As of spring 2025, Saddle Woods Farm officially relaunched, offering a beautifully remodeled venue and a fresh, elevated guest experience. Nestled among the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee just outside of Franklin, the 25-acre estate is a hidden gem that provides the perfect balance of privacy, charm, and natural beauty.
Recently acquired by Infinity Hospitality, a renowned full-service special event company, the all-new Saddle Woods Farm takes the barn wedding experience and elevates it to an exclusive level of contemporary luxury, Southern aesthetic, and modern comfort.
Since reopening this year, Saddle Woods has already hosted four weddings and events, the second of which was the wedding of Caleb Spearing and his wife Tori. Caleb owns Syndicate Design and Construction, which provided contracting services for the facility's renovations.
“While barn weddings are a popular choice, it's rare to find one that feels elevated and unexpected,” said Nathaniel Beaver, President and Owner of Infinity Hospitality. “We saw the need for a more upscale, modern barn venue that stood out from the rest — and Caleb and his team brought our vision to life.”
Infinity Hospitality is an all-inclusive private event company that offers event planning, styling and design services, catering, vendor management, and event staffing at Saddle Woods Farm, The Bridge Building, The Bell Tower, and The Estate at Cherokee Dock. Founded in 2011, Infinity Hospitality was established as a provider of dynamic events and fine dining, and today provides groups of all sizes with unparalleled service and attention to detail.
From its newly reimagined cedar barn to its open-air elegance of its outdoor terrace, every space at the new Saddle Woods Farm has been thoughtfully redesigned to reflect timeless style and contemporary comfort. Upon entering the property, guests are greeted with an all-new entrance, which welcomes patrons in a luxurious fashion and also makes the front entrance easy to find and enter. This gated entrance includes a wide, easy-access stone roadway, abundant natural landscaping and flora, and striking backlit signage that creates a unique nighttime experience.
One of the venue’s most exciting enhancements was the construction of an outdoor pavilion adjacent to the Saddle Woods indoor event barn. This new pavilion greatly expands guest options for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and other events. A stunning blend of rustic charm and modern elegance, the pavilion offers direct access to the 400-guest barn, creating a unique indoor/ outdoor event experience that can be enjoyed year-round.
The newly transformed Saddle Woods barn strikes the perfect balance between timeless character and refined sophistication. With its bold black exterior and bright, airy white interior, the space creates a breathtaking setting for any event. Equipped with state-of-the-art HVAC for year-round comfort and modern lighting to craft the perfect ambiance, this versatile venue is designed to elevate any celebration with style and functionality.
Updates to the cedar wood barn space also include the addition of a large stone walkway leading to the barn entrance. This inviting new walkway serves as both an event access point and as an additional area for hospitality, photos, and mingling. The elegantly landscaped area includes a fountain centerpiece, intricate stonework, multiple platforms, and picturesque flowers and greenery. ADA-accessible, the walkway allows guests to enter both the indoor barn and the new outdoor pavilion.
THE RENOVATIONS ALSO INTRODUCED A BRAND-NEW TERRACE, A SERENE OPEN-AIR SETTING FEATURING A SPACIOUS CONCRETE FOUNDATION SURROUNDED BY NATURAL BEAUTY, MAKING IT THE PERFECT LOCATION FOR CEREMONIES, COCKTAIL HOURS, OR RECEPTIONS.
The renovations also introduced a brand-new terrace, a serene open-air setting featuring a spacious concrete foundation surrounded by natural beauty, making it the perfect location for ceremonies, cocktail hours, or receptions. Just off the terrace, guests can gather around a large built-in fire pit, which serves as an inviting spot for cocktails, conversation, or a cozy end to the evening.
In addition, Saddle Woods remodeled its Bridal Cottage and Groom’s Quarters, which serve as relaxation and prep areas for wedding parties. The newly remodeled Bridal Cottage exudes a light, airy coastal charm. It features elegant furnishings, chic seating areas, and stylish hair and makeup stations, making it the perfect space for relaxation and preparation. Large windows bathe the room in natural light, and a delightful wrap-around porch and backyard offer serene outdoor space. This luxurious haven creates a serene and inspiring atmosphere for brides and their parties on their special day.
The Groom’s Quarters offers a rich, masculine ambiance perfect for relaxation and camaraderie. This space is designed for comfort and entertainment, featuring leather couches, a pool table, and large TVs. Warm wood tones and stylish decor create an inviting atmosphere, while the bar area provides a sophisticated touch. This retreat is the ideal setting for grooms and their parties to unwind and prepare for the big day.
Saddle Woods Farm is an unforgettable event destination that combines Southern charm, timeless elegance, and luxurious modern amenities. Every space has been thoughtfully redesigned from the newly reimagined cedar barn to the openair elegance of the Saddle Woods terrace. n

Northwest Florida shares in the state’s rich maritime history. Along the beautiful and diverse miles of the Northwest Florida coast, beacons stand tall, shining a light on the region’s coastal culture and providing enjoyment and education for thousands of visitors each year.
