoppers delighted to buy their mums a gift for Mother’s Day - regarded as the second most important gift giving occasion of the year next to Christmas - the occasion was the front-runner, with 55% of respondents confirming that the event generated an increase in gift sales. Some Valentine’s trailed in last place at 15%.

A Vision For Growth
It’s been a standout year for Morleys Group, marked by winning The Greats’ Best Department Store Retailer of Gifts award and welcoming new ceo, Ray Clacher, in January. Delivering a power talk at Spring Fair in February, Ray underscored the profitability of their layout. “Gifts, including home fragrance, is a key category for us, alongside cards, stationery, and wrap -they generate our highest sales per foot. When I first saw them occupying prime ground-floor real estate, I questioned it. But they truly earn their corn, and we're building on that momentum.”
stationery and Christmas, believes that what gives Morleys Group department stores their edge, what makes them a winner, is that they attract a very loyal customer. “They’re very local and we’re able to tailor the ranges to each individual store and customer base,” she explains. “It’s not one size fits all, so people won’t see the same products in every store.”
Added Ray: “Going forward we’re going to expand on this because gifts offer so many local opportunities. It's an enormously untapped opportunity in so many areas because gifts come into so many categories. You start talking about the Christmas shop and expand out from there. For example, food and beverage is something that we started in our Wimbledon store, Elys, only two years ago, and already it's taking up a third of one floor, which is about 10,000 square feet. Therefore, gift really is a huge growth area for us.”
Marianne Carter, buyer for gifts,
As Amanda Bell, buying director, home, adds: “The team treat each store differently, depending on demographics and customer profile. Product has to be right for the store and location. Some categories are more consistent across the Group while others have more local variations, to include price point, age range, and whether classic or contemporary works best. One exception is home fragrance which works well across all our stores.”
Leading brands include Stoneglow – the Group’s No. 1 best seller - Candlelight, Paddywax, Archipelago, Freckleface and Aery, as well as the high-end Baobab, which includes a candle that retails at £500.
“If you lit it for an hour every day it would last for a year!” says Marianne of the Baobab candle. The County Candle Company will soon be launching in many of its stores too, focusing on scents that reflect individual counties thereby making the fragrances very localised.

Customer loyalty is at the heart of the business. “We’re generating up to 70% loyal trade each week, depending on the store,” confirms Amanda. “Loyal customers spend more and visit more, and we want to continue to inspire them, giving them a reason to shop with us. They are always looking for new products, they pop in daily, so we have to keep all departments looking and feeling fresh.”
A big part of display and merchandising is storytelling with big, multi-category brands and products that need to be merchandised together. “Talking Tables, for example, is increasingly expanding into novelty products, games and tabletop,” highlights Amanda.
“Candlelight is another very successful brand where the company’s different product sectors have adjacencies and blend together.”
Confectionery has also become a very important part of the gifting offer, particularly seasonally, where expansion has grown exponentially, with Morleys’ offer featuring major brands.
At the time of going to press at the end of June, the focus is on the annual Wimbledon Championships, with Elys in Wimbledon, Morley’s flagship store, ensuring that there’s an array of gift-led product starting with tennisthemed Biscuiteer biscuits in confectionery on the ground floor, and Wimbledon tote bags, tea towels, mugs and keyrings displayed within the spacious gift department on the third floor, in anticipation of increased footfall from locals and visitors throughout the two weeks of the championships. “Each year, the event allows us to showcase the store,” says Amanda, “and it therefore sits very much in the calendar.”
Highlights Marianne: “Elys will have the biggest of all the Christmas shops and, this year, the footprint will be three times larger than in previous years. The expanded space will give us a greater opportunity to do more gifting, with food and drink a key part of the offer.”
Amanda says that particularly at Christmas, and seasonally in general, customers invariably
As for Elys 150th anniversary, activities will be starting at the beginning of July, ramping up over the following months. “We’re building a series of events and customer activity in store, creating some limited edition and collectable products using heritage images,” Amanda confirms.
Christmas this year will continue to reflect nostalgia, with all eight Morleys Group stores opening a Christmas shop at the end of September in readiness for the half term break. Each Christmas shop will have a similar look and feel with products ranging from Christmas baubles, decorations and crackers through to cards, gift, wrap, roll and ribbons.
come in with no idea about what want they want to buy. “It’s therefore our role to inspire them with great product and to create a great shopping experience. Our dedicated, passionate store teams welcome shoppers across all our stores and know many of the regular shoppers by their first names,” The buyers source and select appropriate and interesting product with the stores team then building engagement and strong loyal relationships with the local community. “We involve individual team members in our social media posts which have a very high engagement rate,” says Amanda. “They are always fun and feel very personal.”
Looking ahead to 2027, the biggest focus for the Group is the re-opening of Jolly’s
department store in Bath in early March 2027, with a launch into Easter and then the hugely busy summer tourist season. It’s a major restoration project in collaboration with Bath Council, with the store trading from a smaller footprint than Elys, about half the size. Tourism is set to be huge throughout the year, especially around the time of the Jane Austen Festival held annually in September, followed by the winter Christmas market.
So, what are the plans for curating the gift offer in Jolly’s? “Gift will have a key location central to the ground floor,” confirms Marianne. “We’ll be featuring lots of local products, alongside a premium offer of seasonal gifting, home fragrance, stationery and confectionery alongside.”
“So much at Jolly’s is about heritage,” states Amanda, “including Queen Mary’s dressing room on the ground floor, adjacent to where gifts will be located. Visually, due to the age and heritage of the building it’s going to be our most attractive store.”
Inset: Wimbledon is a key focus for gifting at Ely’s during the tennis championships.
Inset: Jolly’s in Bath will be re-opening next March.
Inset: Candles are a key section of the gift department.
Half Time Reactions
Paper Tiger, Edinburgh
Winner: The Greats Best In-Store/Window Display category
How’s the first half of the year been? “The first half of 2026 has been very positive for Paper Tiger,” confirms Michael Apter, managing director, Paper Tiger, Edinburgh.
“All the Spring Seasons landed well, and we have worked hard to create interesting window displays and sales opportunities with our suppliers. That has undoubtedly helped to attract customers and build sales momentum. Seeing that effort recognised at The Greats was really rewarding.”
What do you see as the opportunities for the second half of the year? “We have plans in place for all of our product ranges and displays for the season, and we're excited about what we will be offering our
customers through the Edinburgh festivals, Back to School/college, and for our Autumn steps towards Christmas.”
Continues Michael: “I'm looking forward to visiting Harrogate Home & Gift again this summer, having enjoyed it last year after a long hiatus. The Autumn Fair/Glee combination in September should also be a really interesting show. Hopefully, bringing these fairs together will be a synergy for buyers and exhibitors alike.”
What do you see as the challenges? “World War Three? I felt moderately and
uncharacteristically optimistic at the start of the year. There are some decent underlying numbers in the UK economy, but politicslocal, national and global - have conspired to make life difficult for all of us.”
Below: Paper Tiger was the winner of The Greats Best In-Store/Window Display category.
Brand Academy, London Winner: The Greats Independent Gift Retailer of the Year – London, South, South East and East Anglia category
How’s the first half of the year been? "We've had a great start to the year,” states Kat Wainstok, creative director at Brand Academy, which is located at London’s OXO Tower. “Our community has grown a lot and now especially, it's really exciting for us to be seeing new brands and designers emerging into the gifting and retail world. Winning The Greats Independent Gift Retailer of the Year – London, South, South East and East Anglia award has shown how all the hard work the entire team have been putting in has really shone through."
What do you see as the opportunities for the second half of the year? "There are tons of opportunities in the second half of the year to celebrate newness. The design and gifting world is always evolving which is a great way for us to be authentic and bold with our brand and product selection. The hard work the team have put in has set us up for an adventurous summer and an exciting Christmas ahead."
What do you see as the challenges? "There are lots of factors, including global impacts affecting the retail and gift industries at every stage. The biggest challenges are keeping up with the changing landscape and continuing to get the best offers for our customers. The most important thing is to keep focusing on what makes independent retail great, and for consumers to support their local high streets when they can."
Celebrations, Carlisle
Finalist: The Greats Independent Gift Retailer of the Year - North & Northern Ireland category
How’s the first half of the year been for Celebrations?
“We’ve had a steady start to the year, with some good strong sales figures over the spring seasons,” confirms Sonya Haandrikman Sibbald, managing director of Celebrations in Carlisle. “However, the weather has had an effect on footfall coming into the city centre. We find that when the sun is shining, given the wet Cumbrian weather, locals make a beeline for the lakes while they can!”
What do you see as the opportunities, for the second half of the year? “There are some fabulous gift products around at the moment,
and as we approach the height of the wedding season, suppliers such as Widdop, with their Amore range, are going to be firm favourites with our customers. We also have the World Cup, so party products will see a rise in sales. I've also got England football socks from White Cotton Cards. The baby ones are so cute!”
Adds Sonya: “Additionally, I feel it is really important to support industry trade shows, with Harrogate Home & Gift and Autumn Fair to look forward to. There’s nothing quite like actually seeing the product in the flesh. It’s at trade shows that we find new manufacturers and 'different' product ranges to our core suppliers.” There has been a steady decline in suppliers exhibiting at some of the shows (undoubtedly down to cost) but if retailers don't get out there and go to these shows we may lose them all together. As the saying goes, if you don't use it you lose it! I for one will certainly be showing my support to keep the trade shows alive!
What do you see as the challenges? “The main challenges facing many retailers are the policies imposed by the government. Our business rates have sky rocketed and this, in turn with a rise in employers national insurance contribution, pension contributions, and minimum wage, is certainly a challenge. We like to pay our staff well above the national minimum wage to reward their loyalty and hard work, so the rise means that our wage bill has massively increased! Being in a city centre, the rise in car park charges is also an issue, with more people heading out of town. It sometimes feels like there isn't enough to encourage and support businesses, with Carlisle high street only seeing a rise in barbers and vape shops!”
Cornucopia Home & Gift, Worcester
Finalist: The Greats Independent Gift Retailer of the Year - Midlands & Wales category
How was the first half of the year? “The first half of the year has been really positive,” states Hannah Bishop, owner of Cornucopia. “We've continued to see customers looking for meaningful, design-led products and experiences, and we've focused on making Cornucopia a destination rather than just a shop. Being recognised as a finalist in The Greats Best Display category was a real highlight and reflected the huge amount of time and creativity that goes into our visual merchandising and storytelling throughout the year.”
What do you see as the opportunities for the second half of the year? “As we move into the second half of the year, we're excited about continuing to build on the experiences that bring people into independent retail. We see huge opportunities in creating memorable displays, embracing social media to reach new audiences, and offering products customers can't easily find elsewhere. Christmas remains a key opportunity for us, and we're already planning ways to make the season feel even more special for our customers.”
What do you see as the challenges? “The biggest challenge continues to be balancing rising costs and economic uncertainty while maintaining the level of service, creativity and product offering that independent retailers are known for. However, we believe independent shops have a real advantage in being able to offer personality, expertise and a genuine connection with customers, which remains incredibly valuable.”
Inset: Brand Academy was the winner of The Greats Independent Gift Retailer of the Year – London, South, South East and East Anglia category.
Inset: Celebrations, a finalist in The Greats Independent Gift Retailer of the Year - North & Northern Ireland category.
Inset: Cornucopia, a finalist in The Greats Independent Gift Retailer of the Year - Midlands & Wales category.
Hugs & Kisses, Tettenhall
Finalist: The Greats Independent Gift Retailer of the YearMidlands & Wales category
How’s the first half of the year been? “The first half of the year has been hugely successful for us - we’re up on last year - nevertheless, it’s still been very, very tough,” admits Caroline Ranwell, owner, Hugs & Kisses, Tettenhall.
What do you see as the opportunities for the second half of the year? “Work smart. Keep changing your stock and keep the shop fresh and interesting.”
What do you see as the challenges? “We have fewer staff due to increased labour costs. I’m therefore doing more myself and working longer hours.”
Jumping Bean, London
Finalist: The Greats Best Specialist Multiple Retailer of Gifts category
How was the first half of the year? “Customers still want a face to face experience. Most are ground level and rooting for high street shops like ours. We hear it all the time,” says Jumping Bean’s co-owner Nilou Noorbakhsh.
What do you see as the opportunities for the second half of the year? “We will continue to focus on what we do best, creating a beautiful shop and giving customers the best possible service, that includes giftwrapping, as well as a variety of different price points.”
Ivy & Rose Gifts, Birmingham
A finalist in The Greats Best Newcomer Gift Retailer category
How’s the first half of the year been? “As we only moved store just before Christmas, the first six months were a whirlwind,” comments Ivy & Rose’s owner Alex Becket. “Having been shortlisted as a finalist in The Greats Best Newcomer Gift Retailer category, it was six months that I wasn’t expecting. Owning a shop on your own is always super busy and I’m always on the hunt for new makers and suppliers so we have been on the search.”
What do you see as the opportunities for the second half of the year? “I’m already thinking about what gaps in stock I would like to see filled and what I would like to prepare for the Christmas period. As ever, we plan Christmas earlier each year. As October hits we like to be ready.”
What do you see as the challenges? “Being in Birmingham’s jewellery quarter has the challenge of always being conscious of gold and metal prices, therefore I always like to be up to date on the jewellery trends.”
What do you see as the challenges? “Due to the weather and the war in Iran, business has become more challenging, especially in relation to the clothing section. It’s been challenging on the staffing front too - finding the right candidates and the increased costs in hiring, coupled with the escalation of shoplifting.”
Feather Robins Gifts, Daventry
A finalist in The Greats Independent Gift Retailer of the Year - Midlands & Wales category.
How’s the first half of the year been? “The first half of the year has been a mixed bag for us, where we've had to be agile, make tough decisions on which suppliers to stock and drop to ensure every square foot of the shop works hard.”
What do you see as the opportunities, for the second half of the year? “We're continuing to focus on offering products customers can't easily find elsewhere, creating reasons for people to visit our shops rather than simply shop online. Events, exclusive product launches, meet the maker events and strengthening our social media engagement will all provide opportunities to attract new customers and encourage repeat visits.”
What do you see as the challenges? “Footfall. We need to encourage people back to the high street. For Feather Robins, our aim is to create memorable in-store experiences, by offering VIP shopping evenings and brand spotlight days, as well as to build a stronger community and stay connected with customers between visits. Plus, rewarding loyalty with loyalty schemes, exclusive offers and early access to new collections.”

