A Message from Scott Rosenzweig
Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada opened its doors in 1996 with one mission in mind, to grant the wish of every eligible child in our region. Twenty-five years later, we’re still focused on that same mission. And while we would welcome the day that we have to go out of business due to children no longer suffering from life-threatening illnesses, that day has yet to come. Therefore, we’ll continue to be the prescription for hope and provide that to our families.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. We here at Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada know it takes a community to grant a child’s wish. These pages are filled with some of our community partners who give their generous support, helping to take an idea from a child’s mind and heart and helping our staff bring the child’s heartfelt wish to reality.
In 2019, wish kid Delilah wished to create a makeup line for cancer patients. To ensure that we got her vision right, we reached out to our community partners who came together without hesitation to make it happen. We see this type of community support all the time; from organizations that help construct backyard playhouses to ones that create teams for our annual Walk for Wishes event. We are constantly in awe of the community that shows up to help us overdeliver for our wish kids.
As we look back on the last 25 years of granting wishes here in Southern Nevada, one thing continues to be clear, we can’t and don’t do this alone. This special book features not only the organizations who have been by our side throughout the duration of our existence as a chapter, but also the ones who are new supporters of our mission. It takes all of you to create the special moments captured in this booklet. You are helping wishes come true for these kids, and I can’t thank you enough for your support.
Please enjoy, as I did, reliving these wishes or learning about them for the first time. Please know how humbled we all are to have you by our side.
Wishfully Yours,
Scott Rosenzweig President & CEO

It All Started with a Single Wish …
Tens of thousands of volunteers, donors and supporters advance the Make-A-Wish® vision to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a critical illness. In the U.S. and its territories, a wish is granted every 34 minutes. A wish can be that spark that helps these children believe that anything is possible and gives them the strength to fight harder against their illnesses. This one belief guides us and inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve.
Make-A-Wish traces its inspiration to Christopher James Greicius, an energetic 7-year-old boy battling leukemia who wished to be a police officer. In 1980, his Phoenix community came together to make his wish come true. Little did Chris know that his wish would create a movement that would transform millions of lives.
Today, Make-A-Wish has been granting life-changing wishes for children and families for over 40 years. With the help of our donors and more than 43,000 volunteers around the world, Make-A-Wish has collectively granted more than 520,000 wishes worldwide since its inception in 1980.
As a global community, we are focused on the impact of a wish in every phase of the Wish Journey. Wishes have proven physical and emotional benefits that can give children with critical illnesses a higher chance of survival. And wishes not only help these children – they also have far-reaching, positive impacts on their families and communities. In other words, wishes are the driving force behind all we do because, put simply, wish experiences transform lives.
A Letter from Chris’ Mom
My name is Linda Pauling, and I am a wish mom. When my son, Chris, was diagnosed with leukemia in 1979, I cried and asked myself, why my child?
One of the hardest parts by far was addressing Chris’ questions about what was happening to him. And with that, came the sadness of knowing everything my 7-year-old son would miss.
We decided to make the most of the life he did have, starting with his one true wish – to become a police officer. Chris’ favorite show was CHiPs and he dreamed of being a police officer. When a friend said he could help make Chris’ wish come true, I was not sure what to expect, but the memory of Chris’ wish day will live forever in my mind.
Chris received an official uniform from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, including badges and motorcycle wings. My friend and officers from DPS had Chris helping with traffic stops, before they took him on a ride above the city in a helicopter.
He was the happiest I’ve ever seen him. He came alive again, transforming into a child full of hope, joy and wonder.
For that day, my son forgot about his physicians, the hospital stays and even his pain. I can’t begin to express the happiness I felt in my heart, and, because of this, I continue to remember Chris’ wish more than I remember his illness.
After Chris’ wish came true, the community who came together to make it possible considered how, together, we could give this experience to other children and their families. A group of volunteers and less than $40 – that is how Make-A-Wish began.
I truly believe Make-A-Wish was the reason for Chris’ life.
I continue to be amazed and inspired with how one little boy’s wish to be a police officer now touches the lives of so many people. I still feel Chris’ loss daily, but I also feel Chris’ wish helps ease the burden on my heart.
I will never forget the joy in his eyes during his wish and the days that followed.

“The impact of a wish cannot be underestimated. Experiencing a wish come true can be a turning point in a child’s life. It helps children experience life beyond illness and can also help build the physical and emotional strength a child needs to fight their illness. A wish can give a child courage to continue with treatments, strength to persevere, provide joy during a time of darkness, and hope for a brighter future.”

The Impact of
Make-A-Wish
In 2010, Make-A-Wish led a study that defined the impact of wishes on the children, siblings, parents, and medical professionals that are part of the wish journey. This first-of-its-kind study provided quantitative measures of the impact of the Make-A-Wish mission. In 2022, this research was expanded to a much larger population of Make-A-Wish families and medical professionals who overwhelmingly agree the positive effects of a wish can include improved physical, emotional and mental strength and well-being. A few of the findings are highlighted below:
Emotional & Mental Well-Being
9 out of 10 wish parents saw their child’s emotional well-being improve with a wish
Confidence for the Future
9 out of 10 wish kids reported that they felt more joyful, confident, and hopeful for their future following their wish
Treatment compliance
9 out of 10 medical providers say a wish increases compliance with treatment
Strength to Fight
8 out of 10 wish kids report that their wish gave them the strength to fight their critical illness
Strengthen Relationships
9 out of 10 wish parents report that their child’s wish experience strengthen their relationship with loved ones
Journey Necessity
8 out of 10 medical providers reported that a wish is a necessary part of a child’s treatment journey
Trauma Relief
A wish provides much needed relief from the trauma and stress caused by a child’s critical illiness.
Emotional & Mental Well-Being
Wishes have a positive impact on the emotional well-being of wish kids families and those involved in a wish.
Turning Point
The Wish Journey is often a pivotal experience during a wish kid’s treatment and recovery.
Strength to Fight
The Wish Journey gives children something to look forward to and renew their strength to fight their illness.
Long-Term Impact
The impact of a wish lasts far beyond the hope and joy a child feels during their wish experience.

The Heart of Volunteers
At Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada, volunteers are at the heart of every wish experience. From airport greeters and wish discovery experts to wish design volunteers and wish experts, our volunteers truly make a difference in the lives of our wish kids. We consider our volunteers extensions of our staff, and we love hearing stories from dedicated volunteers like Tommy on the impact of Make-A-Wish. Read on to learn about his journey.
Make-A-Wish has changed my life more than I ever could have imagined. When I first signed up to volunteer, I was nervous, wondering what I could possibly have to offer such an amazing organization. After watching the first training video and learning about how the community rallied around Chris Greicius, I stopped wondering what I had to offer and started questioning why it took me so long to figure this out!
After that first day, I was full of excitement, I couldn’t stop talking to my family members about the difference that I was going to make. However, after meeting the Wish Kids, I realized that they were making a difference in my life! Their strength, their fight, their determination … I noticed it reflecting back in my life as well!
When I hear a family say that they’re blessed because of something I did, that’s powerful! When the parents cry happy tears, I couldn’t help but to carry that feeling over to my everyday life. Because of Make-A-Wish, I now care deeper, love more intensely, and smile brighter than I ever have before.
With most Wish Families, you may only interact with them once but you’ll never forget them. I’ve pictured Jamar playing basketball with Steph Curry, Joseph playing on the beach, and Richard heading off to Universal Studios to meet my childhood hero, Spider-Man!
My time with Make-A-Wish is just beginning, and I’m excited to see where our Southern Nevada chapter is headed over the next 25 years!

