In support of the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste on 29 September, the Scoresby facility held a barbeque for the Parts Distribution Centre (PDC), Upfit and Pilot Centre teams.

The mission was to raise awareness on how no food should be wasted.

The organisers initially thought they had ordered too much food but support from staff was overwhelming. Employees had their fill and there was still food left over – but the main objective had yet to be achieved. Organisers asked the PDC warehouse staff if they would like to take some food home as it would save them having to cook dinner and again the staff showed tremendous support. Every piece of food was used, even the last slice of tomato. A quiz was held to raise awareness of the impacts of food waste and the amount of food lost every year. Thanks to Vincent Moxey, Paul Anscombe, Nuno Cabral and the wider team for their support. Organisers Emma McKenna and Denise Shaw were extremely pleased with the outcome and say they could not have done it without the support of colleagues. The only food that went into the “chicken bin” was the outer lettuce leaves and off-cuts from the tomatoes, which will be enjoyed by the chooks. The Scoresby team’s mission of no food wasted was accomplished