It’s been a challenging first half of the year for Bill Nettelfield, owner of Bill & Bert’s, who can’t wait to head off to Harrogate, not only to find new products but to enjoy mixing business with pleasure.
Well, here we are again, another Harrogate show coming up very soon. The one show everyone looks forward to. It’s relaxing, there’s sunshine (we hope), there are pubs and restaurants within walking distance and, most importantly, there are some great exhibitors with some great products to tempt us into stocking up ready for the Christmas madness. Every year we find at least three or four cracking new lines from suppliers we hadn’t ordered from before, and I’m sure this year won’t be any different.
One of the best things about the Harrogate show, which stands out from all the other shows, is the food and beverages they have on offer. These are so much better than elsewhere. It’s by far the most sociable trade event and long may that continue. I’ve been going to Harrogate since 1986, and it might be smaller than in the past, but it’s still the best.
Bill & Bert’s was the very proud winner of the Best Retailer Initiative category at The Greats awards in London back in May. Our What’s In The Bill & Bert’s Box? has been a firm favourite of customers all over the country, so to be awarded the prize was a real buzz for the whole shop. A huge thank you to Max Publishing and Progressive Gifts & Home who put on a great evening for everyone. Huge congratulations to all the winners.
Sadly, my mum passed away in April from the dreadful Alzheimer’s Disease. During Alzheimer’s Awareness Week we held a fundraising raffle in the shop. We posted online showing the prizes from the shop our customers could win and had more prizes donated from some of our suppliers. A huge thank you to Roka, Keycraft, Big Potato Games and Cartwright & Butler who all very generously sent some great prizes. We raised an amazing £1,540 in the shop.
Trade has been tougher since Easter here in Essex. I’m sure it’s similar all over the country. The very hot weather for half term week at the end of May seemed to send mums and dads to the seaside rather than the high street. Why go shopping when you can queue for hours in the traffic and try and park in 30c heat?
It would certainly seem that the economy has taken
GiftThe
a dip in confidence with just about every household bill going up for all of us. Along with Westminster deciding that we all have a bottomless pit to pay its ever-increasing business rates and NI contributions it’s not the easiest trading environment. But we, as independent retailers, always find a way of keeping our stores fresh and exciting. Come the end of the week, the month, and the three-month period, we still seem to come out on top.
Back in February at Spring Fair, we found in Hall 4 a new company for Bill & Bert’s, Home Fragrance Co, an Australian company who, in my opinion, had the best diffusers I’ve seen for ages - £25 retail. After having received our first order just in time for the Mothering Sunday trade, we are now on our fourth delivery. Not only do they look great, but the fragrances are stunning.
Meanwhile, the craze for squidges seems to be growing and growing. Whether it be Specks Gumps from Baby Republic, Needoh from Bigjigs Toys or Inkers and Dumplings from Keycraft, as long they are on the shelves the kids will drag mums into the shop. Strange when you think stress balls have been around for 30 odd years. What the power of Tik Tok can do! I hope everyone has a great summer trading period and, who knows, we might even bump into each other in a pub in Harrogate.
By now, most people know I am a follower of Leeds United, so it was a fantastic feeling securing our Premier League status without the panic of last game nerves. Here’s hoping for an even better season coming up MOT. (Marching On Together).