Meet Connor
At only three months old, Connor was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. This began his journey through various courses of treatment with his family determined to find the winning combination of therapies. Over the ensuing 12 years, Connor has undergone sinus surgeries; used inhalers, nebulizers, oral medications, nose sprays, chest vests to clear his lungs; and is involved in physical activities to stop the progression of cystic fibrosis symptoms.
Most adults—let alone 11-year-olds—would dread the daily routine Connor endures, but he is exceptionally responsible for his age. He sets his alarm to wake up early and administer his own treatments. He maintains a positive outlook and finds ways to enjoy favorite activities like swimming that help his lung and sinus issues. Connor’s strength translates to other areas of his life, too, including elementary school, where he earns straight As and served as student body president.
When Connor isn’t occupied with his daily treatments, he enjoys learning about outer space. His appetite for books on the subject— fiction and nonfiction—led to his love of everything related to Star Wars. Although Connor was excited about the new Star Wars movies, he really likes the history behind the franchise and the original trilogy.
Once Connor learned he was eligible for a wish and met with Wish Granters Anne-Marie and Alan, he knew exactly what he wanted: to

I wish to meet Harrison Ford Connor, 12 cystic fibrosis
meet actor Harrison Ford and talk to him about the experience of bringing to life everyone’s favorite space pirate, Han Solo. During an assembly at Connor’s school, Storm Troopers and Darth Vader were on hand to reveal his wish was coming true… as the school band played the Star Wars theme song!
On January 12, 2017, Connor’s wish came true at Mr. Ford’s personal airplane hangar. As Connor and his family approached the location, their jaws dropped when Ford personally greeted them at the entrance and knew all their names before they even had the chance to introduce themselves. He welcomed them to his home away from home and chatted with Connor and his family for several hours. When Connor asked him about his favorite movie or role, Ford replied, “You can’t choose between your kids; they are all special.”
As a national partner of Make-A-Wish since 2012, Allegiant recently celebrated flying 2,000 Wish Kids and their families to destinations across the country. On a local level, the organization is not only the proud presenting sponsor of our annual Walk for Wishes event, they also provide Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada with a rent-free home on their corporate headquarters campus here in Las Vegas.
Allegiant consistently encourages its staff to get involved with Make-A-Wish and you will find their employees in our board room, at our events, and on our volunteer teams. And if you look up, you just might spot the special A320 Airbus aircraft that proudly features the Make-A-Wish livery. The company proudly supports Make-A-Wish and we couldn’t be happier to have them as our neighbors and serving on our board of directors..
As Ford showed Connor his planes and helicopter, he informed Connor he could begin taking classes at 14 and have his pilot license by the time he turns 16. Ford autographed some items for Connor to take home and gave Connor and his brother a ride to lunch in his Tesla! After lunch, they all said their goodbyes and Ford’s parting words left a profound mark. Harrison Ford encouraged Connor, “Instead of ‘May the Force be with you’… ‘Be the force.’

Meet Xavier
Ten-year-old Xavier had dreamed about seeing a volcano in real life. The science-loving little boy spent hours with his dad looking at videos and pictures of two of the world’s most active volcanoesKīlauea and Mauna Loa – nestled inside of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. Little did Xavier know that his life was about to have an eruption of its own.
Falling ill in January 2020, Xavier and his mom spent most of the month at the hospital while his dad stayed home with siblings Isabella and Giovanni. In early February, the family received the news that Xavier had leukemia.
Treatment started immediately after diagnosis, but an allergic rection to one of the chemotherapy drugs had the medical team rushing the little boy to UCLA to treat a resulting infection. Xavier had to have his stomach cut open to remove pieces from the infection and remained
at UCLA for another month to monitor his recovery. To make matters worse, he was unable to see his dad or his siblings during that time due to the pandemic.
The kind little boy who loves soccer, performing on stage, and singing reached many low points during those months, as the leukemia took a toll on the entire family. He dreamed of the day that he could leave the hospital and go on an adventure with the people that he loved the most, his family.

I wish to go to Hawaii Xavier, 10 leukemia
When Xavier learned that he was eligible to receive a wish, his mind immediately went to science and the volcanoes that he and his dad had obsessed over in Hawaii. He knew that a trip to the Aloha State would be just what he needed to recharge after a tumultuous time.
Boyd Gaming 25TH ANNIVERSARY PARTNER
After two years of treatments, healing, and waiting, Xavier and his family boarded a plane to paradise in July 2022.
While there, the family was able to go on a submarine ride, take a snorkel boat tour, and come faceto-face with dolphins. The highlight of Xavier’s trip? Basking in the glow of the lava-filled caldera of Kīlauea.
And shave ice.
The team at Boyd Gaming knows a little something about Hawaii. Located in historic downtown Las Vegas, the gaming company’s California Hotel Casino boasts a Hawaiian theme that is woven into the fabric of the property. From Hawaiian dining delicacies to the property’s island-inspired décor, the hospitality of the Hawaiian Islands is certainly reflected here.
When presented with the opportunity to host Xavier’s going-away reception, the company went all out – surprising the little boy with a volcano cake, volcano candy towers, and swag bag for his trip. More than 50 employees showed up to wish Xavier and his family well, presenting them each with Hawaiian leis in celebration of their special trip to the Big Island. When it comes to hospitality, Boyd Gaming is not exaggerating when they say they speak “Aloha” fluently. They certainly made this Wish Family feel special.

Meet Jazzaba
I wish to have a hospitality internship
Jazzaba, 19 chronic kidney disease
Jazzaba, known to her friends as Jasmine, was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease just before her senior year of high school. Suddenly, the future that Jasmine had begun to plan for herself was in question. She went from a healthy teenager ready to submit her college applications to a kidney patient facing endless rounds of dialysis, surgeries, tests, and waiting …
After being placed on the donor list, Jasmine was full of anxiety. Fortunately, during that same time, Jasmine was introduced to two volunteers from Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada who were able to lift her spirits with the possibility of a wish. For the first time in a while, Jasmine put aside her anxious thoughts about her illness and she imagined her future.
Would she be traveling to Denmark to visit her grandfather? Would she be shaping her future career? With ambitions of becoming a CEO of a major hospitality company one day, Jasmine ultimately decided on the latter. The team at Make-A-Wish
utilized their contacts at some of the top gaming and hospitality businesses in Las Vegas to develop a personalized internship experience that introduced Jasmine to some of the industry’s top executives.
The UNLV student spent her summer learning from some of the best in the business. The experience opened up many opportunities for Jasmine, but most of all it encouraged her to keep hope alive during difficult times. The future for this girl is limitless.

After the Wish
Caesars Foundation 25TH ANNIVERSARY PARTNER
As a young Nevadan (battle born), I aspired to learn about the gaming/integrated resort space while on dialysis six years ago. I was always fascinated by the bright lights and lingering essence of belonging in the middle of the Sahara Desert where it rains synonymous free-play offers. My wish was for a single gaming internship. Little to my surprise, with Global Gaming Women’s support, Make-A-Wish granted me multiple hospitality internships.
I experienced firsthand the exponential impact of a wish come true. I would love to thank Caesars Entertainment in addition to Station Casinos and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. I gained immense knowledge I so intensely craved throughout each hospitality internship learning different facets of the business— from integrated regional resorts to globally operated ones. I also gained a bonus family from each hospitality internship. It was the strong connections that kept me going.
I longed for three agenda items while on dialysis—my education, a career, and a kidney transplant but I knew what it meant to be on a transplant list awaiting a vital organ. After being on the transplant list for three years, I received a kidney in 2017 in the middle of my internship experience. We had to postpone one of the internships because of the transplant, but I got back at it. Looking back now, I have a better understanding of just how tired I was at the time, but I was so driven that I kept going. This experience with Make-A-Wish truly changed my life.
Since its inception in 2002, Caesars Foundation has supported national and local nonprofit programs and projects, including Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada. As the foundation seeks to strengthen organizations and programs in the communities where their employees live and work, we are fortunate to have a group dedicated to that objective right here in Las Vegas.
Boasting many of the world’s most prestigious gaming brands, Caesars Entertainment properties in Las Vegas helped to make Jasmine’s internship experience exceptional. She spent her fall semester on a rotational internship across Caesars Entertainment properties where she learned everything from front desk operations and housekeeping to employee relations and luxury.

Meet Irene
Irene has always had a passion for art. She especially finds joy in drawing, listening to music, and makeup. In 2020, her love of art became stronger when she was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease. For Irene, art and her family are the two main drivers getting her through treatment.
The prospect of receiving a life-changing wish ignited a new sense of hope within Irene, and she knew exactly what to wish for—to be an artist! The teenager couldn’t wait to finally live out her dreams of having her artwork displayed for all to see, because art isn’t just another hobby but a way for her to escape the reality she now faces.
In the days leading up to her wish, Irene was surprised with the news that she would be a featured artist at First Friday – an art, music, and food festival hosted every first Friday of the month in Downtown Las Vegas. Irene immediately immersed herself in her artwork and
prepared her best pieces to be on display for the entire Las Vegas community.
Although she knew when her wish would be granted, Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada still made sure to weave in a few surprises. Just days before her wish, Irene was invited to The Wishing Place where she received her very own digital drawing pad and projector so she could draw her artwork live during the festival!
When the day of her wish finally came, Irene couldn’t believe so many people were seeing her artwork and stayed to watch her art come to

life. With the temperature starting to warm up across the Valley, the day’s event expected a greater turnout than usual! The local news channel even setup their live broadcast right next to Irene’s booth giving her additional exposure to showcase her art.
With the help of Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada, Irene’s wish was a welcome distraction from the challenges she faces daily due to her condition. Since her wish, Irene’s will to push forward through her medical journey has strengthened along with the eagerness to create
Centennial Toyota
25TH ANNIVERSARY PARTNER
Since its inception in 2003, Centennial Toyota has been committed to excellence in customer service and building long-lasting relationships. They came through for Make-A-Wish in a big way for our Walk for Wishes event and continue to find ways to support our mission.
Centennial Toyota has a customer-centric approach to relationship building. They take the time to get to know their customers to help them find exactly what they are looking for. For Irene, she knew that she wanted art to be at the center of her wish but she wasn’t exactly sure what that looked like. Discovery volunteers worked with Irene and slowly got to know the shy teenager with an artistic eye.
Eventually, her wish was granted in a way that allowed her to create and display her artwork in a way that felt unobtrusive and comfortable. It was like finding the perfect car, she had to take a few test drives before arriving at just the right one for her.