Stretching from east of Pensacola westward toward Tallahassee, along Interstate 10 and beyond, this region is a popular destination for summer travel and all year long. It is filled with inland waterways, classic small towns, and a variety of attractions, on the beaches and off. One constant theme here is an appreciation of the area’s maritime history and the culture it has created.
Lighthouses have served as navigational aids for hundreds of years, marking ports and warning of hazards. Three of these guiding lights still stand along the Northwest Florida coast. Along with them, a host of other maritime attractions welcome visitors all year long.
Crooked River Lighthouse has stood watch since 1896 in Carrabelle, on a stretch of the Gulf some call the Forgotten Coast. The iron skeleton structure was restored in 2007 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Decommissioned in 1995, the refurbished lighthouse sits amid a five-acre city park alongside the Keeper’s House Museum. The lighthouse’s original Fourth Order Fresnel lens is now on display in the museum on site. The lighthouse and museum are open Wednesday through Sunday. The site also hosts moonlit evening events as well as a farmer’s market, art shows, and other special events throughout the year.
Nearby, in the waterfront downtown area, the Carrabelle History Museum chronicles more maritime history. The museum is filled with exhibits telling the colorful stories of the people, culture, industries, and lore that have played a role in the coastal community’s history.
Cape St. George Lighthouse, which stands on the white sand beaches near Apalachicola, is a shining example of resilience. Originally built in 1833 on Little St. George Island, it had to be rebuilt in 1848 and 1852. In 2005, the lighthouse collapsed into the Gulf, succumbing to the relentless wave action and beach erosion. Local agencies and community groups salvaged pieces of the destroyed structure and cleaned up thousands of recovered bricks. With the original lighthouse plans in hand, a new structure was reconstructed on St. George Island, using as much of the original materials as possible. It opened to the public in 2008. A replica of the original keeper’s house, now the Keeper’s Museum, along with a visitors center and playground, are also on the grounds.
The Apalachicola Maritime Museum is temporarily closed for extensive renovations. The museum is a staple along the working waterfront of this historic downtown, and the redesigned facility will be a stellar addition to the list of maritime attractions in the region.
Cape San Blas Lighthouse was initially put into operation in 1849 on Cape San Blas, a spit of land that juts out into the Gulf from the crook of the narrow St. Joseph's peninsula, located near Port St. Joe, Florida. Through its years of service, the lighthouse was plagued by storms, fires, attacks by Union troops, and more. In 2012, the lighthouse was decommissioned, and in 2014, it, along with two Keeper's Quarters and an Oil Shed, were relocated to Core Park in Port St. Joe, where the city took ownership with the goal of preserving the structures. The lighthouse, grounds, and gift shop (housed in the Keepers' Quarters) are open to the public.
Several other port cities in the region are also rich in maritime history. The Historic St. Andrews community was one of the first established in the region. It’s said that by the mid-1800s, residents there were “earning a living making salt, fishing and boarding vacationers who came to the area for the ‘healthy sea baths’ and the fishing.” Panama City became an important port both for shipping and fishing. During World War II, it was a center for building ships and later dismantling them.

Today, recreational fishing is a significant industry and tourist attraction in many of the coastal towns and cities throughout the region, with Panama City Beach leading the way. Diving, too, is popular both in Gulf waters and in inland springs and caverns. And of course, basking on the beautiful Gulf beaches or paddling an inland stream have both become tremendous draws for visitors from throughout the country. Whether for historic significance or present-day recreation, the waters of Northwest Florida continue to be the heart of this region.

Nestled in the heart of Tennessee, Muletown Labradors was born from a deep love for Labrador Retrievers and a lifelong connection to animals. Stephanie White’s passion has grown into a purpose-driven business devoted to breeding exceptional Labradors, focusing on health, temperament, and versatility.
White’s journey started long before Muletown Labradors was officially established. Growing up in Middle Tennessee, she was always surrounded by animals, especially dogs. She developed a deep appreciation for the loyalty, intelligence, and work ethic that Labradors possess. Over the years, White became increasingly aware of the importance of responsible breeding — how it could improve not only the health of the dogs but the lives of the families and hunters who welcomed them home.
What sets Muletown Labradors apart is their dedication to quality. They don’t simply breed dogs — they raise family members and trusted companions. Each litter is the result of intentional pairing, thorough health testing, and a commitment to maintaining the Labrador standard. Whether it’s a pup destined for a duck blind, a therapy dog in training, or a child’s first best friend, White ensures every Labrador leaves her home healthy, well-socialized, and ready for life.
Their program emphasizes early socialization, structured development, and plenty of one-on-one attention. White invests in their puppies from the moment they are born, exposing them to different environments, sounds, and experiences that shape confident, balanced dogs. Additionally, health is nonnegotiable in the Muletown Labrador program as each breeding dog undergoes extensive health clearances, and they strive to improve each generation.