Have you heard of the brands Ichigo Ichie or Bear LaLa? If not, you soon will! They’re two of the very newest brands from Enesco – one sassy, one cute.
They’re very collectable and they’re selling out fast, say the company’s sales director EMEA, Greg Waters, and senior marketing manager Aylish Ellwood.
So what else is driving sales at Enesco, and which international markets are doing the business?
The Next Big Thing
With brand such as Disney, Beatrix Potter, Winnie the Pooh and Willow Tree, Enesco, one of the leading global companies selling licensed gifts and collectable figurines, has long been well-loved for the business’ traditional licensed brands, more of which later.
Since June, the spotlight has been shining on series 1 of a sassy new brand from Enesco, Ichigo Ichie, featuring four colourful pop culture figurines. The USP is its definition: one opportunity, one chance – in other words, the product will never be available again, thereby creating unprecedented demand.
Explains Greg Waters, sales director EMEA: “It’s a licensed range of collectable figurines selling at £14.95 at retail, and its name comes from a Japanese concept of having to go for it, to take an opportunity. We sold half the stock on the first day,
which has never happened before, and less than a week later we were completely out of stock.”
So what makes the figurines so desirable? “They’re striking, colourful ‘baddies’,” says senior marketing manager, Aylish Ellwood, “with names like Bane, Harley Quinn, Joker and Pennywise.”
With such an incredible head start, hot on the heels of series 1 is Series 2 which will be deliverable at the end of September, followed by series 3 which will be deliverable at the end of October.
“It’s a collectable range that has caught the zeitgeist as well as the retailers’ imagination,” says Greg. “So much so that they’ve been placing orders in significant quantities.”
Adds Aylish, “we thought that we were being ambitious with series
1 but, already, I can clearly see a secondary market. It’s been very exciting and taken us by surprise. We hope it will be the next big thing and become a global brand.”
Alongside Ichigo Ichie, the company has introduced Bear LaLa, which is new to the European market, a tactile collection of 12 dressed silicone bear figurines. “Users can take the bears clothes on and off, with the range having appeal to different age groups,” explains Aylish. “People love to play with them, and, importantly, they’re classed as a toy, so that’s
opened up a new category and sales channel for us.”
Highlights Greg: “The bears are competitively priced at £4.95, making them a pick-up gift, or an extra add-on. Aside from plush, we have always been on the periphery of toys, with these spanning the gap between kids and adults. Social media activity has helped to create demand, enabling storytelling. Both these and Ichigo Ichie tick all the boxes.”
On the more traditional collectables front –“the brands you don’t have to explain” as Greg puts it – Willow Tree, created by Susan Lordi, and now celebrating 26 years, is continuing to go from strength to strength. “It’s collectable and giftable making it a powerful property, and one of the few ranges that performs well across all markets,” confirms Greg. “With births, marriages, anniversaries and other family occasions, some of the figurines that celebrate life’s milestones have been bestsellers for 20 years. I recently saw a sideboard full of Willow Tree in an episode of Coronation Street, underlining that the brand has become part of today’s culture, with a third generation continuing to buy the pieces.”
Disney glasses by Lolita. “It’s unusual for Disney to approve anything linked to alcohol,” admits Greg, “so this has given the brand an unexpected boost.”
An expanding category meanwhile, is hanging ornaments, most notably featuring the Christmas-focused Department 56 and Disney. “It’s an exciting opportunity and there are some big expansions planned for next year,” confirms Greg.
On the international front, there have been several changes over the last three to four years, with Enesco going from a team of agents to employing an experienced sales team. “It’s been a successful decision, with business in Austria, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Switzerland all bearing fruit. We’ve especially seen strong growth in Germany and Belgium, with plans for strengthening opportunities in these markets enabling us to build relationships with retailers.”
online communities are a huge part of Enesco’s success. “They have such a huge global reach that the world seems like a smaller place,” she comments. “We’re also working with Facebook and Instagram, with Tik Tok lending itself to the new collections, Ichigo Ichie and Bear LaLa.”
As for Winnie the Pooh, the brand is celebrating its 100th anniversary in December 2026, with Disney doing an extensive marketing roll-out. As Aylish points out, “there are so many other well-loved characters in the stories, such as Eyore, Tigger and Rabbit, that it’s a very important property across all our Winnie the Pooh products in the Disney Tradition range, where we feature the brand in different formats.”
Smelling Sweet
Home fragrance is continuing to go from strength to strength, with Enesco in the UK and Ireland distributors for Yankee Candle, WoodWick with its crackling wooden wick, and Chesapeake Bay with its coastal vibe, with all three brands recently rebranded. “Yankee Candle is an iconic, global brand that has dedicated users, so much so that it’s almost fan based,” highlights Greg.
This month, on July 9 and 10, all three brands will be showcased at the London Home Fragrance Show taking place at the Business Design Centre in London.
He says that with a mature UK market, Enesco’s opportunities for growth now lie in Europe and further afield, with these markets increasingly growing in importance. “It’s why Ambiente has become our key trade show, as it has the greatest number of international buyers,” states Greg. “We had some fantastic leads at the show in February giving us great opportunities to build on. When deciding on which trade shows to exhibit at, it comes down to our return on investment (ROI) as well as which of the shows will give us the highest profile as an international business.”
Of course, it’s not all smooth sailing, with Greg pointing out that all businesses are having to deal with the current challenges. “However, all successful businesses have to learn to adapt to grow,” he states. “At Enesco, we do move and we do change. We’re not stuck in the past, although, admittedly, sometimes it can be painful to move on. But we feel that we have made the right decisions both in the UK and in America. As a relatively small UK team that’s part of a huge global company, our US parent has always being there to support us.”
Sums up Aylish: “At Enesco, we’re always looking for the next gift, the next trend, and, of course, the next big thing.”
Another brand anniversary that’s on the horizon is the 125th anniversary of Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit in 2027, with Penguin organising a myriad of events to celebrate. “Peter Rabbit could not be a safer brand for people to buy as a gift,” comments Aylish.
As for Lolita’s hand painted glassware, the brand recently launched Princess themed
And staying with trade fairs, and with Ichigo Ichie and Bear LaLa in mind, Greg points out that one of the advantages of being part of a big group of companies is the possibility to share space at trade shows, with examples being the annual toy fairs in both London and Nuremberg. But back to collectables and collectors, Aylish emphasises that

Four busy, buzzy and – hopefully - sunny days of buying, networking and after-show socialising await gift buyers heading to the beautiful spa town of Harrogate this month to do their summer sourcing.
With Pleasure Mixing Business
With four Design Point marquees and four halls showcasing the newest launches for the coming season, this July’s Harrogate Home & Gift Buyers Festival, taking place from 19-22 July, is a great way to kick off the buying season for the second half of the year, with the show set to deliver its most inspiring edition yet. Bringing together over 500 brands and 20,000+ products across gift, home, fashion, jewellery & accessories, greetings & stationery, food & drink and wellbeing, Home & Gift will be offering a curated, comprehensive summer sourcing experience for retailers.
At the heart of this year's event is the new Scrapbook Summer creative theme, a nostalgic, layered, design-led identity inspired by the way buyers experience Home & Gift. “From collecting ideas and discovering new brands to curating product edits and shaping next season's ranges, the campaign will be celebrating the creativity, individuality and sense of discovery that defines the show,” explains show director David Westbrooke.
Highlights for 2026 include a new IND!E Pavilion, a curated destination showcasing some of the industry's most exciting challenger brands and emerging talent. New for 2026, the Pavilion will also host PITCH LIVE by IND!E, with selected brands presenting directly to retailers, industry experts and live audiences throughout the show.
Returning favourites include the Sunday Sundowners on Sunday 19 July, where
visitors and exhibitors will be able to celebrate the opening day of Home & Gift. Also returning will be Drinks on the Lawn on Monday 21 July, another of the show’s networking opportunities. Plus, the Indigo Lounge in Hall C will be offering further opportunities to catch up with industry folk, once again offering an exclusive space to relax, network and recharge throughout the show.
This year, there will be a 25% increase in new exhibitors to include Candlelight, Boxer Gifts, Wild Things Gifts and Museums & Galleries, along with Lisa Angel, TreeLocate and Edge Sculpture. Returning favourites meanwhile, include Joe Davies, Giftware Trading, Hill Interiors, Langs, Caroline Gardner, Kikkerland, My Doris, Lagoon Group and Chalk.
PG&H’s Home & Gift Partnership
Progressive Gifts & Home magazine, along with its digital partner GiftsandHome.net, is a confirmed media partner of the show, following many years of successful collaboration.
“Perfectly timed at a key moment in the buying calendar, Home & Gift gives retailers the opportunity to review the year so far, refresh their product offering and source what sells ahead of Autumn, Christmas and beyond,” says David. “Whether buyers are searching for trend-led newness, proven performers or the next breakout-brand, the show will be bringing together established suppliers and emerging talent in one easy to shop destination.”

A New Era For The
The Giftware Association
The Giftware Association has re-branded as the Home & Gift Association, (HGA), with managing director Gemma Sault explaining: “our role is to stay ahead of change and bring our members with us.”
Here at The Giftware Association, we are stepping into a new era. An era that builds on more than 80 years at the heart of the gift and home sector, bringing people together, championing creativity and supporting businesses to grow, but one that is now, unapologetically, focused on what the industry needs next.
Because the reality is simple: our industry is changing. And it’s changing fast. And so must we. This isn’t about change for the sake of it. It’s about being clearer in what we stand for, stronger in how we represent the industry, and far more intentional in the impact we deliver for our members.
So, we are evolving not just in what we do,
but in how we define ourselves. We are changing our name and in turn we are sharpening our proposition. And as we move forward, we will be known as: Home & Gift Association – Your Growth Partner.
Trade associations have long been built on support offering advice, guidance, and a network to rely on when you need it. That
foundation remains. It always will.
But the expectations placed on businesses today have fundamentally shifted and, with that, so have the expectations of us.
Businesses today are navigating more complexity than ever before. They are more ambitious, more agile and operating in a far more competitive and fast-moving landscape. They’re not just looking for reassurance. They’re looking for progress. They’re looking for traction, and, above all, they’re looking for growth.
They want to be seen. To be stocked. To be remembered. They want access to the right buyers, meaningful exposure and real commercial opportunities.
And that is where this new era begins.
The Home & Gift Association (HGA) is not simply a place to come for support; it is a platform for growth. We want to be our members growth partner. We are building opportunities, opening doors, and creating connections that have real commercial value. Not just conversations, but outcomes.