Meet Erick “Josh”
Diagnosed at birth with congenital heart disease, Erick (who goes by his middle name, Josh) required immediate surgery to repair his heart valve. Three years later, surgery was required again for a leaky mitral valve, which led to the discovery of a collapsed lung. Josh was then put on an extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine which does the work of a child’s heart and lungs.
The complications evolved from there, from bed sores to a two-month coma, during which time he also went into kidney failure. Throughout this arduous ordeal, Josh lost significant physical abilities and to this day requires daily peritoneal dialysis at home. If his kidney function improves, he will be eligible for a heart transplant.
Despite all this, Josh remains positive. His attitude towards the hardships he faces is to take them in stride. He doesn’t know any other way. When he learned he was eligible for a life-changing wish,
Josh’s love of all things Marvel and Star Wars led him to Walt Disney World®. He imagined himself at Galaxy’s Edge for the ultimate Star Wars experience, including getting outfitted with his own light saber. He also wanted to visit Pandora for Avatar items and – even though he has strict dietary constraints – he found a couple of menu items at the Space 220 restaurant at Epcot that he couldn’t wait to try.
Josh had his entire itinerary planned out before stepping foot on the airplane.
I wish to go to Walt Disney World®
16
Erick “Josh,” 16 congenital heart disease
On the day of his wish reveal, Josh arrived at Cityneon with his family for what he thought was a fun day checking out the Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N tour. It was then that a cast of Marvel characters greeted him to take him on a personalized tour where he was truly immersed in a universe of Super Heroes. Josh was able to hold Thor’s Stormbreaker, enjoy some of his favorite snacks, and have a wonderful day with his family while learning his wish to go to Walt Disney World® was about to come true.
While at the parks, Josh and his family checked off every item on his itinerary. As a Super Hero fan, Josh loved experiencing the numerous Marvel-related attractions at Universal Studios, including Marvel Super Hero Island® in Universal’s Islands of Adventure. He was also able to visit the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction at EPCOT.
Josh’s medical conditions often inhibit the family’s ability to travel as he requires an oxygen concentrator 24/7 as well as an iron medication that needs to be refrigerated. Thanks to wonderful partners and the team at Give Kids the World Village, the trip went off without a hitch.
“This was a vacation we would have never done on our own,” said Josh’s mom, Flor. “We are beyond grateful with every single person that played a part in making my son’s wish come true. He had the best time of his life and I have not seen him this happy in a very long time. We felt like celebrities and loved by everyone.”
It was fitting that Cityneon Holdings, a global leader in immersive and epic experiences, took Josh’s wish reveal to the next level. Knowing that Josh is a huge Marvel fan, the company arranged to have a cast of Marvel characters on hand at their Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N inside of Treasure Island Las Vegas to surprise the teen when his wish was revealed. From being able to hold Thor’s weapon, Stormbreaker, to seeing all the props on the tour, superfan Josh had an epic experience before even stepping on the plane to Orlando.
“Making a positive impact in the Southern Nevada community by helping those faced with challenges to find their strength is a top priority for our team,” said Zoe Tan, Head of Business Development and General Manager of Victory Hill Exhibitions, Cityneon Holdings. “Working alongside Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada to make Josh’s wish come to life was truly incredible and we hope to continue this partnership and create unique memories for many more families.”

Meet Rhiannon
I wish to be a Vegas VIP Rhiannon, 18 leukemia
While in the hospital battling leukemia, the prospect of a life-changing wish gave Rhiannon and her family reprieve from so much uncertainty and fear. Through rounds of chemotherapy and other treatments, this outgoing 18-year-old kept her spirits up by imagining all the possibilities that a wish would bring.
Now in remission, Rhiannon set her sights on a wish to have a unique and exclusive travel experience – to stay in a water hut somewhere tropical. But when COVID-19 put her travel wish on hold, Rhiannon realized that she could have that exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime experience in her own backyard as a Vegas VIP.
Rhiannon arrived by limo to her home away from home for the week, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and was greeted by a red carpet, tiara, bouquet of roses – her favorite flower – and a crowd
of supporters chanting her name. Real members of the media even showed up to cover superstar Rhiannon’s arrival.
After addressing the gathered media, she was whisked away to the VIP lobby to try her very own mocktail and head up to the penthouse suite she would call home for the week. When she walked through the door, her very own butler greeted her, showing her the suite filled with her favorite flowers, colors, and candy.

Rhiannon’s week-long itinerary made for a true VIP experience. Days were filled with private cabanas at the pool, a trip to the spa, and shopping sprees. Evenings were spent enjoying dinner with her family at some of the resort’s best on-site restaurants.
After battling leukemia and facing the unknown, Rhiannon wished for an experience where everything would be taken care of for her. Where she would be seen, cared for, and celebrated. She left the experience with memories to last a lifetime.
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas 25TH ANNIVERSARY PARTNER
When it comes to rolling out the red carpet for Make-A-Wish, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas knows just what to do. From taking the time to learn little details about Wish Kids like Rhiannon (from her favorite flower – the rose – to her favorite snacks), to flawlessly executing big events like Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada’s Fashion Luncheon, when it comes to supporting the mission of our organization, The Cosmopolitan is all in.
For Rhiannon’s wish, the team at The Cosmopolitan stepped in and took care of every detail to make our Wish Kid feel like the most special person in every room she entered. They even made a special signature Rhiannon “mocktail” featuring her favorite juices. Cheers to a wonderful wish and partnership.

Meet Skyler
Six-year-old Skyler was born with her intestines located outside of her body. Surgeons rushed to put them back inside, however, only a third of her internal organs ended up as they should be. This has left the little girl with many gastrointestinal issues including not being able to eat or drink on her own.
Her foster parents – both pediatric ICU nurses – have made sure that she has access to the equipment and support that she needs as she faces her medical battles. In their care, Skyler is able to get proper draining of the bile in her stomach and has access to a wheelchair to help provide mobility. She has a feeding tube so she is able to receive nutrients throughout the day and attends weekly physical, occupational, and speech therapy sessions.
Though faced with many challenges, Skyler has an incredible outlook on life and an even brighter smile. For her wish, Skyler dreamed of visiting Walt Disney World with her family of eight specifically to meet
Minnie Mouse and Minnie’s friends: Mickey, Goofy and Donald Duck. Thanks to generous partners like Desert Radiology, Skyler’s wish came true.
As soon as she stepped off the plane in Orlando and saw that a greeter was waiting for her with a big sign, Skyler knew that she was a bit of a celebrity. She loved using her Disney Wishes pass to get to the front of the lines and while she was a bit nervous around the characters at the beginning of the trip, as soon as she saw Minnie Mouse, she went running up to her like she was reuniting with a longlost friend.
20
I wish to meet Minnie Mouse at Walt Disney World® Skyler, 6 gastrointestinal disorder
Skyler’s mom said the only word she could think of to describe the trip was magical. We’d have to agree.
Desert Radiology 25TH ANNIVERSARY PARTNER
The team at Desert Radiology went all out for Skyler’s wish reveal just as they go all out for every event that they participate in. Their bright teal shirts show up in droves at our annual Walk for Wishes event along with their glowing smiles. For kids like Skyler, their attention to detail and support go above and beyond what is expected of a community partner.
In addition to Make-A-Wish, Desert Radiology proudly supports many local charities and nonprofits, and we love seeing their DR DO-GOODERS – teammates across all of their facilities who regularly come together to volunteer their time to the many organizations they support – all over town. Of course, seeing them support our wish kids has extra-special meaning. We are fortunate to have their medical imaging expertise right here in the Las Vegas Valley and our whole community is better for it.