While White is originally from Middle Tennessee, she has lived in Columbia, Tennessee, for the past ten years and is proud to call it home. The name “Muletown” is a nod to Columbia, which is rich in tradition, community, and charm. Like the town, her business is founded on integrity, hard work, and connection. “I am proud to serve not just local families, but also clients from all over the country who trust us to provide a Labrador Retriever that lives up to everything the breed stands for,” White said. In fact, Muletown Labradors’ puppies can now be found from the Carolinas to California — and most recently, they proudly sent a puppy across the border to Canada.
Looking ahead, White’s goal is to continue to improve the breed, educate future dog owners, and advocate for ethical breeding. She loves staying connected with her puppy families, offering lifetime support, training tips, and celebrating each milestone.
Whether you’re a hunter looking for a reliable field companion or a family searching for the perfect pet, Muletown Labradors will help you find a Labrador that fits your life — and your heart.

This riverfront haven offers million-dollar views outside while evoking the atmosphere of a mountain lodge with a warm Tennessee soul inside. Constructed in 2003, the home’s rustic charm is brought to life through rich cypress floors, towering wooden beams, and a striking iron staircase that anchors the open-concept design. Each space flows seamlessly into the next, offering spectacular water views from nearly every angle.
THIS RIVERFRONT HAVEN OFFERS MILLIONDOLLAR VIEWS OUTSIDE WHILE EVOKING THE ATMOSPHERE OF A MOUNTAIN LODGE WITH A WARM TENNESSEE SOUL INSIDE.
The home is where style meets serenity. The main level hosts a luxurious primary suite with a spa-like bath, complete with a soaking tub, separate shower, and dual vanities. A spacious walk-in closet lined with cedar offers abundant storage. Upstairs, two generous bedrooms open onto an expansive balcony facing the western sky.
The heart of the home lies in the living and dining areas, where high ceilings and large windows invite the outdoors in. A stone-accent fireplace brings cozy warmth to winter evenings, while summer days are best spent outdoors watching the boats cruise by from the front porch. The kitchen is equally inviting, outfitted with stainless steel appliances, a built-in gas oven and range, ample cabinetry, and plenty of counter space for hosting.
A bonus 6x10 hobby room offers flexibility for creative pursuits, remote work, or storage. Everywhere you turn, the home’s design prioritizes light, flow, and a deep connection to the natural surroundings.
Life on the Tennessee River, whether seasonal or full-time, offers year-round beauty for the outdoor enthusiast. Western-facing views set the stage for dazzling sunsets over the water. During low tide, a natural beach appears along Short Creek, the ideal shoreline for kayaking, fishing, or lounging in the sun. A three-bay dock with boat slips provides direct access to the river, inviting endless weekends of boating, tubing, or marina hopping.
The surrounding 39 wooded acres are ideal for hiking, hunting, and exploring, especially in the fall when the landscape turns golden. When winter sets in, there’s no better spot for a fire pit, s’mores, and football than on the waterfront lawn listening to the water lapping across the rocks.
The house and land are so expansive that it needs an arsenal of toys to go with it … and somewhere to store them. Storage abounds in a detached 30' x 50' three-bay shop — ideal for storing vehicles, watercraft, or working on large projects. The home is serviced by city water and a septic system, and though it feels worlds away, it’s just five minutes from Peters Landing and 18 minutes from Clifton Marina by car. Despite its remote charm, the home maintains all the modern comforts you’d expect in a luxury property.
Every detail was thoughtfully curated for the custom-built house at 468 Phillips Road. This estate offers a level of privacy and freedom that is increasingly rare. Life on the Tennessee River waterways is closer than you think, at just one and a half hours from Columbia, Tennessee, the waterfront home of your dreams awaits! n

Newsboys stand as one of the most influential bands in the history of Christian music, with over 10 million records sold across 23 albums. Their impressive achievements include an RIAA® Platinum certification, eight Gold certifications, 30 #1 radio hits, four GRAMMY® nominations, two American Music Award nominations, and numerous Dove Awards. The band is known for iconic tracks like “We Believe,” “Born Again,” and the chart-topping Platinum-certified anthem “God’s Not Dead,” which inspired the popular film franchise with the same name.
As Newsboys continue to earn accolades with their reinvigorated sound, their latest project, Worldwide Revival, is a two-part album featuring 16 new songs, supported by a national tour. For more than 30 years, the band, with current members Adam Agee (lead vocals), Duncan Phillips (drums), Jeff Frankenstein (keyboards), and Jody Davis (guitar), has delivered electrifying live performances around the globe. Originating in Australia and now based in Nashville, the band remains dedicated to sharing a consistent message of faith with uplifting lyrics driven by a passion for God.
With no signs of slowing down, Newsboys released the Worldwide Revival Deluxe edition this past May, featuring “Fortress,” a song inspired by Psalm 91, and “New Name,” both new original songs. Additionally, it includes new versions of “How Many Times (Oh How You Love Me)” and “Christ & Crucified” with vocals by Adam Agee, who has been with the band for three years and stepped in as lead singer in early 2025.
