The film and TV production industry in British Columbia (B C ) has played a vital role in generating more than 60,000 direct and indirect jobs Impressively a staggering 80 percent of these jobs are concentrated within the vibrant city of Vancouver It comes as no surprise that this thriving region has earned the welldeserved name of "Hollywood North "

Based on our research, the growing popularity of filming production in Vancouver has posed challenges for smaller industries in finding suitable accommodations during film shoots. Users in the industry are also seeking more meaningful connections within the field

The restaurant's decor mimics the lush and vivid atmosphere of the Amazon, complete with natural textures, greenery, and fanciful details that create an enchanting ambiance for guests to immerse themselves in from the moment they walk in the door.

THE JARDIN HOME

Project Description

The Urrego family who were born and raised in Columbia are searching for a fresh start to raise their family in Vancouver BC. They realized that they needed assistance in finding alternative methods for producing their own food as 60% of their family income is spent on purchasing food based on their past experiences in their old home

The purpose of this project was to create a design that meets the requirements of the Urrego family. The approach involved researching previous examples that used efficient lighting techniques and crop growth to reduce expenses. The project was driven by incorporating gardening into the home experience

04

The concept for the Jardin Home was to create opportunities for gardening not just on the exterior of the home but within it, blending the gardening aspect and regular home tasks together Our goal is to utilize the source of natural light to uplift and cater to plan growth within the spaces of the home

This concept statement highlights the idea that gardening within the home is sustainable/affordable for low-income families to produce their own goods, as well as focus on connecting with others

Developed Strategies

1

Horizontal and vertical garden/biophilic elements blended into every zone of the house

2

Garden and Entrance

For the gardening spaces I aimed to create emphasis on the plants and greenery with natural tones. However, I also wanted to strike a balance by incorporating pops of lively colours that reflect the family s Colombian background Therefore creating a peaceful alcove where one can truly enjoy the beauty of nature.

Living Room and Dining

To create a calming look in the living space, I aimed to emulate the outdoor environment while prioritizing comfort. I incorporated organic and round pieces that evoke a sense of tranquillity. Additionally hints of colour and texture were carefully chosen to bring nature's character into the space

The dining space is conveniently located adjacent to the living room, allowing for outdoor dining in a natural setting while remaining connected to the home s kitchen The use of warm neutral tones creates a welcoming atmosphere without overwhelming visual busyness, allowing the vibrant biophilia of the plants and grown vegetables to become the focal point
