Proportioning & Perspective
Immediate right: Constructing Space/ Inter-Cross Environment
This series of three drawings demonstrates the use of intercross proportioning and one- point perspective to accurately represent sets of objects and a room.
Inter- Cross Environment
Far Right: Objects in Perspective
Two- point perspective is used in this drawing to depict a set of imagined volumes in 3D space. A light source and corresponding shading is used as well to further the reality of the drawing and increase its complexity.

Abstraction Below: Reconstruction of Existing Work The six images below include “The Fruit Bowl” by Juan Gris, followed by my reconstructions of the work using various techniques which uniquely highlight the compositional aspects of the piece.
Immediate right: Superimposition
To create this drawing, an existing painting and photograph were superimposed in a way that would combine the major elements of each to create a compelling composition. Color was also a tool used to blend the two images. Superimposition

Above: Final Drawings
The diptych above serves as a demonstration of my representational skills in drawing both realistic and abstracted spaces. The first drawing uses value, scale, and perspective to depict a space with some degree of realism, while the second superimposes three perspective views in different colors to create an abstracted version of the same space.

Spatial Logic in Plan
2D Geometric Logics 1
Immediate Right: 2D Geometric Logics In the three drawings shown, the logic behind the geometry of shapes and letters is explored through the rationalization of their composition. Architectural elements such as doors and walls were then added to one of the drawings to transform an arbitrary composition of forms into a functional, protoarchitectural floor plan.

Below: Topographic Fields
The piece below explores representing 3D forms in 2D space, using contour lines and shadows to do so. Patterns of trees and walls were added to provide a series of both natural and man- made systems to the composition.

Drawing #1
Proto-Architecture
Below: Structural Matrices
The object in the axonometric drawings directly below is the product of creating a geometrically complex 3D form and then transforming it into three systems of structural elements. Color is used in the second drawing to differentiate the structural systems.

Partial Facades 2
Above: Partial Facades
In the drawings directly above, a randomly created shape was split and architectural elements were added to the form to create a space that begins to take on qualities of functional architecture. Color is added to highlight the elements that humans would interact with, such as windows and railings, while pattern serves to draw attention to the facade.

Porous Forms
Above: Porous Forms
The drawing above explores not only representational techniques for 3D objects, but also the creation of the objects themselves. I created an object with in 3D space that has complex geometry, is porous in the x, y, and z planes, and takes on qualities of a potentially architectural form.

Solid & Void
Immediate Right: Figures and Networks
A 2D network was crated in the drawing at right, as well as the figures created from the voids of the network. In terms of representation, hatches, fills, and shadow were explored as techniques to depict these forms. Figures and Networks

Composite Illustration Below: Composite Illustration
This illustration pulls from the forms made and skills learned in the previous digital drawings, and compiles them into one axonometric drawing. For example, topographic elements, geometric logic, structural systems, entourage, color, and shadow are all implemented in this illustration.

Tectonics & Stereotomics
Foam Cube 1
Iterative Cube
This project of constructing cubes from sticks, foamcore, and a hybrid, laid a foundation for spatial thinking in terms of linear and planar elements, as well as model making as a whole. It also explored designing and building models iteratively. Each cube is unique and has at least six distinct spaces within it that range hierarchically. The single medium cubes were constructed first, then the hybrid, with increasing complexity with each iteration. The hybrid cube was then translated into the drawing at left, which conceptually unrolls the model and represents it with accurate use of line weights.

The design of this pavilion set in downtown Syracuse was an introduction into the role of the site and designing for a program. The pavilion is multi- purpose, and therefore includes spaces of varying privacy and size to accommodate a range of uses. The concept for the design came from studying the site and observing common pedestrian paths through the space. These paths were then translated into the passageways that permeate the structure and divide the functional spaces.

Facade Design
Untitled
This project focused on creating a facade based on the design concepts of The Banca Popolare di Verona by Carlo Scarpa. I implemented Scarpa’s bow windows, circular geometries, and materiality into this facade design. The facade sets up a system of pushing and pulling the window depths based on their location on the building. Vertically, the alignments within the facade are intentionally slightly off, while the horizontal elements highlight and connect aspects of the neighboring buildings.

Sequence & Threshold Art Incubator
The design of the Art Incubator was the first experience into designing an entire building for program, aesthetic quality, and a specific site. The building contains art galleries and studios and is set in downtown Syracuse. Due to its program, the planar facade seems to defy gravity, just as art defies expectations of reality. Sequence was a driving force in the internal design of the structure, as the intention was to have a specific circulation through the space that makes one traveling through the space experience the whole art making process. Additionally, materiality and selected views are used to draw people into the space.
