Jules Louis Audemars (1851â1918) and Edward Auguste Piguet (1853â1919), two young and ambitious watchmakers, established their workshop in 1875 in their home village of Le Brassus. Believing in the power of the VallĂ©e de Jouxâs network of artisanship and following their firm convictions, they set on crafting unique complicated mechanisms by hand at a time when serial production was looming with the rise of industrialisation.
While the two entrepreneurs first produced complicated movements that were sold to Geneva-based firms, they soon orchestrated the production of complete watches in the region by coordinating the activities of a variety of craftsmen, buying in blanks, cases, dials, bracelets and sending out pieces for gem-setting and decorating. The miniaturisation, design, assembly and setting of movements were then done at Audemars Piguet workbenches.
The company ledgers demonstrate that nearly 80% of the some 1600 watches produced by Audemars Piguet between 1882 and 1892 included at least one, if not several complications. Refined chiming, chronograph and astronomical watches, assembled and finished by hand, have remained the beating heart of Audemars Piguet ever since.

Designed in collaboration with KAWS, this limited edition is made entirely of titanium and has a miniature COMPANION at its heart. The peripheral time display offers an unobstructed view of this cartoon-like character in shades of grey.
The new 43 mm limited edition Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon designed in collaboration with KAWS explores new creative territories.
Fully crafted in titanium, the timepiece is imbued with the aesthetic DNA of the New York-based artist, who has placed a miniature COMPANION at the very heart of the watch, and features an innovative peripheral time display.

KAWS, known for his transformative âad interventionâ works and iconic characters like COMPANION, has consistently explored new possibilities in shape, material, and size. These qualities resonate strongly with Audemars Piguetâs avant-garde Royal Oak Concept collection, which redefines traditional watchmaking with its bold and futuristic designs. This partnership merges the precision of haute horology with KAWSâ unique artistic vision, creating a timepiece that is both a cultural statement and a technical masterpiece.
By blending artistry and craftsmanship, Audemars Piguet and KAWS celebrate a harmonious dialogue between tradition and modernity. This collaboration reimagines the possibilities of watchmaking, offering collectors a groundbreaking expression of luxury that bridges the worlds of horology and contemporary art.

The 43 mm Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon âCOMPANIONâ incorporates KAWSâ aesthetic on both sides of the watch. In a nod to KAWSâ dissected series, the chest of the COMPANION reveals its beating heart, the watchâs tourbillon. The miniatiure 3D character is entirely made of titanium and is mounted on the titanium dial plate decorated with a sunburst motif. Its alternating satin-brushed and sandblasted finishes add texture and depth, while accentuating its rounded silhouette.

John Mayer worked hand in hand with the AP teams to design a picturesque dial, whose texture and vastness lend depth to a complication that has shaped the world of Audemars Piguet since its beginnings. Each detail harmoniously combines to give the timepiece a sense of infinity.
A new scintillating dial finish gives life to John Mayerâs vision of a crystal sky. The embossed motif is composed of irregular shapes resembling crystals, whose sharp angles and facets add depth and brilliance to the piece. To achieve this level of detail and complexity, the stamping die was created atom by atom, through a metal deposition process known as electroforming.
Fully crafted in titanium, the timepiece is imbued with the aesthetic DNA of the New York-based artist, who has placed a miniature COMPANION at the very heart of the watch, and features an innovative peripheral time display.

âMy favourite watches have dials that you can stare endlessly at. A great watch dial feels like a picture window - you look into it, not at it. In the case of this QP, itâs like looking up at a moonless sky. There is a true sense of nature in it. And when you couple that sense of depth and vastness with the complication of a perpetual calendar, it is a very powerful combination of technical prowess and aesthetic designâ

John Mayer collaborated closely with the Audemars Piguet team to craft a dial that is as visually striking as it is meaningful, embodying the artistry and innovation the brand is known for.
The dial's texture and design evoke a sense of vastness and depth, perfectly complementing the intricate complication that has been a hallmark of Audemars Piguet since its inception.
Drawing inspiration from the limitless beauty of the sky, Mayer envisioned a dial that would transcend conventional watch design, offering a sense of infinity in its aesthetic. Every detail was meticulously crafted to create harmony, with each element contributing to the dial's breathtaking allure. This collaboration not only highlights John Mayerâs artistic sensibilities but also Audemars Piguetâs dedication to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the art of watchmaking.
At the heart of this masterpiece lies a scintillating new dial finish, which brings Mayer's vision of a crystal sky to life. The embossed motif features irregular shapes reminiscent of crystals, their sharp angles and facets adding unparalleled depth and brilliance to the timepiece. Achieving this level of detail required cutting-edge craftsmanship, with the stamping die produced through electroforming, a complex process that builds the die atom by atom. This innovative approach underscores the brandâs commitment to combining artistry with technical mastery, resulting in a truly exceptional creation.
