Working directly with Director Sebastien Ricard, I am Design Lead for 1-2 Minster Court, a prominent office tower project in the City of London, I guided the project from the competition phase through to the Planning Submission. I managed design iterations for the tower's massing and d façades by developing parametric processes using Grasshopper and transitioning to Revit for documentation. In addition, I played a vital role in delivering a Stage 4 music studio project for a major tech brand and made significant contributions to several competition-winning proposals. I also have been involved in R&D for the implementation of AI tools within the practice.

The site is bounded by Mincing Lane to the West, Mark Lane to the East and part of Dunster Court to the North. 3 Minster Court does not form part of these proposals. 1 Minster Court is a detached, granite-clad, steel framed office building located to the north-east of the site. 2 Minster Court is of identical construction and located along the eastern boundary of the site.

Underneath these buildings is a mix of retail space across basement, mezzanine, lower ground and upper ground.

The vision for 1-2 Minster Court is to create a new City destination, that becomes a City institution.

PARAMETRIC LOWER FACADES & SOFFIT Approximately 60% of the existing primary structure is to be retained, including the basement and foundations. The scale of our retention equates to approximately 2% of the entire Square Mile’s annual carbon emissions being avoided, or 174 new average sized homes in London. This is also more floor area than almost any other major redevelopment in the City (ca. 22,450 m2) ///// 8

A new public gathering space, with a roster of restaurants, offices, cafés and bars, and a programme of cultural events, representing the rich diversity of the City, that will attract workers in the week, and families, tourists and Londoners on weekends. At the heart of our proposals is a new public gathering space.

A terracing of greenery that creates a natural stage to relax and enjoy this part of the City.

PARAMETRIC MID-LEVEL FACADES The project was developed from the outset using parametric processes, encompassing everything from massing options and automatic area calculations to level plan generation and the design of various façades. The façade scripts utilise portions of the massing model as a starting surface, allowing for the creation of façades with complex arc shapes. The main façade design considers solar radiation to determine glazing dimensions, resulting in increased glazing at the lower levels and a more opaque WILKINSONEYRE // LONDON, UK

treatment towards the top. This parametric approach enabled rapid and efficient application of façades across multiple massing design iterations during the early stages.

The Tokyo Skytree Robotics project aims to create a central hub in a fast-growing neighbourhood, an impulsion centre for the Japanese robotics revolution that can develop within a test neighbourhood (an urban project showcased on my website). The showroom is accessible by the main hall, which is intended to be an extension of the neighbourhood’s greenway, but also by the outside with different framing windows on a series of terraces leading to the top of the concrete base. Then,

offices, workshops, and test areas make up the tower, organised into three research departments. The first is dedicated to domestic robotics. The second department focuses on robotics research in symbiosis with the human

STRESS LINES GENERATIVE STRUCTURE

A first intention was to find a fast way to simulate wind pressure on a surface with a looping script. From there, an Evolutionary Algorithm abstracting the geometrical properties of the Mayan house to create a primitive form was implemented. Multiple objectives were defined, such as minimising wind pressure on the surface, minimising

curvature, maximising usable space and minimising ratio volume/area for thermal regulation. Based on these four objectives, thousands of individuals have been generated and evaluated. Stresses on the morphology have been simulated, with self-weight and an east dominant wind load and defined supports in blue. From a large deformation analysis,

compressive and tensile stress lines were extracted, a starting point for the bamboo structure. However, these curves needed to be rationalised in the elastic domain of bamboo. A first Finite Element Analysis with self-weight and dominant east wind was then conducted. A second scenario has been tested with violent hurricane winds from the side. An important

deformation was obtained, and this flexibility is necessary for the structure not to break. A second evolutionary optimisation has been run focusing on the structure. The new goals were to reduce the displacement in these two wind scenarios while reducing the cross-section sizes. The Pareto front individuals display a range of different morphological expressions,

and the average best performing for the criteria has been selected for its performance. By understanding that not all the forces are evenly distributed along the structure and dividing it into three parts, calculating loads of suction and pressure along the volume gave more accurate results. Being able to remove some skin during a storm helps to ease the

deformation of the structure. Both permanent and removable skin panels will thus be implemented.

From the obtained surface during the winddriven form-finding optimisation, bamboo beams have been created by large deformation analysis and evolutionary optimisation. However, these bamboo beams need solid foundations, which have been generated. Beams and foundations are connected by an articulated metal joint, ensuring flexibility during assembly.

In order to promote local material and craftsmanship, most of the connections are tied joints. In this project, two types of tie joints are used and are digitally generated (A&B).

Once the main structure is anchored and stable, a substructure is wrapped on it to receive the skin. A secondary structure is set up to create zones to locate the different skin panels (C).

The substructure divides two different skin zones. One is never removed and constitutes elastic but solid skin. The other part is composed of panels that open or close depending on climate conditions (E). Lastly, rotating doors have been implemented (D) to give the users freedom in natural ventilation.

