THE YOUTH QUOTIENT LEADING INDIA’S POPULATION INTO PROSPERITY

Dr. Manimekalai Mohan, founder of the SSVM Group of Schools, leads a vibrant educational community with 17 branches offering CBSE, IB, Cambridge International, Tamil Nadu State Board (Matriculation), and NIOS curricula. While the Coimbatore branches primarily serve as day schools, the flagship SSVM Residential School in Mettupalayam brings together students from across India and the world, fostering not only academic excellence but also responsibility, compassion, and leadership.

India's population has reached 1.46 billion in 2025, cementing its position as the world's most populous nation, even as its fertility rate continues to decline, according to the United Nations Population Fund's (UNFPA) ‘State of World Population Report 2025’. Dr. Mohan sees India’s demographic milestone not as a burden to bear, but as a gateway to unprecedented possibilities. She shares insights on how quality education turns great numbers into greater responsibility.

India has crossed a population of 1.46 billion. How should today’s youth interpret this milestone?

This isn’t a crisis to fear, but a call to action. India now holds the world’s largest powerhouse of human potential and youth are at the very heart of it. Young people must view it as an unparalleled opportunity to rewrite narratives of poverty, inequality, unemployment and

underdevelopment. The youth must step forward not just as dreamers, but as doers who believe that change doesn’t wait, it begins with them.

What does “With great numbers come greater responsibility” mean in practical terms for students?

It means recognising that scale magnifies impact. In a school of 5000, if each child picks up one piece of litter, the entire campus shines. But if each drops one, it turns into chaos. Students must understand their power in collective action - whether it’s reducing waste, fighting misinformation, helping a struggling classmate, or speaking up for justice. With big numbers on our side,

even small efforts become movements. Responsibility isn’t about perfection; it’s about participation - engaged, ethical, and empathetic participation in shaping a better India, together.

How can students develop the mindset needed to transform India’s population potential into a force for global good?

In a nation of over 1.46 billion, the question isn’t “How do I stand out?” but “What do I stand for?” Students must shift from chasing marks to seeking meaning. The real task is to unlock it through education that sharpens intellect, empathy, and purpose. India’s youth is its greatest advantage, if educated and awakened.

What role do educators and parents play in helping youth embrace their responsibility in this context?

True education begins before school and lasts a lifetime. In every corner of India, from metro cities to the smallest villages, families must realise that education isn’t about producing toppers, but cherishing ethical, thoughtful individuals. Teachers must mentor, not instruct, personalising learning to inspire every child’s unique potential. Education must connect to life embracing the environment, economy, and empathy. When homes and schools encourage both intellect and character, we raise responsible citizens who uplift society through every thought, action, and dream.

What message would you like to leave for India’s youth?

You’re not inheriting a nation - you’re shaping it. Let this population milestone remind you that your generation is the most powerful India has ever seen, not just in size but in potential. Let your choices reflect courage, your curiosity drive innovation, and your values lead with kindness. Seek excellence, not just achievement; pursue impact, not just titles. The world is watching. Great numbers call for greater accountability. So, be the generation that turned numbers into a legacy.

GOING

DUTCH

T hrough mirrored waters and gabled roofs, A msterdam, the Netherlands' capital, unfolds a floating poem of light, history, and time etched i n gentle motion.

The year was 1672. French cannons thundered across flooded fields as Louis XIV's 120,000-strong army pressed forward like a steel tide. Amsterdam was under attack and the Dutch Republic seemed to be crumbling. City after city had fallen. Now, the forces stood at Amsterdam's very gates, victory within their grasp.

But Amsterdam's burghers smiled. They opened every dike, every sluice, and every water gate their ancestors had built. The earth groaned. The sea answered. Gradually, an impassable

lake surrounded their city, and one of the mightiest armies in Europe found itself staring helplessly across the water that had, once again, become Amsterdam's salvation.

Today, as boats whisper through the same canals, past the towering gabled mansions of the merchants who commanded this watery fortress, you're not just sightseeing. You're floating through the arteries of a city that turned water into power, marshland into gold, and survival into legend.