New Initiatives
That ambition is already being brought to life through a new suite of initiatives:
• HGA Buyers Circle – opening up direct access to buyers and bringing them closer to the brands they need to discover, with our free buyer membership.
• HGA Industry Champions – a collective of trusted voices helping to shape the direction of the industry from within where true challenges can be raised and represented.
• HGA Mentoring – practical, experienceled support designed to accelerate the next generation of businesses to grow.
• HGA Gift Wrapped – strengthening our advocacy, insight and voice to ensure the industry is heard, protected, and properly represented through industry surveys and research and presenting our findings to the Bank of England, Government bodies, Genesis initiative and key stakeholders in our countries future.
A Stronger Voice for a Changing Industry
We are incredibly fortunate to work within one of the most creative, diverse and entrepreneurial sectors in the UK. But it is also one of the most complex. Consumer behaviour is shifting. Expectations around sustainability and transparency are rising. Digital transformation is reshaping how businesses operate, sell and scale. Global trade continues to evolve in ways that demand constant adaptation.
All of this places increasing pressure on businesses to move faster, think differently, and stay ahead. And in that environment, having a strong, confident voice is not optional it is essential.
This next chapter is about stepping fully into that role.
It’s about representing our members with clarity and conviction. It’s about shaping the conversations that define our sector. And it’s about ensuring the value of this industry is recognised not just within itself, but far beyond it. We are not here to observe change. We are here to lead it.
Connection with Purpose
Shaped by the Industry, for the Industry
Perhaps one of the most important shifts we are making is how we listen and how we respond. Relevance is everything. And relevance comes from being deeply embedded within the industry, not operating alongside it. That means listening more closely, acting more decisively, and ensuring our members are not just part of the Association, but actively shaping it. Through initiatives like Industry Champions we are bringing real business insight directly into our thinking ensuring our direction reflects the lived experiences of those working within the sector every day. This is not a top-down organisation. It is a collaborative one, built with and for the industry it serves.
A Community with Real Impact
Embracing Innovation and What Comes Next
The gift and home sector is moving at pace and it’s being shaped by deeper, more meaningful shifts. We’re seeing a move towards products with story, purpose and personalisation. A growing expectation around sustainability, not as a differentiator, but as a baseline. A rise in digital tools that are transforming everything from operations to customer engagement. And underpinning all of this is one thing: change. The pace of it isn’t slowing down. Which means we can’t either. Our role is to stay ahead of that change and bring our members with us.
That means being more agile in how we deliver value, more practical in the insights we provide, and more proactive in helping businesses adapt, evolve and thrive.
Because the organisations that will succeed in the future are not those that react to change but those that enable it.
At its core, The Giftware Association has always been about people. Designers. Retailers. Suppliers. Entrepreneurs. Creators. A community built on shared ambition, shared challenges, and a shared belief in the value of this industry. This will never change, but in our new era of the Home & Gift Association this community will become even more powerful. Because when the right people come together, when ideas are shared, knowledge is exchanged and opportunities are created, the impact goes far beyond any one business. Our role is to strengthen that community. To amplify its voice. And to create the conditions for it to thrive.
Looking Ahead
The future of the Home & Gift Association is clear. We will continue to champion creativity, support and connect businesses, and represent this industry with energy and purpose.
But more than that, we will do it with a renewed focus on impact. This is not just a new chapter. It is a step change. A shift from being a support network to becoming a true growth partner, one that is embedded in the industry, driven by its needs and committed to its future. And as the industry continues to evolve, so will we. Ensuring that every member, every connection and every opportunity plays a part in building a stronger, more dynamic, and more successful future for the home and gift sector.
Connection has always been central to what we do. It is part of our DNA. But connection in this new era needs to mean more. It’s no longer about how many people you meet it’s about the value of those interactions and what they lead to. The right introduction. At the right time. With the right outcome. Whether that’s connecting a brand with a key retailer, creating insight-led opportunities through our initiatives, or enabling collaborations that unlock new markets, our role is to ensure every interaction has purpose. Because if a connection doesn’t lead to opportunity, it’s just a conversation.

ChrisCross Designs is a brand new, quirky giftware company that will be making its debut at Harrogate Home & Gift this month (Hall A; Stand B24). Featuring three cute character softies, beaded bracelets, fun themed mugs, super-dangly keyrings and colourful tote bags, the inaugural AW26 launch is the brainchild of Christine Nicholls.
Introducing
The Monkee Tailz
Following a long, successful career in the toy industry, Christine, co-founder of leading toy company Golden Bear Products, is currently channelling her passion for design and creativity into an exciting new direction with the launch of ChrisCross Designs (the sign-off signature on her artwork: Chris x).
The inspiration for the exciting new business venture follows a holiday to the Caribbean three years ago, where Christine took part in a workshop to learn the ancient art form of Batik. It wasn’t long before the bright colours, intricate patterns and cheeky inhabitants of the islands inspired her to create the world of Monkee Tailz.
As she highlights: “The vibrant colours featured within ChrisCross’ debut collection take their inspiration from the rosy hues of tropical sunsets, golden sandy beaches and blue shimmering seas.”
More excitement for the brand features in a short form animation developed by the “super talented” 3Megos production company. “The three cheeky little Monkees have been brought to life on their sun-soaked tropical island,” continues Christine. “Each character has their own unique personality bringing humour, mischief and their own playful charm.”
Plans are also currently underway to engage and establish the brand across social media and online platforms, along with a myriad of other marketing initiatives.
But even that’s not all. The company has also secured two licensed ranges in its portfolio. With Christine’s passion, and
lifelong love for cats, the idea of supporting a cat's charity held enormous appeal, with Christine jumping at the opportunity to work with Cats Protection, having been granted the plush rights by licensing agency, Brands with Influence. “What an absolute pleasure it has been to develop these adorable cats with so much appeal,” she enthuses.
month. “I’m so excited to meet retail buyers and see their reaction to the new ranges and what we have in the pipeline for the future,” she states. “It’s the culmination of many months of passion, fun and determination from the whole team, with special thanks to Emily, Sheila, Kathy, Jeanette, Martin and Piers for all their fantastic support.”
ChrisCrossDesigns
The range has been designed to the highest quality standards, in supersoft plush with fine embroidered features. It includes plushies and keyrings in two colour along with a black shoulder bag. Every sale will help generate funds for the Cats Protection charity while appealing to cat lovers across the country.
Meanwhile, the latest license signed by ChrisCross Designs is the heartwarming CGI animated movie Bollywoof, scheduled for release in Spring 2027 on Sky Cinema, for which the company is producing a plush range based on the lead character, a springer spaniel called Basil. “In the movie, Basil gets lost in Mumbai and has some fun adventures while looking to reunite with his family,” Christine explains.
But for now, Christine is very much looking forward to ChrisCross Designs’ debut launch at Home & Gift in Harrogate this

If one word sums up jewellery for the coming season, it’s ‘timeless’ –jewellery with longevity that can be worn from dawn to dusk and for multiple occasions - with suppliers also highlighting collectable charms, playful motifs, layering and individuality. Leading brands in the sector reveal some of the other key trends that retailers should be on the lookout for.
Adornments Timeless
As Harrogate’s Home & Gift show gets ready to welcome visitors this July, gift retailers are sure to have an eye out for the jewellery and fashion accessories that will wow their customers over the coming season.
At Joma Jewellery, AW26 has landed, with the company pairing cute charms and on-trend styles with heartfelt sentiments and gifting at its heart.
With both charm jewellery and collectables having a big moment, Joma has expanded its Kids’ Collection with Jomees, playful character jewellery. Similarly, the Vibes, Little Stories and Autumn’s Calling collections all feature fun icon charms - to include a cherry, a love letter, and a pumpkin spice latte - capturing Autumn’s cosy aesthetic and ‘just because’ gifting.
“Leaning into the clover trend in a timeless way, the brand’s most-loved clover charms are returning in their own collection this season, complete with mother of pearl detailing,” confirms Joma Jewellery’s (and Katie Loxton’s) founder, Katie Loxton.
As for the festive season, Katie highlights that Joma’s boxed gifts have been designed
to dazzle, ranging from bestselling Christmas Crackers and earring baubles to timeless Lab Grown Diamond A Littles.
“There are two main colour palettes running consecutively for the season,” states Hot Tomato’s managing director, Alex Machin.
“Firstly, retailers should be on the look-out for soft, muted, feminine colours and secondly - and on completely the other side of the spectrum - there are striking monochrome classics, with both palettes working their way into floral motifs and designs that cover all bases, which has to be the mantra for the season.”
She adds that, alongside the usual glam
and sparkle of the season, buyers should also keep an eye out for Mexican sacred heart inspired pieces. “This motif has crossed over from interiors and is rooted in the folk-art scene, symbolising divine love, compassion and spiritual devotion. Plus, fashion continues to flirt with the trend for mismatched earrings allowing for a more bespoke edit,” she continues. “Continuity and cohesiveness comes through either the colour palette, the shape or both. It’s about individual style.”
As for materials, Alex confirms that stainless steel is continuing its ascendancy. “The finer designs this material allows for lend themselves perfectly to the current trend for layering. The longevity and waterproof nature of stainless steel also

With Men In Mind
Of course, today, it’s not just women who buy and wear jewellery. “Tribal Steel’s real stone bead bracelets are a casual, easy to wear fashion that appeals to a high percentage of men,” explains Midhaven’s Bill Smethurst.
“Often layered on the wrist and worn every day, they are designed to be easy and comfortable to wear and simple to slip on and off making them ideal for everyday fashion.”
Designs include earthy tones of tiger eye, worn by Roman soldiers for courage and confidence, jasper for stamina and physical energy and agates for emotional balance. Continues Bill: “The bracelets, which can be worn simply beaded, or with charms and motifs, are tactile and appeal to the growing wellbeing market.”
Additionally, the company’s magnetic brooch range features new designs including the launch of some smaller, lighter pieces.
As for what’s trending for Autumn/Winter at Equilibrium from Joe Davies, fashion director Mary Caputo highlights that fashion jewellery and accessories will be defined by a return to timeless, versatile pieces, such as simple stud earrings, tennis bracelets and delicate pendant necklaces.
At Letterbox Love, the company is seeing a continued shift towards more thoughtful, affordable gifting for Autumn/Winter. “With the cost of living impacting on how people shop, jewellery gifting is leaning more towards smaller, meaningful gifts rather than big luxury purchases,” comments founder Kerry Bilson.
appeals and is giving precious metals, such as silver and gold, a run for their money.”
With a passion for colour Miss Milly’s managing director, Sarah Watmore, points to a regal theme, as dark green continues its dominance accompanied by royal purple.
“It’s a divisive colour we haven’t seen in the spotlight for some time, and we’ve embraced it on its own as a standalone colour, combined with complementary shades of lilac and pink as a contrast to the dark green and lime green hues this season.”
Sarah adds that there is also a forecast of rich chocolate browns with a tint of purple.
“Following the success of chocolate and caramel in our AW25 jewellery, we’ve added in touches of this to the new collection along with dark and fiery reds that are always popular at this time of year. It feels like a rich, deep season, one of comfort and bedding down with luxurious colours tempered by neutrals or elevated with pops of brightness.”
The company’s new Equilibrium Simply Timeless range has been aligned with the season’s focus on enduring style for jewellery, with the range showcasing versatile pieces that have been designed to be worn across different occasions transcending seasonal trends. “To complement the collection, the range has been packaged in a brand new book style box, featuring a magnetic fastening lid, that enhances the brand’s signature clean, luxurious aesthetic,” adds Mary,
“For AW26, retailers are focusing on jewellery collections that allow customers to express individual style while still delivering strong commercial longevity,” says CME’s Debbie Hunt.
“There is continued demand for sterling silver pieces that balance trend relevance with timeless appeal, while layering and stacking remain key looks heading into AW26, as well as jewellery that can be worn in multiple ways.” She adds that timeless sparkle continues to hold its place, delivering everyday luxury while remaining wearable across different occasions.
“There is also a growing appetite for jewellery that brings a sense of fun and individuality to collections,” Debbie continues. “Motif jewellery and playful seasonal icons accessories are adding personality and whimsy to everyday styling.”
“We have seen a rise in ‘affordable luxury’ jewellery, gifts that feel premium in both presentation and sentiment, but remain accessible. It’s exactly where we sit as a brand, and it’s shaping our Christmas range this year where we’re focusing on our traditional adjustable bracelets and poem cards that can be popped in with a greetings card.”
Alongside motifs and icons that add personality to an outfit, clearly leading the way this Autumn/Winter is classic jewellery with timeless appeal, that can be worn over and over again for different reasons and different seasons.