Meet Kaci
In the summer of 2018, six-year-old Kaci started experiencing swelling in her lymph nodes. After initial antibiotic treatments failed to control the swelling, Kaci endured several months of biopsies, blood tests, and ER visits before determining her diagnosis: leukemia. She immediately began chemotherapy treatments, and she entered a long and grueling road to recovery.
During that exhausting period, she found relief playing outside and spending time with her mom, dad, and twin sister, Cja. The family bonded over their love of adventure and the outdoors, and while Kaci’s initial wish was to go on a trip with her family to Walt Disney World®, the added time she had to determine her wish due to treatments and the pandemic had her reimagining her wish. Kaci had dreamed about visiting Sequoia National Park, going on hikes with her
family, and casting a fishing line for the first time. An RV adventure would give her the opportunity to do all those things in one trip, so a wish was born.
In June of 2022, Kaci’s dad went to pick up the family’s RV rental and brought it over to Dutch Bros Coffee in Las Vegas. Kaci arrived shortly after with her mom and sister to a cheering crowd of over 100 of the drive-through coffee chain’s employees from across the Valley.
I wish to go on an RV camping trip
22
Kaci, 9 leukemia
“Kaci’s story really stood out to us,” said Dutch Bros regional operator Isaac Schaaf. “We wanted to grant her wish, not just for her, but for her family, as well. The most important part was the family’s joy when they saw what was happening. Our team really showed up today.”
Kaci and her family were treated to VIP service from the coffee chain and received a goodie bag filled with items that would come in handy on her camping trip. She also got a tour of the RV her family was about to take to California and a run-down of scheduled activities for her wish trip.
Bros
“Today is really a celebration for us,” said Kaci’s mom, Asano. “Right now, Kaci is doing great. She still goes in for regular check-ups, but she is feeling healthy and really can’t wait for this trip.”
The family’s California adventure included visits to Kaweah Marina, where they rented paddle boards, kayaks, and a fishing boat where Kaci was able to cast her first line. They also enjoyed beautiful Sequoia National Park where they connected with nature by hiking and admiring the rugged foothills, deep canyons, and vast caverns under a canopy of the world’s largest trees.
From sticky s’more fingers to cheeks sore from laughing, Asano gushed that this was the wish that their family needed right now.
“Kaci is such a strong little girl,” she said. “While you never want to see your child suffer through something like this, fighting leukemia really shaped Kaci in many ways, and we are just so grateful for her health and being able to do something like this as a family.”
For Dutch Bros – the coffee company in the relationship business – it’s all about community. Since coming on board to support Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada, Dutch Bros has shown up for local Wish Kids in big ways. From the high-energy employees who eagerly served coffee drinks to participants at our Walk for Wishes event, to the locations across the Valley who teamed up to host a local giveback day where $1 from each drink sold went to our organization, Make-A-Wish has literally seen Dutch Bros’ vision of making a massive difference, one cup at a time, come to life.

Meet Jordan
If there is one thing that five-year-old Jordan knows about, it’s cars. If you’re with him in a parking lot, he can name the make and model of just about every car there.
“He has just always loved cars – how they look, how they sound,” Jordan’s mom, Carrie, said. “It’s become a fun thing to learn about with him as we were always looking for ways to keep things positive during his treatment.”
Diagnosed with leukemia at just 18-months old, Jordan spent much of his upbringing relatively isolated from other kids due to his illness and the pandemic. Before entering remission this past November, Jordan stayed connected to the world through FaceTime and YouTube videos. His love of cars transpired into a love of a YouTube family who also loves cars, specifically Teslas. The family – whose channel, What’s Inside?, has reached nearly 2 million YouTube followers – lives in St. George, Utah and Jordan’s wish was to go and meet them in person.
Thanks to Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada, Jordan’s dream became a reality in April 2022 when his wish was revealed at The Wishing Place in Las Vegas. The charismatic kiddo was greeted by a cheering crowd and a team of Tesla’s that had gathered to kick-off his wish weekend. Jordan ran out of his car straight to the blue carpet clapping his hands before stopping and shouting, “This is so cool!” By the time his mom and dad caught up to him, he was already examining one of the vehicles.
“Between his treatments and COVID, this trip has been two years in the works,” said Jordan’s dad, Greg. “We wanted to make sure when Jordan finally did land on a wish that it was something that he really wanted – not something that we had imagined for him. He has

watched this family on YouTube take apart so many different things. They really have been friends to him – he even knows their pet’s names! This is going to be an absolutely awesome trip and it’s one that he has completely thought up on his own.”
The family made a full vacation out of the experience. They dined in their first restaurant since the onset of the pandemic and enjoyed the sights at Zion National Park before making their way to the What’s Inside? family’s home. The family toured Jordan around – showing him everything from their pool to the studio where they cut things apart.
Superfan Jordan recalled items from each episode and had fun looking through some of items – including dinosaur poop from thousands of years ago – that were on display.
Fabulous Freddy’s 25TH ANNIVERSARY PARTNER
But the real excitement came when the family showed Jordan their garage filled with the Tesla’s of Jordan’s dreams. He checked out the family’s four Tesla cars and had a chance to ride in each of them. The family then presented him with his very own remote control a Hot Wheels RC Cyber Truck before taking him to see their golf simulator and in-ground trampoline.
The day was a dream come true for Jordan and the families really bonded during their visit. We have a feeling this isn’t the last time that they’ll be seeing each other. What’s Inside? also posted a video of the whole meet-and-greet day on their YouTube channel that has amassed nearly 1.2 million views from around the world.
“You don’t know what this means to us,” Greg said. “The number of people who came out to cheer for him at the reveal, our whole Utah experience, everything that Make-A-Wish has done to make this trip possible for our family … we are just so grateful.”
The service and care that Fabulous Freddy’s puts into each customer they encounter ensures that people leave their locations ready to have a fabulous day. It is important that each of our wish kids are treated to the ultimate V.I.P. experience like customers have at Fabulous Freddy’s.

When seven-year-old Sofia learned she was eligible for a wish, she knew exactly what she wanted— her own car! Not an actual car with an engine, but a toy car painted purple (her favorite color).
At about three months old, Sofia was diagnosed with congenital heart disease and entered a medical journey her family wasn’t prepared for. Since receiving her diagnosis, Sofia has undergone two heart surgeries, brain surgery, and takes several medications to ensure she is in good health. To keep her heart extra strong, Sofia follows a strict diet which her entire family also takes part in, so she doesn’t feel alone.
Sofia has always been fascinated by the cars she’s seen on TV; however, the initial inspiration behind Sofia’s wish was a practical one.
She simply wanted something that would help get her to her doctor’s appointments after all the times she felt tired from walking.
On the day of her wish, Sofia and her family arrived in a private limo at Findlay Honda Henderson, where they were given a tour of the newest cars on their lot. Sofia took turns with her siblings sitting in the driver’s seat of a Jaguar and two Teslas, but the biggest surprise still awaited inside the dealership.
Sofia gasped in awe when her purple car was finally revealed! She immediately hopped into her new set of wheels and off she went

“I feel very happy and thankful to Make-A-Wish for making my daughter’s wish come true,” said Sofia’s dad, Jonathan. “To be honest, I didn’t expect it – our whole family is amazed by this.”
Thanks to Sofia’s wish sponsor, Findlay Honda Henderson, Sofia experienced the true power of a wish come true. Sofia will be well-prepared come time for her driver’s test!
Operating for more than 60 years, Findlay
Automotive Group has been giving back to the community since its inception. Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada is fortunate to be just one of the more than 100 local nonprofits/charities that the auto group supports. And they support us in a big way. Multiple Findlay locations across the Valley have stepped in for our Wish Kids and given them everything from classic car makeovers to Sofia’s custom toy car.
When the opportunity presented itself to make something special for Sofia, Findlay stepped in to not only purchase the car, but to customize it completely. This type of care is not unique to Sofia’s purple convertible, it happens with each wish that the automotive group touches. They are constantly upping the bar for our wish kids and have blown us away with the love and dedication that they pour into each child whose wish they support.