Front-row View

I ndiGo to AMSTERDAM www.goIndiGo.in

These liquid avenues offer a front-row seat to Amsterdam’s timeless charm. The gentle hum of boats gliding along the canals sends ripples through the glassy reflections of gabletopped façades and arched bridges mirrored in the water. The whir of wheels clattering over cobblestones and the tinkle of bells announce the passage of bicycles, streaming past with fresh flowers and rosy-faced children in tow.

But this is not a scene from history; these canals are very much alive. They are the spine and soul of Amsterdam — an unfolding story etched into water.

The History

The tale begins modestly in the 13th century when a dam was built across the Amstel River, giving birth to “Amstelredamme.” But the true transformation of this marshy land came between the 16th and 17th centuries during the Dutch Golden Age.

Fanning out in concentric semicircles, the Grachtengordel or "Canal Belt" was a

masterstroke of engineering and urban planning. It was designed to manage water, facilitate trade and transport, and accommodate a growing city. Today, Amsterdam Canal District is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site — celebrated as much for its innovation as for its elegance and enduring utility.

The outer Singelgracht, once lined with ramparts and windmills and now home to the renowned Rijksmuseum, encircles the city’s historic heart — a living museum where every canal has a story to tell and every bridge is a portal into another world.

Time Travel

To truly understand Amsterdam, you have to experience the city from the water — as it was meant to be seen. Drifting along the canals feels like slipping back through time, as if turning the pages of a history book written in water.

Each canal unravels a new ribbon of the city’s narrative. One of the grandest, the Herengracht or "Gentlemen’s Canal," is still lined with the ancient mansions of Dutch elites and wealthy

THE CANALS ARE THE SPINE AND SOUL OF AMSTERDAM; AN UNFOLDING STORY ETCHED IN WATER.

merchants. Tilting houses lean together like old friends, whispering secrets of the past. Hooks still hang from their gabled rooftops, relics of an era when goods were hoisted directly from barges below.

Keizersgracht, the “Emperor’s Canal,” is one of the widest, lined with houseboats — each with its own story and charm. Sometimes during winter, when temperatures dip low enough, some canals freeze, creating an ice rink. Skaters lace up their boots and glide beneath bridges. In summer, the water bursts to life with vessels of all kinds — sleek saloon boats ferrying wide-eyed tourists, kayaks and paddleboards cutting through the ripples, and party boats drifting lazily.

Then there’s the Prinsengracht, named after the Prince of Orange. This picturesque waterway winds past the soaring spire of the Westerkerk, which stands guard over the final resting place of Rembrandt (renowned Dutch painter Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn). It also passes the sombre yet profoundly moving Anne Frank House, and the bohemian district of Jordaan, where antique shops and cafés spill out onto sun-drenched terraces.

Along the Amstel River, the city’s namesake, stands the Magere Brug or “Skinny Bridge," named after two sisters who lived on either side of the river. Still creaking open for taller ships in a timeless display of artistry and engineering, the bridge holds a romantic legend: a kiss shared here is said to seal eternal love.

As dusk falls, the city transforms again. Strings of lights wrap around bridges and archways, their twinkling reflections scattered across the water like upside-down constellations. As I lean back and watch the city ripple by, I realise: this isn’t just a way to see Amsterdam — this is Amsterdam.

To cruise these canals is to flow through the veins of the city itself — not as a distant spectator, but as part of its living, breathing masterpiece.

From Pitch to Plate

I n the quiet hum of Amsterdam, cricketer

Suresh Raina’s memories bloom — a decade of love and flavour. For Hello 6E, he turns guide.

Indian cricket legend Suresh Raina's heart beats for Amsterdam – and it's a love story spanning almost a decade. What began as romantic visits to see his banker wife Priyanka has blossomed into something extraordinary – Raina Indian Restaurant. Here are a few of his favourite things...

The Connect

Since 2016, Amsterdam has been calling me back. The culture, landscapes, and infectious energy – they resonate with me. The warmth of Amsterdammers is magical - I see families cycling together, kids on adventures, and friends playing soccer. Their zest for life is contagious.