As the band continues to uplift and inspire with their dynamic blend of Christian rock and pop, along with worship elements, they remain deeply committed to their mission of service and faith. During a recent hometown show at Belmont’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts on the Worldwide Revival Nights Tour, Newsboys gave fans a stellar performance showcasing the old and the new in front of family and friends.
Opening the evening, Agee said, “The coolest thing ever was when these guys invited me to be in their band. It was an honor, and I was so grateful they invited me in to be a part of the writing process for this record, Worldwide Revival. The very first song I wrote for this project … it's a song called “How Many Times.” I remember wanting to write about my journey until this point in my life, where I could not have even fathomed or guessed what God had in store for my life. This was not on any of my five or ten-year plans at all, but it's a song about the seasons in life. I know I've been through a lot of them. [Sometimes] you're celebrating, other times the seasons are very difficult … but it feels like through the years God has given me these little glimpses of hindsight where He says, ‘You had to go through that so you could be where you are right now. You must go through that valley so I can show you this mountain top.’ I want to encourage any of you here tonight, Nashville, whatever season you are in, remember God is there, He is with you, and the song “How Many Times” is about how much He loves us … ”
With family in attendance at the Fisher Center, it was an evening filled with heartfelt moments, and the night held particular significance for keyboardist Frankenstein, who joined the band in 1994. “My wife and I just welcomed our fifth child into the world a few days ago,” he shared. “I have to say it is really bizarre to go from making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for your kids at lunch to being on stage at the Fisher Center after dinner. So, thank you guys for letting me play Rockstar for an hour and a half before I go back home. I appreciate it!”
The Worldwide Revival Nights Tour offers a powerful show with a global reach that spreads a Christian message with the Newsboys’ high-energy music. The band's drummer, Duncan Phillips, is renowned for his exceptional drumming skills and electrifying stage presence. During live shows, he performs while strapped into his signature rotating drum riser, spinning mid-air as he plays — a stunning sight to behold.
Phillips has been a band member since 1993 and has been instrumental in shaping the band’s dynamic sound. Sharing his enthusiasm for the Worldwide Revival Nights Tour, he stated with his thick Aussie accent, “As a Christian band, we do sing about faith, but it’s not about pushing your faith on others. During the COVID restrictions, I think many people started searching for something a little deeper, especially Gen X and Z, yearning for something more. A lot of people are breaking out of the matrix, what they have been told, and experiencing the spiritual life that maybe they never thought they could. I believe the world is due for another revival, and that gets me very excited.”
Over the years, fans may have noticed what appeared to be a revolving door of guitar players in the band. Looking back over the photos of the guitarist, from the guy with the big hair to the man looking a little ragged, Davis laughed as he squashed the rumors, “It turns out they were all me. I had a little identity crisis in the ‘90s.” Davis joined the band in 1992 and left the band in 2003 for personal reasons, rejoining Newsboys in 2009.
Along with their passion for music, the Newsboys have been about giving back and using their platform and resources that God has given them to fight for those who need it the most. In April 2025, the Newsboys traveled to Guatemala in partnership with Children International to perform and share the gospel. “The band has been sponsoring children through Children International for years, and this trip was special because we got to meet some of the kids we sponsor,” Agee explained. “It's different than seeing the little packet with a piece of paper. It's hard to describe when you see that child’s face, they hug you and say thank you for changing my life when I have basically given up nothing.”
For additional information on the Newsboys and tour details, visit newsboys.com/tour and follow them on social media @newsboys. “Sometimes the messenger changes, but the message remains the same. We will do whatever we can to tell the world about Jesus. We do it because we are the Newsboys,” Agee concluded. n

Avariety of changes occur as our bodies age, and one of the most crucial factors is the decline in a molecule called NAD+ (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide). NAD+ is essential for energy production, DNA repair, and maintaining the overall health of our cells. Let’s explore what NAD+ is, the health benefits it offers, and how supplementation can promote healthy aging and support longevity.
NAD+ is a coenzyme found in every living cell in the body. It plays a critical role in various cellular processes, most notably in the generation of energy. NAD+ is involved in the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy currency of cells, by facilitating the breakdown of food into energy. Without NAD+, cells would be unable to produce enough energy to function properly. Additionally, as NAD+ levels naturally decline, the reduction is associated with many age-related conditions, including metabolic dysfunction, neurodegenerative diseases, and even cancer.
Maintaining adequate levels of NAD+ has numerous health benefits as we age. Since NAD+ plays a central role in the process of converting food into energy, maintaining high levels of NAD+, your body can produce more ATP, giving you more energy throughout the day. Also, NAD+ helps regulate key enzymes that control metabolism. It can enhance the efficiency of processes like fat burning, muscle function, and insulin sensitivity, which are crucial for managing weight and preventing metabolic disorders like diabetes.