Meet Marley
As four tiny, timid paws padded across the showroom floor at Findlay Subaru of Las Vegas, an excited hush fell over the dealership. Princess had arrived.
For six-year-old Marley, Princess was more than just a puppy. The 12-week-old miniature pincher represented hope during a difficult time. She represented joy. For a little girl who has battled many trials in her young life – from a cancer diagnosis to losing sight in her right eye - Princess was a wish years in the making.
“Marley has been talking about having a puppy since she was three years old,” the girl’s grandmother, Becky, said. “She has gone through many periods – especially during the pandemic – where she wasn’t able to go out and interact with the world. She’s really wanted a little companion by her side. Today is going to be a very special day.”
As Marley and her family neared the dealership, the Subaru team put the finishing touches on a welcome table filled with Marley’s favorite
things – from drawing pads to princess-themed games and apparel. Awaiting her at the end of a cheering reception line were the princess items, only to be outdone by Princess herself snuggled down in a soft pink doggy bed in the back of a Subaru.
Marley gasped as she entered the dealership under a hand-crafted pink balloon arch to learn that her wish was coming true. A crowd of employees, Make-A-Wish staff, news reporters and even car shoppers followed the little girl as she excitedly led the way down the reception line to the gifts awaiting her.
“Are these for me?!” she asked as she examined the thoughtful princess-themed display, expressing her pleasure at each individual item. But the true wish was still waiting for her in the next room.

“She’s been waiting for me!” Marley said to the crowd before approaching the tiny puppy.

25TH ANNIVERSARY PARTNER
Princess, who had been trembling since arriving on site, wagged her tail as Marley came closer. As the two connected for the first time, Marley, dressed in tie-dyed overalls and sunglasses, was overcome with joy. Onlookers held back tears as the moment unfolded, and Princess snuggled into the arms of her new best friend.
“I thought we were going to the doctor!” Marley exclaimed to the smiling crowd. The little girl has been making the trek from her home in Pahrump, Nevada to Las Vegas for cancer treatments every other week for the past two years. So frequently, in fact, that Marley has memorized the route. When the family took an unfamiliar turn, she perked up in the backseat, assuming that they were taking a little shopping trip. Little did she know that her wish was coming true.
“For us here at Subaru of Las Vegas, love is at the center of everything that we do – it’s how we live our day,” said Jennifer Vitale, assistant general manager. “Any interactions we have we just try to show love as far and as deep as possible. We were so excited to be able to make Marley’s wish come true today, and we look forward to many more.”
After allowing everyone in the dealership the chance to pet her new puppy and posing for photos, it was time for the family to show Princess her new home.
“She’s really gonna miss you guys!” the little girl yelled out the window as the family’s truck pulled out of the parking lot.
We have a feeling that the little pup is right where she was meant to be.
From wish reveals and vehicle makeovers to signature event sponsorships, Findlay Subaru of Las Vegas is the definition of an excellent community partner. Each employee is referred to as a family member and they have extended that courtesy to Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada. It comes as no surprise then that the team at Findlay Subaru treats each wish kid like a member of their extended family.
Before Marley even saw her puppy, she was blown away by the heartfelt touches that Findlay Subaru had waiting for her. The moment Marley spotted her new puppy, the tears started flowing for everyone in the room.Findlay Subaru was able to take this wish to the next level just like they do for every wish they touch. We are better because of them.

Meet Lucky
Nicknamed, “The Fighter” by his NICU nurses, sweet Lucky made quite an entrance into the world at a mere 26-weeks old, weighing just 1lb 11oz. His early arrival marked the beginning of a journey that continually serves to be both tumultuous and triumphant all at the same time. Lucky currently suffers from spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy, hydrocephalus (water on the brain), and is also blind. During his stint in the NICU, he had his first open heart surgery (weighing just 2lbs) and then an intensive brain surgery at one year old. Because of the multitude of health problems Lucky battles, he requires frequent therapy to ensure that he is able to adapt and progress as best he can.
Despite his extensive list of illnesses, Lucky remains the most jubilant 3-year-old you’ve ever met. His smile melts the entire room, and his giggle is infectious. Just being around Lucky is enough to make any person feel just that: lucky. Lucky to be in his presence and lucky to
experience the joy he radiates. It is a life-changing experience meeting this little guy. Just when you think it couldn’t get any better, you meet his family. Mom, dad, and his two siblings are the motivation and strength that keep Lucky fighting. They are his greatest advocates and

Meet Annie
For nearly two years, 7-year-old Annie slept standing up. Diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease in June of 2019, Annie’s parents learned how to operate her dialysis equipment at home. However, the machines being used for her nocturnal treatments required her to be upright to operate properly.
“We had many sleepless nights,” Luis, Annie’s dad, recalled. “There are so many things that go into dialysis – from sterilization to, in our case, figuring out a way to support Annie so that she could get much-needed rest. We were all tired. When we got the call that there could be a kidney available – we just prayed that it was a match.”
The kidney awaiting Annie was in San Francisco, nine hours from the family’s home in Las Vegas. Luis and Giovanna didn’t hesitate. Together with siblings Ezekiel and Genevive, the family of five made the trek to California, hoping that Annie would be the recipient. She was.
“It was a moment of pure gratitude and relief,” Giovanna said, her eyes
brimming with tears. Now six months post-transplant, Giovanna says that Annie still fatigues easily, but her energy levels and mood have improved tremendously.
“Being able to spend time together as a family without constant worry about Annie has been a huge relief,” Giovanna said. “Don’t get me wrong, Luis and I still have a lot of anxiety when it comes to Annie; it’s just a different kind. We are just in the next part of this journey. Right now, we take it day by day and enjoy our time together as a family.”
When Annie found out that she was eligible to receive her one true wish, she knew that she wanted her whole family to experience it with

her. An aspiring veterinarian, Annie’s wish came to her in a dream where she was milking cows and picking vegetables on a farm. While she lives in the city, Annie’s love of animals grew thanks to a neighbor who had a horse and some chickens that she visited regularly. The animals no longer live next door, but their impact on the little girl was long-lasting.
“She just has a heart for animals,” Giovanna said. “She always has.”
Arriving in Fallon, Nevada, for her wish trip, Annie’s admiration of farm life was immediate. Stepping into the guesthouse at the Frey Ranch, where the family stayed, her eyes immediately went to the cowgirl outfit sitting on the bottom bunk. Local seamstress, Rebecca, found out that Annie was coming to Fallon and wanted to contribute. She provided jeans and a western-style shirt along with sparkly boots and a cowgirl hat. Annie didn’t hesitate to jump right into the outfit.
That enthusiasm continued throughout Annie’s entire trip to the small farming community. The little girl embraced each aspect of the experience, from bottle-feeding piglets, baby goats, and a baby calf; to harvesting seeds, riding a tractor, and making homemade ice cream. She even hopped right up on a horse called Tiny for a ride around the fairgrounds but admitted that “Tiny was his name, but he wasn’t tiny, he was big.”
The same might be said about the impact that little Annie had on the town of Fallon. “I’ve been a little nervous about today because I didn’t want to disappoint,” Isidro Alves, owner of Sand Hill Dairy, said. “I wanted to make sure there were smiles on faces, and I think we got that. Just seeing her walking alongside the cows and riding in the tractor around the grounds … you could tell she was in her element. I’m going to carry this day with me. I feel fortunate to have been a small part of her wish, and I know the whole town feels the same.”
Those sentiments were echoed by community members across the city.
The health and safety of our kids is at the top of our list when it comes to granting wishes. For GeoComply – a global leader helping to build a safer, more secure internet for all – it is imperative that their technology, intelligence, and time are focused on making a positive impact. Here in Las Vegas, that means that the GeoComply team is engaged in our community and collaborates with nonprofits like Make-A-Wish to deliver hope.
Thanks to partners like GeoComply, Annie was able to ride a horse and kiss a pig for the first time. And probably not the last.

Meet Odessa
I wish to go to New York City for Christmas
Odessa, 9 cystic fibrosis
Mere hours after she was born, Oddessa’s doctors diagnosed her with cystic fibrosis - a lung condition that makes it incredibly difficult for her to breathe properly, and often leads to persistent lung infections. To combat the symptoms, Oddessa had her first surgery when she was three days old, and now maintains a daily treatment regimen of vest therapy and breathing treatments that help increase her lung function. But that doesn’t stop her from being a force to be reckoned with. In fact, it’s only made her more determined!
Today, nine-year-old Oddessa, has a zest for life that brings love and joy to everyone she encounters. She loves playing games, listening to her favorite songs, and meeting new people. Her ability to remain so playful and optimistic is quite the feat given the trials and tribulations that this spunky girl must endure every day.
When Make-A-Wish volunteers met with Oddessa and her family to discover what her one true wish was, she knew exactly what she
wanted - a trip to New York City during Christmas! “Everyone goes to New York City for Christmas!” she proclaimed.
On National Believe Day 2018, Oddessa found out her wish was coming true with a surprise reveal at Macy’s Downtown Summerlin. Complete with a snow machine, a visit from Santa and a performance by The Nutcracker ballerinas, Oddessa was treated to a true winter wonderland experience.
34
Soon after, Oddessa and her family flew to New York City for a trip packed with Christmas fun. They embarked on a holiday lights tour where they spotted brilliant window displays and familiar filming locations from Elf, Home Alone, and many more Christmas classics. Oddessa was dazzled by the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular in Radio City Music Hall and whizzed around the famous ice-skating rink at Rockefeller Center under the huge and stunningly decorated tree. They also took full advantage of their trip and went sightseeing to visit iconic New York landmarks, like the Statue of Liberty, FAO Schwarz and Time Square.