FASHION FORWARD into autumn
When it comes to fashion accessories, socks, of course, are a unisex year-round winner. “For AW26, we’re seeing socks continue to evolve beyond a practical purchase into a more personality-led gifting accessory, with consumers drawn to products that reflect hobbies, humour, nostalgia and individuality,” says Sock Academy’s account manager,” Alice Kelleher.
Key trends include nostalgic and interest-led gifting inspired by classic British culture, vintage motoring, gardening and retro colour palettes, alongside a growing focus on standout packaging and gifting experiences.
“We’re seeing strong demand for affordable gifts that still feel thoughtful, playful and premium across key gifting occasions,” adds Alice.
Reading glasses too, continue to combine fashion with function. “Fashion accessories for Autumn/Winter 2026 are moving towards richer, refined colour palettes, with consumers looking for pieces that feel both elevated and wearable,” says Opticaid’s buying director Gill Marchbank. “Deep burgundy tones continue to dominate, alongside layered browns including cocoa, chocolate, tobacco and caramel, while softer neutrals such as cloud, wax paper and muted stone shades are bringing a calmer, more premium feel to collections. Cooler tones are also emerging strongly, particularly moonlight blues, teal, pale aqua grey and softened purples.
“At Remaldi, these trends are feeding directly into our new AW26 reading glasses. We’re introducing new refined shapes, Oxford and Cambridge, in burgundy, purple and opal – a flattering neutral - and updates to current bestseller Windsor in dusky blue and raisin brown.”
At Joe Davies, the coming season’s accessories embrace rich texture, maximum plushness and a strong emphasis on ethical choices. “The overall trend blends sophistication with practicality and curates a
look that feels both luxurious and wearable for years to come,” says fashion director Mary Caputo.
The company’s Equilibrium A/W range embraces the resurgence of faux fur with a comprehensive collection of luxury pieces. “From fluffy clutch bags and shaggy totes to crossover scarves, gloves, mittens and fingerless gloves, in a variety of styles, key colours include rich chocolate brown and soft ivory in a variety of fur styles which have all been designed for versatility incorporating
introducing a rich seasonal palette of bitter chocolate, olive and cherry, paired with faux pony hair, croc print, and reimagined muted leopard, adding depth and versatility to everyday styling. Existing favourites, such as the woven Nova and Taya collections, remain, while new profiles such as Orin and Charlbury tap into the heritage trend.”
Miss Milly meanwhile, has taken onboard the positive reaction to the company’s new 80% cotton range of scarves and introduced a bigger selection. “It has confirmed that there will always be a market for lighter weight scarves year-round,” states managing director Sarah Watmore.
faux fur into everyday looks,” says Mary.
At Namaste, owner and director, Rachel Brummit, highlights, “We’re seeing a strong revival of the traditional craft of hand block printing across fashion accessories this year,” with the company preparing for the coming
season with the launch of its new Red Floral Block collection.
At Katie Loxton, design continues through co-ordinated accessories, with purses and card holders designed to pair across multiple bag profiles, making it easy to build cohesive displays in-store.
“Our latest bag collection brings elevated classics in new trend-led textures, designed to be loved and cherished for years to come,” says Katie Loxton, founder of her eponymous company. “We’re
It features cosy comfort pieces such as eye masks and slippers, alongside coordinating accessories including large washbags, purses and quilted shopping bags. “The range brings a fresh, confident energy to Autumn/ Winter, adding warmth and vibrancy through bold colour, rich pattern and a distinctly handcrafted feel,” says Rachel.
With current trends driving inspiration, gift retailers are sure to be spoilt for choice.

Cosying Up For Autumn
With suppliers embracing an increasingly defined seasonal narrative, Autumn has become an opportunity to give in-store and window displays a refresh, bringing the outside in with rich, earthy autumnal colours that fanfare the start of a new season.
Making the most of Autumn has been building year on year. Influenced by social media platforms such as Instagram and Tik Tok, with Halloween, as well as Autumn, becoming bigger events every year, driven by people wanting to make their homes and their home décor reflect the season as well as the occasion.
interiors with natural textures and rich seasonal tones becoming increasingly important across homeware and giftware.
Malene Brondberg, founder of We Love Seasons, highlights versatile decorative pieces that can be used year after year. “With Autumn 2026 in mind, we’re seeing a continued move towards warm, earthy
“For Autumn 2026, our collections will continue to feature earthy tones, deeper burnt oranges and soft natural shades across our pumpkin ranges, creating a cosy, timeless seasonal look for the home, inspired by the Danish concept of hygge. Some of our favourite pumpkin designs will also feature in our soft Cloud Dancer colourway, alongside seasonal acorns, garlands and wreaths to create a layered and relaxed Autumn feel throughout the collection.”

Nobile Glassware, concurs that people want to reflect the season in their homes with quality home décor items. “Many of our hand-blown vase designs bring the outside in, to include our leaf, hedgehog and squirrel vases. They’re statement pieces for the home and work all year round.”

In terms of design trends and colours, Flora and Fauna is leaning into earthy Autumn palettes including burnt orange, forest green, deep plum, warm taupe and soft mushroom tones. Explains Kate: “Natural materials and handcrafted finishes continue to influence the collection, with rustic wood, brushed metal and soft-touch fabrics adding warmth and character to the home.”

Graham, puts it: “Autumn arrives in a riot of colour, pulling the outdoors in with vibrant oranges, browns and greens, along with an inspirational display of rustic textures and pattern.”
He suggests that retailers should be on the lookout for decorative glassware, leaf motifs and folk-inspired patterns – as well as Halloween decorations and plenty of pumpkins - including in kitchenware. “Colours will be grounded, offering warmth and comfort, with earthy, deep tones being the most significant.”
At Joe Davies, managing director, Paul Hooker, highlights a mix of warmth, colour and creativity across the company’s ranges. “We’re seeing foodie-inspired gifting remain very strong, alongside ceramics, planters, fashion accessories and cosy home touches that work beautifully for the season.”
He says that crochet continues to be a huge trend. “We’ve therefore introduced several new designs and textures that bring a handcrafted feel into the collections in a fresh, commercial way. Floral designs are also performing strongly,” he confirms, “particularly styles that transition effortlessly into year-round sales, while brighter handpainted artisan finishes are proving especially popular across ceramics and glassware. Overall, customers are looking for products that feel uplifting, comforting and giftable, with Autumn/Winter shaping up to be a very exciting season for independent retailers.”
As Talking Tables’ marketing manager, Miriam Bridson, says there’s something about the shift into Autumn and winter that always feels a little bit magical. “It’s a season made for gathering - from longer lunches to candlelit dinners and those spontaneous moments around the table.
“For Autumn/Winter 2026, we’ve built on the momentum of our move into more reusable homewares that feature richer colours.”
Sophie Agnew, head of marketing at Widdop & Co, says that, alongside Spring, Autumn represents one of the company’s most significant launch windows. “For Autumn 2026, we’re focusing on expanding our already successful, established ranges with fresh storytelling and on-trend additions.
“A major focus for the season is bridging the gap between nostalgic charm and contemporary gifting, ensuring retailers have a diverse portfolio to capture the early Q4 golden quarter.”
A standout highlight for the season will be the expansion of the company’s licensed portfolios, particularly Disney’s Nightmare Before Christmas, which captures the gothic gifting trend that continues to grow yearon-year. It’s a powerful traffic-driver for retailers looking to diversify their seasonal home and gift offerings.”
With over 19 million
people in the UK calling themselves crafters, Figured’Art, which specialises in gift-led Paint by Numbers and Diamond Painting kits, will be bringing out some special Autumn designs that are new to the collection.
“Autumn scenes are among our best sellers,” confirms the company’s business development director, Helen Cottrill, “with Autumn colours always popular. There will also be a mini series of Diamond Painting kits featuring Autumn designs.”
As she points out: “Autumn is a definite season now, and people like to reflect it by making their environment cosy, doing something craft-led in the evenings as the nights get longer. With so many crafters in the UK, everything we bring out is with gift giving in mind.”
For gift shops, Autumn is a season that has become something of a winner, creating a new vibe in terms of both display and product.