Our summer house in the city serves as the perfect sanctuary from daily pressures. But Amsterdam's deepest significance for me, is that my daughter Gracia was born here.

When Priyanka and I opened Raina Indian Restaurant in 2023, we wanted to share authentic Indian flavours and give fellow Indians a taste of home. It was our heartfelt thank you to the city that embraced us.

The Offbeat

Beyond the canals, I love discovering Amsterdam's hidden gems. The Goat Farm Ridammerhoeve in Amsterdamse Bos is magical. Here, you can watch how craft cheese and ice cream are whipped from goat milk. Fresh fruits and vegetables can be bought from the many farmers' markets across the city, where growers share passionate stories about their organic produce. Like true Amsterdammers, we've embraced the cycling culture – there's no better way to explore secret corners. And when we crave complete tranquility, we escape to Giethoorn, a fairytale village just a little more than an hour away from Amsterdam.

The Meal

I've developed quite a weakness for Dutch croquettes – those crispy, deepfried delights are irresistible! The locals' love for fresh vegetables and vibrant salads has rubbed off on me too. Besides, Amsterdam's fine dining scene never fails to impress us.

NORTH STAR

M anchester in the UK doesn’t just welcome you; it leaves a mark . As industrial echoes meet indie beats, the city hums with history, soul, and swagger.

Manchester doesn't just welcome visitors. It envelops them in a whirlwind of sound, history, and raw urban energy that's impossible to shake. This powerhouse in northern England has transformed itself from being the cradle of the Industrial Revolution into a cultural juggernaut that pulses with creativity and an infectious confidence that makes even the most jaded traveller take notice.

Wheeling through the City Manchester's true character emerges not from tourist maps but from the passionate stories of locals who live and breathe the city's rhythm. The Manchester Taxi Tour transforms the humble black cab into a portal for discovery, with expert guides serving as both driver and storyteller extraordinaire. Whether passengers crave tales of underground musical rebellion, football glory, industrial innovation, or street art scenes, the guides craft each journey to match their curiosities. This isn't merely transportation; it's education wrapped in entertainment, complete with the option of afternoon tea served at 30 miles per hour through the city's beating heart.

Where Music Legends are Born

Manchester's musical DNA runs so deep that experiencing live music here feels less like entertainment and more like participating in a cultural ritual. The city flexes its acoustic muscles through two colossal venues that dominate the UK's indoor arena scene: the cutting-edge Co-op Live and the established AO Arena. These architectural behemoths regularly host some of the biggest names, creating electric atmospheres that transform ordinary evenings into unforgettable memories.

M anchester United legend Nemanja Vidic's guide to city life and Old Trafford magic.

Manchester, the heartbeat of music and English football, pulses with love for the Red Devils; it is where Nemanja Vidić once reigned supreme as Manchester United's legendary captain. Manchester breathes football through every cobblestone - from the roaring energy of Old Trafford to the deep-rooted culture that lives and breathes football. Here's what the Red Devils legend recommends!

The Pilgrimage

To arrive at Old Trafford, home to the Manchester United Football Club, is nothing short of a pilgrimage for most fans. Walking on this sacred ground is an honour granted to very few people. For a player, even after losses, you feel the stadium's energy. Fans support the club whether winning or losing - players can sense this unwavering loyalty. I recall when we won our first title, and then the second - the atmosphere made us believe we'd keep winning. It gave us confidence! Few stadiums possess such a rich history. You might sit in a seat where the previous occupant witnessed Manchester United lift 15 or 20 trophies. Modern stadiums lack soul, but Old Trafford delivers that indefinable spirit in abundance.

Manchester has evolved tremendously since my playing days. I lived in nearby Cheshire, which offered great family opportunities. Though I rarely ventured into town, it had excellent restaurants and bars where we celebrated our trophy wins (between 2006 and 2014, we won 15 major honours, including five Premier League titles, three League Cups, five FA Community Shields, the Champions League, and Club World Cup).

Manchester is equally well-known for its music scene. There's a lot to explore beyond football.

The Meal Pizza! But it's not usually part of our diet. However, after a great match, I'd reward myself with one.