By supporting neurons, NAD+ protects against neurodegeneration and is involved in repairing DNA damage in brain cells. One of the most important roles of NAD+ is in DNA repair. It activates enzymes, such as sirtuins and PARPs, that help repair DNA damage. By boosting NAD+, you may help protect yourself from age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
NAD+ also plays a crucial role in muscle function by supporting mitochondria, the energy-producing structures in cells. This can enhance physical performance and stamina, while also aiding in recovery after exercise. Furthermore, NAD+ helps maintain the balance of free radicals in the body. By boosting NAD+, you may reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, both of which contribute to aging and the development of chronic diseases.
As NAD+ levels decline, we can boost levels through supplementation, which may help reverse or slow down some agerelated changes. Common means to boost NAD+ levels include supplementation, exercise, a healthy diet, and intermittent fasting.
Supplementation: The most direct way to increase NAD+ levels by taking NAD+ precursors, such as nicotinamide riboside (NR) and nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN). While results may vary, these supplements have been shown to be safe in human trials and can effectively boost NAD+ levels.
Exercise and a healthy diet: Regular physical activity increases NAD+ levels by activating pathways that stimulate its production. Exercise, particularly endurance training, has been shown to boost NAD+ in muscles and throughout the body. A nutrient-rich diet that includes NAD+-boosting foods like whole grains, green vegetables, and lean proteins can support the body's natural NAD+ production. Certain vitamins and minerals, like B3 (niacin), are also essential for NAD+ synthesis.
Intermittent Fasting: Research has shown that intermittent fasting may help elevate NAD+ levels by activating cellular pathways that increase NAD+ production. Fasting triggers the body to repair DNA and improve mitochondrial function, both of which are NAD+ dependent.
As interest in NAD+ therapy grows, the question is whether oral supplements or injections are more effective. While both methods aim to replenish NAD+ and support cellular health, their efficacy, absorption rates, and speed of benefits differ significantly.
Oral NAD+ supplements, like capsules or tablets containing Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) or Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN), are convenient and easy to incorporate into your daily routine. However, they come with limitations like a significant portion of the active compound being lost during digestion, a delayed onset requiring weeks to months of use, and digestive sensitivity. That said, oral NAD+ precursors are still a valuable option, especially when used to maintain NAD+ levels after a more intensive therapy like injections or IV treatment.
NAD+ injections, typically administered intramuscularly, offer a direct and highly bioavailable way to boost NAD+ levels since injections deliver NAD+ directly into the bloodstream. Many users report feeling increased energy, mental clarity, and improved recovery within days, and treatments can be tailored to suit individual needs in terms of frequency and dosage. The injection method is especially beneficial for individuals with chronic fatigue or decline, and those seeking faster, more noticeable results.
REGULAR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY INCREASES NAD+ LEVELS BY ACTIVATING PATHWAYS THAT STIMULATE ITS PRODUCTION.
Many individuals find that a combined approach, starting with injections and maintaining with oral supplements, works best. The best choice depends on your goals, lifestyle, and budget. Consider injections, although the pricier option, if you're looking for fast, noticeable results to boost energy, mental clarity, and performance. On the flip side, use oral supplements as a maintenance tool after injection or IV therapy, or if you prefer a low-commitment, daily option.
In conclusion, NAD+ is a vital molecule that plays an essential role in maintaining health and vitality. Supplementing NAD+ through precursors like NMN and NR offers a promising approach to restore and enhance NAD+ levels, potentially boosting energy, supporting brain and muscle health, and improving metabolism. The potential of NAD+ precursors to extend health span and possibly lifespan is an exciting area of research that could have profound implications for how we manage aging and age-related diseases.

In an era marked by unpredictable economic shifts, investment diversification stands as a cornerstone of prudent financial planning. The world is rife with uncertainties geopolitical tensions, technological disruptions, and unexpected global events that can roil financial markets without warning. Historical market downturns, such as the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, the COVID-19-induced selloff of 2020, and the tariff-driven market turbulence of early 2025, underscore the necessity of a diversified portfolio. These events, each distinct in origin yet similar in their unpredictability, highlight why investors must adopt a disciplined, diversified approach to safeguard and grow their wealth over the long term.
Market uncertainty often stems from systemic shocks that defy prediction. The Global Financial Crisis, triggered by the collapse of the U.S. housing bubble and amplified by complex financial instruments, led to a systemic selloff that erased trillions in global wealth. Stocks plummeted, with the S&P 500 dropping nearly 57% from its 2007 peak to its 2009 trough. Similarly, the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 caused a swift and severe market correction, with the S&P 500 falling 34% in just over a month as lockdowns paralyzed economies. More recently, the tariff selloff of 2024, spurred by unexpected trade policy shifts, roiled markets as investors grappled with fears of disrupted supply chains and inflationary pressures. These events, while unique, share a common thread: they were largely unforeseen, catching even seasoned investors off guard.
Such unpredictability underscores the danger of concentrated portfolios. A 2019 study by Vanguard1 found that portfolios lacking diversification — those heavily weighted toward a single asset class or sector — experienced significantly higher volatility and greater losses during market downturns compared to well-diversified portfolios. The lesson is clear: diversification is not merely a strategy for growth but a critical hedge against the unknown.
