Actamedia serves to support Mediterranean journalism and simultaneously occupy a culturally layered site, focusing on the intervention of the fascist Cine Impero. The intervention reorients, distorts, and embarrasses the original form, selectively revealing its decay. The surrounding occupiable formwork reinforces the notion of incompleteness, constant construction, and imperfection.

The project in plan layers intervention from city to water. An urban filter and public exhibition site, followed by media center, scaffolding, residences, archaeological park, and arrival dock spans across the length of the site.

Specific and intentional intersections exist between the scaffolding structure and the existing building. These mediating, temporary spaces are then lived in and show signs of long term use.

Designed for Yellow Pine Pit, Idaho, Network of Networks seeks to explore adaptive methods of temporary residence while challenging traditional ideas of sharing within residential space. As a response to typical separation of program between public and private spaces, Network of Networks integrates public working and private living into a complex network of circulation with private living modules scattered around public nuclei.

As a former mining site, Yellow Pine Pit features steep, repeated terracing that complicates travel along the ground plane. This project spans across this terracing with direct access to the street level to provide efficient access to the lower areas of the landscape to be worked on and restored. Its light structure not only serves as a modular framework for the project but also raises the inhabitable spaces above the ground in order to create minimal interference with the landscape restoration and highlight the temporality of the structure.

Due to the temporary need for the structure on site, the modular residential units are completely standardized in contrast with the project’s public centers, and possess the potential for use after their time in Yellow Pine Pit. They are adapted to the specifics of Yellow Pine through the addition of the structural framework they are situated within, which allows for traversing the jagged landscape.

Westward section

This building serves as a multi- purpose community center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with its design derived from an exploration of form and rhythm in context. Inspired by precedent analysis, the basic form of the building features U shaped geometries to not only draw people into the space but also to point towards specific areas of interest in the context. The entire interior and exterior, as well as the structure of the building was dictated by an equal module, which was found to split the site evenly in both directions. The facade of the project is also regulated by that same module, and creating a dialogue of heavy vs. light between the bottom and top units of the structure, respectively.

The project’s library space intentionally rivals the dimensions of its gym to highlight that no matter what the potential strengths of those entering the space were, there would be a monumental area to house that program.

To do so, the library space breaks the vertical dimension of the top unit and is suspended over the entry sequence.

The column supporting it demands entry circulation to filter around it, marking the library’s presence before one has even entered the space.

LAKEFRONT MICRO- HOME DETAILING, MATERIALITY

This micro- home, set just adjacent to Cayuga Lake in NY, considers its orientation on site and relative to the sun to achieve the most ideal visual and thermal comfort performance. Program is organized such that bedrooms are shaded from morning sun, while living spaces receive diffused light and views to the lake beyond. Sets of louvers curate view and block strong southern sun.

The shape of the entire home opens upwards towards its west face, maximizing views to Cayuga Lake, as well as access to westward sun. Skylights extrude from the angled roof to allow in ample light. Systems of louvers sit along the majority of the west facade as well as portions of the east and south faces. They are angled north to diffuse harsh southern sun. The interior layout of the home features a lofted bedroom area to economize space within the home.

Section A The shape of the entire micro- home is seen opening upwards towards its west side, which maximizes views of the adjacent Cayuga Lake, as well as access to the westward sun. Its angle contrasts that of the hill it is situated upon which slopes downward in an eastward direction.

Roof Sheathing

Skylights extrude from the angled roof of the home to allow ample light into the micro-home.

Systems of louvers sit along the majority of the west facade as well as along portions of the east and south faces of the home. They are angled north which causes the diffusion of some of the harsh southern sun.

CARTOGRAPHY SERIES MAPPING, SPATIALIZATION, ABSTRACTION Fall 2022- Fall 2023

This series of drawings and physical models result from an analysis of cities and a desire to represent an aspect of their urban strategy. NYC I and II investigates the underground landscape of New York City, aiming to represent all that occurs beneath grade level.

NYC II takes the true map of the subway system and abstracts it into a physical model that takes on a new form as the routes are woven together.

[Re]Work aims to replace the disused overground train station in Highgate, London with a space that increases community interaction between those who have begun to work from home because of the Covid pandemic and live around Highgate. The overarching theme of our project is regeneration, both of the community after Covid and in the site itself. The space features themes of material reuse and the benefits of biophilia in the workspace.

Westward section

Following the demolition of a few of the surrounding structures, original brick is reclaimed for use in the new facade. In addition, the original train trenches are infilled and border fencing is carefully removed to be reused for railings, terrace drainage and landscaping, and permeable interior partitions.