Of The Year spookiest Night
Halloween is an occasion that families seem to love to celebrate, with a 2025 Good Housekeeping survey revealing that some 70% of Brits were intending to decorate their homes for Halloween.
Among the many gift suppliers already in the Halloween spirit is Elitetins. As managing director, James Brierley, points out: “Halloween has a very short sales window, but we have restocked our popular Witch’s Brew and Magical Spells tin trays to capture the mood and those additional seasonal sales in October.”
For Halloween 2026, Candlelight is significantly expanding its seasonal offering with a playful, refined collection of decorative accessories. New additions include glowing woodland-inspired LED lamps, plush pumpkin and mushroom cushions, decorative metal trays and rustic wooden mushroom ornaments.
“The collection has been designed to feel stylish and versatile, allowing customers to celebrate Halloween while maintaining a sophisticated Autumnal look throughout the season,” explains head of sales, Kate Winch.
Talking Tables too, is celebrating the occasion. “For Halloween, we’ve built on our spooky, existing collection of pumpkin, cat and spider themed products with some newnessa small tote bag for trick or treating made from recycled plastic for a more sustainable choice, a new ceramic ghost lantern that works with LED candles for safe seasonal styling, and icon shaped LED candles fun for all ages,” says marketing manager, Miriam Bridson.
significantly expanded our presence in this space with a major new collaboration, Skelly & Friends, a brand-new collection within our popular Softies range, created in collaboration with talented illustrator Lucy Herman.”
“The core design philosophy was to capture the magic and fun of the season without the scare factor,” says Sophia. “By keeping the designs charming, friendly and completely suitable from birth, we’ve unlocked a massive demographic for retailers, allowing them to cater to parents, grandparents, and toddlers.”
For figurine collectors, Enesco’s Disney’s Stitch is in the Halloween spirit this year, dressed as a witch, complete with a hat and cloak, and holding a Jack-o-Lantern. “This Jim Shore design blends mischief with folk art details adding a spooky seasonal touch,” says Enesco’s senior marketing manager, Aylish Ellwood. Other Halloween figurines from Enesco include Mickey Mouse taking flight in a bat costume by Jim Shore for Disney Traditions, and an Amethyst Moon Signature large jar floral gourmand fragrance from Yankee Candle, featuring a witches coven that’s taking place under the glow of a full moon.
Sophia Agnew, head of marketing at Widdop & Co, concurs that Halloween has become a massive commercial milestone on the UK retail calendar. “For 2026, we have
As Halloween gains traction year on yearin part thanks to people wanting to show off their interior displays on social media platforms such as Instagram – it’s no longer the supermarkets and bargain volume stores that are making the most of the commercial opportunities. With many gift and home suppliers expanding their product ranges due to demand, independent gift retailers too, are sure to make the most of this year’s spooky occasion.

WELCOME...
. . . to Progressive Gifts & Home’s special July issue Guide
To Home Fragrance/Bath & Body where we spotlight the cutting-edge trends for the second half of the year in these two all-important key product sectors for gift buyers that are continuing to grow exponentially, as suppliers inspire, innovate and up their game.
As you’ll see when you turn to Autumn/Winter Home Fragrance Trends on pages 84-87, there’s a lot to talk about, ranging from how a fragrance makes people feel to premium, perfume-led fine fragrances and skin scents that are being replicated in the home space as part of everyday living.
Suppliers are also highlighting home fragrance ‘wardrobes,’ with people curating a collection of home fragrance scents tailored to different rooms, moods, seasons and occasions. For Christmas buying, look out for gift boxes, featuring candle and diffuser sets in the traditional scents that we all know and love, as well as some interesting new blends for the festive season.
As for the Beauty, Bath & Body sector, our in-depth feature on pages 95-97 reveals that self-care today has become something of a ritual, with users, once again, looking for products that feel personal, with fragrance, ingredients and packaging driving the marketplace.
Meanwhile, returning to the UK after a three year gap is Millefiori Milano, with the company’s managing director, Sarah Allard-Morgan, looking forward to bringing the elegance, style and sophistication of Milan - reflected in Millefiori’s home fragrance offer – to the debut London Home Fragrance Show at the Business Design Centre in Islington. Turn to pages 92 and 93 to discover more about the brand and the company’s new launches for Autumn/Winter.
If you’re among the buyers heading to the show, which takes place on Thursday July 9 and Friday July 10, please come and say hello, as I’ve been invited to present a seminar on home fragrance trends for Autumn/Winter 2026 from 2.30-3pm on Thursday July 9, in the seminar theatre, and it would be lovely to see you there.
Meanwhile, enjoy reading!

84-87 HOME FRAGRANCE: TRENDS AUTUMN/ WINTER
92-93 IN PROFILE: MILLEFIORI MILANO
95-97 BEAUTY, BATH & BODY TRENDS: AUTUMN/ WINTER
As seasons go, Autumn is something of a marker in the sand. The end of summer; back to school; shorter, colder days and longer nights, with home fragrance creating the warm, cosy home ambience that’s evocative of bringing the outside in through scents, vessels and formats.
Some of the leading companies in the sector reveal their newest launches for the coming season.
IN THE MOOD
The home fragrance marketplace is continuing to up its game, with more newness and innovation than ever. However, this year especially, there’s a strong emotional connection to fragrance, as suppliers explain.
“For AW26, we see home fragrance being driven by the idea of ritual - not just how a home smells, but how fragrance helps set a mood, create atmosphere and make everyday moments feel more intentional,” says FYG’s founder and owner, Demi Pendakis. “Customers are increasingly looking for scents that feel personal, design-led and emotionally resonant, whether that’s something warm and cocooning for an evening in, something bright and uplifting to reset a room, or a scent that brings back a memory of a particular place, season or feeling.”
He predicts that AW26 will be about contrast, linking with FYG’s new Signature Collection, a core collection of five perfumeryled fragrances created for modern interiorsRouge Lychee, Velvet Ember, Citrus Verve, Arctic Lotus and Chestnut Cashmerespanning juicy fruits, smoky citrus, clean woods, crisp mint, marine lotus, incense warmth, cashmere woods
and soft leather. “They give retailers a rounded scent wardrobe for different rooms, moods and gifting occasions,” explains Demi.
The company’s Signature candles and diffusers also include Your Signature Markthree matt-black mood labels inside each box, allowing customers to choose the label that best reflects the scent, the room or the moment.
A key new format for the company is FYG Candle Pearls. “They’re a reusable, sustainable alternative to a traditional candle,” says Demi. “Customers pour the pearls into any heat-safe vessel, add a wick, light and enjoy, then refresh or restyle the pearls again and again. They’re compatible with FYG fragrance oils across our Back to Basics range, making them ideal for fragrance layering, gifting and customers who want to style home fragrance around their own interiors.”

At Best Kept Secrets (BKS), the recently launched The Secret Collection is a luxuryinspired candle range designed to capture the essence of iconic fine fragrances at an accessible price point. Inspired by the growing demand for ‘inspired by’ culture within the fragrance industry, the collection offers sophisticated, trend-led scents that allow consumers to experience their favourite scents within their everyday spaces.
“The range reflects the shift towards elevated home fragrance, moving beyond traditional seasonal candles and into curated scent experiences that feel indulgent, comforting and evoke memories and feelings,” says Best Kept Secrets’ managing director Vanessa Curry. “Each fragrance has been developed to evoke the atmosphere of expensive skin scents, luxury interiors and designer-inspired perfumes.”
Positioned within the growing ‘luxury for less’ movement, Vanessa highlights that the collection is heavily influenced by current social media and lifestyle trends, where influencers and consumers are embracing affordable alternatives to high-end products without compromising on aesthetic or fragrance quality.
“With its elegant identity and trenddriven fragrance direction, The Secret Collection delivers an attainable sense of everyday luxury, allowing customers to recreate the ambience of their favourite designer perfumes and luxury destinations within the home,” Vanessa states.
that rich seasonal shades are expected to trend strongly, including deep amber, warm neutrals, earthy browns, forest greens, smoked glass and elegant black tones.
“Decorative vessels are becoming increasingly important, with customers looking for products that not only smell beautiful but also complement modern interiors,” he continues.
“Gold detailing and premium packaging also continue to perform well, especially for gifting during the Autumn/Winter season.”
Highlighting that fragrance trends continue to be heavily influenced by famous perfume houses, he says that consumers are drawn to familiar, sophisticated scents for the home. “Warm woods, amber, vanilla, sandalwood, oud, dark fruits and soft florals are all expected to remain popular for AW26,” he states, “with these trends reflected throughout our Maison Parfum collection, which includes over 400 products across a variety of sizes and formats.
Concurs Jonny Greves, director, Lesser & Pavey: “For Autumn/Winter 2026, we’re seeing strong demand for home fragrance products that combine stylish design with premium-inspired scents. Consumers are continuing to focus on creating warm, comforting spaces at home, especially during the colder months.”
In terms of vessels and colours, Jonny says
Multi-category Gifting
From 50ml diffuser sets
to 2L statement diffusers, alongside candles, room sprays and gift sets, the range has been designed to offer strong fragrance performance, stylish presentation and excellent gifting appeal. Additionally, larger format diffusers are also becoming a major trend within the category, with our 1L diffuser currently proving to be one of the most popular sizes, combining strong visual impact
Candlelight’s AW26 launch combines candles, diffusers and bath and body essentials into cohesive giftboxed formats designed to merchandise together in-store. Inspired by wellness, nature and elevated gifting, the launch of the company’s Hummingbird collection has been designed to merge home fragrance and personal care, with the range offering coordinated products across both categories, creating a complete gifting story for retailers and consumers. “It’s been designed to feel stylish, calming and easy to gift,” explains head of sales, Kate Winch.
She says that AW26 fragrance trends will continue to focus on comforting and mood-enhancing scents, with warm amber, soft vanilla, sandalwood and delicate botanical notes expected to dominate the season. “These fragrances are paired with elegant vessels featuring textured glass, soft matt finishes and reusable decorative styling, reflecting wider interior trends for calming, cocooning spaces.”
Adds Kate: “Consumers are increasingly seeking gift-ready wellness products that feel luxurious yet accessible, driving demand for coordinated collections and multi-category gifting.”
with long-lasting fragrance performance.” Traditional Autumn/Winter fragrances too, are continuing to trend. “Fragrancing continues to remain important in our Homes & Gifts Autumn ’26 offering, with our focus being our well-loved boxed scented candle pots,” states Gisela Graham’s commercial director, Mark Jones.
New for the season are Pumpkin/Squash (Spiced Pumpkin and Patchouli); Burgundy Floral (Blackberry and Bay) and Teal Floral (Bergamot and Green Pear).