F rom the zingy zest of basil to the umami depth of fish sauce, Vietnam's flavours embody the soul of the nation. W e take you on a taste trail of the country, starting from Da Nang, a coastal paradise, where culinary traditions come alive.

The aromatic essence of lemongrass, the distinctive pungency of fish sauce, and the vibrant freshness of herbs may represent mere culinary components to many; however, for Vietnamese people, these elements evoke profound narratives rooted in the diverse regions of our homeland. They constitute the very essence of home itself.

I was born in bustling Da Nang, a tropical, seaside paradise in Central Vietnam, where heritage whispers in every nook. The flavours here speak in bold strokes — salty, spicy,

sour — sometimes all at once, but always in balance. In Vietnam, each region guards its culinary secrets jealously, passed down through generations who knew that the perfect balance of fish sauce, fresh herbs, and timing could turn simple ingredients into pure magic.

Like in most Vietnamese households, my mother never followed written recipes. She cooked by memory, by instinct, and by feeling. She would say culinary traditions are not taught but learnt by observation.

Central Vietnam is a region of contrasts — mountains rising behind us, the sea stretching in front, and royal history interwoven with the rhythms of everyday life. That geographical and cultural complexity is reflected in the cuisine, where each dish tells a story of this duality. Dishes like mì quang, the golden noodles from Quang Nam, exemplify this philosophy perfectly — they are simple in appearance but layered with cultural meaning. Despite its appearance, mì quang is not just a soup. There's just a small ladle of

broth, carefully measured to be enough to coat the turmeric-tinted noodles and bind the toppings together. Fresh shrimp, tender meat, crushed peanuts, aromatic herbs, and crispy sesame rice crackers add a textural contrast. The crunchy greens are not merely garnish but essential components to balance the flavours.

Then there's cao lâu, which you'll primarily find in neighbouring Hoi An. The noodles are special – chewy and earthy, with a texture that speaks of centuries-old tradition. They're made using traditional lye water made from local tree ash, and water drawn from the ancient Bá Lê well, a process that has remained unchanged for generations. It's tough to replicate, no matter how hard restaurants elsewhere try to. The flavour is so deeply tied to the place, rooted in the very soil and water of this ancient town, that it's almost sacred – a culinary expression of terroir that binds the dish forever to its birthplace.

Many restaurants in Vietnam, including establishments like Char, our grill house (located at Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang), pursue the elemental art of fire-based cooking. The combination of aromatic smoke, glowing embers, and pure salt creates an almost mystical culinary experience. We use authentic nu'ó'c châm, a fish sauce that has been carefully aged in traditional wooden barrels, completely free from artificial additives or preservatives. A superior fish sauce possesses

THE GEOGRAPHICAL AND CULTURAL COMPLEXITY OF CENTRAL VIETNAM IS REFLECTED IN ITS CUISINE, WHERE EACH DISH TELLS A STORY OF THIS DUALITY - SALTY, SPICY, SOUR, SOMETIMES ALL AT ONCE, BUT ALWAYS IN BALANCE.

• Mì quang – Central Vietnam’s signature noodle dish with turmeric broth, peanuts, fresh herbs, and a mix of meats or seafood.

• Bánh xèo – Crispy rice crepes filled with shrimp, meat, and bean sprouts; eaten wrapped in lettuce with herbs and dipped in nu'ó'c châm

the complexity of a vintage wine, carrying the distinctive essence of the coastal waters from which it originated. When we cook, we don't invent; we reveal the real flavours. We let the ingredients speak for themselves, honouring their inherent qualities rather than masking them with unnecessary complexity. Banana blossom salads showcase the tender crunch and subtle bitterness of the flower, while wild herbs carry the essence of mountain air and morning dew. Young jackfruit braised in coconut transforms the humble fruit into silk-textured indulgence.

Food in Vietnam is never just about flavour, it’s about togetherness. You never eat alone. You sit close, on low stools, passing plates and tearing herbs with your hands. Even on the street, that intimacy matters. Our food connects us, quietly and powerfully.