Meet Divinity
Diagnosed at eight-years-old with Lupus, sweet and caring Divinity went from being a regular kid to having to adopt a completely different lifestyle to accommodate her condition. Every other week, Divinity goes to the doctor for infusions and chemotherapy. In addition to that, her home care requires her to take a high dose of steroids and monitor her blood pressure.
Doctors have also been concerned with the results of a recent biopsy on her kidneys and continue to monitor her very carefully. If the condition worsens, additional surgeries will be required.
The shy little girl with a funny, goofy side maintains a positive attitude with the help of her three siblings, dad and stepmom. She enjoys swimming, playing with her tablet, LOL dolls, and cooking with her stepmom. Her current favorite dish is alfredo pasta.
Upon stepping into the Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada office, Divinity was inspired by photos of other Wish Kids who had visited Disney’s Aulani resort in Hawaii. As someone who loves water as well as Disney, the Hawaiian resort seemed to be a perfect blend for the little girl’s wish trip.
The team at Greenberg Traurig put lots of time and effort into making Divinity’s wish reveal a huge success! She showed up to the Make-AWish Southern Nevada office and was surprised to find a team of well-

wishers from Greenberg Traurig there to cheer her on. They outfitted her in a Hawaiian skirt and lei and decked out the room in Hawaiian gear. They had her favorite dish, chicken alfredo, waiting for her as well. She had no idea that her wish was about to come true until showing up that day!
Divinity’s trip to Hawaii was everything that she had hoped for. Upon arrival, she was greeted with a fresh lei and embraced by the aloha spirit. She was able to play in the sand with her siblings and race down the waterslides at the resort’s pool. The resort also arranged for a special meet-and-greet with Disney characters.
While in Hawaii, Divinity and her family were able to visit Rainbow Reef, a saltwater lagoon home to thousands of tropical fish, snorkel among beautiful native species, decorate her own surfboard, and dance with her favorite Disney pals. It was truly a vacation that she will never forget.
Since the company’s humble beginnings in 1967, Greenberg Traurig has focused on one thing: serving clients better. Whether that refers to the awardwinning work that the law firm produces or its philanthropic and volunteer efforts, Greenberg Traurig walks the walk when it comes to making an impact in the communities that they serve.

In Memory Of … Ethan
Remembered for his giant bear hugs, caring and intelligent mind, effortless optimism, and infectious smile and dimples, Ethan’s time on earth was short but incredibly impactful. Before peacefully passing in 2021 of complications related to a highly aggressive brain tumor, Ethan’s wish to have a gaming computer came true.
At just 4 months old, Ethan developed his first brain tumor which led to an invasive surgery and five years of quarterly MRIs. With the potential for relapse ever present, Ethan’s family was able to breathe easier when, at age five, his scans remained clear. For the next eight years, Ethan lived a full, joy-filled life without relapse.
Ethan’s interests spanned far and wide – from partaking in early morning jogs to playing video games with his best friends and cousins. He also had an ear for music and developed a love of Classical and
New Age genres as he learned to play the guitar. He also had an insatiable love of food and was always eager to try new dishes from around the world.
Unfortunately, at age 13, the unthinkable occurred and Ethan developed a new highly aggressive brain tumor. Following emergency brain surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, Ethan continued to battle his cancer with fortitude and courage. One of the things that kept his heart joy-filled was the prospect of a heartfelt wish come true.
I wish to have a gaming computer

Ethan, 13 brain tumor
Ethan’s ever-curious mind was interested in learning how to build his own PC and understand how they work. Upon learning about Ethan’s wish, the team at House Advantage went all out to design a custom gaming setup for the teenager. Upon his arrival to House Advantage, a digital display featuring some of Ethan’s favorite video game characters filled the wall space around him. He was overcome with gratitude.
Ethan’s wish continued at Gordon Ramsay Burger, owned by his favorite chef, and even experienced a celebrity siting. It was a day of pure joy for Ethan and his whole family including his parents and brother, Christian.
Ethan’s time on earth was spent pouring love into those around him and doing things that made his heart happy. His mentor and close friend from Candlelighter’s remembered him as a big personality who was able to create a happy space for kids in similar circumstances through his sense of humor and entertaining spirit. An old soul who will be remembered as forever young.
House Advantage*
As a leader in gaming and technology innovation, House Advantage was the perfect collaborator on Ethan’s wish. The company utilized their time and resources to create an unforgettable experience for Ethan. Not only was he getting a gaming system, he was getting an experience. The joy that this wish brought Ethan during an incredibly difficult period allowed him to step outside of his illness, albeit for a moment, and just be a kid.
House Advantage’s dedication to Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada is seen across various facets of the business – from their support of events and wishes like Ethan’s, to holding a seat in the board room. We are better because of their dedication to our mission.

Meet Riley
WISHES HAPPEN HERE!
In the summer of 2012, Riley started staring off and feeling ill. Not knowing what was wrong, his parents rushed him to the hospital and doctors discovered that he was having a seizure. Riley seized for nearly 14 hours before the medical team got it under control.
As the years went by, Riley’s doctors administered medicine and performed surgeries to relieve the symptoms of an extreme form of epilepsy, but nothing stuck. After much consideration and with the support of his family, Riley underwent a very risky brain surgery that succeeded in eliminating his seizures but resulted in paralysis on the left side of his body.
Now seizure-free, Riley was forced to relearn how to do everything, from walking to showering. Despite this massive obstacle, he was determined to get his strength up. Almost one year after his surgery,
Riley walked out of the hospital, proving to his doctors and family that he was well enough to travel for his one true wish.
Riley’s desire to be in law enforcement goes way back to his childhood. He dressed up as a different member of law enforcement every Halloween and struck up a friendly relationship with his local police department. His room is decked out in police memorabilia gifted to him, including badges, gear and handcuffs.
But after seeing the coverage of the One October tragedy in Las

Vegas, Riley was deeply impressed, watching how the power of law enforcement brought the community together. That’s when Riley realized his one true wish. Riley wished to be a police officer, but not in his home state of New Jersey. Inspired by the acts of bravery he watched on his TV, Riley specifically wanted to join the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
“I chose to be a Las Vegas police officer because of the way they serve and protect the community every day, because of how the officers went in and tried to protect and serve everyone that night,” he explained.
On September 30th, 2019, the day before the second anniversary of the shooting, Riley’s wish came true. After a surprise police escort to the airport coordinated by Make-A-Wish New Jersey, Riley and his parents traveled across the country to start his police officer training at the Northwest Area Command’s Jerry Keller Training Facility.
Riley had a jam-packed day with the LVMPD. Shortly after his arrival at the Academy, he donned his utility belt and dove straight into basic defensive training, where he learned everything from handcuffing to flashlight manipulation. Afterwards, he met Sheriff Joe Lombardo and was introduced to the SWAT team, Air, K-9 and Motor Units.
After some additional training, Riley and the fellow members of his “Blue” Class took a group photo. There, his fellow recruits presented him with a custom-made plaque they had all signed. Now armed with a wealth of information and newly acquired skills, Officer Riley put on his official uniform and graduated from the training academy.
The fun wasn’t over yet! Now an “official” officer, Riley attended a reallife briefing and then went out on his first call, a simulated robbery scenario. Using everything he learned that day, Riley and his squad pulled up to the scene, apprehended two suspects and cleared an entire office building.

From participating in Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada’s inaugural Trailblaze Challenge to making wishes like Riley’s come true, the team at Las Vegas Metro Police Department (LVMPD) is dedicated to making the community a better place.
LVMPD pulled out all the stops to make Riley’s wish special, including introducing the teen to Officer Brady Cook, who was shot responding to the One October tragedy. It was Officer Cook’s first shift as a police officer. During their conversation, Riley got an in-depth look at what it truly means to protect and serve. We are so happy to have their support for wishes like these and on our board of directors.