“One of the strongest directions we’re seeing is a return to nostalgic comfort, particularly during the Autumn/Winter season,” says Lucy Vernon, founder of The Tipsy Candle Co. “For us, that sits naturally with our cocktail-inspired world - favourite drinks, cosy evenings, celebrations and scents that instantly evoke memories and moments. It’s about atmosphere and how a product makes you feel.”
For AW26, the company will be focusing on taking the fun, recognisable character of cocktailinspired fragrance and giving it a warmer, more interior-led seasonal feel, with new fragrances launching at Harrogate Home & Gift, alongside a first reed diffuser collection. Wellbeing too, continues to be a strong trend. “People are looking for products that help them feel better, not just look better,” says Cotton & Grey’s co-founder Claire Sowden. “Wellbeing, ritual and emotional self-care are increasingly important, with consumers seeking products that do more than simply look or smell good. They want small moments of calm, pause and restoration built into everyday life.”
slow the world and take a little time for yourself. For Autumn/Winter, this feels especially relevant as present buying becomes more thoughtful and people look for meaningful ways to gift. We will also be launching a new pattern range at Harrogate Home & Gift that’s been designed to refresh our collections and offer retailers something new for the season.”
Cereria Mollá 1899 meanwhile, has introduced a new premium home fragrance range, Wellness, inspired by the neuroscience of scent, and by the recognised relationship between scent, the brain and emotional atmosphere.
Structured around six distinct Wellbeing Worlds - Energise, Relax & Sleep, Happiness, Uplifting, Calm & Serenity, and De-Stressfragrance formats include reed diffusers, scented candles, fragrance oils and home perfume/ pillow mists, designed to support different daily rituals, spaces and moments.
Continues Claire: “This is at the heart of what we do. Our Twenty Minute Candles are gift driven products that offer a simple wellbeing ritual: light a pure beeswax candle,
That Festive Feeling
At The Fragrance House, ceo David Brown says that consumers are continuing to invest in products that help make everyday spaces feel warmer, calmer and more luxurious, particularly during the Autumn/Winter months.
“Within our Wellness range, we’ve seen ongoing interest in fragrances designed to help create calm, balance and relaxation in the home, reflecting the wider consumer focus on self-care and mindful living.
“Fragrancewise, we expect richer seasonal blends to remain key, with warm indulgent
Cereria Mollá 1899 has unveiled its Christmas 2026 collection, a premium, limited-edition range designed to capture the emotion, nostalgia and warmth of the festive season through fragrance-led storytelling and elevated gifting.
“Christmas has always been at the heart of our brand - it’s a season built on emotion, memory and the power of scent,” states Santiago Mollá, ceo of Cereria Mollá 1899. “With the 2026 collection, we wanted to elevate that experience even further, introducing new fragrances such as Salted Caramel.”
Salted Caramel is supported by two returning festive bestsellers, Gingerbread Madeleine and Mountain Pine, with the trio offering a balanced fragrance wardrobe across gourmand, spicy and fresh scent families.
Max Benjamin is also expanding its seasonal offering with an extended collection of fragrance-led gifting and home ambience products.
“Returning for the season is our signature Cloves & Cinnamon fragrance, available across classic candle formats and presented in festive red packaging tailored for gifting,” says the company’s UK & Europe sales director, Richard Wood.
“A key focus for AW26 is creating warmth, light and atmosphere within the home, reflected in the launch of several new gift-led collections to include two new trio mini candle gift sets.”
The collection will also include a three-wick candle in Cloves & Cinnamon, designed to serve as a premium decorative, festive centrepiece.
Adds Richard: “Gift sets meanwhile, continue to sit at the core of our seasonal strategy with candle and diffuser sets and hand and body wash and lotion gift sets available in Lemongrass & Ginger, French Linen Water and White Pomegranate.”
notes, soft spices, woods and comforting aromatherapy-inspired fragrances all performing strongly. Customers are increasingly drawn to fragrances that feel nostalgic and cocooning, while still offering a sophisticated, premium feel.”
He adds that there is also continued growth in alternative home fragrance formats beyond traditional candles.
“Within our Waxkind collection, wax melts continue to perform exceptionally well due to their affordability, collectability and strong fragrance throw, while alcohol-free reed diffusers are gaining momentum as consumers increasingly look for longer-lasting, lower-maintenance fragrance solutions.”
With a wealth of cosy, nostalgic fragrances and premium scents leading the way, retailers, and their customers, are going to be spoilt for choice.

ELEGANCE, STYLE, SOPHISTICATION
Among the exhibitors at the inaugural The London Home Fragrance Show, (July 9 and 10 at the Business Design Centre), will be Millefiori Milano, (stand 28), which will be unveiling the company’s signature range in true Italian style, along with a Christmas offering of fragrances and gift sets.
At the helm is Sarah Allard-Morgan, Millefiori Milano’s newly appointed managing director for the UK and Ireland, who is eager to bring the evocative scent of Milan’s style and sophistication to the show and to retailers.
Mention the word “Milano” and instantly, images of the magnificent Duomo, the exclusive Galleria. the high end Rinascente department store, and global luxury brands on the famous Via Monte Napoleone, spring to mind. Regarded as one of the four fashion capitals of the world, Milan exudes a unique style and sophistication which is reflected in its home fragrance too, where Millefiori Milano is among the leading brands.
“For Millefiori Milano, the emphasis on design is key, with a focus on how the brand will fit in with interior designers, artists, fashion and furniture brands, as well as home and gift retailers,” explains Sarah AllardMorgan, the company’s newly appointed managing director for the UK and Ireland.
Having started out as a buyer for six home, gift and interior stores in the North of England, where home fragrance was very much a part of the product mix, she jumped at the opportunity to work for Yankee Candle as an area sales manager some 20 years ago. “As the brand grew in the UK, I worked in many sales roles the last one being commercial director for EMEA,” she
explains. It was during this period that she started working with Millefiori Milano, firstly under Jarden and then Newell.
More recently, Sarah held the positions of UK&I sales director at Newell, managing a multi-brand portfolio, a position she held for two and a half years, before being appointed managing director directly by Millefiori Milano earlier this year, with a remit of relaunching the brand into the UK market.
“Today, my role involves me working directly with the brand, and with the head office in Milan, who are extremely supportive,” highlights Sarah. “There is a team to support the growth of the brand in the UK, alongside the finance, marketing, design and management teams. This gives us access to all the assets, design and product development, and it’s this support that’s enabling myself and my team of agents to make a very real impact in the UK market.”
She says that what gives Millefiori its USP is its standout Italian design heritage. “The brand oozes style and sophistication with its clean lines and design-led focus, born at the heart of Milan’s fashion and design

environment. It’s Millefiori Milano’s unrivalled elegance that makes it stand out in the UK’s busy home fragrance offering.”
Emotional Connection
Of all of Millefiori Milano’s home fragrance products, a special one that Sarah personally has an emotional tie with is the brand’s Milano Collection. “It’s a newly designed, updated collection, with a beautiful range of colourways and fragrances in reed diffusers. It’s the signature range that I’m proudly taking to the UK market, so this is a special one for me.”
Having been out of the market for the past three years, what’s behind the decision to bring the Millefiori Milano brand back to the UK this year? “The company saw an opportunity to grow market share due to the unique look and feel of the brand,” explains Sarah. “There really isn’t anything like it in the UK market. Millefiori Milano also offers unique fragrance blends across the seasons, thereby delivering a further point of difference.”
So how will Sarah be taking the brand forward in the UK over the next six to 12 months? “The gift retail sector is obviously very important to the brand, as is being featured alongside other home fragrance brands. It’s good for retailers to have diversity in their offering and for consumers to have choice. Currently, we are talking to key interior retailers and, I will also be connecting with my previous customers.”
Key launches for Autumn/Winter 2026 feature a striking statement piece which will be launching with an iconic 3 litre Magnum reed diffuser. “The Milano Double Magnum reed diffuser is a real showstopper with the same refined silhouette and features as the Milano Collection,” she explains.
For the coming season there are two new fragrances launching. Nottumo, an intimate, ‘dusk to night’ fragrance, features a rich blue colourway with a woody scent that has top notes of lemon & ginger with orange blossom & date, while Vaniglia Bianca features a butter yellow colourway with a sweet vanilla blend featuring notes of almond, coconut milk, black pepper, saffron and nutmeg.
The London Home Fragrance Show is the only event that the company will be exhibiting at this year, but next year, Millefiori Milano will be showcasing its latest launches at Spring Fair 2027. “This year, we wanted to be at a London show so we’re excited to see how the attendance shapes up at the debut The London Home Fragrance Show,” says Sarah.
“Our stand is going to be fabulous, and we’re excited to be able to showcase the Millefiore Milano Collection signature range where, for the first time, it will be seen in its entirety in the UK, alongside our Christmas offering of fragrances and gift sets with seasonal scents.
The new look inspired gift boxes, available in two sizes, and at different price points, offer an olfactory story featuring bespoke illustrations of Milan’s three most iconic buildings - the Duomo, Galleria and Navigliduring the festive season. Each features a different colour palette and products, plus three fragrances, to include two new fragrances launched for Christmas 2026: Zucchero & Vaniglia, a blend of gingerbread and sugar cane top notes with sandalwood, acacia honey and marzipan, and Oro & Spezie with top notes of saffron and candid orange, followed by salted caramel & pastry cream with a base of tonka bean & sandalwood.
In addition, an existing fragrance joins the gift set offering - Mela & Cannella featuring top notes of sparkling green apple teamed with cinnamon, nutmeg & clove - with the reuseable boxes elevating the gift giving experience. Each box, featuring premium packaging and bespoke illustrations by a local Italian artist, also contains a gift card mirroring the outer box illustration. Comments Sarah: “It completes the gift experience.”
Milan. The store featured his artwork, with the brand currently looking for further collaborations with artists, designers and brands that align with the design heritage of Millefiori Milano.
Looking ahead to the rest of the year, what does Sarah see as the challenges? “Currently, it’s ensuring that we are getting to the right retailers with the right products. Also, all stock is currently coming from Italy, so we need to consider this operationally. Other than that, no real challenges. I’m just excited to get out there with the Millefiori Milano brand!”

l Which three words best describe you? “Professional, driven and passionate.”
l Careerwise, was there a plan B? “Yes, to open an interior home fragrance store. I always wanted to be in the gift, interiors and home fragrance market, so if I hadn’t been able fulfil that with a brand I would have opened a shop.”
l What do you love most about working in the home fragrance sector? ”It’s such a nice industry to be in. Great people, great products and feelgood fragrances.”