OF CREAM TEAS AND SUMMER FÊTES

M ira Kapoor adores London's timeless charm, strolling through parks and cherishing warm, happy moments with her family.

For wellness entrepreneur Mira Kapoor, travel is all about togetherness. "I love experiencing new places through the eyes of my children — it makes everything feel more magical and meaningful," says the quiet Delhi girl, who left behind a comfortable life in the capital to embrace the whirlwind of Bollywood after her marriage to Shahid Kapoor, one of the top stars of B-town.

Little wonder then that her favourite destination, London, would also be all about exploring and enjoying intimate moments with family. "One of my favourite memories of London is a quiet evening walk with the family along the Thames River, just as the sky turned dusky pink. It was one of those beautiful, grounding moments that stay with you long after the holiday ends," says Kapoor.

One of her favourite things to do in London is strolling through the local parks, which she finds incredibly joyful, "with the calm they offer

amidst a busy city." It is probably this same sense of calm that she hopes to replicate in her entrepreneurial venture – Dhun Wellness – nestled in the heart of Mumbai's bustling suburb of Bandra. “As someone who’s always lived in the city, I found it limiting that wellness was treated as something you had to travel far for, or only access occasionally. But true wellbeing should be part of your everyday rhythm, not a rare indulgence. That’s what inspired me to create Dhun Wellness,” she explains.

Entrepreneur

London has a timeless charm that always pulls me back. I love how the city blends history with a modern, eclectic energy. Whether it's wandering through the cobbled streets of Notting Hill, visiting vintage bookstores, sipping cream teas, or enjoying a day with the kids at Go ape, an adventure haven, a trip to London feels like stepping into a storybook,” Kapoor adds.

The UK Plan

Park-ed in the City

Kapoor loves exploring London parks with her family. "Whether it's a slow morning stroll through Hyde Park, a picnic in the Regent's Park, or just letting the kids run wild while the grown-ups sip coffee on a bench — these simple, quiet moments have a special place in my heart. It's where we really unwind and just be," she says.

Outside London, Kapoor finds the Stonehenge to be surreal. For her, it's more than a landmark — it's an experience. She finds it humbling to stand before the ancient stones and feel their quiet power. "Beyond that, I'd recommend a trip to Bath if you want to slow down — think vibrant history, a confluence of culture, and countryside charm," she says. And in London, she recommends exploring the art scene — Tate Modern and the Victoria and Albert Museum are her personal favourites.

Travel Musts

A lightweight sunscreen primer and a comfortable pair of walking shoes. “Bathing suits, always — whether it’s a spa day or a surprise hotel pool, I like to be ready,” she says. Kapoor also never misses to carry a shield spray for her hair. “It helps tame my hair when the weather does its own thing,” she smiles.

Walls Tell-Tale

S tep into Singapore's streets where vibrant urban art reveals the city's buried stories. One of the city’s pioneering mural artists, Yíp Yew Chong, takes us on a trip to view some of his artworks.

A 44-m long wall at the rear end of an ancient temple visually separates old Chinatown and Singapore's CBD. The wall also reveals Singapore's lesser-known history - painted junks carrying hopeful immigrants, who are sailing towards a temple that once faced the sea, before the glittering CBD rose from reclaimed land. You're standing on what used to be the sea. It's an unbelievable sight of contrast. This is Singapore's urban art revolution in action: walls that tell stories.

A decade ago, murals in Singapore were seen as vandalism. Today, they brighten streets with stories, culture, and colour. In heritage districts like Chinatown, Kampong Glam, and Little India, vibrant urban art reflects local traditions. Once taboo, these works are now celebrated - commissioned, embraced, and growing with public demand.

Art on the Street

Cluster hunting delivers the best urban art experience. Visit heritage districts where murals congregate within walking distance: Chinatown, Kampong Glam, Little India, and civic precincts offer maximum variety in styles, themes, and artists. You might catch urban artists or join impromptu walking tours. For bonus discoveries, venture into heartland neighbourhoods where lone masterpieces hide in unexpected corners.

The Underground Network

Take the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) to random stops, wander residential blocks, and peek around void decks. Singapore rewards urban explorers who venture beyond guidebook recommendations.