Diversification involves spreading investments across various asset classes to reduce risk while maintaining potential for returns. A foundational approach is the allocation between stocks and bonds, which should be tailored to an investor’s age, risk tolerance, and spending goals. Younger investors, with longer time horizons, may favor a higher stock allocation (e.g., 70-80%) to capture growth, as equities historically outperform other asset classes over decades. Older investors, nearing retirement, may shift toward bonds (e.g., 50-60%) for stability and income, as bonds tend to be less volatile. However, these ratios are not static; they must align with specific financial objectives, such as funding education, retirement, or legacy planning.
Beyond stocks and bonds, alternative investments like private equity, private credit, and real estate may further mitigate risk. Private markets often exhibit lower correlation with public markets, providing a buffer during equity selloffs. For instance, real estate may offer steady cash flows through rental income, while private equity can capture growth in non-public companies. However, access to these assets typically requires investor accreditation due to their complexity and illiquidity, adding a layer of sophistication to portfolio construction.
The structure of an investment account — taxable or retirement — also influences diversification strategy. Taxable accounts offer flexibility but are subject to capital gains taxes upon selling assets, which can erode returns if investors liquidate positions during market uncertainty. Retirement accounts, such as IRAs or 401(k)s, benefit from tax-deferred growth, making them ideal for long-term holdings. However, early withdrawals from retirement accounts often incur penalties, reinforcing the need for a long-term perspective.
Selling to cash during market downturns, a common emotional reaction, is rarely wise. A 2020 study by J.P. Morgan Asset Management2 revealed that investors who attempted to time the market—selling during volatility and waiting to re-enter — underperformed those who remained invested by a wide margin. Over a 20year period, market timers achieved annualized returns of just 2.9%, compared to 6.1% for those who stayed the course. This gap highlights the peril of reacting to short-term uncertainty and the value of a diversified, long-term strategy.
Investors are not traders. The temptation to predict market movements often leads to costly mistakes. Research from the University of California, Berkeley, in 20213 showed that portfolios adhering to a disciplined asset allocation strategy outperformed those attempting to time market entries and exits by an average of 1.5% annually. Proper diversification, rooted in a strategic mix of assets, allows investors to weather volatility without succumbing to emotional decisions. This approach requires balancing growthoriented assets with stabilizers, adjusting allocations as life circumstances evolve, and resisting the urge to chase trends.
The intricacies of diversification — spanning asset allocation, tax considerations, and alternative investments — can overwhelm even sophisticated investors. Factors such as correlation coefficients, riskadjusted returns, and liquidity profiles demand rigorous analysis. For example, while private credit may offer attractive yields, its illiquidity and credit risk require careful evaluation. Similarly, real estate investments involve considerations of leverage, market cycles, and tax implications like depreciation. These complexities underscore the need for a structured, evidence-based approach to portfolio construction.
Navigating this landscape is no small feat, and investors may benefit from professional expertise. A skilled investment advisor can craft a tailored diversification strategy, aligning asset allocation with a client’s goals, time horizon, and risk tolerance. One of the most significant advantages of professional guidance is emotional discipline. Advisors help clients avoid impulsive decisions during market turbulence, ensuring adherence to a long-term plan. By leveraging research, market insights, and sophisticated tools, advisors can construct portfolios that balance growth and stability, positioning clients to achieve their financial aspirations.
In a world of unrelenting uncertainty, diversification remains the investor’s most reliable shield. By thoughtfully allocating assets, considering tax implications, and exploring alternative investments, investors may build resilient portfolios that endure market storms. Partnering with a professional advisor offers not just expertise but also the clarity and discipline needed to stay the course, transforming uncertainty into opportunity. n

The dream has been a work in progress for more than two and a half years, and the vision of a hair salon and wellness lounge came to fruition this past June for salon owner Jessie Mobley. The major renovations and added services make 931 Beauty Co. the ultimate all-encompassing health and wellness destination, with the 931 brands 931 Bridal Co., 931 Skin Co., and 931 Beauty Co. all under one roof in Columbia, Tennessee.
The remodel for this luxury hair salon and spa is stunning and added 4,000 square feet to the existing 931 Beauty Co. hair salon. The combined space, now 6,000 square feet in all, is elegant and inviting. Mobley took this opportunity to rebrand and change the color palette to darker, warmer tones during the renovation. She described what the new space entails, “We are now offering an all-inclusive experience. Self-care that’s also health-oriented, with botanical and clinical options. The wellness rooms are dark, mysterious, and really relaxing. We offer beautiful, luxurious robes for our clients to wear while relaxing and during their services. We have our bridal area for those special celebrations. We wanted to have it all under one roof, from Botox to hair services to massages and extension toppers, to create that all-inclusive service experience and that’s what I feel we have achieved.”