If there’s one gift sector that’s seen exponential growth in recent years it has to be beauty, bath and body. What’s clear from suppliers is that self-care rituals are driving the marketplace, with fragrance, feelings, ingredients, packaging and affordable luxury all playing their part. PG&H looked at what will be driving sales as we head into Autumn.
TAKE GOOD CARE
It’s often the small things that count – the ‘just because’ purchases that are gaining traction this year – a scented, giftwrapped bar of soap with calming properties, a handwash, a special body lotion or a hand cream that encourages someone who’s feeling stressed to relax and enjoy the moment.
products that do more than simply look beautiful on a shelf, helping customers to reset, unwind, uplift or create a moment of calm in their day.
At FYG, owner and director, Demi Pendakis, says that the sector is being driven by the growing desire for everyday wellbeing rituals,
“Scent is central to this,” he states. “We have always believed that fragrance is closely linked to emotion, memory and mood, and we are seeing customers increasingly look for bath and body products that feel personal, sensorial and giftable. Beauty is definitely becoming much more about how a product makes you feel.”
Continues Demi: “This links with our FYG Bath & Body Collection, which bring our signature Back to Basics fragrances into everyday self-care formats, including luxury hand creams, Himalayan bath salts, mini bath bombs and hand and body wash and lotion. The range uses fragrance stories that can help people feel relaxed, uplifted, restored or indulged.”
For Autumn/Winter, FYG is
continuing to build on this emotional, fragrance-led approach with seasonal scent stories that tap into nostalgia, comfort and gifting. “Our Christmas Edit, for example, includes evocative fragrances such as Ice Skating in the Park, Under the Mistletoe and Night Before Christmas, each created to capture magical festive moments through scent,” Demi explains. (A portion of profits from FYG’s Christmas Collection goes to When You Wish Upon a Star Children’s Charity).
“Brands that successfully blend strong pricing with design-led, collection-based thinking are best positioned to thrive in today’s competitive and experience-driven market,” says Candlelight’s head of sales, Kate Winch.

“The beauty, bath and body sector is currently being driven by a combination of elevated self-care habits, social media influence and a growing demand for thoughtful, giftable products,” she states.
“Consumers are no longer just buying for function, they are seeking experiences. This shift has placed strong emphasis on affordable luxury, where good pricing meets high perceived value, making competitive pricing strategies essential for brands aiming to capture both everyday users and gift buyers.”
Design-led packaging is central to this evolution, explains Kate, particularly when it aligns with home fragrance collections. “Bath and body ranges are being developed to sit cohesively within a broader lifestyle aesthetic. This means consistent colour palettes, materials and visual identities that mirror corresponding candles and home scents. The result is a unified look that enhances both in-store presentation and at-home styling, encouraging customers to see these products as part of a curated environment rather than individual purchases.
“Gift sets that combine complementary items - such as body wash, lotion and mistoffer convenience while increasing perceived value, creating a more immersive and considered gifting experience. When bath and body ranges are designed to sit alongside our home fragrance collections, it makes it easy for consumers to buy into a complete lifestyle, not just a single product.”
that elevate simple daily rituals such as bathing, hand care and home pampering, without feeling unattainable. That’s particularly relevant in gifting, where customers want products that feel thoughtful, indulgent and beautifully made.”
He continues: “For Heyland & Whittle, this shift plays directly into the strengths of the brand. Our cold-processed soaps represent a more traditional way of making soap, using high-quality ingredients such as
coconut oil, shea butter, essential oils and natural exfoliants, with sustainability continuing to influence purchasing decisions, especially within independent retail. Customers are also looking
ingredient sourcing and longevity of products, with retailers curating ranges that align with those values.”
According to The Fragrance House Group director, David Brown, one of the biggest drivers in the sector is consumers becoming far more ingredient-conscious and intentional with their purchases.
“People are looking for products that feel authentic, handmade and genuinely beneficial, rather than overly massproduced,” he confirms.
“We’re also seeing strong growth products
Meg Hawkins, founder and ceo of her eponymous company, concurs: “What makes bath and body so special now is that it’s not just about what it does, but how it makes you feel. When we design our bath and body range, we always come back to the idea that gifting these products is, in many gifting time. It’s that small nudge to slow down — a moment to take care of yourself, breathe and enjoy something that feels just a little bit special. Whether it’s a hand cream in your bag or a hand wash by the sink, it’s about those everyday pauses we often forget to take. We’re also really mindful of how products sit in the home.
quite neutral, so that they don’t feel intrusive but still look beautiful and striking in any space.”
Points out Meg: “Traditionally, it’s been quite a female-led market, but we’re definitely seeing more men taking care of grooming and self-care too, which is naturally opening the category up.”
Lesser & Pavey director, Jonny Greves, concurs that thoughtful gifting remains a key factor, with shoppers choosing products that feel personal, useful and beautifully presented. “This plays strongly to our strengths,” he highlights “Our collections are designed to meet these needs, combining quality products with eye-catching, giftable packaging. In today’s market, presentation is just as important as the product itself, and customers are drawn to items that look special while still offering great value for money.
“Our ranges featuring William Morris designs continue to perform particularly well,” he continues. “The classic patterns and rich colours have a timeless appeal and work

especially well for the Autumn/Winter season when customers naturally gravitate towards warmer, more indulgent products.”
Looking ahead, he says the company’s new launches build on this success, with a continued focus on design, strong shelf appeal and affordability. “We aim to offer retailers easy-to-sell, gift-ready products that customers can enjoy themselves or give to others and, with the sector showing no signs of slowing, we are well placed to support demand.”
At Mad Beauty, creative director, Julia Cash, points to a blend of emotional connection, intentional spending and a growing demand for innovation as well as key trends which are also shaping Autumn/Winter launches.
“Innovation remains a key differentiator, particularly within bath and body. Our upcoming collections, to include Winnie the Pooh, will introduce brand new moulded characters and charms across bath and body products, alongside interactive features such as a UV-operated advent calendar and pop-out packaging. In particular, our upcoming Harry Potter collection will showcase this creativity, bringing together immersive design and engaging product formats.
“Shoppers are increasingly focused on value and purpose, seeking products that combine self-care with functionality. Our upcoming collections respond to this through reusable, refillable and multi-functional elements, ensuring products deliver both practicality and the feelgood factor.”
cooking. Plus, the aromatic Purple Basil scent in the collection’s Post Gardening Tin body care set not only smells beautiful, but has proven wellbeing enhancing qualities.”
Citrus too, is also having a moment according to Lesley. “With Lemon soap already part of Bronnley’s heritage, the citrus story is continuing with the revival of the brand’s Lime soap harnessing the benefits of citrus vitamin C and yuzu peel extract. The accompanying Lime body wash nods to the skinification of body care which shows no signs of slowing,” adds Lesley.
Two further trends in the sector are highlighted by Lesley Aaronson, creative director of Bronnley and William Morris At Home. “New fragrance technologies with practical benefits, as well as holistic, are being harnessed in body products,” says Lesley. “For example, William Morris At Home’s new Kitchen Garden collection, which includes a hand wash and lotion set, features a fresh, Sunlit Tomato scent with odour-neutralising technology to refresh people’s hands after

says that customers are increasingly looking for pieces that bring a sense of mood, escapism and everyday luxury into the home.
“For us, both our Picnic House and Pour & Gather collections, from our new brand Floh, tap into that shift towards more emotionally driven gifting. There’s a real appetite for products that feel joyful, relaxed and easy to gift.
“We’re also seeing
“The beauty, bath and body sector is currently driven by a shift towards sensorial self-care rituals,” says Inis’ sales manager, Elaine Nolan. “Bathing is being reframed as a mood-regulating ritual that uses texture and fragrance to enhance mental wellbeing. This was central to the development of our recent Inis Haircare range which includes shampoo, conditioner and Sea Salt Spray with the nourishing and replenishing power of sea minerals at its core.”
customers respond well to collections which create a strong visual story in-store. The crossover between bath and body and interiors and fashion continues to be strong, with a continued move towards uplifting, optimistic colour palettes and packaging that feels display-worthy within both in store displays and in the home.”
Looking ahead to Autumn/Winter, the company has launched six new ranges, with the Floh collections building on themes of warmth, comfort and the joy of social gatherings. Toasted Crumpet meanwhile, continues to draw botanical inspiration from the world around us and natural surroundings.
“Both brands have seasonal collections designed to feel inviting, layered and easy to mix and match for both gifting and in-store merchandising,” Jo confirms.
It seems that self-care is no longer an option but a must for people, with suppliers remaining dedicated to delivering innovative, high-quality products that not only enhance wellbeing but elevate the everyday.