Meet Nicolas
Nicolas, also known as Nickle Pickle to those who know and love him, is a special and unique threeyear-old boy who is always ready for a new adventure. He has a vibrant personality that comes to life any time there’s music, dancing or light up toys. Nicolas is a happy boy who loves to laugh. He has the special gift of becoming your best friend as soon as you meet him.
Feeling the wind in his hair and sunshine on his face is difficult for Nicolas. Respiratory failure has forced him to spend most of his life in the hospital, dependent on breathing equipment and undergoing numerous surgeries. Nicolas’ mom has always wanted to take him to a playground to play with other kids, but the risk of infection is too high due to his medical condition. When thinking about his wish, it was clear that the most meaningful wish would be one that allowed Nicolas to enjoy being outside and play freely but protected from
elements that can cause harm. So, Nicolas’ wish was to an outdoor play space of his very own was born!
A team of community partners from across the Valley came together to make this wish happen including the generous team at MartinHarris Construction. Working with the families and getting to know the children is always a great honor.”

Meet Angel
At the age of six, Angel was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder. Although he has had his fair share of problems and complications with his diagnosis, Angel is a happy and affectionate child who always has a positive attitude.
Angel’s routine consists of taking daily medication as part of a trial, which has made an immense impact on improving his energy. He also participates in skin biopsies to test the medication’s effectiveness. Thanks to brave kids like Angel, the medication he is taking has now been approved to be on the market!
The 14-year-old boy loves painting and watching videos on his phone as well as the Star Wars movies! Due to his medical condition, Angel cannot participate in many physical activities that other kids his age are able to. When it came to deciding his heartfelt wish, Angel knew
having a blue laptop would bring him so much happiness. Not only is blue his favorite color but having a laptop will also give the teenager the opportunity to play videogames with his friends and watch all the YouTube videos he wants.
On the day of his wish, Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada partnered with Star Wars Club of Nevada to surprise Angel with the laptop of his dreams on Star Wars Night at the Las Vegas Ballpark. When Angel and his family arrived via limo at the ballpark, they walked inside to find a whole group of Star Wars characters waiting for them, just enough to

form a star fleet! The group welcomed Angel as a fellow Jedi Knight and was at last handed his blue laptop along with his very own custom light saber! Wielding his new gadgets, Angel couldn’t leave without capturing photos with his favorite Rebels before making his way to a VIP suite to catch the Aviators baseball game with his family.
On his big day, Angel received everything he had wished for and more. Now, he can continue along his medical journey with some new entertainment to keep him motivated and hopeful for the future.

Meet Holly
When Holly arrived at The Wishing Place in a white stretch limo, she still had no idea what the day ahead of her would hold.
Diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer in 2021, the eight-year-old girl is no stranger to the unknown. Since waking up in the hospital after being intubated for an entire month, Holly has experienced many lows from her diagnosis. The silver lining that has motivated her to remain strong and push through treatment is her favorite YouTube channel, PurpleStars02.
A cheerful and energetic personality, Kayla Ann, better known as her YouTube persona PurpleStars02, has played a tremendous part in Holly’s journey towards recovery. Hearing Kayla’s voice during her bouts of chemotherapy kept a smile on Holly’s face and provided comfort to the young girl during some of the scariest moments of her life.
Eventually, Kayla came to learn about Holly’s story and connected with her family on social media. Kayla and Holly’s pen pal-like friendship grew over the past year, and they eagerly looked forward to the day they would finally get the chance to meet each other in person. However, with the two living on opposite sides of the country, the possibility of them meeting was put on hold…until now.
The moment she saw Kayla waiting for her in front of The Wishing Place, Holly jumped out of the limo and straight into Kayla’s arms. Holly’s wish had finally come true, and she wasn’t going to waste any second they had together.
I wish to meet PurpleStars02

Holly L., 8 cancer
From there, Holly and Kayla made their way to their first stop at Target, where they ventured on a shopping spree for all sorts of lip balms and glosses. The duo picked out nearly $400’s worth of Lip Smacker lip balms and princess-themed glosses, all in the yummiest flavors like “Cuddle Me Creamsicle” and “Springtime Smores!”
But where would they go to try on their Target haul? The two set off to their next stop—the Red Rock Spa located inside Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa. Greeted by the entire staff, Holly and Kayla walked hand-in-hand into the spa where they had their own private room to test out their Target finds for Kayla’s next YouTube video.
Nevada State Bank 25TH ANNIVERSARY PARTNER
To get ready for her closeup, Holly was first treated to a full glam makeover by one of the salon’s very own makeup artists, complete with false eyelashes, blush, and a ton of glitter! Holly was at last ready to make her YouTube debut.
Holly’s mom Aimee recounted every time Holly would talk about the moment her and Kayla would finally get to meet and go shopping together. “When Holly had recently gotten off the ventilator, she had talked about doing this with Kayla,” said Aimee. “That was at a time when we didn’t know we were going to ever have the chance to do that with Holly.”
The entire day, Holly was surrounded by the people who loved her the most and stood by her side every second of her recovery. From her first days at the hospital to the moment she became a YouTube star with her idol, Holly experienced a transformation like no other on the day of her wish.
“Today’s just been a wonderful day,” said Aimee. “It’s been a dream come true.”

Meet Mariska
To 5-year-old Mariska, a princess embodies poise, courage, strength and a touch of glam. When imagining her wish day, Mariska saw herself dancing in a whimsical dress surrounded by her closest friends and family. A princess ball in all its glory. With the help of Rock the Tea and Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Mariska’s royal extravaganza became a reality.
Described by her family as a positive little girl who loves to sing, Mariska has faced many battles with the strength of a true heroine. She spent the first year and a half of her life in the hospital where she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. She has a g-button to receive food and her daily medication, a chest vest to massage her lungs, and a CPAP to improve lung function and inspiratory muscle function. Despite all that she has endured at a young age, Mariska is a pro at straightening her crown and spreading joy to those around her.
There was no shortage of joy on Mariska’s wish day. Stepping out of her limo in a whimsical dress with sparkly shoes, Mariska and her closest friends and family were given the royal treatment the entire day by the team at Rock the Tea. The group enjoyed princess makeovers, a dress up fashion show, a tea party, and a surprise visit from Elsa herself! After a day of fun, the group sat down to enjoy Mariska’s favorite meal, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers.

Strength comes in many forms. Mariska’s courageous battle with cystic fibrosis means that she is called upon to manifest that strength more than the average kid. She loved the opportunity to be pampered alongside her royal entourage. When she faces difficult days ahead, we know that she will look back on this day as a source of strength and hope. She certainly has what it takes to rule a kingdom.
Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers
When 5-year-old Mariska was asked what she wanted for lunch on her wish day, the little girl didn’t hesitate for a moment … Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers were at the top of her list. The concept – a restaurant that only serves chicken fingers – may have been shut down several times before coming to fruition, but once the restaurant opened its doors, it hasn’t looked back. With a Labrador Retriever as the company’s namesake, this company is all about making people smile. In fact, their support for us is so great that they did a special 25th birthday plush puppy campaign where proceeds benefited Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada. We are better for it, and appreciate their continued support.

Meet Fabian
Fabian is a smart and driven 18-year-old who has dreams of making a difference. Fabian loves learning, playing soccer, and spending time with his family. A noble soul who treats people with respect and enjoys being of service to others, Fabian is described by his family as a real-life hero. Fabian has been through a lot, but he has a lot to look forward to including attending college in the fall at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Diagnosed with cancer in 2018, Fabian has been on a medical journey full of biopsies, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments. Yet, his hopeful heart and a positive mindset have helped keep him motivated and focused on what matters – his future. One of Fabian’s biggest dreams is to study medicine with the goal of becoming a nurse. When it came to Fabian’s wish, he knew he wanted something that was going to have a lasting effect on his future, which is why he wished for financial assistance with college tuition.
Thanks to Fabian’s wish sponsor, Rig-Rents, his wish became a reality just
in time for him to start college in the fall. Not only will Fabian be a firstgeneration college graduate in the years to come, he will also be the first person in his family to pursue a career in the medical field. His wish reveal was a complete surprise to both Fabian and his family.
I wish to have assistance with college tuition Fabian, 18 cancer
After going through so much, this makes me feel like I’m on the other side of all the bad things that have happened. Only good things can come from here.