Pro tip: Visit early morning or late afternoon when shadows add drama and crowds thin out. You might catch an artist mid-brushstroke.

Beyond the Paint

Urban art here does triple duty: education, therapy, and time travel. Watch how locals interact with these walls; pointing out details to their kids, sharing stories with friends, and using murals as meeting spots. You're not just viewing art; you're witnessing culture in motion.

The locations aren't random either. Hightraffic corners maximise impact; heritage sites add historical weight. When art appears in these charged spaces, it creates conversations between past and present that you can literally walk through.

Yip's Story

Yip's journey as an urban artist started in 2015 - an accountant by trade with no portfolio, no formal training or credentials; just a burning desire to put fond memories from his childhood on the walls for all to see.

Growing up in Chinatown during the 1970s, he had witnessed Singapore's remarkable transformation from farmlands and dilapidated kampongs to a gleaming metropolis. Knocking on doors and asking strangers for a chance to paint their walls for free, changed everything.

The Real Singapore

Skip the manicured attractions. Singapore's soul lives in heartland markets, void deck gatherings, and coffee shop conversations painted on the walls. The murals show you what Singapore was before it became the city you're visiting - and locals will thank you for noticing.

In a place where yesterday's shophouse becomes tomorrow's skyscraper, urban art is Singapore's memory keeper. These walls remember what concrete jungles forget, preserving stories in the exact spots where they happened. You came to see Singapore. These murals will show you Singaporeans.

Hidden Gems

Beyond the art, lies layers of Singapore's stories, told by artists, and retold by visitors. Explore the streets, wander along the walls and discover the stories for yourself.

Smiles That Soar Beyond Limits

Every child deserves a dignified life and a second chance. That belief drives the work of ABMSS—India’s largest civil society organization dedicated to providing free and safe cleft lip and palate surgeries to children in need.

Founded on the belief that no child should endure the stigma of an untreated cleft, ABMSS has transformed over 46,000 lives across India. Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Dushyant Prasad, its network of skilled surgeons, anesthesiologists, and support teams delivers not just surgery, but hope, confidence, and a brighter future.

“As a board member of ABMSS, I am proud to champion access to safe, transformative cleft care that empowers every child to smile with dignity and confidence” says Dr. Chytra V Anand.

Reaching underserved communities is at the heart of ABMSS’s mission. Through outreach camps and partnerships with various state governments via the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), the organization ensures timely diagnosis and treatment, even in remote areas.

ABMSS’s commitment extends beyond surgery through a holistic care model that includes speech therapy, orthodontics, nutritional support, counselling, and a national cleft helpline. Flagship programs like “SkillDrill” and “Safety in the OT” ensure continuous training and top-tier patient safety.

In the words of Ameet Mirpuri, board member at ABMSS “At ABMSS, the right intention is always at the fo re front! The child is given a new life, the right to smile and live a normal and healthy life”!

“Currently operating in 15 states and treating near ly 5,000 cases yearly, is truly a humbling experien ce as the initial goal was to support just 1,000 surgeries a decade ago” notes Dr Ashish Shetty, Vice President of ABMSS.

As ABMSS marks more than a decade of dedicated service, its mission continues to grow. With a bold goal to reach every state in India and help 10,000 children each year, ABMSS invites you to join this lifechanging journey.

HOLIDAY SPEND?

Turn travel dreams into reality with smart financial planning.

SORTED

Planning a holiday should feel like reading the first page of a great book; exciting, hopeful, and filled with promise. But while most of us plan our itineraries with precision, we tend to leave the financial aspect to chance. That's where a travel fund comes in. It's the grown-up way to pursue your dreams.

The trick is to start early and treat it like any other financial goal.

The Plan

Start with the usual approach: budgeting. Consider flights, visas, hotels, food, local transport, entry tickets, and that inevitable shopping splurge. It's advisable to add a buffer of 10 per cent for currency fluctuations and unplanned expenses. The total number may look intimidating, but if you break it down, it becomes manageable.