The new 931 Bridal Co. area features a bar and lounge, complete with a secluded outdoor patio. This wellness space is ideal for private parties and celebrations, offering the flexibility to add drinks and food to any package and enhance the experience. It also provides a perfect setting for the bride and bridal party to have their hair and makeup done on the wedding day. “The space will be used as an event space for parties, and we will host customizable luxury parties,” Mobley said. “We have a bridal party of 10 coming from Chicago. They will be picked up in a Sprinter van from the airport and brought here, where champagne and charcuterie boards will be waiting. They will then be getting beauty services for a fabulous customized experience.”
The wellness space also features two head spa rooms, providing a tranquil ambiance. Each room is equipped with a spacious head spa table, where guests can receive a transformative scalp treatment to detox and renew. Furthermore, it features an infrared sauna for deep relaxation and a cold plunge soaking tub to aid in muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, and boost the immune system.
In addition to bridal parties, 931 Bridal Co. is now hosting Bella Bashes for all the younger princesses to celebrate in style. These two-hour private parties are held on Sundays and include hair styling, light makeup, mini-manicures, pizza, cupcakes, and refreshments.
Connected to 931 Bridal Co. through a hallway in the renovated space is 931 Skin Co. This health and wellness collective area is reserved for skin and massage services. Whether you are looking for Botox, filler, décolleté massage, or the signature HydraFacial with their signature ZO® Skin Health line, 931 Skin Co. offers a full menu of services. Here, licensed massage therapists and licensed aestheticians provide clients with services that help them achieve radiant health and beauty from the inside out. Services include facials, dermaplaning facials, tinting, and chemical peels. Once a week, hormone replacement therapy is offered, and an injector is on-site twice a week, providing weight loss, anti-aging peptide therapy, and IV therapy services.
Of course, 931 Beauty Co. remains at the heart of it all. The hair salon, in its original location, is adjacent to 931 Skin Co. and continues to offer an extensive selection of luxury hair services from haircuts, color, and extensions to hair follicle testing and TricoTrest, which provides valuable insights into scalp health. Mobley, through her personal experience with hair loss, has become an advocate for those experiencing hair loss. 931 Beauty Co. offers custom-designed hairpieces crafted in Bologna, Italy, using the CNC Hair System to create a 3D Cranial Prosthesis. Mobley visited the Cesare Ragazzi Laboratories in Bologna and is the only salon licensed in the area to offer a medical device for hair loss solutions.
These days, Mobley isn't spending much time behind the chair because her focus has shifted to expanding the 931 Beauty Co. brands. “I feel this is an important aspect of our company because we are branding ourselves with the heart and guts of emotional and mental welfare. We are the brand that is taking care of people on a mental level and going into the physical level as a layer on top of that, all under one roof, to create that all-inclusive service experience,” Mobley concluded. n

Children’s Dental Columbia has provided comprehensive dental care for the children of middle Tennessee for 46 years. Dr. Heather Owens and Dr. Gina Carney are board-certified pediatric dentists. They specialize in dentistry for infants, children, teenagers, and patients with special needs. They, along with their staff, are dedicated to providing the highest possible quality of care for your child. They believe that good oral health is an important part of your child's overall health and well-being. Caring for children is their passion, and it shows in everything they say and do.
Founded in 1979, Children’s Dental Columbia moved into their new office in May 2021. This brand-new, state-of-the-art building was designed with your child in mind. From the child-friendly tropical décor to the televisions mounted on the ceiling, everything is geared toward fostering a great experience for children. They provide a comfortable dental home for children and treat each patient as if they were a part of their own family.
Educating children and parents is very important at Children’s Dental, and they genuinely want parents to feel informed and confident that they are receiving the best treatment possible. They encourage parents to establish a relationship with a pediatric dentist in early childhood. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a child visit a pediatric dentist six months after the first tooth appears. By seeing a child at such a young age, they are better equipped to provide guidance that helps prevent the development of many common dental problems.
In addition to the outstanding dentists, the highly trained team members at Children’s Dental are chosen for their compassion and skills in caring for children. Their extensive training enables them to provide care for children with various levels of sedation in the office and in an outpatient surgery setting.
Children’s Dental Columbia is excited to announce that Dr. Katherine Harlan Bolding will be joining their amazing team this summer. Dr. Katherine grew up in Columbia, Tennessee. After graduating from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, she attended the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. Following dental school, she worked at a children’s dental office in Mississippi, then completed a pediatric dental residency in Kansas. She is thrilled to be coming back to her hometown to work as a pediatric dentist in the practice where she grew up as a patient of Dr. Heather Owens.
Children’s Dental Columbia is located at 6000 Trotwood Avenue in Columbia. To make an appointment with Dr. Katherine Bolding, call (931) 381-9721 or visit ChildrensDentalColumbia.com n

WhenI met Brandon Skelton, I was introduced to him in the middle of our local Planet Fitness by my future husband, who said, "Hon, this is the guy that is gonna marry us." At that time, I knew him only as the boss of my love, but later found out he is a man of many talents. Brandon, resides in Maury County and has been married to his wife, Elizabeth, for 16 years, is a father of two in double digits (Naomi, 14, and Micah, 10), a high school teacher, and on staff with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, as well as a brilliant stand-up comedian among many other things. He is also a belly full of laughs, you really must see.
