Meet Arelio
At two-years-old, Arelio was diagnosed with leukemia and went through a very intense treatment period. While he was in the hospital during the first treatment round, all he could think about was going home. He missed being with his family more than anything.
Now eight-years-old, the little boy is currently in the maintenance treatment phase where he is receiving a gentler outpatient chemo and having regular checkups with doctors. He loves watching his favorite TV show, The Power Rangers, and spending time swimming with his family.

Throughout his journey, Arelio’s family has kept his spirits up. He’s close to all of his siblings, and has shared a room with his sister for years. However, he has always dreamed of having a room of his very own. His family agreed that the Make-A-Wish team could convert the loft space in their home so that Arelio’s wish to have a room of his very own could come true.
He asked for a full gaming setup along with a lofted bed and a set of chairs and controllers so that he could play alongside his best friend, his brother. The day came as a total surprise to the little boy after having his initial wish – to stay in a beautiful beach house – put on hold due to the pandemic. He was overwhelmed with happiness and even shed a few tears at the reveal, thanking the Make-A-Wish team of volunteers over and over again.
Arelio’s new setup will bring him – and his siblings! – joy for years to come.
At VideoPoker.com, practice makes perfect. The company focuses on strategy and encourages its customers to take the time to learn a skill at home before putting it into practice. For Arelio, he had learned that after 8 years of having his brother as a roommate, he was ready to break free and have a space to call his own. Arelio decided that a shopping spree would allow him to shop for items to personalize a space of his own.
Thanks to the generous support of VidoePoker.com, wish kids like Arelio are able to experience a heartfelt wish. Was the effort successful? We will let Arelio’s tears of joy upon seeing his room reveal speak for themselves. However, he made sure to get a second controller for his biggest supporter, his brother. We are also grateful for VideoPoker.com’s continued support of our Walk for Wishes event.

In its inaugural year, the Trailblaze Challenge raised over $200K to grant the wishes of critically ill children in Southern Nevada. Hosted by the City of Mesquite in the Valley of Fire, the Trailblaze Challenge is a 26.2 mile hike that participants conquer in one day. Tested physically and philanthropically, participants’ hike training efforts coincide with raising much-needed funds to grant wishes. It’s not a race, it’s a journey.

Held annually for over 20 years, Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada’s Fashion Luncheon event continues to be one of the most sought-after seats in town. Each year the event features the looks of a featured fashion designer, a silent auction, and plenty of opportunities for community members to support wish-granting efforts. To date the event has raised over $7.8 million.