Sample Spending

For example, if your trip is a year away and you estimate expenses of ₹3 lakh, that works out to ₹25,000 per month. Does that amount seem too steep? Try planning for 18 months instead. That reduces it to ₹17,000 per month, which feels much more doable.

The Trick

The smartest approach is to set up a separate savings account and arrange for money to move automatically from your salary account the day after payday each month. Keep it out of sight and out of temptation's reach. You can also explore short-term debt funds or recurring deposits if you want some returns without risking your capital. Avoid equity investments for short-term travel goals, as market volatility can derail your plans.

Points that Help

Along the way, use your credit cards strategically to rack up airline miles and earn free flights. Look for travelthemed cards, cash-back offers on hotel bookings, or limited-period deals on flight aggregators. These strategies can reduce your expenses significantly.

If you plan wisely, you'll be able to enjoy every moment without guilt or credit card debt hangovers.

KP GROUP SOARS TO NEW HEIGHTS

At a recent employee town hall, Dr. Faruk G Patel, Chairman and Managing Director, initiated KP Group’s sustainability journey with a resonant message: “Our flight in sustainable energy has taken off. It is now our collective responsibility to ensure that the flight is smooth.” KP Group’s journey is a story of vision and persistence. Founded in 1994 from Surat city by Dr. Faruk G. Patel with just Rs. 1 lakh, the Group has grown into a diversified conglomerate with a market capitalisation of Rs. 16,000+ crore (as on 31st May 2025).

Headquartered in Surat, Gujarat, KP Group comprises three listed companies, viz. KPI Green Energy, KP Energy, and KP Green Engineering, and has rapidly expanded into solar, wind, hybrid energy, engineering solutions for renewable and heavy infrastructure, and now green hydrogen and offshore wind.

Dr. Patel’s personal journey mirrors the Group’s evolution. Born in a small village in Bharuch, Gujarat in 1972 as the son of a bus conductor, his early years were marked by financial hardships but a strong emphasis on education. From early jobs as an optician to working at a pizza chain in the UK, he returned to India with bigger dreams. After early success in the telecom infrastructure, he turned to renewable energy in 2008, a decision that laid the foundation for KP Group.

The Group has installed over ~2 GW of renewable energy capacity and has ~4 GW orders in hand, moving swiftly

towards 10 GW milestone. The financial year 2024-25 was a breakthrough year for KP Group. Consolidated revenues across the three listed companies surged by 83% to Rs. 3,400+ crores, while combined profits more than doubled to Rs. 500+ crores, an increase of 102%.

In Bharuch, Gujarat, KP Green Engineering is establishing Asia’s largest galvanising facility. KPI Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Private Limited is in the business of Green Hydrogen. The company is set of operationalize its first 1 MW green hydrogen plant, being set up at Matar, Gujarat, by end of 2025.

The Group is also set to launch a pioneering offshore wind project near Bharuch besides planning a captive BESS (Battery Energy Storge System) project, in addition to active tender participation.

KPI Green OMS (a KP Group company) has deployed state-of-the-art robots across solar plants for improved generation efficiency. Complete design, prototyping, and production of the robot, protected under patent application, is managed by internal engineering teams. To further this spirit of innovation and leadership, KP Group has partnered with IIM Ahmedabad for a Leadership Excellence Program.

Earlier, the Group signed an MoU with the Government of Gujarat under the Vibrant Gujarat initiative and pledged an investment of INR 17,690 Cr for solar, wind, hybrid, offshore and green hydrogen projects in Gujarat. The Group is also

expanding its national presence through MoUs with the governments of Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Rajasthan.

The Group’s social impact has been equally transformative. The KP Human Development Foundation, through its 300+ initiatives, has positively impacted more than 1.25 crore lives. The education initiatives have benefitted over 13,000 students. KP Group has quadrupled its humanitarian efforts compared to the previous year. In recognition of these efforts, Dr. Faruk Patel was honored with the Mahatma Award India 2024 for Social Good and Impact, presented by Dr. Kiran Bedi, India’s first female IPS officer, and former Lt. Governor of Puducherry, and Mr. Amit Sachdeva, a Gandhian and constitutional lawyer known as "The CSR Man of India."