In terms of spatial organisation, an existing terrain in Mayan settlements is defined by a grid network, which is further divided into plots. To create wind channels between the plots, an agent-based system trying to minimise the wind channels network length and avoid the centre of the plots has been set. From which a mesh has been extracted that influences the elevation of the terrain, as well as the

vegetation, following the rules established in the previous experiments. Several CFDs have been run to enhance landscape design for wind mitigation. Higher speeds in wind channels can be seen, demonstrating its efficiency. More than channelling wind, the elevation difference will help to deal with storm surges. Evolutionary optimisation for the plots’ spatial organisation has then been put in place. They aim to

enhance shading and increase the distance between the main functions to create an outdoor space, and push away the waste, pigsty and beehive. Plans are generated based on rules; a thin wind channel passes through the plot for natural ventilation on which the volumes are aligned. The distance of the main functions creates a terrace for exterior activities. When a certain distance between

them is reached, more greenery is created between them to provide more shading. The script has been set to be able to input the number of people and their activities on each plot to select functions accordingly. Extensions to volumes can be added, and if two neighbouring families grow big, their plots eventually merge.

“Design II: Ecological Urban Design is focused on creating new design experiments and system logics for ecologically sensitive settlements with urban tissues in extreme climates and ecological contexts. It is founded on the logic that the patterns of human inhabitation are determined by the needs of the infrastructure of the ecology – designed, grown, and developed as integrated natural and cultural systems, with the ambition to be resilient to change.” (AA Emtech, 2022)

The project reflected on the creation of an arctic colony in Greenland that integrates an arctic research centre, dwellings for a thousand people, and its necessary amenities. A generative modular system has been set up to allow the aggregation of modules based on several context influences. These modules are on skis, designed to move to follow Climate Change throughout the

years in Greenland. Various urban designs have been tested, and one was selected based on its performance.

The computational logic is built around the connection points creation. The number of connections directly influences the geometrical form. A separate roof module helps not to lose heat and preserve energy consumption. At the same time, the room module creates an

area for the solar panels. Furthermore, as the roof is a separate prefabricated module, the settlement can easily grow by relocating the roof to the upper accommodation module. These different modules have been selected through thousands of individuals thanks to an

evolutionary multi-objective optimisation algorithm. Houdini CFD simulations on the inhabitation cluster have been conducted to adapt the design of the bedroom module to redirect wind flows and thus reduce pressure and snow build-up.

For the aggregation of the dwelling modules, the Wasp plug-in in Grasshopper has been used, and certain rules of connection have been created between elements, as well as several fields that guided this aggregation. The cloud of points explains the algorithm’s choice for 4

aggregation paths and their values based on fields. The aggregation grows following the connection rules of elements, defined to place different inhabitation pods (Food, Kitchen, Social, and Bedrooms) to create inhabitation clusters for 27 people each.

The aggregation continues by starting at

other origins and then joining at the end.

“Architectural Association (AA) Emergent Technologies & Design (EmTech) Post-Graduate Programme and Hassell Studio have collaborated to create a new pavilion in Bedford Square. Titled Re-Emerge, the research agenda of the Pavilion is situated within the framework of production in a world with limited resources. The project emphasises the pavilion's ecological impact from the early phases of the design process onwards.

Wood is inherently the best bio-fabricated and biodegradable material. When a timber building is demolished after several decades, it does not

produce useless waste, but generates reclaimed wood that can be re-used and repurposed, hence becoming part of the circular economy. Re-Emerge is created with grade A reclaimed wood pallets.

Morphological and structural complexity was adopted by the variable aggregation of similar modules that are formed by scoring and steambending. The modules are assembled with lap joints, diminishing the need for secondary materials in the joinery system.

The conscious attitude of the project towards the environment is maintained in its fabrication and instalment.

The employment of life cycle assessment (LCA) in our computational workflows has facilitated to take into consideration CO2 emissions associated with not only the material itself, but also its origins and transportation to site. At the end of its second lifecycle, part of the pavilion was erected in Hassell Studio and part of it was sent back to the timber recycling facilities where it was resourced from. The ambition of

An urban renewal project has been drawn on the outskirts of Amsterdam in an abandoned industrial district. This new urban plan focuses on the relationship between water and nature by creating a park within which different programs are distributed.

neighbourhood contains housing, a school and two parking silos. An architectural project has been developed, adding offices, exhibition spaces, shops and a gastronomic hall to the mixed-use urban programme. The continuity of this project with the park is 52,353218° N, 5,0027695° E

ensured by a vegetated roof linking the various programs by a path and offering visitors views of the city of Amsterdam.

This project is one of the winners of a competition organised by the Regional Health Agency which launched a call for ideas for innovative intergenerational housing, aiming to improve the health of its inhabitants. A first intention was designed to adapt as best as possible to the context in which this housing project is established.

Apart from the first floor, the levels are separated into two distinct volumes to allow the dwellings to enjoy better natural ventilation by optimising the orientations.

One of the two parts has one more floor to create a dialogue with the surrounding buildings’ heights. The project then develops around functional typologies that can be found in intergenerational

housing, as well as common spaces promoting

the cohabitation of different generations.

Offsets on the same floor allow multiplying facade areas and openings, to create loggias that protect the flats from the street-level noise.

Shifting it from one level to another allows the façade to be rhythmed and thus creates additional outdoor surfaces used as vast terraces.