— Fabian, wish kid
What he thought was a normal meeting at The Wishing Place turned into a safe and fun socially distanced celebration consisting of balloons, goodie bags filled with UNLV swag, and a big check with Fabian’s name on it. Students from UNLV who are currently studying medicine also attended to answer any questions Fabian might have about his upcoming classes. Fabian’s wish reveal also coincided with his birthday weekend! Now that Fabian is equipped with all the necessities to take college by storm, we can’t wait to see all he accomplishes.
RIG-RENTS
25TH ANNIVERSARY PARTNER
When it comes to their customers, RIG-RENTS takes great pride in going the extra mile. We are so fortunate that the company shares that same generous, customer-focused mentality with each wish that they support.
For Fabian, this meant setting up an incredible reveal to let him know that his wish to be the first college graduate in his family was coming true. For our Wish Moms, this means a bouquet of flowers on their child’s wish day to reiterate that the whole family matters.
No matter the size or complexity of the ask, RIG-RENTS shows up. To date, the company has granted more than 20 wishes for our local Southern Nevada chapter, and they show no signs of slowing down.

Meet Colin
Meet Colin, an energetic 10-year-old with a passion and soaring talent for hockey. Colin loves playing outside and is often shooting hoops on the basketball field or monkeying around on the playground. However, Colin’s favorite activity is playing hockey. After a long day of passing the puck on the ice, you might find this guy propped up in front of the TV, sipping down a hot bowl of chicken noodle soup, and curling up with his family to watch NHL or his favorite movie, Monsters Inc.
What you might not guess about this active kiddo is that Colin was diagnosed with leukemia in 2018, a week before Thanksgiving. This diagnosis was devastating to Colin and his family, but luckily this family knows how to put up a good fight. Colin has undergone multiple grueling chemo treatments over the last two years, some sessions as close as ten days apart.
Colin’s one true wish is to attend hockey camp at Gretzky Hockey School in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. The camp is known to be one of the premier hockey experiences for youth hockey
players of all ages and is run by Wayne Gretzky’s son, Ty. As Colin’s truest passion, he had dreamed of being able to attend the camp and thanks to Make-A-Wish and the Coeur d’Alene Hockey Association (CDAHA), that wish came true.
The family had a difficult time describing how incredible the experience was. Colin was provided a specific program around his skill level that included instruction for individual skill, strength and knowledge of the game. He learned training habits that will stay with him throughout his athletic career and met people who

were both supportive and constructive in his development as a player and person.
The highlight of the entire camp, however, was when Colin and his family were invited to privately meet Wayne Gretzky on the golf course. Joining Gretzky was his wife Janet Jones, along with former NHL player, Jeremy Roenick, and former NFL quarterbacks, Mark Rypien and John Elway.
Southwest Medical Part of OptumCare
25TH ANNIVERSARY PARTNER
“The trip was absolutely amazing,” said Colin’s dad. “Colin did not want to come home. Thank you for everything, it was absolutely incredible. This will be hard to ever top for our family.”
The team at Southwest Medical part of OptumCare is all about being a valued part of our community, putting the health of their patients above all. So, when their team had the opportunity to be a part of Colin’s wish reveal, they made sure that he was the star of the show. They put together a basket filled with Colin’s favorite things and showed up at the hockey rink to surprise him.
For over 50 years, Southwest Medical has worked diligently to improve health care in Nevada and in the Las Vegas community. We are proud that they not only show up for their community on site, but also outside of their offices as well. The company has been offering their support to Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada since 2016 – from partnering on events like Walk for Wishes to adopting wishes like Colins’. We are so grateful for their support.

Meet Doron
Doron loves playing with his friends and being outdoors. He especially loves playing team sports like football and baseball with the other members of his school teams. He is known for being very funloving, having a big heart, and being very empathetic to and considerate of the needs of others.
After his diagnosis of Hodgkin’s lymphoma in the fall of 2017, Doron could no longer be on the teams he enjoyed so much. For months, he had to spend his days in the hospital for treatments, including a round of chemotherapy.
But there was a bright spot to Doron’s time in treatment - rooting for the Vegas Golden Knights during their debut season. They were Las Vegas’ team, they were his team, and as the VGK beat their opponents during their unprecedented run to the Stanley Cup Finals, Doron too felt like he could beat his condition.
Now in remission and back to playing team sports (including a new one - hockey!), Doron had to think about what the most meaningful wish would be to him. Though he considered travelling with his family, he knew his one true wish was one that would keep him on his home turf - to meet the Vegas Golden Knights! Doron hoped that he would be able to attend a team practice, sit on the bench with the players, and get goalie tips from his favorite player, Marc-André Fleury.
On Doron’s wish day, he was told that he was going to be getting into a helicopter to film a commercial for one of the hospitals where

he was receiving treatment. Instead, as the helicopter flew over City National Arena, the pilot told Doron to look at the stadium marquee. Instead of a picture of a Golden Knight, there was a picture of Doron in a Golden Knights jersey. Doron was shocked – his wish was coming true that day!
As soon as the helicopter landed, Doron was whisked off to the arena in a limo, complete with a police escort courtesy of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. As they turned the corner, the sounds of the Knight Line and hundreds of cheering VGK staff welcomed the family as they pulled right up to the player entrance.

Doron made his day-long contract official, then Marc-André Fleury and Deryk Engelland escorted him to the private players’ lounge for a quick meal with the team before suiting up. Fleury personally helped Doron lace up in his brand-new hockey gear to get ready for his big entrance.
You could see the wide grin on Doron’s face even through the goalie mask as his name was announced on the speaker and he made his way onto the ice. The lights in the arena flashed and Doron skated through the tunnel of Golden Aces, high-fiving Chance the mascot as he headed out to join the other players for his first lap.
While his family watched from the stands, Doron skated with the players and then headed to the net. As Fleury gave him pointers, Doron turned away shot after shot from the Golden Knights.
With a final “Go Knights Go!” chant, Doron took a victory lap, his one true wish granted.
ESPN featured Doron’s wish on their “My Wish” series in 2019. Special thanks to the Vegas Golden Knights, ESPN, and everyone in the Las Vegas community who made this day truly unforgettable.
The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation serves as the primary charitable link between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Las Vegas community. As the first major sports franchise to represent Las Vegas, wish kids across the country have dreamed of skating with the Golden Knights as their one heartfelt wish. For Doron, his experience with the Golden Knights started as something that captured his attention while undergoing chemotherapy, went on to be an exciting wish day with the team, and now serves as inspiration as he looks to play hockey at a collegiate level.
The Foundation has not only been a source of hope for our wish kids, it also has brought inspiration to our organization. From sponsoring major events to making wishes like Doron’s come true, the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation truly serves to inspire the Las Vegas community and become agents of growth and change.

Meet Arelio
At two-years-old, Arelio was diagnosed with leukemia and went through a very intense treatment period. While he was in the hospital during the first treatment round, all he could think about was going home. He missed being with his family more than anything.
Now eight-years-old, the little boy is currently in the maintenance treatment phase where he is receiving a gentler outpatient chemo and having regular checkups with doctors. He loves watching his favorite TV show, The Power Rangers, and spending time swimming with his family.
Throughout his journey, Arelio’s family has kept his spirits up. He’s close to all of his siblings, and has shared a room with his sister for years. However, he has always dreamed of having a room of his very own. His family agreed that the Make-A-Wish team could convert the loft space in their home so that Arelio’s wish to have a room of his very own could come true.
He asked for a full gaming setup along with a lofted bed and a set of chairs and controllers so that he could play alongside his best friend, his brother. The day came as a total surprise to the little boy after having his initial wish – to stay in a beautiful beach house – put on hold due to the pandemic. He was overwhelmed with happiness and even shed a few tears at the reveal, thanking the Make-A-Wish team of volunteers over and over again.
Arelio’s new setup will bring him – and his siblings! – joy for years to come.

I wish to have a shopping spree Arelio, 8 leukemia
At VideoPoker.com, practice makes perfect. The company focuses on strategy and encourages its customers to take the time to learn a skill at home before putting it into practice. For Arelio, he had learned that after 8 years of having his brother as a roommate, he was ready to break free and have a space to call his own. Arelio decided that a shopping spree would allow him to shop for items to personalize a space of his own.
Thanks to the generous support of VidoePoker.com, wish kids like Arelio are able to experience a heartfelt wish. Was the effort successful? We will let Arelio’s tears of joy upon seeing his room reveal speak for themselves. However, he made sure to get a second controller for his biggest supporter, his brother. We are also grateful for VideoPoker.com’s continued support of our Walk for Wishes event.