Before his comedy career, which began at the end of 2017, Brandon served as a pastor, which has opened many doors to his comedy career. When he started in comedy, Brandon knew he could use some formal training. After six weeks, he was a proud graduate of the Rik Roberts' School of Laughs™. During those six weeks, Brandon learned the proper way to craft jokes, deliver them on stage, and create a comedy business.
Since graduating from the School of Laughs, he has made people laugh from the church pews to national conferences and everything in between. He has performed approximately 300 events in 19 different states and is often asked if he is related to the comedy legend Red Skelton, to which Brandon’s response is, “I am going to claim Red until he tells people otherwise.”
Brandon’s favorite comedy memory was appearing on Huckabee, because he not only enjoyed the show but also has a great deal of respect for the way Mike Huckabee navigates being a political leader and stays true to his faith. Brandon also recorded a special with Dry Bar Comedy titled Having Kids Wrecked My Body in 2022. Brandon performs clean comedy that's both funny and relatable, whether he's performing in a church, a corporate event, or a comedy club. His comedy focuses on marriage, parenting, teaching, and his time as a manager at Planet Fitness. Of course, he always throws in a Dollar General joke or two at every show.
When asked, "What inspired you to get into comedy?" Brandon’s response was heartwarming. "I have always enjoyed watching and listening to stand-up comedy. But I kind of stumbled into performing stand-up. I had several friends who pastored churches ask me to do comedy for their church banquets. I really enjoyed it and was ok at it. Comedy became a passion when it helped me personally. I went to an open mic a couple of days after we found out my dad was going to be dealing with lymphoma for a second time. It had been a difficult week, but that night, for a couple of hours, I got the opportunity to laugh. Since then, I have approached comedy as a calling to give people the opportunity to laugh, even on the tough days."
When talking to Brandon, you will find that he has a heart of compassion and loves to bring encouragement and laughter wherever he goes. One of his favorite things to do is use comedy to raise money for worthy causes. He has organized multiple events to help send students on mission trips to Africa and also partnered with a non-profit fundraising group called Funny4Funds, which hosts a comedy show accompanied by a meal and raffle to raise funds for local causes. When asked what his favorite place to perform has been, he answered, "My favorite place is the Nashville Men's Conference. This will be my fourth year providing comedy for this state-wide event. There are usually over 700 men in attendance, and they enjoy a good laugh. An added bonus is that I have booked a lot of other gigs because of the exposure and validation that comes from doing the conference." n
Skelton is currently touring with Last Comic Standing winner Jon Reep. The best place to find his current schedule of events is on his Instagram page @ComedianBrandonSkelton, and can also be found on YouTube at The Church Comedian Brandon Skelton. For a night full of laughter, you need to make sure you catch Brandon Skelton cracking jokes in a town near you.

On Friday, May 9, The Factory at Franklin was transformed into a vibrant celebration of resilience, community, and transformation as Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury (HFHWM) hosted its 16th annual Hammers & High Heels fundraiser, presented by Community Health Systems. The event shattered the organization's previous fundraising records, raising more than $200,000 to support the construction of a Women Build home for future homeowner Alarriona and her young daughter, Kelis.
The 2025 event embraced the theme Seasons of Hope, highlighting how the stability of homeownership creates a lasting foundation throughout every chapter and season of life. As HFHWM CEO, Kim Randell, shared in her remarks, the true impact of a Habitat home extends far beyond its walls.
“The ripple effects will echo for years, in ways big and small. When the family decorates their first Christmas tree in the living room. When Kelis starts school with a quiet bedroom where she can learn, read, and let her imagination run wild. And someday, when she’s dressed up for prom, posing with friends on the front porch, or pulling into the driveway in her very first car — this home will be the foundation of her story,” said Randell. “Because this isn’t just a house. It will be a safe haven through life’s storms, and the backdrop for a lifetime of memories.”
The evening featured a curated dinner by South Fork Catering, high-gravity beer tastings from Curio Brewing Company, and spirited bidding in both the silent and live auctions, with trips to Mexico, Florida, and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail on the block. Guests also enjoyed a whiskey and wine pull, stocked thanks to the generosity of William Grant & Sons, local businesses, and the HFHWM board and staff.
But at the heart of the evening was Alarriona — a mother determined to build a better future for her daughter. “The last apartment we were in always had issues. Something was always breaking, and I had just had a newborn. It was overwhelming,” Alarriona shared. “Then I started looking for other apartments, and they were just way too expensive. I couldn’t afford it.”
Through HFHWM’s Homeownership Program, Alarriona will purchase her home with an affordable mortgage, tailored to her income. And with every nail hammered and wall raised by Women Build volunteers, she is one step closer to providing the safety and stability her family deserves. “I’ve never had a place to call home — every time the lease was up, we were out of there. I’m so excited, especially for Kelis[.] This will be amazing for her in the long run,” she said.
